If you buy the print copy you get the e-book free! The book is a total update since the last one which I wrote in 2011.There are tons of ideas, trader stories, psychology, biggest trading mistakes and 20 trading strategies to make money. Also loads of stuff I have learned over the last three years. New insights into trading tax free, tons of examples, a whole load of new traders' tales and some of the trades that have helped to make me well over £2 million tax free.

Due to us being away a lot over half-term and a potentially
ropey net connection in Cornwall and also a visit to Spain the next update will be
Thursday November 5th - expect fireworks!

Update Oct14Th

Thanks to all of you who emailed worried about my little tummy op!

Glad to say it all went well, get results next week but been told that there is
no major problem that can't be sorted out with a pill.

So I am feeling a lot better and much happier! The op was a bit uncomfortable but not painful. So onwards and upwards and thank you all for your kindness in asking about me and I'll be here for many years to come!!

Yet again I look forwards to seeing some of you in the next few days....

Be great to see some regulars at the follow up seminar tomorrow and the TA seminar
on Saturday - I hope we can unearth some great trades and can't wait to
find out which share ideas you have for me to dissect.

And on Monday it's the extra seminar date for those that missed out on September's
sold out event...

We'll be starting from 10am, with plenty of chat, live trading, research and a whole lot more... If you missed it, a reminder there is a new date not too far away on November 2nd so come and spend a day with me then - nice low price as there is a special offer see above.

I really enjoyed the September seminar - some really lovely people and a great
atmosphere I thought summed up by delegate who wrote to me:

" I really enjoyed it, it was educational, great fun - had some great laughs, entertaining and above all inspirational. I now have a great feeling of confidence for my future trading and a clear mind as to how I am going to approach it.

Many questions and small matters were answered throughout the day and so various confusions and uncertainties I had previously fogging my mind, have been cleared. I met some friendly and interesting people too!

I also enjoyed your hospitality too, some really nice touches, you can't go wrong with chocolate waffles and all the other treats to keep you going through the day".

And I have to say a bit thank you to someone who kindly brought some Yorkshire T Bags to the event which I gladly used - I did share honest! Hotels always use Twinings which is horribly weak.
I can hardly believe our school does a two week October half-term but we are
going to make the most of it with a few days in Cornwall and in Spain (and some at home).

I can't even remember how I got roped into going to Cornwall at all. Last time was a few years ago and it was nice in the summer, not so sure about near wintertime.

We're going with some parents from school along with their kid too, who Christopher
gets on with. I think it's cottages or something and no idea what we'll do there either. Maybe some adventures but I suspect a lot of walking in fields! And scones?

By the way thanks to all of you who wrote in with interesting comments
about my high cholesterol reading- the summary is readers, some of you medics
felt there was no need to take statins as long as everyone thing else was ok.

If you would like to come to the next seminar..it is on Mon Dec 7th
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Dec seminar interested". There is a decent early bookers discount on offer.

Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!

My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.

A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!

Here's some feedback from from "D"

'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.

The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.

This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News

DECEMBER 7TH NEAR HEATHROW

Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on December 7th

Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a decent early bird discount on offer. Mail for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "jUNE seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling

Looks like Georgie Boy Osbourne might be the one to become the next Tory leader. He's doing his best not to appear like the sneaky
school deputy head boy.

Possibly people are starting to tire of Boris
Johnson's antics. Theresa May just looks a bit too scary.

In the meantime uncle Jeremy is enjoying his time in the limelight asking for as all to be kind. Trouble is it's easy to promise people lots of money
investment and all.

But a blank credit card would soon see us end up
like Greece. It's easy to be "kind" and spend the taxpayers money
but when you run out everyone suffers and that definitely isn't kind.

The spitting by the leftie crowd really does them no credit.
There is no need for that, it's vile.

Joy of joys - Robert Peston is going to ITV. As I find him to be
totally incomprehensible and very annoying this is great
news as I don't watch ITV news.

