Nice to "meet" some of you online last week.

So many questions which is why the seminar did finish a bit late but they were really
good ones and thanks to one of you for the ex dividend stop loss question which is so important and I had totally forgotten to cover!

Hope you all got the notes from the day, if you didn't please check spam or let me know,
they were sent as a word attachment.

Thanks for the lovely feedback too and four of you have already booked the follow up on June 22nd, so see you again for a more advanced day then.

Remember to try and stick by the rules if you can.

If you missed that event the next will be on June 8th from my place to your PC or phone or whatever.

For details mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "June Seminar interested". For total beginners or those trying to improve.

I've realised I'm a people pleasing mug!

You might think as a trader I'm a cold-hearted sonofab who cares less what people think
of me.

Not at all. I really care and it's really annoying. I want to be liked. Darn it. While
I can remain cold-hearted for just trading stocks I can't extend it to real life.

Here's an example of how this is detrimental to me.

I thought time to get an eye test and stop using pound shop reading glasses.

I broke the last prescription specs from Specsavers 2 years ago. And just have pound shop glasses knocking around.

Then I thought "Let's give a local optician a chance".

Booked in and a charming guy did the eye test, assured me they were in fine health, indeed rather excellent except a bit of aid needed for close up reading.

I was then ushered into another room where there were a load of glasses to try on.

I remembered from Specsavers these nicer frames cost £200 or £300 or something and I thought well, ok, even though really I could care less what the frame is like, no-one is there to see me reading.

A nice lady made me try lots of different pairs.

I never thought to think "There are no prices displayed". An obvious warning signal.

But I was people pleasing and going along with her.

"No those don't suit," she said decisively. Then of course the flattery.

"Wow those look great," she purred.

"Well," I thought pathetically taken in by the flattery. "Yes then I'll take those."

She pops to the counter, takes out a little pad and tots up.

She writes something like £50 eye test and then a few other figures and the total?

Are you ready... are you sure?

£999. (LOL yes I know it's really £1,000).

People pleasing me knew immediately I was being conned but I couldn't somehow protest.

I should have said £999 are you crazy!! What's your cheapest pair?

I could have a lovely holiday with that money, I'm outta here.

£1,000 for reading glasses!

No-one ever even sees me in them, they're only for reading the paper, I don't need designer ones!

She says comfortingly. "Of course you have antiglare, antivirus, antioxidant coatings,
with a special anti idiotic mug case.

(And loads of other bs she just made up for the commission).

For that price, the glasses should also worry about me at night.

Well, anyway now I was apparently the owner of a pair of "Robert Le Roche" specs.

My story gets a lot worse!!

My son said: "You paid a grand, you'll sit on them or lose them within two weeks."

"No chance,"I replied loftily. "I am really good at looking after things. I haven't lost my
virgin active card for three months!"

Next day a friend comes round and we head off to a local cafe for brunch.

He rightly laughs at what happened and how I was conned.

I stick the glasses into their posh holder and shove them in my coat pocket even though
I don't need them for the cafe.

After a lovely brunch, we leave the cafe. When I get home they are missing!

I rush back to the cafe, no sign of them.

Then I remember a dodgy looking bloke who was sitting at another table.

Despite searching for them along the road in case they'd fallen out, no luck.

That bloody dodgy bloke must have nicked them.

My 1k glasses had lasted less than 24 hours.

Worse, my son was about to arrive home from school.

Oh, how he laughed.

I am back to pound shop glasses for the forseeable future.

The 1k specs didn't make any difference anyhow to reading sharpness.

The next day I was ripped off AGAIN!!

At a local paper shop I didn't know where my son was playing an away football game I went in to buy some bread.

A standard branded loaf that's £1.15p at Tesco.

I handed over a tenner, shoved the change in my pocket.

While watching the second half I had a look at the change.

The f***** had charged me £2.95 !!

I didn't even tell him his marmite was 6 months out of date.

That is it! No more Mr Nice Guy. No more trying to please people I
don't know.

From now on I stand up for myself. So there.

Stop press!! The glasses have just been found by a neighbour from the nextdoor
website.

