**Date below is sold out - new date June 2nd**

Look forwards to meeting some of you online next week on the 26th.

You should get a questionnaire from me over the weekend and Elizabeth will send you the zoom link the evening of the 25th.

Just click on that from 9.45am on the 26th and Elizabeth will sign you in.

Hopefully you will enjoy an interesting day of live markets, a mosey round my accounts and lots of trade screening and ideas on how to run your isa.

There is still a little space, so email if you fancy a day with me and Elizabeth.

Had a lovely time abroad, but you don't want to hear about someone else's holiday surely.

Indeed no idea why you want to read about my life, I'd skip straight onto the markets section.

Oh hang on, you did that already.

There's nothing worse than a friend returning from holiday advancing upon you with a held out phone.

You know you're going to have to pretend to be interested in their holiday snaps.

Especially when you know they're about to brag about somewhere they've been that's off the beaten track.

"Look, this is me in front of an African rare tiger in the middle of the desert."

The only thing you can do is say "wow" a lot wondering how you can distract them and get them to take their phone away.

I can't even fight back and say "Look at this, this is me outside Tescos after buying some pasta!" as I don't have a phone.

Which means I'm not going to get the trial Government panic alert on Sunday.

Oh well, never mind.

I'm going to record a new podcast shortly (about time it's been over a year since the last).

I'm as usual looking for contributions and there's two £50 prizes for the best two.

Email me with anything but happy to take your best joke.

No long winded ones though, the best short, snappy and funniest joke gets £50. Or a funny line, or a decent witty something.

And there's another £50 for a non joke contribution.

What's your favourite share and why? What's the share in your portfolio you love the most?

What's the worst one you ever bought?

Is there a share you think is overlooked tell me about it.

Is there a big mistake you made in your life you'd like to admit to?

And what's your favourite upbeat summer song?

Either drop your joke or comment to me on email or send me a voicenote or a voice contribution on any form of voice recording.

Please keep any voice recordings to a max of a minute.

Email with "podcast joke or contribution" to robbiethetrader@aol.com

Good to meet a few of you at the last event.

Thanks for the lovely feedback like this from Chris:

"What a great day! Thanks so much for the effort and time you both put in.

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long.

Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

Too many best bits to mention, but I was impressed that you had read all the questionnaires and had something to say about each one.

Also, I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener.

Thanks Chris, we so enjoyed it.

Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Naked Rambling

Wow. The Bank of England now declares cash is no longer King and will become less useable in the future.

Instead the Bank ought to be saying "Your cash must legally be accepted wherever you choose to use it".

Why do you think the powers that be want to get rid of cash as soon as possible?

Because they are no doubt aware that at some point in the future there will probably be a massive crash.

Then they can turn to "negative interest rates".

This means in effect they can take regular money out of your account probably saying "this will save the nhs".

Think this is far fetched? No, it already happened in Cyprus.

Once cash has gone there will be no non-electrical backup.

This is just one of many future problems without the folding stuff.

Guess what Russia will try and do? Yep - knock out the payment systems and with no cash backup think of the chaos.

The powers that be will also know everything you do with your money and will be able to take "fines" straight out of your accounts.

What if there are electric shortages? What if your phone stops working or you get hacked?

Do you really want no paper back up?

It will only be when we lose it, we'll realise we lost our freedoms.

And why should many be pushed into non cash when they don't want to be?

How about the fun of handing over a tenner to a grandchild? I could go on.

What about budgeting? In the "good old days" you'd have your cash for the week, if you couldn't afford a takeaway then you couldn't have it.

Nothing we can do and it will be really fast.

It will happen when one of the big supermarkets gets bribed to stop taking cash.

The rest will then follow and that will be the end of it. So there.

For the first time in recent memory as a Fulham FC fans, we can enjoy the relegation race knowing it definitely won't be us for a change.

Looks like Southampton have blown it. Notts Forest also look doomed.

The last slot is hard to call. Everton or Leeds? Shame for both as they are clubs with passionate support.

Frankly, and sorry if you are a Leeds fan but I hope it's Leeds because the fans sing "We all love Leeds" for the whole game and it's really annoying.

Fulham fans don't bother making a noise, we're too busy stuffing our faces with prawn sandwiches and quinoa salads.

