See some of you online on next Friday for the seminar.
If you'd like to spend the day with me next riday email for details.
You should all get a questionnaire from me over the weekend it really helps me if you fill it out to know what we should cover.
The Mrs is just back from Dubai where she helped our son move house.
Since leaving school and going straight into business there he has been remarkable.
Working long hours and totally focussed working in an office of people many years older but holding his own.
If you're thinking of buying an investment property in Dubai whether already built or off plan or you are looking to rent somewhere, let me know and will put you in touch.
He is extremely knowledgeable and will take you through the best areas/places to rent or buy.
He's already sorted one or two of my readers out with property over there so do mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com if interested.
It really is boom time out in Dubai. Huge numbers are leaving the UK for opportunities over there and prices are rising, this is a good time to get in.
How did you get on during the most miserable day of the year on Monday.
Apparently Monday and this week is the worst week of the year as the weather is awful.
New year resolutions have already been broken, credit card bills are in and people are about to get divorced.
I was actually perfectly happy at the start of miserable Monday even though Donald Trump decided to hit my portfolio with tariff trouble.
So what, usual Trump tactics, it will all change in a few days so I was perfectly fine at the start of the day. Miserable Monday? What a load of BS!
I was going to have a fantastic Miserable Monday!
Get the tea and toast going!! Yeah!
Just as I settled down for a cuppa and a read of the paper with the toast nicely warm, the door bell goes.
It's the nice neighbour who says there is water gushing out of one of our pipes.
Dragging on some clothes, went out and yes tons of gushing water.
Lucky for me I remembered there was some kind of handle somewhere to turn to stop it and that worked. Still the pipe would have to be fixed as it has cracked.
Back inside, call the plumber. HOW MUCH!!! Oh well, never mind.
Tea and toast cold. Slightly annoyed.
Remade tea and toast. Just about to get stuck in when the phone goes.
It's Barclays, replying to the fact I wanted to add a share to their system.
Before they could tell me whether they could do it, they wanted to run through security questions but I was eyeing up my hot toast.
"Why?" I asked. "First you called me, second why not just tell me if you can add it, no-one cares about it except me."
He starts burbling about "protocol". I sigh and start answering his questions.
By the time I got to the fifth one I gave up. "Forget it," I said. "I just lost the will to live."
It was too late. Toast was cold again.
Another re-make of breakfast.
An email pops in from the accountant.
It starts "Here's the bad news"¦"
Oh no.
"Here's what you have to send to the tax office by the end of the month."
HOW MUCH!!!! Bloody Rachel Reeves.
I decide to relax, I'd decided to do another Naked Trader live radio show next week.
Connected everything up. Press "update" on the studio set up.
Said update merrily deletes all my jingles and music.
Takes me 2 hours to get it all back.
Then some other boring technical thing doesn't work and I decide to give up on it and do the show next month instead when I can face the technicals again.
I pen an email to the people I got the studio from asking why it always screws up and has to be so difficult.
Decide to relax and play an online scrabble game against the cheating AI bot.
As always it gets to go first (It never lets me go first). It starts with 110 points with Jinxing leaving me with all vowels making it impossible for me to get more than 8 points.
The ai can get stuffed (15 points).
To emails then.
An email arrives from a reader who came to a seminar.
He said he was doing really well on a particular share. However it was an awful high risk share that he should never have chosen.
This is after I spent ages at seminars trying to teach him you should avoid ones like the one he chose.
I sighed and moaned.
I decided it best not to say what I was thinking and mailed back "Nice one!"
Best for me, I think. I can't stop a gambler gambling whatever I say.
Someone else has sent me what looks like a novel with his life story which I decide I'll face at the weekend.
Then an obvious one trying to get me to click a link which will probably hack my bank account if I pressed it.
Later in the day I call my Help The Aged phone friend Ivy. I enjoy talking to her.
Except we can only talk in 20 second bursts before she can't hear what I am saying.
I try to explain that she hasn't charged her phone up enough.
