And:

It's still hard to take in how quickly things have changed! Come on,
I was at a hotel last month doing a seminar!!

Anyhow for now the transfer to online zoom seminars has been
surprisingly pain free. We just did two for beginners and improvers
and they all went swimmingly.

Elizabeth does a great job at fielding the questions all day and
filtering them through to me.

Everyone online also seems to get the tech fast but Zoom really does
make it so easy!

We overran quite a bit and I was so knackered afterwards, it is a long
day on a screen.

Not so long for someone in Australia, by the time we finished it was 4am
in the morning for him!

The best backdrop had to be one chap who can you believe it was
on his roof! I just hope he didn't fall off! One or two looked like they
were in the kids bedroom.

I saw two Buzz Lightyears!

I never knew there was so much pent up demand for online seminars. I suppose
not having to travel is a big draw and you can be anywhere in the world.

They are also fun for us to do during these tedious lockdown days.

STOP PRESS: May 6th is sold out new
date May 27th - mail for details.

Yet another overflow online one next week on May 6th is also getting
close to sold out - so don't waste time if you want a virtual seat.

Here's one feedback from Yasmin:

If I was tired - I am sure you both were!
Elizabeth - you did a fantastic job managing all the participants - just like a pro - and I mean it sincerely. There is an air of calmness but also a recognition that you are "fix-it" person if things go wrong during the day.
Robbie - as usual, you lived up to expectations! It was a great seminar and I hope that I am able to use your wise words and tips over the coming months and years. Funnily enough, when you were explaining how you built up the FTSE shorts, I did something similar when the election results came out last year until the end of the Christmas rally. It is about patience and building up....and letting go of the losses!!"

STOP PRESS: NEW VIRUS SPECIAL PODCAST:

Lockdown" continues to be quite weird.

We are doing some big walks and managed to get my
football mad teen to a local field so he can kick the ball around.

I feel so sorry for him: he misses his school friends and socialising
and at 15 that's pretty bad.

So much worse for the year above him - and the ones finishing
school, poor sods had their lovely final time at school taken away
from them.

I hope they can open schools again, if only on a smaller basis.

His school is doing well, online school starts at 8.30am prompt and
it works quite well.

We're taking the lovely lady who lives close to us lots of nice
meals and we can tell she appreciates it. Those home made
fish and chips Elizabeth made yesterday, amazing!

And I am so glad I am doing the calls to the lonely
elderly for silver line.

Poor old Vera is a bit down. She loved going shopping and can
hardly believe she can't go out to marks and spencers.

Her son has to do it for her but it is not the same.

All I can do is tell her it is a pain in the neck shopping now with queues
to get in etc.

But she says at nearly 90-years-old how long does she have left?

She feels she would just like to get out there and take a chance. She
would prefer to go shopping and enjoy what she feels might be
her last year or two. Anyway I think I have cheered her up. I used to
talk to her husband before he died and know a lot about him and
I think that helps her.

I hope you are all surviving and that soon things will be back to more
like normal but I can't see pubs (at least city ones) opening soon.

What about football behind closed doors? Won't that be weird? And
surely not the same for the players skewing results.

Maybe best to scrap the season and start a new compressed one
later in the year?

Look forwards to meeting more of you virtually on May 6.

Hope you are all coping well and have not got the virus or if you did
it was a mild one.

Naked Rambling

Goodness there is always something going on with Boris Johnson!

After getting through the virus, phew, he has a new son!

Hmm, what will he be called? I reckon it will be George. Got a
nice ring to it, George Johnson.

Whatever you think of him, he lives life to the full and frankly I
feel a bit jealous. Not for a new kid I mean (no please no) but
his enormous... drive and zest for life. I think I have some but
must be wonderful to have all that energy.

The new PMQ's is a bit weird, an empty chamber. No shouting
and ranting and all that. Which really makes it a whole lot better
and there is a more grown up feel.

SirStarmer is a whole load better than Corbyn which is great as a good
opposition is so important.

He can think on his feet and comes up with some decent questions.

Drawback is he is quite long-winded and he needs to cut back on the
verbosity. I think the speaker should really limit questions to
30 seconds tops to get people to make their point faster.

Seems to be a few green shoots around. Maybe a vaccine earlier than
we thing? Perhaps some drug that can help if you get it?

Let's hope so. But how long before any of us feel confident to get
on a plane again?

I'm not sure I would want to for some time. While you may be able to
get on one, you'll have to wear a mask, checkin will be 4 hours to assess
your health, security will take forever.

We will probably all think: forget it!

Normal People (****) (BBC1)
Based on some famous books, it's a coming of age story
based in Ireland. Nicely filmed and the two lead young
actors are simply amazingly talented. 12 episodes of half
hours each are now all on I Player. Nice to have something
without violence or car chases!

