Next Update A Day Later Than Normal, Thursday The 14Th **
***Spend A Day With Me In March!***
My next seminar is on Friday March 1st near Heathrow. If you want details on that seminar email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "March seminar interested" in the subject line and I'll send you details, there is an early bookers' discount available, more details below too.
And there is a follow up on March 22nd for those who have been to a seminar already - we do level 2, live trading, research, finding new companies and timing tricks all day! Mail me with "follow up interested" in the subject line.
*****
I'm being taken out to lunch in town on Wednesday, so the next update will be Thursday instead of the usual Wednesday. That's Feb 14th...
Hurrah! Back on the mend... A couple of days ago I was lying in bed thinking Is this virus thing ever going to end?
Just at the point where I was about to give up and take antibiotics, it cleared up!
I only ever take antibiotics as a very last resort but the cough, headaches and general lousiness had really got to me by Monday after a grotty weekend.
Then all of a sudden... bong, I felt better and there is nothing like the end of an illness to make you feel good.
Though sending a vast cheque to the taxman knocked it back a touch!
Thanks to all of you who mailed me with best wishes.. it's impossible to reply to you all personally but the sentiments are noted, my thanks. I am a bit behind answering mails but on a catch up.
Well, last night was unusual.. there was a father and son reading evening at his school isn't that sweet.
Yes, me and other year 3 Dads were invited to read short passages from their favourite children's books.
Each Dad could choose something from his childhood to read to the boys and other dads.
I chose something I didn't think anyone else would come up with.
Yes, folks I took them back to the days when if boys were bad their teachers were allowed to beat them with canes!
And the boys used to sort out fights amongst themselves by a good old boxing match.
Times was hard in those days!
Not only couldn't you not pause live TV, there wasn't any TV! Or I phones, planes, the list is endless..
Yes it is something my father (rip) was into and that is the stories of Billy Bunter that ran weekly for decades mainly between the world wars.
He collected the stories (every Tuesday, half a old pence).
And it goes to show the human race doesn't change.. the first story I came across when looking through some of the comics called The Magnet?
Unbelievable the headmaster of the school is being blackmailed .. by.. wait for it.. a loan company !!
This is based in the year 1909, yes wonga was live and well back then in a different guise.
The CEO of this loan company's son is about to be expelled from the school for bad behaviour.
But the head is told if his son is expelled, his loan will be called in and he will be shown up to the whole school.
The head argues, get this... that he didn't realise at the time what high rate of interest he would be paying!
I guess the world never changes whatever century it is.
So the Dads all sat in chairs in a circle, then in an inside circle the boys sit around on beanbags.
Then right in the centre is what the boys were most interested in:crisps and biscuits.
Some of the dads looked a bit nervous. After all an audience of 7 and 8 year olds getting off their heads on crisps and sugar isn't the easiest and soon they were all writhing around on the bags.. sitting still, are you kidding?
Anyway one of the teachers gamely started the ball rolling with some Harry Potter. The next two dads did well against a backdrop of crisp munching.
I was half way down the order so I figured by the time it came to me at least the munching will have stopped.
The Dad before me said: "There is some spanking in this one..."
So when it came to my turn it was too hard for me to resist.
"No spanking I am afraid, " I said. "However the good news is there is some bondage."
I got a laugh anyhow!
So I read my piece from a Billy Bunter story from 1909. The boarding school lads are having a Xmas pudding competition.
They have mixed the cake. Then a beastly rotter called Herbert steals sixpenny pieces from the pudding when Bunter's head is turned.
He is caught by some other boys though, and soon he finds the pudding planted firmly over his head!
I think the boys enjoyed it. Anyhow it was all easier once the crisps had been eaten..
Towards the end time was tight. The teacher told the next Dad he only had a couple of minutes. The Dad coolly ignored her and did 7 minutes.
Then she told the next Dad he only had a couple of pars. He looked a bit annoyed, I think he had been practising for a few days for his big night.
So we ran over a bit but who cared? It was a lovely evening put on by a great school and we are so happy he is there.
I managed to get out of my sick bed (well it is only next door) and see the Fulham Man U game with the lad, taking a hot water bottle with me..
Worth going to: a super entertaining game. The lights went out for 15 minutes, very atmospheric! We lost, but with honour and could have won it if one or two things had swung our way. Man U look a great team and they are going to win the league.
I had asked Christopher to run on the pitch lie on the ball and ask Wayne Rooney to kick him so he'd get sent off, but he didn't do it.
We played better without our star player Berbatov. Ferguson is smart: He played Berbatov against the lower teams never against the top teams. He slows things up too much against the very good sides.
I'm very chuffed at the feedback coming in from you saying it was worth the journey, this is so rewarding for me. Glad you all enjoyed it, a few of you kept me going till 9.30pm despite the weather!
Even better many of you have been to the last few seminars have been making decent money using the things I taught you and that is so fantastic to hear.
If you missed this one the next one isn't too far away on March 1st and there is a decent early bird discount on offer... (though not for much longer!)

