I can't stand the rain

***Next Update Friday Feb 7**

Please note I do not use Twitter or Facebook, if anyone is on there with my name or the website name it is a fake. Please let me know if you see anyone posting as me.

**Spend A Day With Me Monday After Next On March 17Th 2014

My next seminar on Monday Feb 3rd is now SOLD OUT. I am really sorry and have had to disappoint a few of you. However I had already managed to get a bigger room and capacity was reached, so sorry to turn some of you down.

But I have fixed a new date, so you can now book March 17th near Heathrow Airport.

If you want details on how to spend a day with me and live markets email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "March seminar interested" in the subject line and I'll send you details, more details below too.

Those of you coming to the sold out event should have returned your questionaires by now, if you haven't, please fill out and return Asap!

*****
I look forwards to seeing quite a few of you on Monday, indeed my biggest seminar yet but that's great, I enjoy the atmosphere and banter of a few more. More on that later. But I hope you all have a great day and we discover one or two nice trades.

Because the seminars knock me out for days afterwards, the next update will be next Friday (7th) rather than Wednesday.

Well we settled back into our routine after the Dubai trip.

Standing on the touchline watching the U 9s play during some heavy rain and wind I did give sitting by the pool in the sun a lot of thought.

Anyway after an hour and a half the game was over and I was dreaming of the sofa and some hot tea and toast.

Then just as we were leaving another team said they were one short and could Christopher play for them in their game. Arrrggggggghhhhh!!

One extra hour standing in the rain. Lovely!!

We have a big day on Saturday!

Christopher's under 9 football team is on the pitch at half time in the premier league game between Fulham and Southampton!

They are all taking penalties in front of 25,000 people!

We have been practising penalties like mad. Each boy only gets one shot!

How nervewracking is that going to be!

He reckons he won't be too nervous and he is going to score and has some great celebration planned!
So if you are at the game give an extra loud cheer when you hear the match announcer Diddy David Hamilton announce Christopher's turn to have a go.

They get to dribble the ball a bit first then shoot. It is going to be a nervous first half for us parents.

Hopefully he can do it, he is now top scorer in his league, two hat tricks and a five timer in the last game... They've been told their kit has to be clean and their boots clean (as if anyone in the crowd cares...) I'll let you know next week if he got the ball in the net or if he played it like Torres.

Big controversy among the "rugby dads" at the mo. Officials want to make youth rugby non competitive. If a team is well ahead then the best players of the other team should switch sides etc.

Made it into the Sunday Times. Dads are rightly cross and some have pulled their teams out of matches in protest.

It is crazy. Life and sport is competitive. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. And youngsters need to know that.

The football kids don't like losing but they then try and play better and it makes winning all the better.

Anyone who has traded has got to see the new movie "The Wolf Of Wall Street".

We really enjoyed it though a warning it is very long and could have done with 30 mins edited out.

Still, it is fascinating, all about the fear and greed of trading rooms.

Leonardo Di caprio stars in the movie based on the life of convicted stock market fraudster Jordan Belfort.

He snorts his way through the white stuff from small-time fraudster to big-time crook via a penny share pump and dump boiler room.

He kind of sums up the numerous crooks knocking about the stock market and epitomises greed for money at any cost, certainly at a cost to the soul.

Apparently it sets the record for the number of f words in one movie, over 500. I can't say I effing noticed.

We saw it at a great new posh cinema, all deep seats and luxury. Home made ice cream and stuff. Very nice.

I suspect this is the future of cinema. You pay a lot but get a lot back. Well there has to be some compensation once you're an old fart.

I look forwards to meeting those of you coming to the seminar on Monday! It got sold out last week so apologies to those of you I had to turn down. But most of you are coming to the Mar 17th one instead. I managed to get them to open up another part of the room to take a few more but then I reached capacity.

Good news is the chef has promised to make us waffles with chocolate sauce fresh and live during the first break.... can't wait to eat th... I mean meet you all!

I really enjoy these days and meeting readers. Every one ends up being a bit different as it all depends on who is there and sometimes there are some very different roads we end up in.

Often seminars are also great for my trading as inevitably in all that time some shares come up that I might not otherwise have spotted and researched.

In the years I've been doing them I remember some fantastic ones popping on screens, the best one was the seminar where Mulberry kept appearing at 250... I remember buying the following Monday and although I sold out too early at 950 it was a tremendous profit. And another really good one was GB Group at 25p at the seminar and pushes 130 now.

