A pleasure meeting some of you online at the seminar though of course it is nicer meeting people in real life.

Amazing range of ages and occupations.

We had a DJ who worked with Sigala and someone who works in a Zambian safari park over the summer every year!

Next online event is March 13th, mail if interested.

After some feedback I'll look to do a hotel seminar for improvers and more experienced in May sometime.

After so many emails asking for another live Naked Trader show I have caved into demand!

Ok, to be honest it was just three of you, but still they say three's a crowd, don't they?

I will be burbling on The Naked Trader Late Breakfast Show live from 8.45am ish to 10.30am on Wednesday (11th)

To access it just click here and press play.

https://fast.citrus3.com:2020/public/nakedtrader

If you click there now you can hear me burbling on for ten minutes telling you all about it and how you can take part.

Lucky for you, you can switch me off any time you like.

Your contributions are welcome and you can contribute from now!

Email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "radio show" in the subject line.

I am looking for:

More songs for traders like last time and again there is £50 for the winner.

Some examples from the last show included "The Only Way is up" Yazz and Down Down Deeper and Down from Status Quo.

The winner was "Up Up and Away" from Fifth Dimension.

You can contribute up to 5 ideas. £50 for the winner.

Also: what's your favourite share and why? Yes, a chance for you to plug one of your holdings!

And what's your best tip for newcomers to the market?

And TV show reviews welcome too, seen anything good or crap you'd like to alert listeners to?

There's going to be a mash up comp, how many songs can you name for £50.

And guess the mystery TV show from the clip.

During the live show you can also whattasp or text or call in live to take part.

I'll be looking as shares reporting that day, plus the share of the day, what's going on in the markets and lots more.

So, don't miss the Naked Trader Late Breakfast Radio show live, tune in from 8.45am on Wednesday! (Preview on air now).

Don't be shy, email me now with your song ideas, your share ideas and any tips for beginners.

Great that some of you are doing business with my son in Dubai.

One of you has just done a deal with him for a rental, and one of you was there last week and he showed you some fab properties.

I do like the one you are about to buy, property is booming out there. You'll almost certainly make money on it.

If you are thinking of/interested in renting or buying in Dubai let me know and my son can get in touch with you.

Email me with "Dubai property interested" in the subject line.

He's been out there nearly two years and it looks like his boss will give him a week off in May and at last we will get a visit.

Next Thursday we are off the press night for "I'm Sorry Prime Minister" at The Apollo, one of the West End theatres my sister owns.

And we get to go to the after show party, should be fun!

Jim Hacker (Griff Rhys Jones) is back, older, but perhaps not wiser, and still utterly baffled by the real world. Hoping for a quiet retirement at the tranquil Hacker College, Oxford, Jim instead finds himself facing the ultimate modern crisis: cancelled by the college committee.

Enter the delightfully devious Sir Humphrey Appleby who has lost none of his love for bureaucracy, Latin phrases, and well-timed obstruction.

Can Humphrey outmanoeuvre the meddling students, the Fellowship, and reality itself? Or is it finally time to say, "I'm Sorry, Prime Minister"¦"?

If you fancy seeing it you can get tickets from my sister's group of theatres here:

https://nimaxtheatres.com/

If you think theatre is expensive, some seats are only £15!

We should be doing another retreat in 2026.

Places are limited to only ten and you need to apply for one, we chat to you and make sure it's right for you.

Interested? Email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "2026 retreats interested". We'll then put you on a list to contact next year and allocate places on a first come first served basis.
People keep asking me which broker to use for their new ISA.

I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.

Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.

Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.

II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.

If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.

Seems like a no brainer here is the link:

If they ask my acc is burnsrobbieburns@aol.com.

I did a podcast with Zeus Capital and Nick Searle who is the most lovely chap.

He even posted a lovely handwritten thank you letter afterwards. Sheer class.

You can hear be blabbing on about how I came to be a trader and suchlike.

Took the credit card tracker with me to Sri Lanka. Used it twice to locate where the cards were!

Do get some credit card style tags they are wonderful and just over £20!

Put one in your passport wallet and one in your credit card wallet or purse.

Thank me when inevitably something gets lost.

Thanks for the comment on my show about songs you heard it on TV.

Some of you have sent me some songs you liked and heard on TV so it looks like I can do a second one.

It's fun to see what unexpected music you heard and enjoyed.

