First "sun" holiday for more than two years.

Sounds like a nice idea doesn't it? Get away from the terrible uk weather and
get some nice sun in Spain.

Yeah, bloody horrible weather in the UK as usual, let's get to the Spanish sun!

Ole, ole, ole, ole, Feeling hot, hot hot, baby! Yeah!

Been stuck at home since lockdown. Time to get away.

Never mind about my stupid fears the back will seize up. Let's get outta here!

And let's hope it's not one of those days when BA screws everything up, loses all
the bags and we end up sleeping at the airport for two days.

We leave on rather a nice sunny day but hell, that won't last long in the UK.

Soon we're on a nice smooth Easyjet flight (kind of wishing we had not booked BA for the
journey back). Flight is packed.

Lovely flight to Palma. Except. It's raining when we get off the plane. And windy and cold.

Never mind, be sunny tomorrow. But it wasn't. What a hotel though.

Take a bow the Castillo hotel con vida in Palma.
Great staff, amazing rooms, views and breakfasts.

It's over 16's only which given we've done our child rearing is rather great!

It's a 13th century castle with lots of original features. I have about a million marriott points so got an upgrade to an amazing suite.

Just as well: we were stuck in that suite for most of the time.. as it pissed down with rain
every day. And it was cold and rainy.

Meanwhile we saw back in the UK it was hot and sunny! Doh!

We braved the terrible weather a few times and ventured out for food and coffee.

Had some decent meals out - are you enjoying this tale of someone's holiday you don't know
or have you already skipped through...
Masks were a right pain though in the hotel, the airport, everywhere. On, off, on,
off.

Treated ourselves to BA "business class" on the way back which was risky given all its current
known IT glitches.

Indeed it was the only flight shown to be delayed but it was just half an hour.

We got to use a nice lounge and rather surprisingly the food on the plane was good.

Instead of previously microwaved mush a roast beef or asian salad was the offer to a
very good standard. So well done BA for that.

Not such a good entry to the UK though as we arrived late and then had to wait 30 mins
for "a stand to become available"..

Getting out of Heathrow took ages, tons of queues and long walks but at least most of the
automated gates were working.

You'd certainly consider buying travel shares soon though - both the Easyjet and BA flights were full on a weekday in March.

We feel lucky though because once the Easter hols started there is footage of crazy queues at
Heathrow and other airports with missed and cancelled flights.

For now, I think I'd keep away from flying during school holidays.

In the next episode of NT: forget about dull stories of someone you don't know's holiday..

Next time discover how people pleasing me managed to get ripped off twice by
two separate retailers!

Very much enjoyed seeing some of you at the two online seminars recently..

Some lovely people, some great chats and brilliant ideas.

Though we did have one or two blokes from Yorkshire who were too tight to buy Yorkshire Gold tea instead of standard Yorkshire....

Also glad many of you at the follow up one are still doing ok considering it is difficult at the moment.

Hopefully those of you who came to the beginner/improver one got the notes - please check spam if you didn't as the document is quite long.

Thanks for the great feedback especially from you beginners and remember you can just start with small amounts, you don't have to go all in!

Let me know how you do.

I've just set a new date for the next beginners/improvers online event, it's April 27th.

if you fancy spending a day with me and live markets and a bit of fun too, mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April interested."
Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."

Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Next is April 27th online, mail for details.

Naked Rambling

No idea what to say about the terrible events in Ukraine except all we can do is send
money and support.

It's amazing in 2022 this kind of thing can happen.

At least with all the footage unlike some previous wars proof of war crimes is going to be
a lot easier and wouldn't it be wonderful if one day that c*** Putin is in court.

Let's hope the majority of decent Russians can somehow overthrow him and his horrible
thug mates.

The bravery of the Ukrainian people is remarkable. To keep Putin out of Kiev is a
stunning achievement.

I wonder if we're not too far from the younger generation taking over from the grizzled old
guard still stuck in the past.