Beef **** Netflix
Entertaining comedy that begins as a road rage spat but soon builds to a neat social satire.

Nice short 30 min episodes as the tension between the two protagonists build.

Good fun and plenty of entertaining lines.

Colin from Accounts **** BBC 2
Surprisingly addictive sit com from Australia.

The husband and wife writing team are also the stars of the show.

It's droll more than funny and there is plenty of wit with great deadpan performances.

Triangle of Sadness ***** Amazon (my movie of the year so far)
I can't remember the last time I laughed so much at a movie.

I was literally helpless. It was the height of cruise sickness when a pissed passenger takes over the mike and tells everyone the boat is going down.

It's a clever movie, won a couple of awards. Mainly about power and money.

Having had a terrible time on a cruise once, the characters and happenings all appeal. It's a winner!

Nobody *** Netflix
Better Call Saul himself Bob Odenkirk stars as a meek family man who soon reveals his bad side.

Yes it's like Saul Goodman playing Breaking Bad's Walter.

Lots of silly fight scenes and witty one liners and you really root for Bob.

Succession ***** Sky Atlantic (Spoilers ahead)
It's the one we've been waiting for, the death of Logan, a bit earlier than expected.

I read a spoiler before seeing it but even so a cracking episode as the kids try to come to terms with the death of dad.

Worst for the brilliant Roman who called his Dad a CU Next Tuesday on a phone message just before the death.

The last few episodes should be great as the kids fight to see who takes over... who will come out on top?

My money's on Greg.

Dreamland * Sky Atlantic

I managed 5 minutes before giving up, I don't mind purile but just too much too fast.

The 5 mins was just terrible and full of cliched characters.

And Lily Allen, is well, Lily Allen. There's just so much better around.

Don't go wasting your precious time as the Spice Girls once wisely sang.

Richi Sunak reckons kids should study maths all the way to age 18.

In my view, this new policy simply does not add up.

A new "erection gel" has been launched in chemists.

Apparently competition for these gels is getting quite stiff.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

I had to stare very hard at my premium bonds online.

Usually I get two £25 prizes, sometimes also a £50 and the odd £100.

So when it said "£5,000" this month I couldn't quite believe it.

But it really was. And they pay up promptly.

So far this year then for my 50k investment I've picked up about
6k. So that's about 12%, and it's tax free so a lot more than that.

What can I say? If you have a spare 50k, get some bonds!

Amazing us humans.

Just a month ago we were all in a funk over a US bank in trouble.

Now the fear went as far as it came and greed is back.

We've got short memories. When our holdings go down it's as if they will never rise again.

Now they're going up we're all happy. Keep it going, let's go greed!

Suddenly there are a load of takeovers. Well done if you got one.

Takeovers in the last few days include The Hut Group, Network International, Dechra and John Wood.

Yes, drat. I didn't hold any of these. Frankly if I had, I'd gratefully have sold them in case the bids didn't go through.

The weird thing for me is in all these cases, none of these shares looked great value.

In fact none of these shares appealed much as investments.

Indeed some had big debts and didn't look amazing takeover cases which is why I didn't have them.

The Hut Group especially, I guess I was lucky I wasn't short of that as it looked like a great short.

Amazing someone wants to buy this basket case.

Now I'm looking at a few FTSE 250 shares where prices have come down a lot because of not such great trading thinking: should I be buying up a few just for a bid potential?

Because it seems some of these shares are getting bought even though the fundamentals look nothing special.

Maybe Gb Group? Indivior? Both are in similar sectors to the buyouts. Then I wondered about Watches of Switzerland.

A plumb FTSE 250 share but its share price has halved and I wonder whether that would make it an interesting target for a predator.

After all it has a great market in Rolex and the like and in jewellery.

Luxury watches are still in big demand and other companies dealing in luxury items have reported well recently.`

Its rating having halved I think I'd be keen on buying the whole lot at this price if I had a few billion to spare.

So I've bought WOSG and also some GB Group with the same thought that this share price has more than halved too after a bad acquisition and now there is potential for a bid.

GB did actually get bid for a while back and it fell through so potentially at a much cheaper price it could look interesting for a predator.

Another potential is Spire Healthcare which got bid for a while back.

I've topped up here as it does look like an interesting bid target contender.

