Live Radio Show - Missed It
https://fast.citrus3.com:2020/public/nakedtrader
Lots of shares discussed, your comments and shares, fun, music and more!
Thanks so much for all your participation in the live radio show last week and your lovely feedback.
It nearly didn't work! The studio decided not to broadcast at the start but I rebooted it and phew, it was back online.
It's not the easiest thing in the world to broadcast from your kitchen.
I had many of you saying they'd like one every day.. Not going to happen!
So much response came in on the day I couldn't read everything out and also discovered some contributions ended up in the spam folder, will check that next time.
It was fun doing it too, so considering doing them every couple of weeks, probably for an hour rather than longer as it is asking a lot for you to hear me waffling on for so long.
The next one is scheduled for March 10th in the meantime the last show will continue to be repeated 24/7 here:
https://fast.citrus3.com:2020/public/nakedtrader
Do please write in with comments on the show, was there a share mentioned you would like to comment on?
Or my share of the day? Or a come back/ reply to any of the comments made?
Do let me know and I will include your comments/feedback on the next show.
I do think the background music was too loud at times, it was hard for me to notice on the day and that will be fixed for the next one.
Also if there is anything you would like me to add. Should I have guests? Take calls?
Is it the right time? Should it be earlier or later?
I am working on downloading the shows onto soundcloud afterwards so you can fast forward or start at the beginning etc.
Let me know as always happy to try and improve it as it develops.
We were out in London to see a new show at one of my sister's theatres, The Apollo "I'm Sorry Prime Minister".
It really is a fun show, my sister tells me tickets are selling out and it only has a 12 week run so if you want to bag tickets do it fast her website is
There are lots of other great shows at the other theatres, take a look.
London seems as busy as ever, we didn't leave the after party till 11pm and we wandered the streets trying to find a cab.
It rained hard, lucky we had umbrellas, we ended up on a bus!
Anyone who tells you London is dangerous .. it isn't really true.
There isn't any sense of danger when we've wandered around over the years.
Obviously you have to be careful and not wave your phone around.
But otherwise it's a great atmosphere, and there is a very low count of nutters or beggars knocking about.
Don't be put off by the scare stories: get out there and go into the centre and enjoy the theatre, restaurants and the shopping.
We should be doing another retreat in 2026.
Places are limited to only ten and you need to apply for one, we chat to you and make sure it's right for you.
Interested? Email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "2026 retreats interested". We'll then put you on a list to contact next year and allocate places on a first come first served basis.
People keep asking me which broker to use for their new ISA.
I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.
Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.
Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.
II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.
If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.
Seems like a no brainer here is the link:
If they ask my acc is burnsrobbieburns@aol.com.
I did a podcast with Zeus Capital and Nick Searle who is the most lovely chap.
He even posted a lovely handwritten thank you letter afterwards. Sheer class.
You can hear be blabbing on about how I came to be a trader and suchlike.
https://zeuscapital.co.uk/adp-podcast/ scroll down to find the one with me.
Took the credit card tracker with me to Sri Lanka. Used it twice to locate where the cards were!
Do get some credit card style tags they are wonderful and just over £20!
Link to the ones I bought:
Put one in your passport wallet and one in your credit card wallet or purse.
Thank me when inevitably something gets lost.
Thanks for the comment on my show about songs you heard it on TV.
Some of you have sent me some songs you liked and heard on TV so it looks like I can do a second one.
It's fun to see what unexpected music you heard and enjoyed.
Looks like from emails Remi Wolfe's "Hello Hello Hello" was a favourite along with the Gustav track.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.
Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.
My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.
You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.
No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.
My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.
You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.
If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you some info.
Thanks for the feedback from recent events.
Gary:
" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.
Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.
The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."
Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!
Dave:
"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."
Phil:
"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!
Naked Rambling
Not seemingly because he shagged vulnerable young women but for what looks like a sort of insider dealing.
Handing sensitive info to the paedophile in chief.
Hardly anyone ever gets done for this kind of thing, but maybe they will try and make an example here.
Be interesting to see what happens.
He probably can't believe a person as important as himself is actually being challenged. It is all very sordid and sad.
Yet again the Government seems determined to put barriers up to the self employed and sole traders.
From April we now have to add up everything every 3 months instead of once a year which causes a real headache.
And much increased costs. My accountant says he will have to charge me double for the extra work involved.
Oh, and you'll also have to spend money on software too.
I suspect some people who weren't sure will think "sod this I'll just retire early."
Governments should be trying to make things easier for people who make the money, not way harder.