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on March 1st
Price is £590 plus vat. There is currently a decent early bookers discount off that price - mail for details!
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "March seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Darn, got done for speeding again. Still, not a problem..
The Mrs says she will take the points for me... no-one will ever find out will they?
She said something about "nailing it" today. I think she has been watching too much Simon Cowell !
What on earth is the fuss about gay marriage?
Let's face it, gays will do marriage way better than straights. I bet they will be tremendous affairs with great music.
I've been to a few English ones and in general they have been snoresome. Except mine of course - that was at Kempton Racecourse on raceday with John McCririck as my MC !
Best weddings I have been to? One Indian and one Jewish. They both know how to have fun.
The Guardian Magazine did a holiday feature: Billy Connolly and Pamela Stephenson off on a luxury holiday.
I was looking forwards to reading it but it was rather dull, everything was just fantastic, hotel amazing etc.
So how disappointing was it to read at the end of the article the holiday had been paid for by a travel company!
With their money you would really think they could have paid for it themselves and then done an independent feature.
So beware when you read holiday reviews - remember nearly always the writer is getting the holiday free. Any bad stuff is not going to be mentioned - so always read with a pinch of salt and check the tripadvisor reviews!
On TV, not much on anymore so it is back to DVDs! However Girls remains very watchable (sky Atlantic not Sky Babes!)
I am also enjoying "Hotel" which always makes me laugh.Hapless owner Tony shows how not to run a hotel business - charging too little for events and not hiring the right staff.
It really is a real life Fawlty Towers, quite amazing.
Do try and catch "Hard" - Sky Arts on Friday nights - just brilliant.

Do remember if you do bet you ought to treat sports spreadbetting as entertainment - and expect to lose! Also with spreadbetting work out what your max loss could be and make sure you can afford it! In other words if you say backed the favourite at 15 for a fiver and they come nowhere your max loss is £75.

Agree about facebook - the youngsters who leapt onboard when it started,
posting dire photos of them doing things they shouldn't are now grown up and
getting on in their careers and errrrrr wondering if that photo of them
mooning in the disco in Majorca was a good idea!
Nice to think I am not the only unsociable grump to not want to follow the
minutiae of my friends and colleagues mostly boring lives!
I am in the states just now and feel the Starbucks asking name thing is just
more marketing bollocks to get them noticed. If they just speeded up the
service I might go there but americans seem to need all this 'service

Thanks Anne,
well of course I agree, it's nearly all bollocks!

Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.

If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..
Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.
I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!
This compares to £473 direct from advfn inc vat so this deal saves you over a whopping £120! ADVFN level 2 also includes all the live trades made through Plus Markets which I find invaluable.
To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!
More on level 2 in my book and I spend hours on it at my seminars. So if you get level 2 and want to learn how to use it properly live, book my seminar!
ADVFN Bronze Offer
To take up the offer, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with Bronze in the subject line and I will tell you how to claim the deal.
Bronze is included inside the level 2 deal.
Advfn Silver Exclusive Offer