Looks like from emails Remi Wolfe's "Hello Hello Hello" was a favourite along with the Gustav track.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.

Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.

My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.

You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.

You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.

No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.

My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.

You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.

If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you some info.

Thanks for the feedback from recent events.

Gary:

" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

There are some things you can't unsee.

They really should have put out a warning before showing pictures of Peter Mandelson in his y fronts.

I mean"¦. Transfixed. Who wears y fronts anymore?

And, well, those"¦. Erm"¦ saggy old balls.. Urrggghhhh!!!!

The whole Mandelson thing just shows we continue to make our leaders duff arrogant men who just have charisma going for them.

All of them! Every country is ruled by some super narcissist bloke who seems half mad.

And they are always a bit, let's say plain. If they'd been good looking they'd have ended up as actors.

They want to tell everyone what they think, they want to be admired and they want to be on TV.

I think it is time to have a rule: no more men allowed to be in charge of any country.

Women only. No arguments.

Let's hope one day soon those ancient old f

in Iran get what they deserve which is frankly a taste of their own medicine.

They're debased women for too long. Won't it be great to see the Iranians liberated from the horrid old mullas.

The youngsters especially. Time for them to shine without the shackles.

TEHRAN **** Apple
Gripping Israeli series with subtitles.

A Mossad agent gets infiltrated in Tehran and it feels rather authentic.

There's a new series 3 out this week which has Hugh Laurie in it but getting through series 1 first.

It's quite apposite considering what's going on now in Iran. Highly recommended!

Industry ***** Bbc 1

A must watch especially if you're interested in finance.

A very powerful ending to the last episode which perfectly summed up the awful nature of drug addiction.

Some fantastic writing, though it is so good and sometimes fast subtitles can come in handy for the technical market bits. Highlight of the week.

Dragons Den **** Bbc1

Unlike The Apprentice, this old formula still seems to work though not that sure about the "guests".

The slight problem is everyone really wants an offer from Peter or Steven.

The dragons themselves seem to have mellowed. Sometimes the offering is pretty poor and it's obvious no offers would be forthcoming.

Still, it is always interesting to see new business ideas and the amount of equity needed to tempt a dragon.
A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOM *** Sky
Game of Thrones spin off set 100 years before.

It follows the adventures of a hapless knight and is played more for comedy than drama.

It's actually very sweet and some fun there but there's not enough interest here to keep me watching.

A rat scurried along the floor during a Peston interview with Kemi.

Well, just another one leaving the sinking ship.

Apparently 20 somethings are "too tired" to have sex.

Poor things: all that scrolling on Tik Tok is very tiring.

New Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson's very funny take on farming is just out and is already in the top 20 books.

The latest escapades from the Diddly Squat farm.

Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.

The book is very good value around half off the recommended price at just £11 here:

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

Wow, Trump hasn't really done much this week. Makes a nice change.

If you'd kept open your Santa rally FTSE long you should be very pleased.

I sold mine and made a nice profit but would have been even nicer if I had stayed with it.

Never mind eh.

As usual the online seminar last week has given me a wealth of ideas.

Being forced to do share scans is brilliant for me, and I've tucked away the lovely ideas that came up.

Quite a few "trades to be", ie they look decent but still could fall a bit before getting to a reasonable buying price.

There was one in particular that looked great after a statement but I explained such shares fall in the days after on profit taking then rise again.

Patience is always the key to getting a good price with some help from level 2.

A number of nice ideas came up on my Dash For Cash screen on Sharescope.

The screen is really coming up trumps (not Donald) finding good quality companies with cash piles.

When Nichols came up on the screen at the seminar I was expecting not to be interested.

"It just makes Vimto and other sugary drinks, bit boring," I thought.

Though tough Northerners love their Vimto. I had one at a hotel seminar, he drank so much of it he went manic by the afternoon.

I suggested it was because of all the sugar.

But he said "it says no added sugar".

Luckily a doctor next to him pointed out it contained mainly glucose syrup which is like sugar on acid. He stopped drinking it and went quiet. He then collapsed a sugar crash.

But actually it looks good value and has a massive cash pile.

Then I also thought, if I was say, Coke, this would look like a pretty tempting takeover target.

After all Coke makes fizzy water with sugar in it, and so does Nichols.

Anyway obviously total supposition on my part but I think it might be worth sticking some Nichols in the isa, leave it there for a while and see if anything happens.