So selfishly hoping to discover something new myself! Those of you coming doors open 9.30am... follow the signs to Naked Trader..

Please remember I am paying for your parking but you MUST give your reg number in to reception or else you will get a parking ticket!

Please come and register from 9.30am and then find a seat - coffees will be there waiting for you and there is coffee and tea on tap all day. The chef promises me there will be great snacks and lunch! It better be good or there will be trouble..

Grab a coffee and some choc and just relax, I promise to be gentle with you all. I hope you all enjoy the day, as it's live from the markets who knows what will come up. And as you know I talk plain English with none of that idiotic jargon. See you there!

Thanks for your continued nice feedback about the last seminar and a lot of feedback coming in from those of you who've been to the seminars over the years and are making good money using my hints. It's so rewarding especially a couple of mails where I have been told I changed their lives. That is brilliant.
My seminar Feb 3rd is now sold out but I have got a new date, March 17th and the good news is there is a decent early bookers discount!

Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "March seminar interested" in the subject line.

Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch!

My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.

A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News

FEBRUARY 3RD SOLD OUT

New Date: March 17Th Near Heathrow

Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on Mar 17th

Price is £590 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Mar seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling

There's a big surprise! Ed Ballsup's latest wheeze, back to 50p top rate.

Yes, back to the old tax and spend. And stats show that putting up the rate to 50p doesn't make anything much at all.

Indeed it slows growth and eases productivity. No government should ever take the lion's share off anyone in tax (which it is after NI)

Labour seem totally moribund (millibund?) on economic policy and seem intent on destroying the growth we are already seeing.

Labour seem to have no answers at all apart from they think if they keep saying "Millionaire's tax cuts" that's enough to win them the election.

I am not so sure. The great British public is not stupid and knows the coalition has done a reasonable job. They need another five years.

If Lab-Lib coalition gets in, last one out of the country turn out the bulbs.

Celeb BB certainly surprised with probably the most entertaining series ever. Probably apart from the one with George Galloway dressed as a cat.

They got lucky with the casting. Man eater Jasmine simply thought she was being paid to pay a role and she did it admirably, give her an Oscar.

Linda Nolan, you've got to feel sorry for her. I'm not quite sure she should have been allowed in considering her fragile state.

You have to hand it to the awful Luisa. She really made the series with her bullying and bickering, great entertainment.

As for Lee it is almost impossible to believe he is past 30 when he acts like he's 18. One great idiot.

The new series of Girls started off in great form with plenty of laughs.

The Mrs is at last addicted to Breaking Bad and we are entering season 4!

And Dragons Den has suddenly re-appeared out of nowhere. The second part of the new series is being shown.

An entertaining start with some slightly bonkers guy asking for a million quid for a system that runs your bath for you at the right temperature.

How ridiculous, Half the fun of a bath is using your toes to twiddle with the taps. Well, that's how I get my kicks folks...

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.

I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.

Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.

The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.

I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!

Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!

Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !

Thanks Gabriel!

Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.

I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance

Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..

Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****

A reminder next Monday's seminar is sold out. So I have added a new date, March 17th. There is a decent early bookers discount email me for details at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "March seminar interested" in the subject line. Sorry to disappoint some of you who were trying to get into the Feb 3rd one.

Well, the portfolio continues to storm up with another good week and a particularly good day today.

However the general markets are all of a lather.

OMG. It's that time again is it? Mention a country and the market takes fright.

This time it's Argentina and China in the frame. Oh and Turkey. That's always been a turkey. Oh and what is happening with tapering announcement coming up too. Perhaps it was a clever excuses for traders to take some recent profits off the table, after all it has been a good run. Or perhaps we are all doomed. In which case I am f

given I have no skills whatsoever in anything, I can't even put a plug on.

Amazingly despite the number of times I say please....I am not a forecaster, I have no idea where the markets are going or if shares are going to tank or not I still get emails along the lines of "Help I don't know what to do, should I get out, or buy?" "Are the markets going to tank" etc etc. I really feel the angst coming through but to be fair I'm not a counsellor...

The answer is: I DON'T KNOW !!! I am not a bullshitter therefore I can't tell you. It is pointless you emailing me asking me what I think. Or anxiously asking whether you should sell your shares.

