A busy two weeks with two online events coming up. Beginners/improvers Dec 1 and follow up/advanced Dec 8th.

I will be back with a bumper update with some of the trades that came up at both events on Dec 13 which will be the next update. Also be a look ahead to 2022.

Those of you attending the Dec 1 seminar you'll be getting a questionaire over the weekend, not compulsory but does help me to know what we'll do on the day, be grateful if you could return asap. Those on the follow up/advanced will be sending you some homework next week. Look forwards to seeing you all on both days.

Dec And Follow Up Are Now Sold Out

New beginners, improvers date Jan 19 - mail for details.

The department store is well and truly dead.

We went to buy some clothes for our son's birthday to House of Fraser at Westfield Shopping Centre.

Goodness, hardly a staff member or a customer to be seen anywhere. How much must they be losing.

We bought a load of clothes anyhow till the cashier said the returns policy had changed, to summarise, forget about being able to change the clothes if they did not fit.

So we gave up and no sale for HOF. I wonder if they changed returns policy because they will probably be gone after Xmas.

The dummies in there are super scary. Like Dr Who monsters. Was rather glad to escape.

Mask wearing seems to be 50-50 in the shopping centre. You can see the frowns of the righteous against the infidel non wearers. Lots of tutting.

Regarding the sale of the car - I let it go for a grand. A mate of a mate offered it. Considering the lack of an mot and tax and some scratches on it, it's a fair deal all round.

He's coming to pick it up on Saturday - interesting to chat to him.

He owns a farm and now has 18 old classic cars on his land. He loves doing them up but then can't bear to part with them.

"I know I should sell some," he says. "But I love them so much."

I know what he means, something lovely about a classic and a different time when perhaps we all had more time on our hands without new tech.

Then there is that old car interior smell. I will be sad to see it go, and I wonder what I'll find when I clean out the inside.

I already found some tubes of fruitellas I was giving away at seminars back in 2009 and obviously there are a few choc bars which should have gone out at seminars but now have best before March 2012 on them.

I found a Freddo from 2011 - just 10p then, now 30p. That's inflation for you. Though these days the trick from the choc companies is to make all bars "fun size." Mmm, hardly any chocolate, real fun.

The last car tax disc is still there, end April 2015. Ah well, time passes and you can't take things with you, so I suppose the end of an era. I have had some fun summers wandering around with the roof off but I guess I would look like one of those sad old farts in it.

"Hey look over there, sad old bastard in a sports car everyone!"

Goodbye Blue Speedy, I hope you enjoy being done up and having a new life on a farm.

Our son turned 17 at the weekend. And shhhh, he hasn't mentioned driving lessons. Or the dreaded sentence no parent wants to hear. "I want to buy a motorbike".

We took him and his "girlfriend" to Ping Pong in town - they have one or two "robot" waiters already there, the future looks such fun.

The real waiter in the meantime was rather grateful to get his tip in cash!

Thanks so much to all of you who attended the last online event. Such a wide variety of people. I love that.

Any occupation was there! Dentist, pilot, scaffolder, self-employed, gardener, you name it we are all one.

Thanks for the feedback so far and apologies for the notes ending up in weird spam folders, I re-sent on word so hopefully you all have them. If you missed that one, there is a new one round the corner, December 1 and of course I will add a look at how to play a potential santa rally. robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Dec interested" in the subject line for details.
And thanks so much for the feedback such as this from Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."

Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Naked Rambling

I suspect many have been there. You have your speech, read it but you mixed up the pages. Only thing is you probably weren't on camera with millions watching.

But where is the surprise? We all know BJ is a bodge artist. If he ran a house repair business it would be called "Bodgeit and Scarper".

He wings stuff and really that's the reason he got the job, us Brits love a wing it guy. Who wants a boring guy (Hi Gordon) with a proper speech anyway?

I heard that one speech writer was really p1ssed off with a top politician and decided to leave - the first two pages of the speech were fine. Page 3 said "Fcuk you - I quit!"

Funny that Boris went on and on about Peppa Pig given his similarity to Daddy Pig.

