We will soon be "getting down on it".
Stop it. Not that. To the live sounds of Kool and the Gang.
We have booked some tickets with a few friends for Hampton Court in June just before we meet a few of you for our trading/investing retreat in Palma. (Both June and Sept dates are now sold out but mail me if you want to be on the waiting list.)
Saw them live many years ago and they are great.
Thing with them is they have so many hits you can enjoy the whole thing.
What I mean is you go some gigs and you've got to wait till the end for the two big hits you wanted all along.
The rest of it being filler "from the new album".
Kool and the Gang must have 20 classics so every tune is a guaranteed winner.
I'm sure we won't be disappointed and we expect to Celebrate good times, come on.
It's Easter hols time and we've decided to go crazy and head for somewhere new before the new term starts. Seville for a few days.
Obviously the only reason to go there is to pick up some Seville Orange marmalade.
Son is home from school with one term left to go which means I have to send just one last £12k off to the school. Hurrah, free of school fees forever and out before vat gets added by the new Lab govt.
He's not going to university, he wants to be a millionaire asap and who am I stop him?
Frankly I reckon university is a waste of time unless say you want to be a lawyer or doctor or something in that area.
My school could not believe it when I refused to go after getting a place and opted for a year at a journalist college in Harlow instead.
I just didn't want to fart about for three years writing tedious long essays - I wanted to be part of the working world rightaway.
Worked out for me as three years later I was editing the local paper and those that had been to uni were asking me for "work experience".
Frankly after three years at Uni they had no idea how to talk to people and it was hard work trying to train them.
My son certainly has determination! Got to the last 30 for The Apprentice (maybe next time!), and he's been busy already working away on his personal training site and going to networking events.
He also went out at 7.30am on a Sunday delivering Utilities Warehouse leaflets trying to pick up business.
Sadly for him his efforts came to naught, I have explained to him if he wants to earn commission getting people to switch energy, phone, broadband etc he needs to talk them into it.
People don't read stuff coming through the letterbox, I pointed out and it would go right in the bin even through they would save money by taking the services.
Once you actually chat to someone and they can see the benefits then you have a chance.
Anyway if you'd like to give him a leg up and switch energy or something else (You really will save) drop me a mail. As a gift from me for doing it my subscription email would be yours forever free.
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "UW switch interested" in the subject line.
Good to meet a few of you at the last event.
Thanks for the lovely feedback like this from Chris:
"What a great day! Thanks so much for the effort and time you both put in.
I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long.
Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
Too many best bits to mention, but I was impressed that you had read all the questionnaires and had something to say about each one.
Also, I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener.
Thanks Chris, we so enjoyed it.
Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:
"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!
Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.
"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."
Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.
Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.
"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.
Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:
"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.
I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.
I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....
.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"
Naked Rambling
Ray Kurzwell famous for making predictions that come true reckons within 8 years humans will achieve immortality.
But of course this will inevitably be cobblers and if it isn't do you really want to live for ever?
Apparently robots will make it happen which is even scarier. I'm out.
So glad those that be are looking at banning "fruity" vapes.
Unbelievably some of these vapes have pix of fruit on them.
Kids are being targeted with fruit flavours making them seem actually healthy.
Hey kids, you're just breathing in fruit vapours!
Anyone with kids at school will know vaping is rife and disposable healthy looking vapes are everywhere. Get rid!
Supporting Fulham FC you have to understand "Fulhamish"
Usually just as something is going well, something happens out of the blue to screw it up.
So no surprise when it looked like amazingly FFC is in the top ten and heading for an FA cup surprise, guess what something happens.
On this occasion it looked like Man U were about to taste defeat.
How could Fulham screw it up with a few mins to go?
I know, how's about a hand ball, followed by three red cards as the manager and the best player go psycho?
But it's ok, we are used to it. We can take it! Honestly.
Succession ***** Sky Atlantic
Hugely anticipated final chapter for this brilliant satire of big corporate business and more importantly the most dysfunctional family since The Sopranos.
It didn't let us down. Some more wonderful scenes as the 4 siblings make an uneasy alliance to try and seal a deal against much hated daddy.
Of course Roman gets all the best lines, a great part to play.
I'll stop here in case you've not seen it yet but wouldn't like to spoil it.
Picard ** Amazon
Coming towards the end for ever probably of Next Generation boldly going where everyone has already been.