Even less incentive to set up businesses and help the country to grow.
Meanwhile the tax rule book grows, the hospitality trade is in tatters.
Every move it makes seems to cause more problems for business.
If only a new Government would come in with incentives, red tape cutting, burning the tax book and maybe a flat tax.
And actually given incentives to those that work hard to build businesses rather than making life next to impossible for them.
Heston Blumental's new gimmick is the "topsy turvy" menu.
You start with pudding, then the main then the starter.
Does this sound like something thought up to get publicity?
I have been to his Fat Duck. Loads of small plates over 3 hours. The food was good but somehow a big mac was still required on the way home.
Small Prophets *** BBC 2
A kind of follow up from the brilliant Detectorists from Mackensie Crook which has been getting good reviews.
I like a bit of whimsy but just too much here for me. The mystical bits I really just couldn't buy.
There are some good lines and well observed bits on the mundanity of some lives and dementia but I found it more sad than funny.
Don't let me put you off if this is your type of thing though..
Lord Of The Flies ** Bbc1
For me, it felt like a film version of a GCSE text book. Oooh, what's the theme here. Please discuss the morality behind this that or the other. All males can become horrid and violent given the right circumstances, etc.
Super acting from the very young cast especially "Piggy" but I'm looking for entertainment and there wasn't much here. Very slow in places too.
SHRINKAGE *** Apple
A series about shrinks, not about what happens to a man's er"¦ appendage when we exit a cold swimming pool.
Harrison Ford gamely plays the boss of a small shrink company managing his younger crazy proteges.
It's vaguely entertaining but gets a bit samey by episode three.
BEING GORDON RAMSAY **** Netflix
Despite this show being produced by the big narcissist himself, it is entertaining.
It's the usual faux jeopardy against time, Gordon is edited to be shown in the best possible light.
But.. It is fascinating as he tries to open an ambitious new restaurant.
You have to admire him, at the age when most are winding down he is still winding up and good for him.
We do get an interesting look at how his business operates and family life too. Worth a view.
There are apparently too many male tortoises.
In one place, the females have so had enough of sex they are chucking themselves over clifftops to avoid it.
When in South Africa at the hotel we liked, massive tortoises humped away for hours in front of the kids club.
I guess there is no harm in getting the sex education early.
(Well the males seemed to enjoy it. The females had a grim expression "Is he ever going to stop?")
New Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson's very funny take on farming is just out and is already in the top 20 books.
The latest escapades from the Diddly Squat farm.
Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.
The book is very good value around half off the recommended price at just £11 here:

Markets
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

I laugh like a drain every time Reeves claims things are going well because "interest rates are going down."
(Hang on a sec, do drains actually laugh?)
She is seriously claiming credit for something that really signifies things are going down the pan.
Interest rates get cut because we're doing badly, not well! I just switch off now whenever she comes on as she drives me crazy.
A surprising amount of possible trades came up at the last online seminar and even more surprisingly the live radio show.
A few interesting ideas were thrown up and discussed including shares reporting on the day.
I found the show gave me new ideas and things to think about and your contributions were very interesting.
You can still catch the show on repeat here:
https://fast.citrus3.com:2020/public/nakedtrader
Some ideas I have tucked away for the future and some I've acted on.
Peel Hunt came up at the seminar on my Dash For Cash screen on Sharescope.
Find it on the home page:
https://www.sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader
(Money back offer and discount on that link)
Very nice results and looked like a buy but a decision was to wait as there would be likely profit taking.
There wasn't that much in the end and I ended up buying them.
Shares are beginning to trend higher again.
One of Peel Hunt's income streams is being one of those dastardly market makers who move smaller company share prices up and down. You may notice them on level 2.
The movements seem designed to wind anyone up that holds smaller shares.
Still, they are profitable and very much so.
And Peel claims an increased number of IPOs are helping profits.
Even after recent rises the shares look cheap and I think they could get to 150 ish with patience.
My share of the day on the show was RBOT, well, more accurately an ETF.
What the hell is it?
It's an ETF that holds well over 100 companies battling it out in the robotics space.
That means risk isn't so bad, if one of its companies is a stinker, another one will save the day.
Google it if you want to find out the top companies it holds, honestly you can't expect me to do all the work here.
I'm up 50pc on it since my first buy of it and I think there's another 50pc with some patience and just holding it.
I discussed this one on the live show in detail near the end if you want more. Click the link, it's somewhere near the end I think,
Also an interesting one I bought after a discussion on the live show is the Seraphim Space Investment Trust.
Sounds exciting right?