Better Call Saul (*****)
Superior TV! Not quite Breaking Bad, but close. Only this
show could get away with an episode where barely anything
happens. Jimmy and Mike trapped in the middle of nowhere and
trying to survive. Nothing going on but still rivetting. More Breaking
Bad characters appearing, this time the gruesome mute twins.

Devs (****) (BBC2)
Fascinating sci fi thriller if just a touch on the slow
side. Only seen the first two so far and catching up. That
giant child is pretty spooky and it all looks lovely and
feels a bit different. Assuming that

Quiz (*****) (ITV)
Just brilliant! Did the Major and his scheming wife cheat?
Well, probably. But what an entertaining three parter. Phone a friend
and get them to watch it. Interesting that the drama/comedy points
out ITV made a killing out of the whole saga. But the real
question is, why didn't he stop at the £500,000 mark? I'm sure
they'd have got away with it assuming they were cheating. Greed
was the undoing.

Killing Eve (***) (BBC 1)
The second series was a bit lame, it's just about ok to hang on
though as it looks so lovely and it is quite fun. Trouble with it
is buying the love thing between the women. That was a brilliant
line wasn't it: "Being in management sucks".

Gangs of London (**) (Sky Atlantic)
Loads of violence without any redeeming features, like say,
good lines, a decent plot or humour or any characters
that are of any interest at all. I gave it ** because the actors
are top notch disconcertingly two of them from
Game of Thrones, both in the red wedding scene. I mean,
you have the Sopranos.. and then you have this.

Run (*) (Sky Comedy)

Trust me: Run!

Duncan Bannatyne is in tonight's "Marigold Hotel" - A shame
Lady C won't be there to put him in his place - "vain old goat".

Perhaps if Boris Johnson's son takes after his Dad surely
he should be named: "Willie".

Some recent feedback:

He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

ready for me to download to soundcloud.

In the meantime to keep you busy the last one is here:

>
Wow, well the markets have been going up just as relentlessly
as they went down!

I'm sure this came as a bit of a surprise for a lot of us - and goes to show
there is no point fighting a market trend.

I am sure you, like me, are rueing not getting stuck in a bit
more heavily nearer the bottom.

However I have carried on doing some small buying - but still have a lot
of cash - I don't trust the current bullishness.

Frankly if I was setting market prices I'd have everything a lot lower
- but you are dealing with a crazy place and so you have to go
with the trend - if you go with your own feelings you can end up
a pauper!

Probably a lot of "fear of missing out" going on. Remember this is a
long game and those who worry of missing out or try to make it
too fast usually come a cropper.

But it doesn't matter, there are always opportunities!

It is a bit odd right now, the market seems to think a vaccine will
be here soon. Big rises this week on the promise of a drug that
can fight it and promises from the Fed to continue to throw money
at all the problems.

Trouble is, if it isn't or the "good news" turns
out not to be there will be another major reversal. Has the
market really taken into account all the problems waiting
down the tracks?

Chances are in the next few weeks we will either be 1,000 points
higher (amazing vaccine trials, infections down)

Or 1,000 points lower (vaccine blues, more infections spread,
realisation economy is effed for a while).

No point asking me, I don't know. As usual will try and follow it
slowly.

I don't expect to know tops and bottoms will try and not get
into anything too much which gives the ability to bale out
and take profits easily.

It has been a massive up week but today there is some profit taking is that
all it is, or is there more down to come?

I shorted the FTSE this morning
in the 6110 area - if it had carried on going up would have taken a small loss.

As it is the stop is now in at 6100 so whatever happens there should
be a profit!
> is decent for FTSE bets with just a 0.8
spread, an uncluttered site , great execution and 2% interest paid monthly on
any spare cash up to £20,000.

OK, so one or two trades to tell you I made here and there will
be loads more on the podcast ! The podcast will also have
my pick of the construction sector.

Overall, looking for companies with low debt or net cash to ensure
no sudden busts and some strength. I'm going lightly on everything
to make sure I can get out should markets do a turndown.

RBG Group (RBGP) looks lovely and cheap and I've bought quite a few.
as I keep mentioning I am looking for companies
with strong cash or low debt with good post virus prospects.
This one has nearly £2m in net cash and net
assets of £42m. It's a professional services group of which its main asset
is Rosenblatt one of the country's leading law firms.

It has launched a white collar fraud and financial crimes division
and with plenty of those sorts running around should not
be short of business.

It recently bought convex cap, a specialist
corporate finance boutique and it looks like it is willing to
buy up others to grow and it says since the virus it still has
plenty of business and its lawyers can work from home overall
looks like a nice slow grower and looking to stick it away.