I guess I am still scared of him
because everytime he used to come on the TV shares went
further downhill... I am sure you can't wait to tune in to Peston's new Sunday morning TV show.. Yes, me neither!

A survey reveals people waste nearly four hours of a working day... not doing work.. Yes, the allure of Facebook and Twitter et al.

I remember when I was a media/journalist boss back at Sky when the internet started up - my first thought?

S***. The staff aren't going to do any work once this is loaded up on their computers...." And so it came to pass...

It wasn't long till everytime I got near things seem to disappear from the screens....

It's great news sales of real books are rising again and sales of kindles are falling off a cliff. I did notice on holiday over the summer nearly everyone had proper books and weren't using e-readers.

Waterstones is reducing the amount of space given to those and increasing space for books again. There's nothing like a book is there?

No need to charge it up. You always pick up where you left off. Sometimes old technology can be better than new!

S Come Dancing remains fun though do tend to speed through it on sky plus as there is a lot of filler.

My bet on Anita Rani is in very good profit on the spreads! I bought her at 4 and she's now on 10 - I think I'll stick with the bet for now.

The Dr Foster series was a bit silly with tons of holes but an enjoyable bunny boiler finale. A bit of a warning to blokes who fancy a fling, watch out!

Getting towards the end of House of Cards on Nexflix, highly enjoyable political drama and Narcos on Netflix remains very entertaining.

I wouldn't normally watch a "Sky One" comedy as you'd imagine them to be total crap but had a go at You Me and the Apocolpyse and was pleasantly surprised. It's a lot of fun, the story goes along quickly and there is no slack!. I'm in!

You just know when Lord Alan is all over every newspaper with interviews it means another series of The Apprentice. Tricky one.

I'd like to say "Pah" to it, I'm not watching as it's a silly formula designed for Sir A's ego. However unfortunately it is fun watching total prats with massive egos running around while the piss is taken out of them.

It always amazes me that people still enter this show when they surely must see if they get accepted chances are they are a total pillock about to be made fun of. Anyhow I have to admit, I'll be watching.

It's been reported humans often feel sad after having sex..

I can't say I have time to feel sad as I'm too busy lying there
wondering:

"Is there a twix in the house and if there is, where is it?"

Good place for spreadbets and fixed odds for sport is here...

Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.

I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.

Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.

The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.

I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!

Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!

Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !

Thanks Gabriel!

Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.

I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Dan writes :

Markets

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

*If you don't read my stuff above next update is Nov 5th*

The idiotic volatility doesn't really affect me much, my lot don't move like the FTSE shares to and I'm not into the volatile ones. It has been bonkers

In my opinion most of it is caused by computers, geeks, algorithms and madness of crowd stops.

Stuff goes down then down more as the machines hit instructions to sell. Stuff then goes up and then up more as the opposite happens.

If you can ignore all this nuttiness you'll find in the end, if you're in a good one it's a matter of patience waiting either for a bid or for the right price to eventually emerge.

The market right now is determined to be a casino and take your chips - best to get out quick if you're in volatile stocks without letting stops being hit first. I've bought some Avesco (AVS) yesterday.

It provides services to the corporate presentation, entertainment and broadcast markets.

It has some very lucrative contracts including sports events. It has had an amazing few months and leapt into a very good profit from a loss and looks like a company on a roll.

Despite recent rises it still looks very cheap indeed. Even better is that the next report should be good as they've said current trading continues ahead of expectations.

The fly in the ointment is net debt is on the high side however it is well covered by its net assets so it isn't going bust. All in all it looks like it's about to get another re-rating. Currently it's in a trading range of 200 ish to 230 ish - a break up through 230 would be a very bullish sign. Directors have been buying recently.

As usual at seminars one or two shares come up I'd never have found lazing around at home...

I liked the look of Gama Comms (GAMA) - one that came up late on at the seminar on a screen and which I bought the day after.

Gama is all about internet connections for businesses. What I like especially are the recent bullish statements coming from the company.

I am also keen on the very nice cash pile it has to perhaps acquire other companies, any statement to this effect could give it a sudden nice re-rating upwards..

