Thanks very much for your feedback to the NT Radio show 4.

Glad so many of you enjoyed it! The numbers competition has
thrown up some interesting entries.

All I can say is one or two of them are over 2,000 out!

Remember to listen to the rules Ben Footsie gives out near
the beginning. Remember Ben might read out a number or two
during any music bits. Plus I say quite a few numbers. Clue:
they are easy to miss! There is only one entry to the £100 comp
anywhere near, so plenty to go for....

If you haven't heard it yet it is here:

>

Plenty of shares chat and some fun too.

The pent up demand for online seminars from me shows
little sign of abating! I always thought people liked the hotel setting
and the food and the sociability. As it happens it looks like
most people would rather sit at home and do it online! I suppose
this is my biggest virus surprise.

May 27th got sold out and so set up another overflow date for
June 24th If interested mail me at robbiethetrader with
June overflow interested"

I look forwards the online day with many of you
I have seen at the hotel or online before for a follow up.

Can't wait as the day usually throws up some great ideas from
participants.

That follow up seminar is sold out but there is an overflow
follow up on June 10th - mail me at robbiethetrader with
follow up overflow interested".

Finally as there seems demand there is a spreadbetting only seminar
on June 17th, Mail me at robbiethetrader with
SB seminar interested" for details.

Thanks for all the feedback on the online ones, latest
from David:

Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "ËœBetting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again in June!"

Thanks David, see you virtually in June.
Our two cats have never caught a thing.

They are pampered Persians who are cute and at best
try and get a butterfly and fail. They eye up the great fat
pigeons. The pigeons glare at them. "Go on then," sniff the great
fat birds. "Have a go if you think you are hard enough."

Wisely, our lady and gentleman just watch. They are not even brave
enough to even have a run at them.

They know the birds would probably win out in a fight.

But at last. Our male Persian finally got something. He was so excited.

Yes, he brought in a mouse. Probably the tiniest mouse you ever saw.

He sat in the kitchen watching it proudly. Then our fluffy female came in
and spotted it.

No messing with her. The mouse was in her mouth in a second, and the next
second she was flying out of the catflap with it. Afraid I have no idea what
happened to the mouse but it probably got away.

Since his fantastic achievement, our male has been sound asleep for two days..
but with a smile on his face.

Worst thing for me regarding lockdown was giving up my favourite sport of
swimming. I was pretty sad when I knew it was my last one at the open air
pool I used.

I've swum most days since I was 21. Not only do I love it, but it's also half
an hour of lovely meditation. Realising pools probably won't open for months..,

I've bought a swimming pool for the garden!!

Well, ok not the kind of swimming
pool you might imagine. Not like the one at the gym or a hotel.

It's a wave pool. It looks lovely. Big jets go against you so you can get a decent swim.
Plus two seats if you fancy a spa. Also a treadmill so you can walk instead.

It cost over £40k but I treated myself. (Paid for actually by a lovely short
in the FTSE a while back!).

After all, I'm not really a consumer. There's nothing
much I buy. I'm not into cars or bling or much really. If you force me round a shopping
centre I get tired and think: why do people want to buy any of this crap?

Only thing I ever spent money on was business class flights to nice places. I can't do
that now so why not spend on essentially health?

After all the fitter you are the more likely you are at an advanced age like mine to
survive the virus if it's caught.

We bought some fluffy
robes and towels and despite lockdown intend to have a lovely summer in the
garden! Will make a change from all that hassle of hols abroad.

BTW I realise I am very lucky to be able to do this. But at least I worked for it and
no-one ever gave me any money and I made it all myself. I am grateful to the
universe and I will in some return try and expand the charity things I already do.

Vera who I chat to every week on behalf of charity Silver Line is getting more fed
up by the week. It is getting harder to cheer her up.

She is absolutely desperate for a trip to the shops which she always loved.

And she also misses her weekly rendevous at a cafe with her friend Edie.