Those specs are staying in the house from now on.

Very much enjoyed seeing some of you at the online seminars recently..

Some lovely people, some great chats and brilliant ideas.

Though we did have one or two blokes from Yorkshire who were too tight to buy Yorkshire Gold tea instead of standard Yorkshire....

Also glad many of you at the follow up one are still doing ok considering it is difficult at the moment.

Thanks for the great feedback especially from you beginners and remember you can just start with small amounts, you don't have to go all in!

Let me know how you do.

if you fancy spending a day with me and live markets and a bit of fun too, mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "June 8th interested."
Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."

Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Next is June 8th online, mail for details.

Naked Rambling

The House of Commons really has descended into a pathetic kids playground.

"He did this miss". "No I didn't." "You did." "Didn't"

We have accusations, porn watching, pissed god knows what, "basic instinct"
leg crossing, counter accusations.

Maybe it's time to remove all alcohol from the premises? After all how many of you have
access to cheap booze where you work?

It's all so pathetic. No-one seems to talk about any policy.

I feel I have little idea what any of the parties stand for anymore, they're all
too busy screaming at each other.

I used to be vaguely interested in what's going on but now... forget about it.

Actually election days are lovely.

No politics allowed on the media. It's lovely.

No childish arguments and finger pointings.

Gordon Ramsay continues to be everywhere, Ch4, BBC.

Well, except seemingly running his own restaurants.

The TV stations haven't yet realised we are well past peak Ramsay and we really
don't want to see any more of whatever manly show off thing he's doing.

I'm not jealous at all, obviously.

Ten Per Cent (***) Amazon
Looking forward to this remake of the French show Call My Agent. It was
ok but a bit disappointing.

I reckon the reason is the actors playing themselves were too nice.

They should have been playing nastier versions of themselves.

There weren't really any laughs but it was still reasonably entertaining.

Chivalry (***)
A new Steve Coogan vehicle. Coogan is a very decent actor but the laughs here are
far and few between as the show takes on the post me too film making business.

Still it does feel smart and sassy.

There must be lots of men in the industry not sure how to handle new wokery.

Can they continue to shag women half their age or not?

Ozark (****) Netflix
The last part of the last series is here. Highly entertaining though not quite in
Better Call Saul territory.

The whole family breaks bad rather than just one member in this series.

You've got to ignore the mounting plot holes in these last episodes and the ending
is disappointing but it always is in a good series isn't it?

Like the endings of The Sopranos and Game of Thrones.

Still, overall it's going at the right time and we don't need any examination of the morals
of the characters.

So farewell to the Byrdes and thanks for the entertainment.

Better Call Saul (*****) Netflix
Got to be a toss up between this, Breaking Bad and The Sopranos for best ever series.

Slower story telling than the other two, beautiful camera work and skilled writing.

"Chicken man" remains a brilliant baddie, possibly the best ever?

And who'd have thought it would be Kim that helps transforming Jimmy into Saul?

A real treat!

Anatomy of A Scandal (*) or (****) Netflix

This would be politico sex scandal tale is so awful.

But does that mean it's so bad it's good? That could be, I'm not sure.

Except we have watched three episodes now. Toff is accused of doing bad
things to his assistant. Or did he?

Some silly light viewing if you won't want to think!

Graffiti up the road from us:

On the vote Conservative one: "Liars"

On the Lib dem one: "Paedos"

Looks like done by the same person, I am simply passing that on without comment!

Our porn MP claims he was looking for a dominator tractor when he accidentally
accessed porn.

We have to assume then he found some other kind of dominator.

My wife's name dot com is indeed a dominatrix.

Elizabethburns.com if you're interested!

Ps, roll up, I get 10p commission per spank.

As I have no idea anymore what any party stands for I wonder if we can separate out the parties like this:

Tories: Like getting spanked.

Labour: Does the spanking.

Lib Dem: Can't decide.

Greens: Don't care as long as the whip is recycled.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Podcast 5:

https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/

Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money, plus a £100 competition, top tens, spot the intros, nostalgia corner and loads of laughs. Plus experienced investors have tips for beginners and investment ideas - settle down and spend
some time with the Naked Trader!