They are going for it with all the old faves including Data, Beverly, Worf, Deanna, Ro, you name it, there's a comeback.
But this is probably for NG fans only as it is full of terrible lines and spelt out exposition if you haven't ever seen it.
Still, it's a nice ending and take out disbelief at the silly plots it's a fond farewell. Just don't bring it back ever again. Make that so.
Faking Hitler **** All 4
Go seek this out, you will not be disappointed.
Absolute hoot from beginning to the end now I've seen the whole lot.
The story of how Stern Magazine and by proxy the Sunday Times got hoodwinked into publishing the badly made fake diaries is almost unbelievable. It actually happened!
A tale of greed, confirmation bias and many egos is one well worth watching.
Rise and Fall * Ch4
An epic fail of a reality show with nothing new or interesting.
We're getting deluged with reality and maybe enough is enough.
There are probably no new formats left unless we're going down the Squid Game route, which with some of the contestants does feel quite alluring.
Great Expectations ** BBC 1
I didn't have great expectations of this adaptation which is just as well.
Date dot com reckons there is a new man in town that the girls (and boys) want.
Bald guys! Yes, that's really what it says according to its survey. Oh, and short guys too!
It's what I have always realised, men with hair suck! It's so unhygienic.
And at last it's being understood due to our high testosterone levels we are brilliant in bed.
And for good measure in bed we also baldly go where no one has gone before.
If you see someone with a continual smile on their face, trust me: their partners are bald.
An entirely unexpected headline today:
"Dublin's only alcohol free bar closes its doors".

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets
Last week markets were terrified and most investors were hiding behind the sofa as it looked like a new banking crisis was about to tear us apart.
But, as they had to, the powers that be ensured Silicon Valley Bank was bought up.
After the 2008 crisis banks had to endure stress tests and they are stronger now.
It took a few days but now investors are back out from behind the sofa and piling in again.
(Before inevitably some other crisis ensues and it's a pile out and back behind the sofa).
As usual I tried to follow proceedings. As the markets started to recover the FTSE and DAX shorts got stopped out into a reasonable profit.
I also closed out a short or two, as with shorts if you go against the market you can do some serious damage.
As I mentioned last time buying at the height of some kind of crisis usually pays off.
Unless it's something like covid or war starting.
But a bank crisis.. it was a reasonable bet it would blow over fairly quickly.
In hindsight, those who stayed cool, relaxed and did nothing are probably the winners.
Some nice investing ideas came out of the seminar last week, nice to see some "old faces"!
Though frankly Ben, I am jealous of that hair of yours...
There were one or two "now" ideas and quite a few trades to be executed at the right time.
One we discussed with our special guest at the seminar was Equals.
As discussed last time for now if you like a company and you've made good profits sell before results and buy back after profit taking.
But if you like one and it's fallen before results then buy it before those results as long as you're sure said results are unlikely to be a disaster.
So as we chatted payments group Equals looked a decent buy idea before results as it had fallen quite a bit and I bought some.
Results were decent. It swung into a good profit with year end cash up to £18m.
Management reckon trading is ahead of current expectations.
Looking for this one to head back up and hopefully over the 100p area.
I bought some Big Tech. (BIG) My idea on this one is to stick it away in the isa for 2-3 years unless a question mark appears.
It is definitely not cheap - it is highly rated but I think I am prepared to pay for that because the forecasts ahead show a company growing nicely in a liked area of the market.
There's also plenty of cash and always big buyers around under the price on level 2.
Remote monitoring of people is only likely to increase and the company as well as increasing profits has stormed it on net cash which is up at £66m which gives room for acquisitions.
Hoping this one will be a slow and steady grower.
One to leave in the isa for as long as possible for gradual gains - a catalyst for a bigger re-rating could be some deals/acquisitions.
Maybe Big will... just slowly carry on quietly getting bigger.
There were a lot of big buyers on the order book at the seminar and the same today.
I spotted a statement from TinyBuild yesterday. This share has cratered since it launched on the market last year all the way down from 300p to 50p.
I'm always wary of buying companies that have tanked as it means there have been problems but sometimes they are worth looking at as a recovery play.
I think I'd have left it if it had debt but as it has net cash, that made me interested.
This video games outfit has seen a good increase in profits but decrease in net cash.
Taking the figures at face value then, this business now looks well undervalued and probably deserves a re-rating upwards of 20-25% which is what I'm after.