Victorian Plumbing also came up on my Dash For Cash screen.

I think there is a potential trade here for a poss 20pc for a trade from the early 80s to around 100p, possibly more.

If forecasts are right profits look set to grow very nicely and the rating looks too low.

The cash pile is now up and over £17m. Be interesting to see what it might do with that cash.

With house moves at a low, people are spending more money on their homes and that should help the company.

Lucedo pops up on screens. I got some a while back at a nice price and I've added some.

This lighting outfit just looks too cheap.

Brokers on Research Tree which we looked at during the seminar reckon the share price should be about 230p.

Well, brokers are often a bit too gung ho but maybe 200p.

If forecasts for next year are right it looks way undervalued and because of that I feel there is the possibility of a bid.

If you'd like to see my Dash For Cash
screen it's on the home page of Sharescope, just scroll down till you find it.

If you want to see it without charge you can take out a monthly sub, just around £29 with discount.

If you decide it's not for you you can cancel it within 30 days which is very reasonable indeed.

Discount link here:

https://www.sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader

If you want broker notes, Research Tree has quite a few of those. Often helpful with lots of detail.

Free one week trial to Research Tree here

https://www.research-tree.com/code/nakedtrader

I've trebled and more on Filtronic but stop sliced some for a profit way too early.

I've bought back the ones I sold at a higher price but this one appears to have a head of steam, so for now possibly more of a momentum trade.

It's impossible to value on current figures - results didn't look so great but the market is looking to the future which is where the value might lie.

It's the contract with Space X which is the good news, and one wonders if Space X might just buy the whole thing.

There is a record order book and if that carries on growing, then the share price could continue higher.

A few shares got hit because of AI worries taking over its businesses after a cheap firm launched offering all kinds of cheap access to AI.

Anthropic launched a new AI legal tool which put the wind up some companies.

These were mainly data intensive companies, the market feeling is they are in for a rough time and that AI will take over some of their services.

This tends to be where stops and trailing stops really help, especially trailing stops and while you're out losses and profits are taken for you unemotionally.

I was out and never even knew they were being hit but this is where stops help a lot.

I got stopped out on NFC and SCT for around breakeven and Data for a profit of £556.

A shame, as I did have a lot of paper profits on these just a few hours previously!

Hard to know whether these are knee jerk reactions or whether these types of shares will gradually decline. In these circumstances I'll be cautious and watch.

Shall we just shut all AI down anyway? Let's go back to the good old days, wasn't it all better then?

Also Adpd went for a loss of £123 and I took profits on the BAE topup for a profit of £1,420 but kept my long-term positions.

I added a new short in Pearson and a new one in WPP - these two are being hit by the AI worries and I feel these are likely to fall further.

I already have masses of profits in WPP, they have almost halved since I started to short.

I do feel it is important for these types of shorts to get a guaranteed stop loss so I use TN for these types of trades which offers one.

Reason this is important is what if WPP or Pearson got bid for? My short would blow up and I could lose many thousands.

But TN has this lovely GS and I know if that happened I know exactly how much I would lose which wouldn't be much.

To use guaranteed stops on TN click the guaranteed stop loss button

It costs you a little bit if the stop is hit but it's peanuts.

A guaranteed stop can be fantastic as you absolutely know you can't do your brains if the share price goes totally against you. Link for TN:

https://tradenation.com/en-gb/naked-trader/

(Press Guaranteed stop under the stop button).

There are one or two more trades but I have to save those for my subscribers, after all they have to get something extra don't they.

If you'd like to subscribe let me know. Well, it isn't strictly a subscription, you only pay once and you get till I stop doing it, likely when I kick the bucket!

I can't be bothered with monthly or yearly payments so once in, you're in and that's it.

You get all the website material and trades delivered to your inbox earlier than the site is updated every other Thursday, extra trades, any US trades and high risk ideas I use for my sipp.

Mail robbiethetrader@aol.com with "sub interested".

Paypoint's statement was well received. Probably some worries a warning might be on the way but not the case and it looks undervalued.

Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:

"Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.

But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.

I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.

Boy, what a gripper!

Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.

The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!

Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.

And they are all certain of their own brilliance...

Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..

Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

I've enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Money".

It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.

if you want to better with how you invest, trade or spend money it's a very worthwhile read!

Spreadbetting

I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