It continues to be difficult and for now you need to be in the right stocks which is
easier said than done.

One of the main things is to steer clear of anything retail orientated.

Sadly a lot are in trouble because of logistics/inflation etc so I wouldn't be
tempted by what looks like cheap prices. Yet.

The small cap area has seen some panic with investors selling out of even good ones and
probably with patience those holding will see panic reside and buyers coming back soon.

At the online seminar we indeed saw quite a few bargains but mostly level 2
tended to put us off buying much for now though we got a good few potential future trades.

Record REC popped up on a couple of screens and I managed to pick up a few though not
that many using a direct market access trade live to get shares at the "sell" price beating the spread.

It scored 100/100 for quality on stockopedia which is unusual in itself.

It has a good bundle of net cash, and it pays a dividend of over 5% which is rather handy with inflation running away.

It's not without risk as it's in the FX market but compared to others in the same sector it looks
undervalued and I'd be hoping for a rise back up towards 100p in time.

How to buy things at better prices at DMA will be part of the next online seminar, date for
that has just been fixed for June 8th.

If you'd like to spend the day with live markets and make trades from my own live
accounts mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "June interested" in the subject line.

Sadly defence is one area that is rising and I have been buying this sector.

I already have Qinetic and Chemring so I thought I may as well add a big one along with these _ BAE Systems.

BAE is likely to be the one getting the bigger defence contracts and it seems worth owning.

It still looks cheap even though it's on the up and there is the additional attraction of a near 4% dividend.

It reported today and it looks fine, bit of profit taking then I'd have thought another rise.

Team 17 is a risky-ish one that popped up on a couple of screens at the seminar.

The video games industry shares have been under the cosh since lockdown ended.

People got hooked on games with nothing else to do.

It expects to lose about £2.5m profits from ending its Russian links.

If forecasts are right though, 2024 could see profits of over £50m and a cash pile of £100m which would make today's price look cheap.

It currently has a very decent cash pile which it could use for acquisitions.

So, overall, while risky given the share price has halved, with patience the low 400s could
end up a nice entry point.

As always though I'd be out and take a loss if it fell much below the 400p level.

There seems to be a lot of liquidity with this one and you can pretty much buy and sell as
many as you want up to around the £25k mark.

I made another top up in Telecom Plus TEP.

It is in a real sweet spot and announced March was especially good with record numbers
of customers and independent distributors signing up.

Looks like the dividend will be raised too and it's already giant.

My usual warning: I rarely have confirmation bias but do here, and hold a substantial number
of shares north of £400,000.

It's really my income share and I pick up enough per year to pay all my household bills and more.

If you would like to become a customer or distributor let me know.

As a customer you get great service from its UK call centre, decent prices and know it's not going to do a bust on you and then you have to transfer your energy etc.

If you would like to sign up via me let know and for your trouble you'd also get free my website subscription email.

As a distributor you get ongoing commission so say you sell to friends and family you pick
up commission every time they switch on a light or turn the cooker on!

It supplies energy, broadband, home phone, insurance, mobile phones all on one monthly bill
and has an energy supply agreement so rising prices don't affect its bottom line.

The future looks very bright with so many customers floating around looking for a new supplier after theirs went bust.

With a likely increased dividend and the fact it's breaking out over all time highs, it could mount a challenge on the 2000p level this summer.

So there is potential now not only for big income but also capital growth too.

I shorted Card Factory. Can't understand why it went up after the statement and looks
like a business in continual decline.

Indeed if you remember last time I said Joules, Superdry and Card were all empty and devoid
of much anyone really wanted to buy when I went to Windsor and am short of all three.

Big profits now at the Joules short, more in a mo on that.

Card Factory's report came with a lot of guff about how well it'll do by 2026 but I ignored all that and tried to find the net debt. Which was very hard!

It was all hidden miles down near the end of a very long statement helpfully found by my highlighter system - see naked trader 5 on how to run the highlighter.

Total debt is a staggering £263m. Talking out lease liabilities it is still a massive £107m.

Given profits of £11m this has a long way to go to be a company worth much.