Daddy Pig is a pretty hopeless character and seems to mess everything up though he seems well intentioned.

There also seems a glint in the eye of Mummy Pig to suggest their sex life is good.

Though can you have sex with a pig if you're a vegan?
Ted Lassoo (*) Apple
Erm, well I must be the only person on the planet who doesn't like this.
It gets great reviews everywhere. I thought it stunk but there we are.

Hopeless US coach comes to the UK to be manager of a struggling Premier League team because the new owner wants to screw it into the ground to get back at her ex husband. Problem for me is the whole concept is nuts and I can't get round that.

But the football "characters" actually all the characters seemed moronic stereotypes and the whole thing was intensely boring.

Maybe it is just too "heart warming" for me. Maybe I am just a heartless swine who prefers more realistic in your face stuff like Curb. So ignore me, and enjoy.

I'm A Celebrity (***) ITV
Every year I think "not this time" then they produce someone like Richard Madeley and I just can't resist though it is fast forward through a recording rather than a live watch.

Madelely is fascinating, a real life Alan Partridge who imagines he has self irony but doesn't. It is odds on he will say stuff that will get the woke brigade heated and so for goodness sake if you vote in these things, keep him there! We need more people who just blurt out what they really think.

Meanwhile David Ginola! I am jealous. I wish I was like that, steely alpha maley and a bit scary. No wonder he was big in football. If I was Man U I would take a look!

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (****) ITV
This "celebrity" instalment was fascinating. A lot of the celebrities screwed up through sheer arrogance which is what got them their fame. Who could miss Alan Carr's desperate arrogance and mad gambling to lose his charity so much. Highlight through had to be Harry Redknapp. Who else would have gone away with nothing at all because he was the only person who could think Bruce Willis played Rambo.

The Outlaws (***) BBC 1
An uneasy mix of comedy and drama. The comedy part is decent, the drama part a bit "Meh". Nice idea - a mix of people on community service. Some very funny and sharp lines - I reckon better to forget the drama and made it total comedy,

The drama parts really aren't very dramatic with a shooting thrown in to make it shocking and all you think is " a drama school kid just pretended to shoot another one, ooh look at the bad fake blood". Still overall though, kept me watching.

Succession (*****) Atlantic
The superior drama continues. This week' was all about choosing the next president.
Looks like Logan has chosen a Donald Trump type
Yet again tons of sharp lines and politicking but it looks like our fall guy might yet rebel and end up switching sides to avoid jail.

Curb Your Enthusiasm (*****) Sky Comedy
No sign of the best comedy drooping though Leon continues to get the best lines.

Ad Astra (****) Amazon
Very thoughtful sci fi with an unusal role for Brad Pitt who plays an astronaut who has to go to Neptune to (guess what) save the planet.

But the film is mainly about the relationship between Brad and his dad - it is nicely done and there are some decent special effects too and a sparkling beginning.

Is it any surprise Gareth Southgate continued with the England job rather than taking on a league club?

Hmm, Gareth would you like loads of money to:

A. Manage a league team with one or two games every single week for most of the year.

B. Manage the England team which hardly ever plays.

Answer: B obvs! Just put your feet up Gareth! Enjoy the cash!

Statements you really don't want to see or hear.

"Nigel Farage to return to mainline politics."

"And now here is the comedian Joe Lycett....."

"We value your privacy".

"I've got a brilliant share tip for you..."

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

There is a new episode of the "Naked money" podcast. A series where I teach a novice trader how to do it and
every week we pick a share.
Podcast 5:

https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/

Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money, plus a £100 competition, top tens, spot the intros, nostalgia corner and loads of laughs. Plus experienced investors have tips for beginners and investment ideas - settle down and spend
some time with the Naked Trader!

The last two weeks of November and the first couple of weeks of December have always been sh!tty for as long as I can remember. Which is quite long!

Maybe winter and the cold sets in and people get more grumpy and sell off. However usually when we got close to Xmas there is a massive turnaround.

This makes it a very tricky time.

Makes it slightly difficult to know whether to stick, twist or fold. Probably if it's high risk fold, gone up too much or highly rated fold, otherwise good quality quietly going about its business maybe stick and hold out for a year end rally?