On top of that with the NHS is a parlous state, it is picking up a lot of work especially in its private GP practices.

You're got to be careful looking for bid targets as you might end up buying a shocker.

It's guesswork and a bit of luck in the end.

I bought some Portmeirion PMP as it looked ultra cheap, though it has gone up since I got some.

The rating amazingly still looks cheap - I guess maybe making earthenwear and fragrances is seen as a bit dull? Not exactly a tech share.

It makes its stuff in the UK which is rather nice and makes a change.

A final div of 12p went ex today causing a fall so maybe not a bad time to buy, though it means I now get the dividend.

I suspect it won't be cheap for a lot longer. Downside? Well, you could argue if inflation stays high then margins might suffer.

After we used Easyjet and realised how much prices have gone up and how desperate people are to get a holiday this year I bought some shares.

I find trying to value airliners is impossible so I don't try - my idea is to buy for 2-3 months for a likely rise and then take profits.

It's all very clever, you get a price for your flight say £300.

After all the extras like being allowed to breathe on the flight it ends up as £500.

But you still pay it, after all you want that holiday and BA is more expensive and probably crap and will lose your bag. Downside? Shares are very volatile and things like spikes in the oil price could cause more problems.

Easy issued a very positive statement earlier this week, and I suspect the shares will continue to take off, for a short while at least.

I made a nice few quid on LBG Media a while back and have tried to repeat this trade, and maybe hold for a bit longer this time.

LBG media is a digital youth publisher which has a growing presence particularly on Tik Tok, a platform which teenagers can spend a whole day on.

Indeed, it now reckons it's the number one news publisher on Tik Tok.

Forecasts if they're right could lead to some nice price action.

Downside? Maybe LBG won't be able to crack the US, it is a competitive market or of course this kind of market can be fickle.

I added to one of these, an unsung (thank goodness) share Iqgeo. (IQG)

Terrible name but never mind.

It provides software for telecoms and utility operators and profit forecasts look good.

It is definitely not cheap. However given its prospects it could make a bid target and I'm prepared to stump up the premium price.

It reported this week winning a "significant" contract for a tier one USA telecoms operator.

If it can keep on winning contracts from rivals then the high rating looks justified.

My hopes for this one is it continues to gently rise from time to time and I expect to hold it for maybe a couple of years unless question marks appear.

Downside? Any sign profits won't increase as per forecasts and the share could quickly slump.

Qinetic (QQ.) is a share I have gradually built a stake in and I have bought some more.

This high quality defence outfit has issued a very bullish statement this week.

There are lots of big contract wins in both the UK and Australia.

It said it has had a very strong quarter with guidance ahead of the upper range of expectations.

I do wonder also whether this one could be a bid target at some point given it looks value.

My attempt to play a trading range in Begbies failed for a loss of £182. But with insolvencies up I'm looking for another go at it when the order book shows bigger buyers.

What else is going on?

Me Group MEGP announced an extra dividend today which is a good sign and these shares continue to look good value and seem to be on a continued upwards slope.

Argentex produced some nice results. Of course as is usual these days profit takers swooped in, taking the price down so it looks a good time to top up.

Argentex looks good value to others in its sector but it is very volatile as its shares are traded on the order book.

For newer market participants a little warning about videos/podcasts etc where people excitedly talk about shares and an "interviewer" talks to company bosses.

Mostly, interviews with companies are paid for by the companies. Therefore don't expect any objectivity.

Indeed some companies pay money to people to push their shares everywhere they can.

These paid pushers then go on all the popular discussion forums to pump those shares, publishing all positive stuff about them.

So you could simply be buying on the say of someone on a bulletin board who is getting paid to push the shares. They are good at their job and paid to be seductive.

Also be careful of events and online events where companies present to you.

These events are all businesses and the companies pay to present.

Because these companies are paying to be there don't expect anything but positive coverage.

I've seen much way too positive coverage of companies that are too risky and the negatives are never pointed out to newer investors.

Take everything said with a massive pinch of salt.

And also consider: why are these companies paying so much for promotion?

If you're a company with great results and prospects there is no need to do this, the figures speak for themselves.

Do your own screens, look only at cold hard figures and make a decision from those and not because of comments from others.

I'll be doing lots of cold hard figure looking and screening on Wednesday's online seminar, if you want to join mail me.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes.