I also added more to the Aston Martin short - the shares went up yesterday with a new boss
coming in.

But I think Aston is going to have to do a big fundraise to tackle its massive debt and so I
suspect that will be at a much lower price so I think there is more to come from a short.

And I've added more to the Uber short which has paid off bigtime so far.

Uber is being hit by all kinds of problems with costs going way up especially as it has to be
nicer to its drivers and pay the properly.

Meanwhile the short in Joules paid off.

In an awful statement, the head cheese fell on his sword and is heading off.

It will be a tough job to turn this around. I suspect there is a little further downside before
cashing in on the short.

The long-standing short in Boo Hoo has also paid off with various problems in its statement
yesterday pushing the shares down further.

We did discuss this one at the seminar - held by some attendees - unfortunately one or two of them had bought them after seeing tips for it a while back.

They'd bought the shares at 300p and 400p and STILL were holding despite all the falls.

A stop loss would have got them out of the shares at pretty much anytime and as I discussed in the psychology section once you bought something and it goes down it becomes impossible
to take the loss.

That's despite me pleading to always take losses.

Indeed I suggest go through any portfolio and cut anything down by more than 50% or else you will never sell them hoping and praying they will eventually go up again.

Get rid of them - you can always buy back another time!

Unless you are really convinced they are super quality and been oversold.

Having loads of massive losses in a portfolio is terribly demoralising and can even effect your life negatively outside trading.

I just had an email from one seminar attendee who says he has now taken the Boo loss. I am pleased!

A lot of problems have arisen for people following net tipsters/commentators/bulletin boards.

Said writers rarely sell at a loss and carry on holding/buying more leading to followers pumping more money in instead of using stops and getting out.

I've talked to people at seminars who've lost in some cases massive amounts.

Be very careful about following writers, including me. Research yourself and be disciplined by cutting trades that don't work out sooner than later.

Talking of taking losses I have taken some of my own.

Knights proved a falling knife rather than recovery play and was axed for a loss of £308.

Similar comment to Som, £331. Strange that one, it always looks so good but the price action says otherwise. There was a big dividend received which actually means I probably ended up around even.

Spi got knocked out by a trailing stop for a loss of £188.

IG went for a profit of £84. The reason I sold? I was making a phone trade with a different SB company who said they were "quiet" so I thought maybe the same with all the SB firms at the mo.

I topsliced indv taking a part profit of £614 on one of the positions after a good run. A £390 loss on K3 though still holding shares bought a lot lower. Could be a good entry price coming up as if nothing is wrong looks amazing value.

I came out of Fif for a small profit.

As the markets liked the Train statement I exited the short for a nice profit of over £3,000. Expect will be back in soon though!

Elsewhere Totally keeps announcing good news, we had a very good look at this one at the seminar.

Looks cheap even after rises and it has reported a lot of good things and this week says some major contracts have been renewed.

A bit of profit taking the last day or two and I'm waiting for that to end to pick up some more Totally.

Bloomsbury tries to consolidate above 400p, I have my fingers crossed for a bid!

Adf seems oversold in the smallcap selloff, if the ahead of still stands, again could be a nice entry price.

Sureserve is trying hard to break out, surely deserves to crack the 100p.

Remember to watch out for shares falling on Thursdays.

If they have gone ex dividend it could just be down to that so check stops are right!

It's that time of the year when you can add 20k into an isa.

It is an amazing tax perk and we are very lucky to have it, I am especially grateful and remember the feeling a while back when I made the first tax free million in one!

I use Barclays, IG and Interactive Investor for mine.

Interactive Investor have a referral thing for the moment so if you want £125 of fees
taken off let me know - available for anyone who invests 10k plus.

On the referral I apparently would get £200 into my account so a win win for both of us?

If you want to go for the referral and the money off email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you details of how we can do it.

Good luck to all of you in current volatile conditions. Maybe we can be lucky, hostilities
will cease and we get back to normal.

Money Week offer:

Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.

Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.

There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.

The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..

On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!

So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT

Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.

Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.

**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

If you are thinking of A ftse trade try https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
as their spread is the tightest at 0.8. Also very pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads there too.

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does: https://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