So weighing it all up Tinybuild looks like a potential nice winner.
YU Group is deservedly on the re-bound. Looks like it was taken down by profit takers and in and out traders but on the way back up and should have a lot of upside.
Which makes me realise I hold YU & ME ...Next buy will have to be a company called THEM. Then US.
Argentex, in a similar biz to Equals got sold off in a panic during the banking crisis and this was a great chance to top up with level 2 being a great help.
BAE Systems was another average up - this share just keeps on performing!
Elsewhere Iqgeo put out a good report, a nice under the radar one which looks like a decent long-term hold.
Sureserve was liked by a lot at the follow up seminar last week, and level 2 looked good.
Showed how handy level 2 is, because it rose strongly by the afternoon. Shares look worth a lot more and remain too lowly rated.
Shorts in Bog, Enog and Psn were closed out by trailing stops as they started to rise as the crisis receded. Profits of £1,213, 444 and 1,380. Gb got stopped for a loss of £350.
I shorted Moonpig some more as it went up a lot today.
I've been short of this more or less since its float.
Trouble here is the terrible debt loaded up in there.
It's going to have to sell an awful lot of online cards to pay it down.
I'm always inundated with forex trading providers and trainers wanting ads or affiliate deals.
It's always a no from me as I know in the main all their clients will lose and they just get rinsed as anyone short-term trading/forex trading "Technical analysis" trading always lose.
For a laugh (for me) I agreed to a meeting with one this week. In return I get a very expensive lunch (heh heh).
Of course I'll say no (after I finished the lunch).
I'm interested in the sort of shady characters that show up.
Excitingly they just sent me an agenda (lol) and I am not kidding "Head of Making Decisions" will be there. Straight out of W1A !
The only thing is I'm making the decision as I am the official Head of Making Decisions for this website.
Looking forwards to the answer to my question "Given nearly all your customers lose do you think morally it's ok for me to take your money?"
Blokes just love Forex and also "technical analysis".
Women avoid it because they are brainier and realise it's a silly pile of male pants. (I was going to add here "which they end up ironing" but realised that was not only terribly dated but might get me cancelled). (Though honestly name me any male that's ironed pants, come on).
What blokes want is lovely jargon. Golden cross is a favourite and something about MACD crossovers. Signals! Yes give me some signals! They'll always work!
After 23 years in this business I still haven't met anyone who has ever made big money from "Technical Analysis".
What happens is excited blokes get caught up in it, end up totally overtrading, short-term and day trading, and eventually do their brains.
They get led into it by Technical Analysis "gurus" who simply rinse their pupils and repeat.
The only way to make proper money on the markets is longer-term holding of great shares, cutting losers before they kill you and learning to be a bit "streetwise" in timing buys and sells.
A reminder you have just a few days left to add to your isa if you want to use this year's tax allowance.
Good news is if you have 40k to invest you can stick 20k in now and 20k in the forthcoming tax year.
It is an amazing tax break, use it. I'm one of the few isa millionaires, it can be done - with patience.
If you want me to show you how to construct an isa portfolio join me for the beginners/improvers online seminar on April 26th.
You'll see my isa accounts live, what's in them and how I trade from them.
There is a decent early bookers discount at the mo - if interested in joining me for a day online on the 26th mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April interested" in the subject line.
I discovered something I never knew when out last night at a friend's dinner party when I chatted to someone at the table.
If you bought a property in the last 4 years and there was any sort of defect you can get a refund on some of the stamp duty you paid.
This is things like roof leaks, subsidence, structural issue, damp, unsafe electric, heating problem, or anything you can reasonably argue as a "defect".
Too late for us and I wish I had known about it a few years ago as when we bought our property as there were some defects and I never knew you could get some tax refund.
The chap I spoke to specialises in getting refunds and reckons he's got a decent percentage back for some.
There's nothing to lose - he sorts out your claim, does the donkey work then takes a cut of your rebate.
He gave me examples. One person who bought a £1.5m house got a £27,000 rebate out of £90,000 duty paid. Another got £13k back out of duty of £23,000.
If you think you may fall into this category where you bought a property with problems mail me and I'll pass you his details.
Be interesting if one of you does get some money back, and I'll report back if this happens.
If the above is all common knowledge then apologies and I'm a numpty.

https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader to open an account under Dymitry.
***Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
I really can recommend it as it is a big help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