I like the look of Next Fifteen (NFC) and I've also bought some of this one. This digital communications outfit, like Gama Comms, keeps producing very bullish noises - strong revenue growth is coming from their north american businesses. There's also better margins coming in the UK and Asia. All in all looks like a lovely one.

Diploma (DPLM) came up as a potential recovery play at the seminar and I snapped some of them up the day after the seminar.

Tough industrial markets have hit this stock but it looks overdone and I'm looking for a rise back up to 720-750 ish.

Directors certainly agree and interesting that they have been snapping up shares. Interestingly for me this is more of a shorter-term play for me and I'd expect to be out quite soon.

I took up my rights for new ETO shares at 153p. Rights issues are a bit confusing - you get offered new shares in a company at a way lower price. But the headline price comes down quite a lot too.

So while it looks like in your account you have a heavy loss you don't really. You can either sell your rights in the market or buy them. As I took mine, I will have new shares in ETO at 153p.

Same thing happened recently with Optimal Payments - what tends to happen is the share price is depressed for a while but as long as it's a decent company it soon goes back up.

With Optimal when I took up rights it all looked a bit bleak but a few weeks later, the shares have surged, the same I think will happen with ETO. A bit of patience and there is tons to be made,

I think buying up Peppa Pig is a good move for ETO. I bet Mummy Pig bought some.... (Daddy Pig obviously is too stupid and would have sold his shares and not realised he had the rights either. Silly Daddy). (Thanks goodness I don't have to watch it anymore). With the price depressed, there is a chance I think of bid action too. Why not have a go at a lower price if you're a big media or TV company looking for assets like this on the cheap?

I bought back into Poundland (PLND) on the dip as I mentioned I was looking to do - looks good value under 3 quid. This morning I bought a few more Energy Assets (EAS) on a strange dip - I put a direct market order in at 475.25 and got them, thus no spread for me, effectively getting them at the sell price. I couldn't see any reason for the drop so assume a fat finger trade or a messy seller in a not so liquid market.
I top sliced a little Nah as it's done so well but held onto most of it. So for the site I took profit on one of the positions making it a profit of £748.

The Dominos spreadbet has gone well, and I think the time has come to take profits on it so I did banking a profit of £1,420. That's total profits for the site of £2,168

Recent buys are going pretty well. Powerflute has gone up nicely and should
get up and over 100p at some point soon though will probably take some pushing.

Regenersis trade has worked a treat and already up very nicely indeed.

The same for Alumasc which continues with its rerating and seems to be settling at over 200p. Kainos too is on a nice upward curve after a bit of a wobble.

Photo-me is holding nicely in the mid 150s after a little riseand P2P2 has been rising gently. Iomart has released a tremendous statement which I thought was very bullish and has pushed the price up nicely this week. Now us holders are very glad the previous bid never went through. Any bidder will have to be looking at 350-400.

Renew has done well now over 300 and holds nicely in choppy markets..it came up with a good enough statement this week, more than enough to keep me in.

Pets At Home has made me purr this year personally up more than £20,000
as those of you who came to the seminar saw on the spreadbets!

Optimal Pay has had an excellent few days - seems to have left 300 well behind. The lovely GB Group just keeps on going and been in since 20p.
To see it with another nought on the end is sensational. I still think it will end up
being bid for - but in the meantime sits at highs.

A long-termer Avon continues to put out decent statements and have made a fortune from it though a shame I sold out of some of it lower down.

FOR SMALL COMPANIES:

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Capital Spreads offer

Capital Spreads offers a really excellent book on spreadbetting for those who open accounts through the link below. Spreads are very tight and every trade has to have a stop loss which is excellent discipline to have especially for beginners. Execution is really good I find and they also allow shorts on shares it is hard to get shorts on like say Carpetright or facebook.

Telecom Plus Offer

Want to quit the rat race? Try and start a new source of income so one day you can tell the boss to stuff it? You could do what I did to escape my grotty office job and become an independent distributor for the Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