You have to decide not me. I can't tell you what to do. But you should have a trading plan with every trade. If you don't have that plan you will end up running round the room panicking.

You have to be assertive and take charge of your own destiny not rely on newspapers, tipsters, me or the bulletin boards to tell you what to do.

But talking FTSE we are still in a bull market unless it starts sinking below 6350 ish.

But a reminder about that famous Warren Buffet saying "Buy when all those around you are fearful."

And remember the stock market is a game - there will be many times when you panic sell, Prices are manipulated to make you do that.

Sorry I don't mean to be mean. But if you get into the market, only you can decide how to handle your positions.

Anyway bearing in mind buying when all are fearful, I was certainly looking round for buys rather than sells. And I looked around for shares showing strength during the fear bit.

So first I bought COMS at 6.8 yesterday.

An interesting one, there were so many positives floating about in its recent statements it was hard not to buy it . I especially like "Revenues for the year will be significantly ahead of management expectations driven by significant growth in organic revenues as well as outperformance within Coms' acquired subsidiaries."

It's not really the type of share I normally buy.. it's not made a profit yet and I wonder whether it will need a cash call... but even so I've been won over by all the contract wins and buyouts of other companies.

The management is obviously deeply ambitious and so there could be plenty more to come from this share.

I also took the chance to pick up yet more Fusionex (FXI) getting a further 500 shares at 543.5 - I wish it had been 5,000 shares as they have leapt today on
a contract win, but a significant one as it the first one of its new super whizzy whatever it is!

All my santa claus rally FTSE upbets got closed out by trailing stops, so I made around 3.5 grand instead of 5 if I had got out at the top. Never mind eh, just a bonus.

Portfolio Highlights

Goodness me even more big gains this week with any number of my shares shooting higher. Some great statements from some of mine this week too.

The biggest of which is Fusionex which has now more than doubled for me since I bought in October. Today it really flew on announcing an excellent contract win which could be the first of many.

Renew put out a very confident super statement this morning and that has shot up 10% today already, been a lovely hold and a potential doubler soon.

Quindell has been rocketing up delivering some big profits for me, seems to be rising most days, even on bad market days.

Communisis got awarded a new contract from Lloyds yesterday which the market liked and that one is on the rise.

Recent buy OPG Power goes nicely as it tries to crack 70.

Carpetcrap announced another horrible profits warning yesterday - but the share seems totally disconnected from reality and amazingly remains at 550p despite the fact any other retailer would be at 200.

I don't know how the price is being kept up, something is being swept under the carpet....

My lovely long-term holding in Porvair got another boost with a very super confident statement yesterday.

Scapa and Servelec have done well too.

Telecom Plus has continued to surge and looks likely to hit 2000 soon and given I bought loads at 100 it makes me very happy! It now means I have a massive stake in there worth nearly £700,000. The open positions on the website now total profits of £270,000.

GB Group has doubled with giant profits building. Seeing Machines is going well, and soon I find out if I got any new ones at 5p.

32 Red has had a brilliant time since the start of the year and it is another doubler for me. Kentz continues to shine and I wonder about another bid this year. BTG down a bit today on news but still looks like a long-term winner.

Regeneris sadly has fallen below 300 but is rallying. Sticking with it though. Air stocks Avation and Hangar 8 have both taken off and continue their climb.

RWS, Avon, CML and Loq, (now called accesso) are the long-term stars and all are shining so far this year. Six times on Accesso, trebled on CML, doubled on Avon and doubled on RWS.

And a big cheer for Vimto maker Nichols, what a share!! It has bubbled up 2 and a half times from my original buy. It reported this year and all looks good.
Also three cheers for Cohort which has gone over 200, Entertainment One couldn't quite get above 300 for now .

So all fine for now, but that doesn't mean I might not lose some paper profits if the market really does tank and if it does that I would have to start topslicing. Let's see what happens.

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Dillistone so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far.

Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Capital Spreads offer

Capital Spreads offers a really excellent book on spreadbetting for those who open accounts through the link below. Spreads are very tight and every trade has to have a stop loss which is excellent discipline to have especially for beginners. Execution is really good I find and they also allow shorts on shares it is hard to get shorts on like say Carpetright or facebook.

Telecom Plus Offer

Want to quit the rat race? Try and start a new source of income so one day you can tell the boss to stuff it? You could do what I did to escape my grotty office job and become an independent distributor for the Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on Wednesday afternoons.
