I'm not smarter than an 8-year-old

**Next Update Wednesday February 27Th **

***Spend A Day With Me In March!***

My next seminar is on Friday March 1st near Heathrow. If you want details on that seminar email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "March seminar interested" in the subject line and I'll send you details, there is an early bookers' discount available (but not for much longer)... more details below too.

And there is a follow up on March 22nd for those who have been to a seminar already - we do level 2, live trading, research, finding new companies and timing tricks all day! Mail me with "follow up interested" in the subject line.

*****
It's half term next week so I am going to use that as a handy excuse not to update next week and I'll be back as usual here on Wednesday Feb 27th. I'll probably be out and about doing stuff with my lovely lad, and probably a lot of football in the park!
Hey look when you are your own boss you can do what you like. A week off? That sounds like a good idea! You'll just have to cope on your own next week. Stand on your own two feet for a change and stop being so needy okay?

I'll be mailing all of you coming to the seminar on March 1st with final details in the week beginning Feb 25th.. can't wait to meet you all and I hope we have a fab day together.
Well I guess I ought to say Happy Valentine's day.. but just remember: never fall in love with a share!
Have you had enough of all the Valentine's spam? It will stop now.
I have never had so many offers to buy total crap which the Mrs would not like! The worst was a valentines offering for cheaper parking at the airports!
We went out for a great meal yesterday.. always better the day before, after all it is such a con to go out on the day itself. Indeed it is, you could argue, a bit over the top.
Christopher needed some help with his homework so I patronisingly offered to help him. Easy stuff for me, obviously.
"Right," I said confidently.
"Personification.." I gulped.
What the hell is that? I can't remember. "Metaphors" I gulped again. I can only remember similies (like it was yesterday)
"What is being personified in this sentence?" said the homework.
"It's the wind," said Christopher.
"Yes, correct son, well done," I bluffed.
Next: "What does the sentence mean".
What do they mean what does the sentence mean?I totally froze. Indeed I crashed and burned. Well, what does it mean? I went blank.
"Erm, let's ask mum when she comes home," I said.
Look, she used to be a teacher. I have no idea what we are supposed to put. The sentence means, well what it means doesn't it?
We moved onto maths. Right I'm quite good at maths.
"What does perpendicular mean?" asked Christopher.
"Erm... I think it means it stands up on its own or something, let's google it.." was my offer. Thank God for google it was tough in my day, no google or computers...
"What's an equalateral triangle?"
"Hang on let me get into Google, actually even better let's play football and mum will help you with your homework..."
And this is just aged 8. What's going to happen next year? I am going to have to do some serious revision.
I realise now I can't remember anything at all from school. This is all I can remember:
Shakespeare wrote in Iambic pentameter, Peter The Great was weird and had a bushy beard, I can for some strange reason recite a Browning poem, and I know the French for knackered is epuise and the capital of Denmark is Copehagen (tricky one that).
And that is the lot. And a fat good any of the above has done me. Well, I guess I can read and write, so that must be something.
Anyway who cares? I must have done something right - at least ten people a day want to link with me on linkedin so there ! (Please don't ask to link to me!)
As long as he can get experience on the decks at some point that is the main thing, there is big money to be had being a DJ !

I'm very chuffed at the feedback coming in from the last couple of seminars.

Even better many of you have been to the last few seminars have been making decent money using the things I taught you and that is so fantastic to hear.

If you missed the last one the next one is coming soon.. on March 1st and there is a decent early bird discount on offer... (though not for much longer!)

Come and spend a day with me and some lovely readers mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "March seminar interested" in the subject line.

Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch!

If you mail me I will then send you details and a full agenda of what is covered. Also more details below somewhere.

My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.

A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!

**Follow Up Seminar - March 22Nd**

A follow up with me will be on March 22nd... You must have been on a previous basic one of mine to qualify.

The last one was great fun so I can't wait - I know some of you who came to the last one want to come again! It is all day level 2, research, finding new stuff, timing and live trading. Who knows what will happen!