Staff shortages everywhere are causing economic problems.

You've got to wonder though: how many really have covid and how many are pretending
to have covid.

Hmm... an airline steward. Battle with passengers at Heathrow... or feet up, tea and toast
in front of "This Morning". Tricky one.

The writer of "How to murder your husband" is on trial for... erm.. shooting her husband dead.

Let's face it he had a clue as to his eventual demise staring at him.

He had another clue: she stood to gain a huge sum from his death on a life insurance policy.

He should have run when he could.

My mrs is currently writing a novel entitled:

"The wife who shagged her tennis coach"

Should I be worried?

Holding (*) Ch 4
Begorrah! An Irish series and would you credit it full of Irish cliches, sur it is, not everyone is
thick and drunk there now.

Feck the writers for their lazy stereotypes, Jesus. Who the feck
cares about the fecking plot anyways?

The Irish are smart and witty so stick that up yer hole ye fecking channel 4.

We fecked off watching it after 30 minutes of old shite.

Why does an Irishman wear two condoms? To be sure, to be sure.

(The original Graham Norton book is good though)

Gordon Ramsay's FFS (**) BBC1
FFS indeed! This is like Lord Sir Alan on steroids.

A terrible old cliched load of copied formats.

We get The Apprentice, Dragon's Den, Restaurant Nightmares and all kinds of other formats.

Gordon waggles his willy for the first 20 mins as he jumps out of a helicopter and inexplicably
everyone has to jump in the sea.

Ooh, Gordon you're so hard! (That works well for his wife).

Then there's Apprentice stunts where teams have to sell to locals (except they are obviously employed extras).

Cue pretend tension between contestants. Gordon gets to fire one, sorry "We're done".

Next week Gordon again shows he's the alphiest* male of all time. Only thing is
I don't think many will be left watching.

Gordon, you're done.

*Not sure this word exists. If not, I am trademarking it.
Hacks (****) Amazon
Hurrah! A rare decent new comedy! Big well done to all concerned with this - an older
going downhill comic teams up with a young "cancelled" writer.

Loads of funny lines and situations (in the first 2 episodes seen so far). The narrative is
both women have nothing in common, but gradually realise they are actually similar.

Produced in tight 30 minute episodes it's one of those where you go "another one"? Yes!

The Ipcress Files (****) ITV
This drawn out version of the movie continues to impress.

What's not to like about the 60s backdrops, the clothes.

No "smart" phones, computers... best thing of all no effing charging cables.

A great story and the Michael Caine role isn't badly done. Well done all.

The Father (****) Amazon
Incredible performance from Anthony Hopkins as a man suffering dementia. It's a very sad
story but one known to millions of relatives who struggle to know how to deal with this cruel
illness.

The film is pretty much from the dementia sufferer's point of view. Very nicely done but prepare to feel rather sad after watching it.

The Apprentice The Final (**)
After this, you'd have thought it's time to call time on the ailing show.

Lord Sir Alan was left with one really dud idea - pyjamas, no chance! And one which is in an
crumbling overcrowded market, desserts. Maybe there's a break even there.

I do admire both women for their chutzpah and definitely both will fare well in their lives.

However it's time for Sir Lord to be fired. His tired reading of terrible jokes while everyone else plays sycophant is past its sell by date.

Btw I looked at "Oh so Yum" website. You can order three slices of cake for £21. Any takers?
Hello?

A Cornish council has decided to stop growing daffodils in its parks in case people/kids eat them as they can give tummy bugs.

Have you ever seen anyone eating a daff?

Perhaps a sign would be enough.

"No ball games. No fun. No Playing. Don't eat the daffodils."

Just received this email:

"Legendary Chinese fruit leads to massive penis growth"

I need the opposite: a fruit that makes it smaller.

You'd be surprised at the problems created when you have a big one.