Markets
Reminder: Next site update will be a day later than normal on Thu 14th.
Well, what a year !! Fear seems to have left the market for the moment. I thought last year was good but this start has been the best ever, I must be up at least a hundred grand.
However, we must remember that fear can return in an instant and glorious profits can be wiped out fast.
Indeed, if you are currently congratulating yourself that you are a master of the markets do be careful - as the market enjoys wiping out smugness!
They went down on Monday but were simply bought up again. Instead of fear we have greed at the mo, when it goes down, money comes in rather than going out. Good sign. Well, short-term at least. Do not mention the word "Greece". Ssshhhhh.
Given on March the 1st I have to hand over nearly £800,000 of my market gains to buy a property I will have to do a bit of selling near the end of the month although I have already banked a lot of the money. Better, most of it comes from spreadbetting rather than the ISA.
Those of you who've been to seminars have a pretty good idea of the hundreds of thousands of profit I've made from spreadbetting!
So with a few days feeling ill the last thing I felt like doing was any trading, when you are out of it and not in touch with the markets it is wise to stand aside.
Still I did get the odd trade in here and there!
I bought back a few Vitec Group (VTC) at 603.7. Awaiting a statement there, and if positive I would be hoping for a push back to the 700 area. Seems for now to have firm support at 600 and looks cheap around here. Seems an unloved share but anything positive will lift it quickly.
Filtronic (FTC) has proved a super dooper trade and I added yet more to the ones I have already more than trebled on and the others where up 50% quite quickly. I am always happier averaging up than down and this is probably my last average up which was done at 46.4.
Been through the reasons a few times, but the main one is it is still rated much lower than its 4G peers and brokers that follow it reckon this is now worth at least 70/80p.
I've nabbed some Huntsworth (HNT) at 44.7 - with the idea of a quickish ten or 20 per cent - a nice report yesterday made me dive in, all is on the up - the only fly in the ointment is the debt but they are starting to pay it off, looking for it to peak around 53-55 where it did before. Short term there is very good support at 44p ish however if that breaks I will be out quick with a small loss.
If the support stays at 44p, could be a nice ride up.
I got a few Brammer (BRAM) on a spreadbet at 318 - seems a rather nice company this one so entered on the basis I might add if it goes up but will equally quit quickly if it goes down and this is the wrong price to get in.
The last Kentz trade got stopped out - as I said last time I was raising the stop under the price and it triggered at 423 - I missed the top at near 440. Still, it did bank a profit of £240.
It's silly having shorts open in a strong up market so Tesco went at 354 for a profit of £30.
There is so much profit to be banked but still waiting as the market is so strong.
Highlights
Well, what can I say? The whole portfolio continues to push up and the only question is when to sell? Well, not while the market is still going up I'm not! A few of mine have reported and nothing much to worry about.
Low and Bonar produced a decent report this week and has pushed through the 60p I was looking for - was tempted to take profits but looks like it might push on further so continuing to hold, been a nice trade indeed.
Greencore reported. I thought the statement was okay though not wildly exciting and as it is a strong market I'll keep it going for now - I have already doubled and a bit.
Creston reported too: The future looks pretty rosy there at the moment but I think it is going to take time for it to get higher, however it could easily rise to test 100.
LOQ today comes up with yet another brilliant contract win this time with a massive waterpark in Pennsylvania - what a tremendous share this is .. Now four timed my money on this one but I feel more to come and it has cracked 400 today.
Why did I take part profits in Avon - this super duper share just keeps going, still I have quite a few so it's okay!
Talking super duper, Coastal continues to shine and now nearly trebled on this brilliant oil play. I suspect a bid will come in here this year at hopefully around the 1800 mark. it is trying to hit 1500 this week - those of you who saw my real trades at the seminar are aware profits for me personally are up and over £50,000 on this one.
Optos continues to climb along with many others - Vislink (VLK) is shooting up nicely and looking for it to go to 37p ish. Management already forecasts some nice profit rises over the next 3 years and it looks cheap and at some point should get a rerating. Very low risk too and it is in a hot sector.
Pendragon sits a bit higher than when I bought, still think there is 20% to come as long as the market remains strong.
Nichols where I now sit on a fabulous profit is up again after telling the market it is ahead of expectations - it has tons of cash so I'd expect them to announce some kind of big dividend with results in March. Trying to push up this week
I was going to take profits on NMC Health at 250 which is what I was looking for but noticed it is not far off getting into the FTSE 250, if it does funds will buy in which could lift it further. Any more move in the share price could get it in the index.
Costain seems in the middle of a deserved rerating at last and patience is paying off here, I wonder if it can get up to 300?
Trifast has leapt nicely - I hope it will have another go at defeating the 50p mark. Trying hard still, maybe statement needed
I'm hoping for a bid soon on Alternative Networks (they already turned one bidder down) and in the meantime there has been great capital growth and a massive dividend as they have loads of cash. It's now trying to crack the tricky 300p area.
The lovely Porvair has been motoring up very nicely in the last week - can it hit the 200 mark?
Telecom Plus reports next week.. it seems to have cracked the tricky 900 area - cracking a tenner is going to take quite some doing. . Website profits of well over £100,000 and personal profits of more £300,000. I just continue a long-term holder.
Vectura has climbed nicely, hoping we will get news soon and Chime keeps on going up - a good few points higher this year and still in this from 50p so a nice times four and a great profit on the ones bought more recently in the 140s and the spreadbet.
Dialight has been heading higher again after a spells around a tenner it has lifted up above 1100. I remember so well buying these at 150 ish at a seminar in 2009 ! I never thought I'd still have them three years later at over a tenner.
Direct Line has proved a surprise nice winning trade and has sped over 200. I was thinking of taking profits at over 200 but it seems so strong staying with it for the mo. I laugh as I only bought because all the magazine tipsters said don't buy!
. Sepura continues to go for it and 100 surely must be cracked sooner or later. Not quite yet.
Iomart has really motored up in the last few days - getting above 240 looks the next test.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.igmarkets.com/nakedtrader
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time.
Trades first reported Wednesday afternoons under "Markets" section..