She wonders when it will all be over - at least she walks up and down the garden
for exercise.

I made loads of notes about her husband who died a few years ago - I used to
chat to him weekly and we can chat stories about him - it cheers her up.

The cleaner is back! It's mainly good news though I am fully aware she
can't help but nick a small part of my chocolate treats so I need
to find some new hiding places.

I know exactly which member of my family has been stealing chocolate.

Let's say it's a Twix.

If it is my wife: half of one of the bars will be gone.

The cleaner: one of the bars gone and the other one nicely tidied into
the corner of the drawer.

My teenager: Just the wrapper is left, probably on the floor under
the drawer.

STOP PRESS: NEW VIRUS SPECIAL PODCAST:

Naked Rambling

It does look like at last Labour has its act together and we have
some kind of opposition again which has been badly lacking.

Keir Starmer plays the stern headmaster and Boris Johnson the
naughty pupil who has been found out.

Starmer's role appears to be the sad admonishment of the pupil
rather than a six of the best approach.

Johnson.. yet again you have failed to do your homework properly.
I will have to give you another detention more in sadness than
in anger..."

Thank goodness though for an opposition that can think on its feet.
The Corbyn days seem, thank goodness, to be well and truly over.

Oh no, what's this about lockdown easing?!

Does this mean I have to go out again? What? Meet
people? I've forgotten how you do that.

Oh yes I remember. Shake hands?

Do smalltalk? How do you do that again. Oh yes I remember.
Women: "Those shoes are amazing!" Men: "Liverpool really
ought to be declared champions."

Football might resume soon behind closed doors. YES!!!
A rest from away games!!

No more long journeys on a smelly train! No more crammed into
a small "away" end with pissed teenagers and miserable old
gits. Freedom!! Yes !!! Get in! Virus upside!!

Oh and please can Fulham stay in the championship? It is way
more fun than the premier league. The premier league really
sucks!

Normal People (****)

Seen the lot now. No spoilers! Sensational acting from the two young
leads, full marks. For us older folks, makes us glad we aren't that
age. It is a rather confusing time. Despite it being quite a slight
story it remains engrossing in a will they or won't they way. The sex
scenes were well done too. Though could the next series perhaps
feature a lesbian couple?

Better Call Saul (*****)
Sublime to the end, I guess along with Breaking Bad, just superb
TV. From the camerawork to the acting, writing and directing.
The confidence in allowing the storytelling to be ultra slow. Well done all.
Looking forwards to watching the whole of Breaking Bad again
after the conclusion of Better Call Saul.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (****) (ITV)
Clarkson continues to be massively entertaining playing
himself. We all have a touch of the grumpy old gits and he
plays it to the full. Obviously it needs to be watched at fast forwards
to miss out all the waffle. What a shame the million pound question
was about motor sport. I knew the £250,000 answer as I've
visited Cape Town a number of times.

Killing Eve (****) (BBC1) (Spoilers)
Better than the last series which was on life support. Getting
our hero's family into the equation is a great idea. Perhaps
not if you are actually Russian in which case I suspect you
might be groaning at the portrayal of her family as hard
drinking, hard playing Russians. An awful stereotype yet entertaining too!
SPOILERS!!: Wiping out nearly all her family was kind of
expected but htf would she really get away with that in real life?

Lycett's Got Your Back (*). (ITV)
Oh Lord! A strange bastard mix of Watchdog, panel show
and "comedy". It neither amuses or informs and worse, it's so patronising!
Are we idiots? Back off!

Westworld (*) (Atlantic)
Oh why oh why did I carry on with this cobblers? After a promising
first episode it descended into long winded boring fight scenes and
in the end both the goodies and the baddies were bad and frankly
you wanted the lot of them to get wiped out. Time to put this
one into another world.

Dave (*) BBC2
I was really looking forward to this. Jewish white guy becomes a
rapping star. Someone from Curb worked on it. 15 mins in and
50 dick jokes later and not one single laugh it was off. I can only
guess it is aimed at 16-year-olds. Sad face.