Always tough decisions to make especially if you are sure you have a good one that's losing a bit. If only there was a right answer. But markets are bonkers so there never is.

On the surface markets actually appear to be doing ok but under the surface a lot of smaller ones have been hit.

Seems to have been some indiscriminate selling of small caps, perhaps there is a large fund forced to sell right now as it seems the good is being hit with the bad.

While I have lost some paper profits it hasn't been too bad for me as you might remember I have been selling a lot and recently I topsliced/sold some of nearly everything which I can't easily replicate on this site.

That is not to say I won't buy at all but there must be a very strong reason for now. I am staying in a lot of cash short-term.

The mainly usual Santa rally isn't too far away - I will be covering how to play it at the online seminar next week, December 1. A boss of a spreadbet firm has promised to drop in to take questions on how to use this tax free way to make money from Santa.

There is limited space now for Dec 1 so if you want to spend the day with me and live markets next week, mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "dec interested" in the subject line. NOW SOLD OUT new date Jan 19th - mail for details.

If you want to try the Xmas rally there is loads on this is my Naked Trader Guide to Spreadbetting Edition 2, Amazon has it for next day delivery. Look at all the worked examples there on how to take part using spreadbetting.

My favourite firm for a Xmas rally is spreadco as it has the cheapest ftse spread at only 0.8.

It is also extremely easy to use. Use this link to go on Akeel's list, he is ever so helpful and you can get in touch with him if anything goes wrong.

https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader

One idea I have for you all: compile a list of good quality shares you like that have been hit and have gone down. It's possible they could be bargains and if you give it some patience you could then buy them at fanastic cheap prices quite soon.

I have started my own list and will be looking at those with some of you online next Wednesday.

I saw GB Group (GBG) made an acquision which should turn it into a bigger company.

Given its quality this looks a good time to buy them and just hold.

I didn't take up the placing but bought in the market to add shares into the isa. I still hold GB shares from way back when we bought then at a seminar many years ago at 20p!

I've always liked the area GB is in - the ID market is strong and will probably continue to grow. It raised a massive £305million to acquire Acuant, bringing together the leaders in the global digital ID market.

Seems to be like a great plan to continue to grow the company and turn it into a giant and one I will continue to tuckaway in the isa and then just leave it.

I would think it wouldn't take that long for GBG shares to get back and up over 800p and beyond.

I bought some Record REC, it span me right round baby right round, just like a record would.

Very decent results this week from this specialist currently and derivaties company together with an increased dividend.

Profits before tax doubled and it claims a very strong financial position with shareholders' equity of £25m. Growth could come from new developments including a new product for the German market.

Seems like management is very keen to grow this business and if they get it right could be plenty of upside to come here.

I topped up Royal Mail - its result were excellent. Not only that a giant dividend is on the way. But if you use stops beware! Ex dividend date is next Thursday and so shares will likely drop on that date. Of course if you are holding you will get the massive dividend in cash. But just make sure you are not stopped out on ex date if you hold and Iwould suggest a stop well away if you hold.

Same comment regarding Telecom Plus TEP which goes ex on the same date as Royal Mail next Thursday for a massive 27p. Remember on ex days shares start down by the divi amount so TEP should start down 27p next Thursday. But of course you get a big wad of cash into your account.

Indeed TEP was just asking to be bought yet again on its very rosy results outlook. So I did to add to the ones I collected previously. As I have been banging on here for some weeks, all the smaller energy cos going bust gives it an amazing chance to acquire loads of new customers and then persuade its new energy customers to take its mobile phone, landline, broadband and insurance services too.

It is one of only three cos you can switch to and still get the cap. It trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse. I would think shares should start to climb above all time highs but remember I am biased on this one.

If you are stuck wanting to switch your utilities you can make me some commission and in return you get my website email free which has all the site stuff plus one or two extra trades not featured on the site. To switch:

https://uw.co.uk/join?position=237058

Once there click "not with a UW partner" and follow instructions. If prompted for partner details it is robbie burns no 237058.

