Very much enjoyed seeing some of you at the two online seminars over the last two weeks.

Some lovely people, some great chats and brilliant ideas.

Though we did have one or two blokes from Yorkshire who were too tight to buy Yorkshire Gold tea instead of standard Yorkshire....

Also glad many of you at the follow up one are still doing ok considering it is difficult at the moment.

Hopefully those of you who came to the beginner/improver one got the notes - please check spam if you didn't as the document is quite long.

Thanks for the great feedback especially from you beginners and remember you can just start with small amounts, you don't have to go all in!

Let me know how you do.

I've just set a new date for the next beginners/improvers online event, it's April 27th.

if you fancy spending a day with me and live markets and a bit of fun too, mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April interested."

I'm excited and scared in equal measure.

Soon I should be off to Palma, Spain for a holiday in a really lovely hotel.

If this was two years ago before the hip op I'd just be excited.

Yes! Getaway from the UK at last.

But because I still have back pain my brain is worried. It hasn't been far away
from home for a long, long time.

And sitting is a bit uncomfortable and I'll be far away from what my brain considers safety.

My view, and for some time is that there is little wrong with the back apart from wear and tear and the brain produces the pain to try and protect me after the trauma of the op.

Some people call it Tension Mysotis Syndrome, some perceived danger pain.

The brain will only switch it off when the subconscious decides at last there isn't any danger.

Having never had fear before it's a total bummer.

But I think I am on the right path, stopped any treatment or tablets a long time ago.

When I wake up I am fine, but it doesn't take long for the nervous system to wake up and threaten.

But I am proud of myself. I'm back swimming regularly, some cycling and some walking.

Keeping up movement is so important.

I have to steel myself to get through a train journey to the airport, an Easyjet flight and then a cab to the hotel.

I don't care how much pain or nausea I get, it is going to happen and I wonder if I can conquer this my brain might finally decide it doesn't need to produce pain any longer.

The lucky news is no locator forms are needed and we may even be able to go mask free at the airport as restrictions ease.

I'll let you all know how it went when I get back on the next update. That should then be on
April 7th. April already? Sheesshh!

I just had the first of two teeth out.

The upside was it only took 20 mins - the downside is the soreness after and the rinsing out
for days with salt water. Urrggghhh.

Oh well, one more tooth out on return from holiday then a wait and then the implants
(over £5,000 for the lot btw).

It'll all be worth it and it's all my fault anyway for eating too much chocolate in my past
and not cleaning teeth properly.Silly me.

Anyhow me and the knackered teeth are off to Palma soon. Holiday, let's celebrate.

I'll be back with all the news in the next update.

Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."

Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Next is April 27th online, mail for details.

Naked Rambling

I keep staring at the tv at that arse Putin wishing I could be there to stick something
in him.

We can just hope some day he will be made to suffer for his hideous crimes.

How can someone be so disgusting? It is hard to fathom.

Maybe the Russians will turn on him.

There is a lovely generation of Russians who deserve to be
led by decent people.

Note there are hardly any women, if any, in his leading group.

Perhaps it will take some measure of heroics from the people.. like the amazingly brave TV
worker who put the placard up.

Incredible, I could never be so brave.

Many more of her and others and who knows? There is hope.

The scenes on the news are horrific, please let there be a ceasefire soon.

There's some hope on that as I write but who knows what's in Putin's mind.

Some say he plays the long game and we could expect years of cold war problems.

Great news though that Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe has been released at last.

What joy for her and the family, wonderful news.

The last 6 years must have been horrible.

Who'd want to run a fish and chip shop this year.

Apparently prices of fish and potatoes and even mushy peas are going
up 50%, then add in energy price rises where are the profits coming from?

It's heading up to a tenner where I live now.

But how much more can they push
prices up without losing most of their business. People will only pay so much.

I suspect it's the same with restaurant businesses.

Eating out is going to get a lot more expensive.

The Duke ***** Cinemas
A simply wonderful movie currently on at the cinema, if you can't make it watch out for
it when it appears on the streamers at some point.

A lovely nostalgic journey based on a true story where an idealistic factory worker steals a
priceless painting to try and get money for the poor.

Fine performances all round and especially Helen Mirren. It is incredible to think it is a true story.

It is heartwarming and totally delicious. Go see or watch out for it when it streams.

Our House (***) ITV
You've really got to overlook the numerous plot holes here and I am struggling. There are
just too many to take it seriously or be invested in any drama.

It's another ITV drama where it is all about amazing houses that the characters could no
way afford.

The ludicrous plot doesn't matter because middle classes are eyeing up how
the kitchen's been done and where they can buy the amazing accessories.

Oh, and come on, surely someone somewhere sometime makes a mess?

The Ipcress File (****) ITV
Nicely done remake of a classic spy book/movie.

Of course it's hard to beat Michael Caine in the lead role but it's all nicely done, plenty of nostalgia and it's done with tongue in cheek.

A nice easy watch though sometimes not sure what's going on!

Killing Eve (*) BBC1
Eve should be dead. Please, someone. I'll do it.