Markets

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

Podcast 5:

https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/

Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money, plus a £100 competition, top tens, spot the intros, nostalgia corner and loads of laughs. Plus experienced investors have tips for beginners and investment ideas - settle down and spend
some time with the Naked Trader!

It has certainly been an interesting time.

Bear points continue to be higher inflation, the Ukraine war, oil price and energy price rises.

The bull points are virus problems coming to an end, people still have money to spend, shares
have already gone down a lot and that is reflected in prices.

It's a weird time to be an investor/trader.

You look at the disgusting pictures from Ukraine - how can you moan about losing money on
a share when so many are in such distress.

All we do is hope there is an end soon for humanity's sake rather then share prices pushing up again.

This last couple of weeks shares seem to have stabilised and some have begun going up.

The mid/small cap market continues to be tricky.

Are most problems already in lower share prices? If so it could really be a great time to buy and I have been sticking my toe in with the big cash pile.

Picking the right stocks will be important this year.

But which? It is not easy as the market looks forward share prices are decided on a company's prospects over the next couple of years.

And there are so many difficult questions to ask about companies you're invested in or thinking of investing in.

Will inflation cause problems? Logistics? A continuing war? How will energy prices damage them?

With so many shares down though are all these problems in the prices?

My thoughts for the time being are: Avoid: retail shares, rag trade, high debt companies.

I bought some Argentex (AGFX) as I felt these shares looked well oversold.

While quite a risky business (FX and such) it's trading on a very low forward pe and also
pays nearly 5% dividend.

And it has a nice little cash pile. While there is potential risk in its markets, the rewards could be very high here with a potential return back up and over 100p.

It's seen a decent bounceback this week and looks strong enough to prompt a buy, however stop will be fairly tight.

The last two years has seen a trading statement in early April so chances are there will be one any time. That makes it obviously risky as a warning would drive it down.

Still, with a low valuation and peers doing fine, I'll take a risk.

An "ahead of"even the ahead of revised expectations for Bloomsbury prompted me to buy some more of the Harry Potter publisher. Even though the writer has been cancelled.

As I mentioned before I think the chances of a bid from a rival such as the much bigger Future are decent.

The problem with the shares is that they are not market-maker only and so the spread can get silly especially before 9am.

So I prefer to try and buy them using direct market access with my IG isa (no other firm seems to do dma for us small fry).

For example the first lot I bought were at the "sell" price of 331, I think the spread was 10 so if I hadn't done dma would have been a lot higher.

Some of you attending the online seminar on April 27th have expressed an interest in learning dma so I hope on the day live to put some DMA orders on the order book to show you how it all works.

I don't generally buy shares issuing a warning as often another warning comes along pushing them even lower.

But I couldn't quite resist buying some Knights Group.

These shares took a massive hit when it blamed omnicrom for staffing problems meaning less profits though it did give a a figure of £18m.

These problems in time should be ironed out and if so, there could be considerable upside to the shares of this legal services outfit.

The shares have more than halved since the beginning of the year and I'm thinking they could get back over 200p. The shares will still have halved but I could have a profit of 20%.

So on this one, I'm not really thinking of a long-term hold, more a shorter-term idea (a month, to two maybe?) for the shares to recover from the lows.

A bit risky this one, food companies have been hammered because of course there are rising
costs and inflation.

But I suspect shares in the very well managed Finsbury Foods FIF have been totally
oversold with the forward pe down to as little as under 7.

I bought this one a while back but came out for a small loss on a "Get out quick" as the
market tumbled.

It came top of the pops in a vote at a follow up/advanced online seminar. Delegates and
two worked in the industry felt it could pass on costs to suppliers.

With wheat and ingredients on the way up due to the war of course it will have to push
up prices.

But, it simply looks like bad news and more is all in the very cheap price.

If there is good news on the war, look for this one to gain 25% plus.

I bought some 888 - it's had a terrible run with uncertainty over its buyup of William Hill and
awaiting a fund raising/placing to do so.

This was announced today, the market liked it. The placing was at a good premium of 230p.