I can also hear she's watching Bargain Hunt on the TV at the same time.
I decide maybe gloomy Monday is a real thing.
Next year I'm staying in bed and will ignore doorbells, emails and anything else.
Anyway, by 6pm I thought "that's it never mind let's face it these were all tiny problems, let's bring out the world' tiniest violin.
The Mrs was away in Dubai helping our son move house. And I had a nice ready lasagne to pop in the oven. Hmmmm"¦
Just about to take off the sleeve when I notice the use buy date.
Two days ago!!!!!
Arrggghh and there was nothing else in.
Should I chance it?
I decided not to take the risk and binned it.
Bloody miserable Monday!
Then fortunes changed. I remembered a new fish and chip shop had opened down the road.
Ten minutes later, tucking in while watching a recording of the TV show Industry, miserable Monday didn't seem so bad after all.
Though how do they all manage to have sex on the kitchen island and it's all done and dusted in 1 minute?
It takes me three.
Looking forwards to those of you starting the new year on the 30th with a day online with me, do join us!
And if you are a total beginner you can join me at a hotel on a weekend day on march 14th where we take it nice and slow!
We should be doing another retreat in 2026.

People keep asking me which broker to use for their new ISA.
I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.
Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.
Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.
II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.
If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.
Seems like a no brainer here is the link:
If they ask my acc is burnsrobbieburns@aol.com.
I did a podcast with Zeus Capital and Nick Searle who is the most lovely chap.
He even posted a lovely handwritten thank you letter afterwards. Sheer class.
You can hear be blabbing on about how I came to be a trader and suchlike.
https://zeuscapital.co.uk/adp-podcast/ scroll down to find the one with me.
Took the credit card tracker with me to Sri Lanka. Used it twice to locate where the cards were!
Do get some credit card style tags they are wonderful and just over £20!
Link to the ones I bought:
Put one in your passport wallet and one in your credit card wallet or purse.
Thank me when inevitably something gets lost.
Thanks for the comment on my show about songs you heard it on TV.
Some of you have sent me some songs you liked and heard on TV so it looks like I can do a second one.
It's fun to see what unexpected music you heard and enjoyed.
Looks like from emails Remi Wolfe's "Hello Hello Hello" was a favourite along with the Gustav track.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.
Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.
My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.
You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.
No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.
My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.
You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.
If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you some info.
Thanks for the feedback from recent events.
Gary:
" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.
Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.
The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."
Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!
Dave:
"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."
Phil:
"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!
Naked Rambling
Despite the fact that 70pc of locals are against it.
Doesn't matter they are right and you are not.
Indeed I can't remember voting for 20mph zones on what should be 30mph roads.
How did it all happen in the first place?
And how come 20 and not 25?
The next new government should at least mandate 20's get 10 added between 7pm and 7am.
Making drivers crawl when there is no-one around is silly.
I don't take much notice of politics.
Just feels like those in the game just want showbiz style attention and weren't good looking enough to become actors.
Seems this way with this Jenrick character. He only cares about Jenrick.
And he wants to be the main man and doesn't really care who for or what he stands for.
As a commentator shrewdly put it: "If you take his ambition away from his core he would be a boneless chicken."
Sir Lord Keir has obviously hired a new scriptwriter but sadly it seems to be the new trainee from Have I Got News For You.
The hilarious lines were: "They had more positions than the Kama Sutra having left the country screwed."
That's like the dad who thinks he's funny doing the wedding speech. Cue instant embarrassment from the wedding party.
It got worse. Try this one. "The Tories had an Ikea shadow cabinet. It is full of dead wood. No one wants to buy it and every time you lose a nut it defects to Reform."
More embarrassment!! And goodness knows what Ikea think of that line.
Btw, don't try too much of the Kama Sutra, I have and have nearly done myself a mischief a few times. (Definitely do not attempt number 42).
What we want (what we really really want zigga ah) is for all this embarrassment to stop and these people to take it seriously and stop it.
Positive thinking is good for you, say researchers.