Picard series 2 (***) Amazon
Our hero baldly goes where... everyone and his cat has been before many times.

It's quite fun though, a nostalgic trip back to next generation days with old faves like
Q, Guinan, the Borg Queen et all. Just don't expect too much.

Takes me back to the lovely days of the 90s where the Next Gen was required viewing at 5pm on Sky One!

If you haven't seen BBC1 comedy "Cheaters" yet do give it a go, hilarious!

Ed Sheeran is in a copyright battle.

Whenever you switch the radio on one of his tedious bland songs is on.

They have driven me to the depths of listening to the Australian punk band
Amyl and the Sniffers.

Nothing like a bit of "Gacked on Anger", especially if your
shares keep going down.

Youth of today: come on, get some energy back into music!

Can you guess today's NT Word puzzle "Wordel" (TM)

Just unjumble this two word phrase.

Clue: It describes the Russian leader

Latot unct

Did you get it?

If you didn't then afraid you are also a latot unct.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Podcast 5:

https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/

Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money, plus a £100 competition, top tens, spot the intros, nostalgia corner and loads of laughs. Plus experienced investors have tips for beginners and investment ideas - settle down and spend
some time with the Naked Trader!

This year has probably been the hardest conditions for trading I can remember since
2008.

In 2008 I remember simply not being able to sell anything because all electronic trading
was often shut off and you couldn't get through to anyone either.

Not so bad these days.

You can definitely at least sell if you need to.

Though the question is should you be selling at all and instead adding?

But when I watch the awful pictures of people being killed by that disgusting piece of
sh1t Putin I kind of feel bad about sitting in a warm house in the UK buying a defence company.

I struggle to work out morality here.

Let's put morality aside from here anyway. No-one else seems to be bothered.

What the hell do you do in these uncertain conditions?

One thing always reminds me not to tinker too much Claudio Ranieri style.

And that's every time there's a crisis I remember I run isas for my sister and her husband.

They are mega wealthy and don't need or frankly care about
the money in their isas.

For their isas I just hold long-term the best companies I can find with decent dividends and just leave them to grow.

Of course I buy and sell sometimes but not very often.

What do I deduce from this?

That not doing anything usually results in a bigger isa balance in the future.

Also, it's much more relaxing then anxiously looking at every share price move and watching your balance go down.

It's hard not to but imagine re-visiting the balance in six months.

Probably if you have decent shares and you picked up dividends, it might be higher!

What's happened for me is my isa balance has on paper has gone down quite a bit despite going into a lot of cash a while back.

But I have done a lot of shorting and so my spreadbet accounts have gone up a bit, not enough to cover the hopefully temporary hit to the isas but still a decent return.

And I'm calm about all this because despite all the world problems and the fear around, optimism usually returns, the market looks forward to better times and eventually good companies rebound.

I also wonder if all the nervous sellers have now sold, so how much further downside is there?

If the worst comes to the worst and we get nuked well, money won't matter!

Though just as the nuke hits my last words will probably be: "I bet Spreadco won't pay out
on that FTSE short now."

I've held two online seminars in the last two weeks and lovely to meet some newbies and some long-standing investors I know very well too.

We ended up with a great list of value shares to get stuck into perhaps when the current crisis has abated.

The thing I tried to get across to those starting is, you can just go in for small money especially in current conditions.

You don't need to stick 20k in an isa and go all in!

Mainly at the seminars we worked on finding shares that have come down a lot that now look
like bargains.

Indeed, what I discovered was at these seminars it was easy to find bargains.

Big difference from six months ago when it was very hard to find a bargain.

I must realise when it's hard to find value the market is probably too high and it's time
to take profits and when it's easy to find value it's time to buy!

I feel lucky I did bank a load of profits and went into a big cash pile a while back, I am now
armed and ready for some bargain hunting.

I've tried not to do too much, the odd bargain hunt here and there as of course the war could
worsen and prices could fall further.

Though the last couple of days fear seems to be retreating and greed settling back in.

Perhaps the best move continues to be keep a decent cash pile, don't get involved in
trading this up and down every day and be patient.

I'm thinking also this is the time to operate the "get out quick" strategy as outlined in Naked
Trader 5.

Right now a buy has to be deep value so I bought some Somero SOM which looks stunning
value at the moment.

I bought this a while back and took a loss, looking back the price was too high.

But just the other day it reported sales growth of a massive 51% from 2020-1.Of course
we can't expect that to be repeated.

It pays a fantastic dividend as well so if I can I will try and sit with it especially as I have
bought a lot lower than my previous try at it.

The spread on it is frankly ridiculous - the market makes get away with murder here but we did quite a few tests on it at the seminar and discovered though sometimes the spread looks like it's 20p, it is often only 5-8p in reality.

I bought two defence companies, Chemring and Qinetic.

I'm a little "should I really be buying these am I making money out of other people's misery"
on this and my conscience is not decided.

I don't think me buying small amounts makes any difference to anything is my thought in the end.

I have sent quite a bit of money to the Ukraine appeal - I hope and think I did it for human reasons not to salve my conscience.