A trading statement alongside the placing and acquisition announcement was fine if not
rip roaring.

One suspects once the acquisition beds in, and we can look forwards to more news of
expansion in the States, the shares are a good bet to motor higher.

The fly in the ointment left is the Government's gambling review - however early signs are it
won't be too bad. I guess the treasury makes a lot from the taxes.

On a side note, there really is little you can do to stop addicted gamblers losing all their money.

If they can't do it with a bookie, they will do it playing forex or bitcoin or whatever.

It's a terrible affliction and I have met a number of addicts over the years.

I try and get them to stop. Like an alcoholic who can never drink again a gambaholic must stop.

If you are currently losing tons on shares and horses and overtrading and losing all your money in a self-destructive way go to gamblers anonymous. Please.

Three mails from forex companies to me today promising me bundles of cash if I can get traders onto their books.

One of them added they would plug my book.

I had to point out my book says "don't trade forex because it's for mugs and you will lose all your money".

Shame I have a conscience - could have made a fortune from pushing people into forex.

I've averaged up again in Indivior which continues to perform well.

It's a drug company determined to help cure the terrible opiod crisis mainly in the States but
also here.

I covered this one a few times so to save repeating myself you can find what I've been banging on about on the site archive or in previous emails if you get the email.

I've gone for a couple of shorts. (Betting on shares to go down)

Moonpig dot con looks like a pig (in a poke).

I tried to get a short on when it floated, couldn't get on, eventually did and made some profit.

But even though shares are lower now they still look overvalued.

In the end, it's just electronic cards and suchlike. It's trading on a crazy pe, it doesn't pay a
dividend and has a ton of debt.

What's not to not like? I reckon shares should be at least 50% lower. My money is where my
mouth is and firmly short.

I've also shorted Compass. Not because it's a bad company but simply that it's likely to continue to be hit by inflation and delivery problems.

Although already down somewhat, likely future problems I'm not sure are in the price yet.

Before you say but Robbie you hypocrite and ejjit you bought a food company above!

Yes but Compass is rated 26X and FIF at 6. So nah.

As with all shorts, I tend to get out reasonably fast if it doesn't go my way and if there is a
big market rally then I'd probably get out, well the trailing stop will.

I've taken profits of £775 in CMC. It reached target and volatility has calmed.

Half profits taken of £3,880 on the Trainline short as a trailing stop kicked in.

Elsewhere great outlook from Next Fifteen, was tempting to bag profits but going to attempt
to hold on longer-term.

Sureserve still looks undervalued at the current price.

Telecom Plus is putting on a spurt. It has a long-term energy supply agreement.

Being a long-term distributor if you want to switch to its decent energy/phone/broadband deals just mail me, and you'd also get the NT email free to your mailbox.

Alternatively if you'd like to become a distributor - you earn every time a customer switches on a light also let me know and I'll set you up.

Who knows where the market will go next but if there is some kind of settlement to the awful war and let's hope then prices could jump.

You have to decide your own level of risk but the main thing as always be sure you can afford to lose some of whatever you have invested - at least short term.

It's that time of the year when you can add 20k into an isa.

It is an amazing tax perk and we are very lucky to have it, I am especially grateful and remember the feeling a while back when I made the first tax free million in one!

I use Barclays, IG and Interactive Investor for mine.

Interactive Investor have a referral thing for the moment so if you want £125 of fees
taken off let me know - available for anyone who invests 10k plus.

On the referral I apparently would get £200 into my account so a win win for both of us?

If you want to go for the referral and the money off email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you details of how we can do it.

Good luck to all of you in current volatile conditions. Maybe we can be lucky, hostilities
will cease and we get back to normal.

Money Week offer:

Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.

Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.

There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.

The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..

On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!

So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT

Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.

Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.

**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

If you are thinking of A ftse trade try https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
as their spread is the tightest at 0.8. Also very pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads there too.

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does: https://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
