Looking forwards to seeing some of you soon on the 20th for the seminar. Thanks for some interesting answers from those of you who have sent back the questionaire already.
Space is starting to run out as is shortly the early bird discount so if you fancy spending a day with me, live markets and some beginners and improvers lob me a mail for details.
There'll be lots of fun, treats, Yorkshire tea, Starbucks coffee, mini full Englishes, great food as well tons of market stuff. Can't wait to meet you all!
Had a great day out at the London Marathon. Sadly just volunteering rather than running.
It's amazing what a difference the crowd makes to the runners. The support just gets people over the line. My friend said the support really helped everyone, just when they were flagging.
I'm happy to report my friend and her running team raised over £150,000 for the dementia revolution charity. Amazing. Thanks to some of you who I know contributed.
We had an amazing day cheering runners on as volunteers for the charity. It is stunning to see a group of decent people trying hard both for their own personal challenge and to help others.
It is a beacon of light to see the endeavour of the runners set against the evil side of humanity, bombings etc.
Let's not underestimate how hard it is to run a marathon. It is really hard work and takes months of tough training in all weathers.
It was great to see both the top runners go by (That speed!) and normal bods. Some brilliant costumes, how do they run in those?
I would love to do it but the old knees aren't up to it. I guess I will stick to volunteering and contributing. Well done if you ran it.
My son and myself had a fun sunny weekend in Bournemouth!
Managed to walk to our hotel along the beach. No room ready of course. So after some lunch a walk to the very attractive Bournemouth FC stadium.
Lovely staff, lovely fans, lovely small stadium. I usually moan about having to stand up for nearly 2 hours to watch dire football but the Fulham fans won me over.
They'd brought beach style inflatables and despite the side being already relegated had a blast throughout and we even won the game!
The hotel was pretty awful - the marriott highcliffe. A great setting with a great view ruined by terrible rooms, terrible services and a laughable "leisure centre"
I won't bore you with a list of what this hotel gets wrong. But top of the list would be non working air con, bathrooms that haven't been fixed since 1970, diabolical service, and "technical problems".
They have a pool so we thought we'd go for a swim. "Sorry no towels" was the first sentence from the reception. Frankly with the manky floors, and the dirt I was quite glad, at least I wasn't going to catch anything.
We wandered around Bournemouth. The arcades are fun but designed to relieve you of as much money as they can as fast as possible!
Some very decent food places. A fun pier and it was great to watch so many on the beaches having a lovely time.
Myself and son had a great bonding session and overall hotel apart,it was a lovely Bournemouth weekend. If you get the chance go there on a sunny weekend, just find a decent hotel!
We're off next week for a quick bit of sun and fun in Spain. Flying to Madrid as never been there. After that the train from Madrid to Malaga, then back home.
Goodness the prices outside school holidays!
Easyjet flights as cheap as chips. Just reminds me of the prices us parents have to put up with during the hols.
I met some very interesting and lovely characters at the beginner/improver seminar. Well catered for medically with two dentists and a doctor so I knew anything wrong with me that day, no need to panic!
Glad you enjoyed the mini full breakfasts, I had three this time. The hotel excelled with the food I think. And just great to see so many people of all ages and jobs getting on. Please let me know if you didn't get the notes via email the day after.
Good luck with everything and remember level 2 takes a while to sink in. I reckon you beginners have a decent list of ideas!
No events for a while now but there is a new date May 20th with a large early bird discount on offer mail me at robbiethetrader with "May interested" in the subject line.
Cheers for the feedback from Monday's event. I was amazed at how many stayed at the end and you got a bit of a reward for that! And thanks for the lovely feedback including this one: "It exceeded expectations. It was even more relaxed and crammed with pearls that I had anticipated and you are a most gifted communicator and inspiring without wishing to embarrass you..."
Of course not! Everyone loves praise.. keep it coming!!
Naked Rambling
Game of Thrones (*****) SPOILER ALERT! At last the battle episode.
Apparently the actors worked 55 long gruelling days on it and it
is brilliant.
But hardly any of the main characters were killed which was a surprise.
Nice ending - the Night King was looking way too smug and deserved that end. Anyone need a security guard? I give you Ayra.
Pretty crummy army though, bit too reliant on the boss being alive (or dead?)
I have been missing Cercei though. Now her rivals have been reduced I expect she is ready. She'd better be ready for Ayra!
Some viewers moaned about the battle scenes being too dark. This is the problem with watching things on mobiles!
I think the show should end with the main characters being fried by a dragon.
Sorry," says the dragon. "My eyesight is terrible now.. honestly, if I'd known it was you lot obviously I wouldn't have burned you alive."
Four in A Bed (****) is such a great show. A chance to poke around B and B's and watch passive aggressive owners dig the knife into their rivals.
Nothing better than one owner slagging off the rival who then will go crazy and find ammunition.
It's great for me as I don't have office politics working on my own (except with the cats) so this fills in the gap and reminds me why I love not working.
Line of Duty (****). Still entertainment though the plot holes make it harder every episode.