Anyway - the government is expected to lift defence spending and it's probable these two will benefit, in any event they both look reasonably cheap.

I noticed Begbies Traynor BEG had come down a lot and it looked a total bargain so I bought a few, I made a great profit on these a while back.

Given it's an insolvency company, sadly it ought to have a lot of business on the way over the
next couple of years.

Fundamentally it looks very sound and given recent falls it looks excellent value.

I bought some Morgan Advanced Materials MGAM which we discussed in detail at the online seminar.

It came up with a very bullish statement and surprised the market with better than expected profits and I liked the massive rise in the dividend too.

This company could have a bright 2022 - it doesn't seem too worried by inflation pressures and a forward pe of just over 10 makes it look very cheap indeed.

Could easily go 100 points higher in time given things don't worsen in Ukraine.

Next Fifteen (NFC) is an interesting overlooked pr firm which seems to be really going places.

In the midst of chaos, it easily managed to raise a further £50m to fund another acquisition.

It has an amazing roster of names it does business with including Google, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook or whatever the hell that is called now.

The market seems to be re-rating it more in the line of a tech share than a pr one. Indeed it
now calls itself a "tech and data driven" company.

I love underrated under the radar companies, like Science SAG.

I already have a few and nipped a few more yesterday after a fantastic report - I have
no idea why it isn't rated higher.

It has everything I like: rising profits, increased dividend, strong outlook, debt facilities,
a pile of net cash and a decent business.

I reckon it should be rated much higher at least 500p but it has the potential for a lot more.
A 25% increase in dividend is a great sign.

I picked up a broker note from Liberium on research-tree which has a target of 540p for the
shares.

That seems realistic shorter term. Longer-term potentially more.

(For access to broker notes go to research-tree.com - tap in nakedtrader into the promo code box for 20pc discount).

On the sell side, well not much going on.

I was a bit loath to sell any more shares at low
prices and that was easy after all I sold a load a while back at better prices.

I've decided to hold on (grimly) to companies I think are excellent, pay a good dividend and will probably bounce back.

I'm talking companies like Telecom Plus, K3C, I Energiser, Sureserve, Bloomsbury.

K3C ended up the winner of the best value share at the follow up seminar and
well done Vikesh for donating your £100 prize to Ukraine.

I have topped up a little in all of those but not going to add these to the website as it adds a lot of extra work.

I Energiser released a very bullish update suggesting profits "significantly" above.
A push above 400p would be very bullish for a move to 500p.

Huge dividends with IBPO as well.

I still think Bloomsbury could get a bid from Future at some stage.

However I got a surprise last week.

I woke up very late just before the market opened but saw
an email headlining that ITV figures were very impressive.

Deciding getting tea and toast sorted was more important than what the market was up to I sorted that all out and was halfway through breakfast when I logged on wondering how much ITV shares had gone up by.

I went into a spreadbet account (all my ITV was actually in spreadbets) to see how much I'd made but... no ITV in there!

My trailing stops must have been hit! All gone!

I then saw the share price down by a load. That bloody email!

However this is where having trailing stops in a SB account really pays off.

If you have stops with a broker you can often find they are slow to react and miss a falling
price, leaving it way too late.

With a Sb stop, usually an automated computer just activates them immediately.

So right away all my ITV was sold. Without these stops I'd have taken a much bigger hit.

The shares tanked because the market felt spending on new streaming services was going to
be too high.

It did look an overreaction and since then I have bought some back.

For the website trades then it ends up with losses of £560 and £270 and a profit of £4,180.

I've been wondering whether to cash in on some of the shorts which are seeing big gains.

They still all look companies in bother except for perhaps Dechra so taken profits on that of
£6,100.

In real life I have gains of more than £30,000 in Aston Martin but every time I wonder about
profit taking I look at that massive debt it has.
It's nearly that time of the year when you can add 20k into an isa or even 40k if you haven't used this year's allowance yet.

It is an amazing tax perk and we are very lucky to have it, I am especially grateful and remember the feeling a while back when I made the first tax free million in one!

I use Barclays, IG and Interactive Investor for mine.

If you are lucky enough to have 40k free at the mo you could try two different brokers.

For example open one now with ii for 20, and in the new tax year one with Barclays or IG
or Hargreaves.

Interactive Investor have a referral thing for the moment so if you want £125 of fees
taken off let me know - available for anyone who invests 10k plus.

On the referral I apparently would get £200 into my account so a win win for both of us?

If you want to go for the referral and the money off email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you details of how we can do it.

Good luck to all of you in current volatile conditions. Maybe we can be lucky, hostilities
will cease and we get back to normal.

Just a reminder I have a trip to Spain on the way so the next market update will be delayed but should be on April 7th.

In the meantime a new beginners/improvers online seminar date is April 27th live from my place to yours, mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April seminar interested".

Money Week offer:

Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.

Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.

There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.

The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..

On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!

So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT

Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.

Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.

**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

If you are thinking of A ftse trade try https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
as their spread is the tightest at 0.8. Also very pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads there too.

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does: https://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