It holds companies in the space area (obvs).
It's recently said its top 4 holdings are blasting out of orbit. (Well actually I'm saying that).
Said holdings lifted its valuation which has taken off. (Yes ok Robbie we get it, stop now.)
Interest in space is out of this world (We said stop, so stop) and should continue to be and thanks be to Elon.
You can do the research yourself: shares in this rise and fall depending on the net asset values of its holdings.
Back down to earth now. (If you do this one more time I swear I'll"¦.)
Chatted about IG Design on the live show and suggested this looks a nice one, problem was it already rose fast before there was a chance to get in.
It was a fabulous update on the day of the show, very impressive with profits racing ahead.
Even more impressive is the cash pile up by 15-20m dollars.
It all makes the current valuation look on the cheap side despite the rises so I bought in even though I could have bought in much cheaper a few days ago.
A lot of investors won't do this but you can buy a share that is still cheap after rises and strength can continue.
So I have bought some, the results should be good and should help to push the shares still higher.
Keller looks like one to own and is in a lovely uptrend, it comes up on all the momentum screens.
It's a geotechnical contractor that provides advanced foundation and ground improvement techniques used across construction.
Despite recent rises it remains on a very low rating of under 10x pe.
It is reporting record order books but what I like most is it won't have net debt for much longer, it says by the end of the year it should have net cash, making it even more valuable.
There is potential for a lot further to go, I have seen this with similar companies that were way undervalued then the market catches up. Looks like a goodie.
Personal is in a really well defined 295p-360p range, done it a few times already.
It's come right back into the buying range on support, and looks way too cheap in the low 300ps or late 290s.
I am playing the range here which is remarkably well defined.
I'm always happy to add to shares that are going well.
Always average up. Ignore the internet pundits who suggest averaging down is a great idea.
BAE along with other defence shares have been very good investments with the long term holdings in BAE and Cohort doing very well.
I've added to both and substantial holdings in both of these now.
BAE put out an upgraded statement with defence orders reaching a new high.
Of course it is sad, who wants wars? But from a purely business perspective one can imagine all these shares being a lot higher in 6 months.
On the live show between myself and a listener we picked the exact moment to buy Journeo.
It was 385 to buy and figured it was right at the bottom of the range, and that proved the case with a rise up to 450p since the live show!
I've had enough of writing now but do listen to the show for other ideas!
Onto shorts!
I have added yet more to the WPP short. Its long-term downtrend remains intact and I've taken advantage of the recent rise to get stuck in again.
I think it's important I have used a guaranteed stop on this which TN provides, because what if a bid came out of the blue?
My short would be blasted and I would lose plenty! But with a guaranteed stop I know exactly what any damage would be which is right now next to nothing given most of the shorts were much higher up.
GS on this only seems to be with TN, link here :
https://tradenation.com/en-gb/naked-trader/
(Press Guaranteed stop under the stop button).
Raspberry Pi has soared higher on speculation, but I think it is crazily overvalued and will simply retreat back down again sooner than later!
More than happy to short it, TN and SCO don't cover it, but Spreadex allows shorts in it, link here:
https://www.spreadex.com/account-application/?tid=3438
Dotd got kicked out by a trailing stop for a just above break even, looking to buy that one back when level 2 strengthens. I had a very good run with Ewg and took profits of £1,640 for the website. Exil got stopped for a small loss.
Deadline for a takeover bid for Spire has been extended, this is probably good news and might mean a deal will come.
Given valuing Spire is probably quite tricky discussions over price are likely heated.
Still, there is a decent chance here and I am sure most of Spire shareholders will be just happy to get out!
There are one or two more trades but I have to save those for my subscribers, after all they have to get something extra don't they.
If you'd like to subscribe let me know. Well, it isn't strictly a subscription, you only pay once and you get till I stop doing it, likely when I kick the bucket!
I can't be bothered with monthly or yearly payments so once in, you're in and that's it.
You get all the website material and trades delivered to your inbox earlier than the site is updated every other Thursday, extra trades, any US trades and high risk ideas I use for my sipp.

Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:
"Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.
But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.
I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.
Boy, what a gripper!
Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.
The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!
Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.
And they are all certain of their own brilliance...
Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..
Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!
Link here: https://amzn.to/3QNhAHY
I've enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Money".
It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.
if you want to better with how you invest, trade or spend money it's a very worthwhile read!
Amazon link here:
Spreadbetting
Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.
Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.
Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".
It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.
It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.
Buy and read! Amazon link: https://amzn.to/46v2hcg

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.
The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".
The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.
If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