If you are interested mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "follow up interested" in the subject line.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News

**** BOOKING OPEN FOR FRIDAY MARCH 1ST *****
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on March 1st

Price is £590 plus vat. There is currently a decent early bookers discount off that price - mail for details!
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "March seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling

Had any yummy horsemeat recently?
Things are going to get worse aren't they? This is just the start of all kinds of ready meal horrors.
What's next? Horse in margarine? Nothing would surprise.
Lucky we have always steered clear of ready meals and cook everything from scratch.
I taught my 8-year-old how to spot the most unhealthy stuff, it is easy, the longer the list of ingredients the worse it is.
And the more it pretends to be healthy mentioning words like "farm", "fresh" "fat free" the worse it is going to be!
You'll soon be able to pay extra not to sit next to or near under 10-year-olds on flights...
about £20 apparently!
Surely we can now extend this to others to:
How about extra charges to sit away from anyone:
over 20 stone
Who makes small talk the whole time
who taps incessantly on I products
Who does silent farts thinking the bad food smell will cover it up
Fiddles and scratches "bits"
I would be happy to pay £50 for removal of all that.
Hard finished this week, great series hope there is a second.
Theo is leaving Dragons Den, shame as he seems very genuine.
Meanwhile Duncan came over badly in a Sunday Times feature. Said he wanted to leave too but he had to stay as paying off his wife in a divorce was proving so expensive.
How does that work? Surely he can pay off his wife and live happily with the rest of the fortune without having to pick up his Dragons fee.
Still at least we now know why he is always "out".
So with Hilary already gone we are looking for two new dragons.
Could make the show interesting again!
Charlie Brooker is back with a new series of Black Mirror.
Excellent and thought provoking start this week, look forwards to the next.
Well done to Man U for getting an away draw with Real Madrid, good effort, would be great if they won the Champions League for the UK !
Via this link Open a Sporting Index account and there's a £100cash offer - please check terms and conditions which apply.

Do remember if you do bet you ought to treat sports spreadbetting as entertainment - and expect to lose! Also with spreadbetting work out what your max loss could be and make sure you can afford it! In other words if you say backed the favourite at 15 for a fiver and they come nowhere your max loss is £75.

Agree about facebook - the youngsters who leapt onboard when it started,
posting dire photos of them doing things they shouldn't are now grown up and
getting on in their careers and errrrrr wondering if that photo of them
mooning in the disco in Majorca was a good idea!

Nice to think I am not the only unsociable grump to not want to follow the
minutiae of my friends and colleagues mostly boring lives!

I am in the states just now and feel the Starbucks asking name thing is just
more marketing bollocks to get them noticed. If they just speeded up the
service I might go there but americans seem to need all this 'service
bollocks' to make them think they are getting their moneys worth.

Thanks Anne,
well of course I agree, it's nearly all bollocks!

Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.

The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.

I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!

Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!

Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !

Thanks Gabriel!

Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.

I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance

Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..

Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.

I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.

Markets

Well, what to say? Any bad news is still ignored and any time they go down they get bought up again, same since the beginning of the year.

My accounts are awash with cash - just as well as completing on a property purchase on March 1st ! And even after that it needs 200k of renovations! I suspect my spreadbet accounts cash balances are going to take a bashing the next few months...

Just a reminder to new investors: do not expect it to always be this easy.

Just ask anyone who was trading in August 2011 ! The markets can turn on you very fast when you least expect it. So beware.

A magazine "chartist" has announced he is now betting the FTSE to go up after claiming it would go down for the last few months. As he always gets it wrong maybe it is nearly time to go short.

Meanwhile I still have never met a wealthy chartist. I only ever met two and they were both on the verge of selling the big issue..

The portfolio is going so well there really is little point in me really adding much to it.

But I have added some Booker (BOK) - this distributor just keeps on delivering (gettit?) and the share price just sweetly rises a penny or so a day which is fine by me.

A real quality company though let us hope it has not been delivering too much horsemeat in the UK...I got 5,000 at 108.28. I suspect this will turn out to be a very long-term trade.

And I bought some Fenner (FENR) on a spreadbet at 397 - looks to have been oversold recently and looking for a bounceback to the 440 area.

I took some profits on Greencore - I had intended on continuing to run the profits but I could see they were sliding and bigger sellers were coming in, so I sold at 111.8 for a profit of £5,572 and a spreadbet profit of £720.

Total profit then on Greencore is £6,368. Nice trade in which I doubled my money!

It has carried on sliding and looking for a nice re-entry area. If support holds around a pound that could be a nice area to buy back, if it gets back to 90 I will be in with big money!

Highlights

The good times still roll. The whole portfolio continues to push up and the only question is when to take profits, after all the market isn't going to push up foreever...