If you train your mind to be optimistic, your health will improve even in cancer where your brain can potentially destroy tumours.
I suggest you don't try this with the stock market.
Your optimism isn't going to help.
That Bolivian oil miner you got from a Twitter tipster isn't going to go up however you use your brain.
HIJACK ** Netflix
The return of the Idris Elba vehicle - this time he's battling a hijack of a train in Germany rather than a plane.
So far so"¦. Meh. Maybe it'll improve and I will try one more.
The twist at the end could be seen a mile away.
DAVID BADDIEL CAT MAN **** Ch4
David Baddiel goes out and about meeting cats and their owners.
There are cats who go for long walks, one walked up Ben Nevis!
Then there are the ones who go paddle boarding.
As one comedian puts it: "Cats are sole traders while dogs are on PAYE."
Industry ***** Bbc1
I guess it might be confusing as there's a lot of city jargon in it, innit? The dialogue can run a bit fast so possibly subtitles might help.
Just brilliantly clever writing and acting here.
Very strong storylines and all the characters are brilliantly flawed. Top notch so well done the BBC on this one!
STEAL **** Amazon
New thriller, often stuff on Amazon is terrible but this one? It's very decent!
Starts what's er face from Game of Thrones as a city worker, part of a team that gets held up in the office by gangsters.
Some tense scenes with a decent surprise ending, be interesting to see where it goes next and worth a view.
A man has spent £16k having his cat frozen in the hope one day she will be brought back to life.
That's a bargain: less than you have to pay to take your cat to the vet for flea treatment.
Oh, ps if you want your body frozen it's £173,000.
Just your brain? A bargain"¦. only £55,000.
Surely a waste of time as people storing their brains must be brain dead already.
NEW CLARKSON!
Jeremy Clarkson's very funny take on farming is just out and is already in the top 20 books.
The latest escapades from the Diddly Squat farm.
Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.
The book is very good value around half off the recommended price at just £11 here:

Markets
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets
I decided to start my market report early on Monday for a change and this is what I wrote!
"Here we go again! Trump is doing his tariff bluster again.
Remember this last time?
Shares went down a lot then a few days later back up again.
Trump's mates are probably pissed off with him and they will want the market to go up again pronto so for the moment I've decided to go "meh" and not worry about it for now
All this tariff stuff will probably fade away again - it's probably the usual bluster.
He's trying his second hand car salesman trick of sticking prices up then you have to negotiate down."
Well, back to today and that's the way it's played out.
He's just a businessman giving you the worst crap offer first till he negotiates you down to what he wants.
Hey, he might as well take over the UK as well as Greenland.
What do you reckon? 100 dollars?
Anyway remember there is no way ever he wants the markets to go down for long or else he's in big trouble with his golf pals.
I've bought some Trifast, this one came up on a momentum and quality screen I think we ran at the last seminar.
If forecasts are right and net debt reduces from the current £17m excluding leases it will start to look rather cheap soon.
It is expanding, and has just been given the green light to start up in Saudi.
It's boring as hell, makes engineering fastenings.
Must be fun at a party. "What do you do?"
"Hell, I'm in engineering fastenings."
"Er, right great to meet you, oh look see you later I must catch up with Peter"¦"
Anyway, it's on a low pe of just 9 with a fantastic PEG and looks like an isa tuckaway unless question marks appear.
Possible downside? Extended tariffs could provide a headwind though in the meantime there's a decent 3% plus dividend.
I'm always a bit cautious about going back into shares that I've lost money on in the past due to my thought of "I'm trying to get revenge and regain the lost money".
But. I try and look at a share afresh and forget previous history I had with it.
So I am back in for some shares that now look overcooked (undercooked?) on the down side.
I noticed Paypoint was rising again after coming down a lot, and I lost a few quid on it recently.
But looking at it afresh the rating looks too low.
It's on just 6, with a dividend of an amazing 9pc!
One reason for the low rating is the debt but that's coming down nicely with net corporate debt down too.