Where the hell is the new series of Billions, Sky?? It's already being shown in
the states. Come on! If they don't give us an airdate I am going to
storm the Sky offices - who is with me (correctly distanced of course).

Oh. No-one. Bloody traders. Full of fear.

Ryanair says it will be flying again from July. Cheers? Hey stop groaning.
Normal Ryanair flights are bad enough. Now on top, its masks and rubber
gloves all round. Oh plus forms to fill in, and erm, you can't queue for
the loo. Looks like only the quickest sprinters will get to relieve
themselves. Doesn't the whole thing sound like fun?

May I point you in the direction of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe
tonight on BBC2 - his sarcastic take on everything is always
refreshing and will be a must watch for me!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

(The one before that is here)

Thanks markets!!! I wrote most of the market report yesterday thinking
get it done in advance instead of at the last minute as usual.

I could then have a nice peaceful day today - a relax with the papers
and a box set maybe?

But the markets tanked so I knew
I had to write it again. Then I realised my vat software hadn't been picking
up all the bank entries meaning I was about to massively underdeclare
my vat return.

Cue long calls to the vat specialist and looking at weird spreadsheets. VAT
return used to take me 30 mins. Now it takes hours, days with software
supposed to make it easy!

I have spent most of the day trying to figure it all out. And now I have
to write this in a rush or else emails start to come in. "Where is the update?"
etc. What is going on? Supposed to be living the easy life!

So this is what I wrote early yesterday!

I try and not argue with the markets too much which is just as well as
if I was in charge they would be a whole lot lower!

But recently they have been pretty strong.

Why the strength? No idea. Even if we look forwards things look in a right mess.

Maybe it is share buying robots. Maybe Trump has a secret buying
robot to keep the markets up till after the election.

Look, I really don't know. Seriously if I really was setting prices, I'd
rank the FTSE at 4,000. And the Dow a lot lower.

But I don't, so I have to go with the collective - while they are still
acting crazy, I am going with it...a bit. But it seems bonkers.

But. I've made sure I don't have too much of anything so I can exit quickly and easily
should things worsen.

A move back to fear could happen pretty quickly in which case I'd be
topslicing, selling and going short of the indices.

Any one mention of the virus getting worse/getting better sends the
market soaring or crashing so be careful and keep lots of cash
on furlough! In summary: it is all a bit of a gamble for now. "

Ok, so the above I wrote yesterday.. today the market has tumbled all day long!

That's the trouble with markets, they really are barking bonkers. I blame the
US markets which everyone else follows - they are really nuts.

In the spirit of thinking we should be lower I did add more to the original
FTSE short at 6115 ish that I mentioned last time and shorted some again yesterday
and more this morning.

It acts as a nice cover should recent buys suddenly tank and it is
a struggle to sell.

I continue to use
>

for its 0.8 spread
on the FTSE which is very cheap and its 2pc monthly interest
payments on 20k free cash.

(If you want to learn how to spreadbet see details of the online
June 17th spreadbet seminar above or below somewhere)

One thing that stuck me this morning was the massive spreads at the start of play
as market participants seem too shy to put prices in.

Also even during the day on the more illiquid mid caps it just takes
some small trades to make shares plunge, then often they
go back up.

What this means is if you are using stops they really have to be miles away
from the price as insurance or else you will get stopped out every time by
a wide spread.

And any buying during volatility means you have to decide whether you are
buying low and sticking with it or else getting out quick. Beginners should be
ever so careful right now and a cash pile is a must!

I am cautious but for now continuing with the odd bit of buying when something
looks really tempting. And shorting where things look like they
have more downside.

Probably in reality if you have a large portfolio you are probably going to
do well to keep it steady and not make losses!

Perhaps going where angels fear to tread, I bought some of drugs company Vectura. (VEC)

Its recent results were pretty impressive and ahead of expectations. Its share
price has hit 100p recently and a good chance it will do that again.