We bought some Ramsdens Group (RFX) live at the zoom seminar,
getting the current sell price on direct market access.

Made a lot on this one pre virus and its current price as we discussed
with the group on Zoom is very cheap.

This pawnbroker's shops will probably be open very soon and
with many tight for cash I would guess there will be some brisk
business going on there.

Ramsdens has four divisions foreign currency
exchange, pawnbroking, buying precious metals and jewellery retail.

It has a decent
spread of over 130 stores and with a decent cash pile and
lots of bank headroom too, looks a survivor and a potential
200p target.

On the new podcast check out more on Ramsdens and other pawnbrokers
too.

Sopheon (SPE) has been looking strong during the virus outbreak and
we saw at the online seminar that level 2 looked very strong indeed.

It has a good pile of net cash (remember net cash is your friend right now!).
One of the few to maintain its dividend - and it said the final quarter had seen
one of the strongest on record for deal flow.

It claims the market is ready for its move to cloud services and its staff
can easily work from home. This one should get through the current
crisis and is still 50pc lower than its high, so upside is there.

I picked up some Concurrent Technology (CNC). I made
quite a few quid on this one recently.

Plenty to like here : despite the virus this one has
been climbing recently and not surprising as the
future looks very good.

This is a world leading specialist in the design and manufacture of high-end embedded computer boards for critical applications , it looks to be in a sweet spot as it says new and existing customers continue to require increasing levels of processing performance and additional product features including, in particular, increased security capabilities and encrypted storage

The exciting bit is the release of its first product for Artificial Intelligence applications. With AI becoming
the next big thing, Concurrent could really benefit if it gets it right.

The Board says it sees many opportunities to grow the business organically into new market areas by widening product ranges and further developing relationships with key hardware and software partners. This company appears to be ambitious and I am happy to buy and be on board.

I have been picking up more of Begbies (BEG). As discussed here before business should boom this year as it helps insolvent companies and companies to turn around.

Current conditions are really made for a company like this to flourish and I got some at one of the recent beginner/improver zoom seminars at the sell price using direct market access. If you would like to find out how to use DMA come and join me for the day next week on May 6th, venue your place!. Mail for details.

Solid State (SOLI) looks a solid business which we examined at the zoom seminar.
A statement came out last week saying it expected record profits in its area of
computing, power and communication products. Solid has what I like to see: net cash!

It also said there was some virus upside: it has been notified by numerous customers that the Group has been designated a critical supplier under the government's critical industries and key workers guidance. Sectors highlighting this dependency include medical, food retail, security, transportation and defence. On the downside there is less demand for batteries due to lower oil prices.

Cohort (COH) looks in a defence sweet spot - it is busy buying up other companies in its sector - it now
owns five businesses in this sector. It's gone from net cash to net debt after snapping up the latest acquision - it should easily survive virus blues . On the downside we haven't had a virus update yet so have been fairly cautious in the amount bought.
I topped up with some more AB Dynamics (ABDP) - this car tester despite some recent
rises is still far off its highs and I felt there was still a chance to buy some at a way
reduced multiple. The long-term future here is very bright - chances are this is just
a bump in the long-term smooth road.

I've shorted some Easyjet - I just can't see how people are going to get on its aircraft much
this year even if there is lockdown release. The extra security, health checks and worry is
going to make most people including me just want to stay here this year. Sad to do it
as I like flying with the company. However it will fly high again in 2021.

I've sold the last of my Kape for a profit of £5,250 - been a wonderful
share and made nearly £20,000 for the site and a lot more personally.
After a 150pc rise seems sensible to bank for now. I expect I will
be back!

The ITV trade did really well but it tends to follow the ftse which has
had a good run too so out for a profit of £1,031.

Elsewhere because of strong markets all recent buys have boomed.

Telecom Plus reported some decent figures and most importantly
it will stick to the dividend. That has helped the share price
and it is seen as a good defensive.

Avon Rubber has continued to show strength and looks good. From here will
try and slowly follow as usual. Take profits should the mood change, or add
should more optimism come in. Who the heck knows?

Just to let you know "First Date Hotels" is on tonight.

Alexandria once dined with Sean
Connery and hopes to meet someone similar.

Your date is... Jeremy Corbyn...!" "Ps, don't worry
a woman called Diane told us he is really good in bed...."

As usual at the online spreadbet seminar I used my three fave accounts live:

IG which is great all round - this is a "refer a friend" link
so if you go via I suspect I get something! (It also does isas
and a normal dealing account and you can switch money say
from SB account to ISA)

If you are thinking of A ftse trade try

pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