As I said further up, I am still more in selling, taking profits and losses mode. You may remember I sold some of everything recently. But with the smaller ones still being sold I have sold off some more. But I think I am coming to the end of selling, lots of cash now and I think I hold quality. However here is a flavour of the selling.

Avon produced a nasty warning - shares fell a lot - a stop worked but only stopped me from losing a lot more on the recent buy. At one point I had a big holding but took profits on most earlier this year as reported here as the price kept declining.

So it ends up a loss of £1,217 on the recent buy and a profit of £4,711 on the remaining shares held for the site.

The temptation is when a share lets you down is to buy lower because it "owes" you and it is time for revenge. I go for leave alone and wait because often one profit warning is followed by another. I'll wait for further news before getting involved here again.

Another point is this is why I warn about following me on things. If you'd bought Avon when I did the last trade in it and stayed with it you could have lost 40pc overnight. Another example is the Investors Chonicle which tipped Frontier on Friday. Monday there was a warning, shares down 40pc! Beware of following anyone blindly and if you do formulate your business plan with it like I have showed a lot of you at the online seminars.

Recent buy Wosg ticks up nicely, I just top sliced a few for a website profit of £920 selling the last average up but keeping the main position. Som went for a loss of £508. Price kept falling and that's that. Sometimes shares can look great but fall, I prefer to shoot first, ask questions after. Looks good still annoyingly, will keep an eye on for potential re-entry.

Took profits on 2/3 positions on adbp - shares again kept falling and exited some for a profit of £7,240.

It then reported yesterday, actually it looks pretty good but logistics problems are currently in the way. Funny how the shares kept falling ahead of statement but that's fine as it gave me some exit music! Definite re-entry point on the way there soon.

Upgs reached target and seemed enough for now so profit is £1,224. Seems to be starting to trade in a range. Recruiters seemed to have stalled so took profits on Hays and Sthree of £217 and £120 respectively. Top sliced a tad of Ent for £144. CMC hit a tl and went for a loss of £210.

All of which loss and profit taking adds up to total profit of £12,641 for the site.

In a downish market the shorts are going well. Boo Hoo is going down nicely with good profits, and so are Aston Martin and Trainline.

Wise has really slumped so excellent profits from the shorts. Though I am thinking about taking profits on some of the shorts sometime in December in case of Santa rally. They have all gone down quite a lot.

Centralnic's statement a few days ago went down well - if it can break up through 150p that could open up 180p, look a decent medium term hold idea.

I talked about Cake Box on the last podcast https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/
about one third into it.

Today directors appear to have sold some.

Do you think it looks like they are having their cake and eating it too?

Black Friday Offer - Sharepad/Sharescope

Sharescope/SharePad has contacted me with a "black Friday" offer open
to Dec 15th.

Offer is 66% discount off first three months which is pretty decent. Around the equivalent of two free months. New subscribers only.

https://sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader

The special code with the 66% discount is ntbf21. Enter this into the blue promo code box on the basket view screen before check out. Once you hit "˜enter' button the basket item will change to show the black Friday offer has been applied.

It's all clearly laid out and once on a share you can so easily tab through live prices, L2, forecasts, financials, director deals etc. It also has pre tax profit forecasts through to 2023 and some to 2024 which I like.

It offers research tools more in depth than stockopedia and for extra it includes live prices and level 2 - the level 2 is top notch and includes trades from everywhere. The yearly fee is also a bit cheaper than monthly.
They also offer an hour online with one of their guys who will take you through how to use it nd all the features.
Stockopedia as ever is SO useful. It really is a must have! And some fantastic talented writers/commentators too like Paul Scott.

Brilliant stats on all shares, amazing stock screens and lots more.
https://stockopedia.com/nakedtrader
gets you a big discount and 14 days free trial.
Don't forget my new podcast here - (comp is closed)

Money Week offer:

Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.

Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.

There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.

The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..

On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!

So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT

Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.

Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.

https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader to open an account under Akeel.

**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me
with "email interested"

If you are thinking of A ftse trade try https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
as their spread is the tightest at 0.8. Also very pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads there too.

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does: https://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