Filtronic continues to rocket and appears to have settled for now in the low 60s. Profit are huge now, over £10,000 but it might be one of those shares that carries on going up so sticking in there/

Recent trade Huntsworth goes fine though nothing tremendous, hoping for another 3-4p before taking a profit.

RWS reported, it's doing well, up nearly 200 points on this one, nice. The spread is a bit of an irritant though.

Also CML made a nice report today with things ahead of expectations. Wish I hadn't sold some of them a while back as it looks like a fiver could be on the cards, still at least I have a stake!

LOQ's results were excellent yesterday, expected it to dive on profit taking but that did not happen, and it also announced another contract. Now four timed my money on this one and a five timer seems inevitable!

The lovely Porvair announced another contract win today, what a star trade... brilliant profits here and wondering if it can now tackle 200?

Talking lovely, Coastal sits at all time highs and continues to shine and now more than trebled on this brilliant oil play. I suspect a bid will come in here this year at hopefully around the 1800-2000 mark. it is trying to hit 1500 at the mo - those of you who saw my real trades at the seminar are aware profits for me personally are up and over £50,000 on this one.

Telecom Plus made a statement. All looks on track and I would expect a nice steady rise this year. It seems to have cracked the tricky 900 area - cracking a tenner is going to take a few attempts, I would expect 1200 sometime later this year. Website profits of well over £100,000 and personal profits of more £300,000. I just continue a long-term holder.

It is holding a big meeting with distributors with some big news for them in March.

Vectura also reported all is on track, though the in line statement did not really move the shares soon and Chime keeps on going up - a good few points higher this year and still in this from 50p so a nice times four and a great profit on the ones bought more recently in the 140s and the spreadbet.

Low and Bonar is trying to push through 70p and Optos is having a good run.

Vislink (VLK) is shooting up nicely and looking for it to go to 37p ish. Management already forecasts some nice profit rises over the next 3 years and it looks cheap and at some point should get a rerating. Very low risk too and it is in a hot sector.

Pendragon sits well higher than when I bought, still think there is 20% to come as long as the market remains strong. Hoping for about 24-25p here.

Nichols where I now sit on a fabulous profit is up again after telling the market it is ahead of expectations - it has tons of cash so I'd expect them to announce some kind of big dividend with results in March.

NMC Health looks like it might get into the FTSE 250 if it does funds will buy in which could lift it further. Any more move in the share price could get it in the index.

Costain seems in the middle of a deserved rerating at last and patience is paying off here, I wonder if it can get up to 300?

Trifast is having a remarkable run, it is tempting to look at taking some profit soon, I just wonder though whether it can get into the 60s first.

I'm hoping for a bid soon on Alternative Networks (they already turned one bidder down) and in the meantime there has been great capital growth and a massive dividend as they have loads of cash. It's now trying to crack the tricky 300p area. Had a good go at it yesterday, nearly there!

Dialight has been heading higher again after a spells around a tenner it has lifted up above 1100. I remember so well buying these at 150 ish at a seminar in 2009 ! I never thought I'd still have them three years later at over a tenner.

Direct Line has proved a surprise nice winning trade and has sped over 200. I was thinking of taking profits at over 200 but it seems so strong staying with it for the mo. I laugh as I only bought because all the magazine tipsters said don't buy!

. Sepura's report wasn't enough to get it through the 100p area ..100 surely must be cracked sooner or later. Not quite yet.

Iomart has really motored up recently - getting above 240 looks the next test.

I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.igmarkets.com/nakedtrader

Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Capital Spreads offer

Capital Spreads offers a really excellent book on spreadbetting for those who open accounts through the link below. Spreads are very tight and every trade has to have a stop loss which is excellent discipline to have especially for beginners. Execution is really good I find and they also allow shorts on shares it is hard to get shorts on like say Carpetright or facebook.
To get the offer, click here:

E-mail subscription service

If you want to get the contents of The Naked Trader website into your mailbox instead of waiting for the update to come through, plus exclusively news on the progress of my SIPP from the old Sunday Times column inc new higher risk Aim buys made for that, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with SIPP in the subject line for details of how to get it.

Telecom Plus Offer

Want to quit the rat race? Try and start a new source of income so one day you can tell the boss to stuff it? You could do what I did to escape my grotty office job and become an independent distributor for the Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)
****
Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative.