I mean, you're in a Travelodge. You have £50,000 in notes. Who would leave them sitting on the table?
House keeping!" You wouldn't see the housekeeper for dust when he or she scarpers with the loot.
Obviously Hastings isn't going to be "H". Though I expect AC-3 will try its best to put him in the frame.
My money is on Kate Fleming still. But with more series to go one suspects the real H won't be caught.
Bad Banks (*****) All 4. Lots of great twists and turns and it's great not knowing any of the actors - it's worth putting up with the subtitles. If you speak German then there is no excuse!
High Maintenance (*****) continues in fine form. Funny, sad and wise all at the same time. A hidden gem.
The Widow (**) came to a less than great conclusion with Kate still spotless after her jungle spree.
Cats should be kept indoors says a wildlife expert because they kill too many birds.
Just try telling a cat what to do and see where it gets you.
Luckily my two are terrible hunters. In their minds of course they are brilliant and in the one hour of the day they are awake (7-8pm) they
stalk a pigeon couple in the trees.
This couple enjoy taunting them. Husband pigeon looks them. "Lazy fat cats," he coos. "You'll never get us."
Wife says: "Shall we have a s*** on them for the craic?"
Artificial Intelligence at Amazon offices are already being used to fire human staff. The AI monitors staff and sends out paperwork to fire them with no human intervention.
How much longer will it be till AI realises humans are pretty useless, lazy and unproductive so why not just kill us all?
Start with the ones who take the long fag breaks?
New scrabble words are being allowed including "antivaxxer".
But surely there is a fundamental flaw?
There's only one "x" in the scrabble box. And it's a ten letter
word.
You could really only do it with a blank and a lot of luck. Chances of
putting down this word? Zero.
SEMINAR NEWS
New date May 20th 2019 near Heathrow
Email me for details at robbiethetrader with "May seminar interested". There
is a decent early bird discount on offer.
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks.
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Some recent feedback:
He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Wow. It has been an unexpectedly very strong few weeks with the
accounts bulging.
The only thing is just by writing that sentence makes me uneasy as the market loves kicking you somewhere nasty when feeling smug.
How much more is there to go is the question.
I like this kind of market. It seems to be pushing quality up and hammering the crap.
If you can quit crap and buy more of the quality then it is currently a lovely market.
So I haven't really had to do a lot and been spending my time writing fiction rather than looking at the screen that much. (Also lazing around watching Game of Thrones/Four in a Bed and eating twixes obvs.)
Those of you who get the email sub with the odd higher-risk trade for my sipp will know I bought Solid State (SOLI).
I have bought SOLI this time for the ISA now rating it as not so high risk anymore thus worthy of an isa buy.
It makes computing, power and communication products and looks underpriced.
What I really like is it keeps upgrading its profits forecasts but it gives actual figures rather than something vague, (£3.5m adjusted tax before profit) the company should be applauded for this.
It isn't weighed down by debt either so a big thumbs up from me for this one!
I think Solid State could very easily add one or two quid to its price. It is
quite hard to buy this week so a good sign for further upside.
I've bought some Gamma Comms (GAMA). (I've actually held these already since 2015 with massive gains for the site).
A very strong performance indeed with profits sharply higher last time and a decent dividend increase too.
This tech based provider to the business market goes from strength to strength continually winning contracts.
The shares aren't cheap after recent rises but I got some on very recent weakness, prob profit taking and it is worth paying for this quality.
I've been buying at the sell price using DMA (come to a seminar and will show you how to do this live with some real trades!)
I've made big profits on Computacentre (CCC) once or twice and I dived in again here.
It looks very cheap compared to, say its peer Softcat.
Its recent trading update was very bullish and above expectations. It even says challenging economic conditions are not stopping its customers from investing in tech.
Avon Rubber (AVON) shares always fall a lot on a statement! So you can nearly always buy on the morning of one of those which is what I did.
It's because the headline figures have been looking poor. But see beyond those and the market starts to mark the share price up.
Its order book for its masks is booming with very large orders coming in from the USA.
Its slightly odd milk business is seeing signs of improvement as well.
I had a look at a new issue, Loungers - a chain of all day cafes. I've decided not to buy for now - this isn't a great area of the market and the shares look fully priced anyhow.
Profits taken on Rosenblatt of £947. It reached target and more and results were fine but I sold yesterday as the shares look priced about right at around the quid mark. GVC has just soared and pretty much got to target way faster than I would have imagined with massive leaps so profit banked at £1,639. I'll re-buy on weakness probably as I think they can get back up to the 750 area. They are weak today so fingers poised on the buy button!
Elsewhere Synthomer is going very well and shares continue to lift after last week's very decent statement. Entertainment One continues to attract buyers as a possible buy out. Safecharge goes well and went ex dividend today for 7p which accounts for today's fall.
AB Dynamics continues its great rise and the fall today is again due to ex dividend day today.
XP Power shares still power on with 3000 looking a likely target and even quite soon. Plenty of buyers out there.
Next Fifteen looks good, with buyers around, can it push up through 600?

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