It's a mass of different businesses, some doing well, some not so much.
But taking a view of it as a whole the shares appear to have undershot on the way down and management highlighted the dividends would keep coming including specials.
My thought is buy while it is cheap, hold on for a couple of years, pick up the big yield.
But, I have only dipped in for a small amount for now because there is a likely trading update in the next few days and it is always risky buying ahead of these.
If it's a warning I can get out without too much damage and hopefully buy more if things are looking ok.
I've also gone in for Me Group International which has slid (is that grammatical?) way too far down, mainly because a big fund pulled out.
The photo booth and laundry operator now sits on a way too low valuation and I don't think it will be long before there's a nice 20pc profit.
It sits on just 8x with a cash pile and a massive dividend of nearly 7pc. That alone shows how undervalued it's become.
Same comment for Synetics SNX which again got marked down too savagely and looks very good value at 8x with a yield of nearly 4%.
I think all three have some nice rises to come sooner rather than later.
I like the look of Personal Group which is on my list of 10 for 26.
If you subscribe to my email you'll get the list.
Actually when I say subscribe it's just a one off payment, that's it nothing else ever.
You get the website stuff early, my US shares and some extra trades not on the website.
Interested? Email at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Sub mail interested" for details.
Despite some decent gains last year, there could be more to come for Personal.
Forecast for next year is over £10m with a good deal of net cash too. If it gets anywhere near this then it's cheap and worth at least 20pc more.
Often a clue to an undervalued share is when the dividend yield has crept up and this is now offering a cool 8pc. Sitting at just over 3 quid I'm targeting a rise back up to 400p.
A new CEO should be appointed soon. It delivers employee services saving companies from having to sort it out themselves. Nice business.
I wonder if this year there will be a takeover of one of the spreadbet companies by another.
And my thoughts are IG or Plus 500 might eye up a takeover of CMC Markets which is the smallest player.
CMC could be a nice takeover for a bigger company, maybe Plus would want to add other services like stockbroking accounts.
CMC is going well anyway and Trump style volatility fills the coffers of the SB firms.
I think it could have a very good year.
Keller continues to look cheap.
This under the radar ground improvement construction company rated very lowly at under 8x.
What's very interesting is that next year it's expected to have a balance sheet with net cash instead of debt.
If this works out it will look very undervalued despite recent rises.
It's always hard for investors to buy something that's been going up (!) but this one really looks too cheap making potential here for a bid which I think would need to be at 2200p.
I topsliced the position in Kgh for a profit of £1,000 and Cbox went for a profit of £201, sold through boredom!
A plethora of trading updates this week from shares I own.
Most of them seem to be pretty good. I notice that there still seems to be a sell off even on a good report then the share rises again a few days later.
Nice statement from Boku today, a confident start to the year for the payments processor with revenue ahead of expectations.
Journeo beat profit expectations as its recent acquisition strengthens its critical infrastructure exposure.
Today another great report from under the radar Elixiir which looks to be scaling up and worth a lot more than the current price.
And Tristel reported today with its margins comfortably ahead and a nice cash pole f over £13m.
A strong statement from Anpario which gradually goes up over time.
Yu Group, a nice long-termer for me (trebled from initial holdings) had a statement, with the outlook good with meter points up substantially.
Brokers rate this at over 2000p so there should be considerable upside and a very nice dividend. With patience, a strong buy and hold.
Overall then a decent start to 2026.
Of course vigilance is necessary after all Trump could suddenly go bananas"¦
For US indicies would suggest using the TN guaranteed stop so you know exactly for sure what you could lose if it goes wrong.

Mentoring
Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:
"Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.
But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.
I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.
Boy, what a gripper!
Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.
The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!
Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.
And they are all certain of their own brilliance...
Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..
Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

I've enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Money".
It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.
if you want to better with how you invest, trade or spend money it's a very worthwhile read!
Amazon link here:
Spreadbetting
Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.
Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.
Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".
It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.
It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.
The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".
The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.
If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