But also, there are chances it could crack the 100p and head higher as there are some
potential catalysts. These include potential approvals for some of its respiratory
drugs, as it tries to become the top company in the respiratory area.

Backed by some decent cash too, looks a solid play for an isa.

Of course in current crazy times I'd have to be out if the whole market
tanks - but it could possibly even be a defensive?

FRP Advisory (FRP) we discussed at the last two online seminars and this one
is also discussed on the podcast

I discuss FRP in depth roughly half way through my new podcast so have a listen!

The podcast link is here:

(Lots of other shares are discussed in the podcast too - check
it out!)

FRP could be in a sweet spot viruswise as it helps companies that need
to turn around and deals in insolvencies.

Since I recorded the podcast, FRP has come up with a very decent trading statement
with revenues and profits ahead of expectations.

More background on the podcast.

Another discussed on NT Radio show 4 is a surprise to me as I rarely
ever buy retail shares as I am convinced retail is "doomed" (thanks
Private Fraser)

But I have dipped in for some Kingfisher. (KGF)

The debt as with a lot of retailers is high but not so high I think it
will go under and it has decent net assets.

It goes under B and Q and Screwfix and lots of other outlets and
you might know this week people are flooding to garden centres.

It looks like there is a lot of demand especially for home improvement
products so I reckon there could be a nice bounceback here.

For more of my thoughts on Kingfisher, hear them on the NT4 show.
I have shorted (bet on the share price to fall) Hotel Chocolat shares. (HOTC)

How could I when I like chocolate? Well, the price sits on a massive
multiple. It just looks way too high and I reckon something like
30pc off would be about right.

It's not a bad company - it makes decent profits and its products look nice
though not to my taste as I like crap choc. But a PE of over 40? Bonkers.

Stockopedia agrees - it rates it just 11/100 for value. But a good rating
for quality - all agreed! Good quality, just too high.

I hate to argue with the market but surely there is 100p to come off here?

I found it quite hard to find a spreadbet firm to take on a short but got mine
on with

I have also shorted Greggs. (Bet on it to go down). (GRG)

And I like sausage rolls, I mean who doesn't?
Oh yes vegetarians. Forgot! (Come on the Veggie ones are
vile and just look up what is in them..)

No doubt Greggs is a great company and well run. Problem is social
distancing - and where its stores are positioned.

Generally they are tiny - this is going to make it hard to serve as
many customers and indeed how are the staff to stay apart?

Also, a lot of branches are in transport hubs - there is going to be
a lot less footfall around as people are avoiding these areas.

For now, looks too high - but probably later this year will bounce back
but hopefully out of the short by then!

Banked some bits and pieces of profit. Remember you don't have to sell
all of something, you can sell some, or half and run the rest.

QQ has gone for a reasonable
profit and I topsliced some rfx as it stormed up. It has come back a bit
now and am looking to buy back the topslice. CCC had a good run and
banked profits on that one. Also topsliced one or two today on the
rundown inc knos. Have stayed with all the shorts for now.

I am out of time for profit/loss working out thanks to the vat debacle
as it takes ages but the webmaster will update the website table in
the next few days (he is on the lazy side but is a kind of friend so I
can't hassle him). I'll work it all out tomorrow when I get some time at last
and send it over to him to update.

Where the hell is all this going? I wish I could tell you but with all
the virus up and down uncertainty, it could simply be it is
time to chill out and maybe just not get too involved and
keep a decent cash pile for when things are clearer.

I think we can expect massive updays and downdays and expect
sudden big losses if you are on the wrong side.

Chasing ups and downs is fraught with danger - as well as
very tiring and time consuming!

If in doubt don't put money in. Indeed if you can't afford to lose half
of what you put in, you really should not be in.

Right can I just be left alone now to have some tea and toast till
I have to get back to working out where the missing bank
lines are for the bastard vat?

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.
