Brilliant to meet so many of you on Monday at the seminar..
Would have been better if I hadn't had a cold and cough and feeling under the weather but judged from feedback it was okay! More in a mo.
Taking a couple of weeks off the site for half-term duties, and we are going to Spain for a few days during half-term to catch at least a bit of light, sunshine and it will be way warmer though not exactly summer!
So while probably not sunning by the pool, we'll be out and about in a hire car wandering around Marbella and Malaga.
Who knows what we will do? All we know is it sounds better than being in the miserably cold and rainy UK for a bit!
Hopefully Christopher as usual will find some locals to play football with. Fulham Vs Barcelona?
I'll let you know how we got on in the next update which will be Feb 26th.
Thanks for all of those of you asking whether Christopher scored his penalty at the half-time penalty shoot-out..
He did! Phew! He ran down then did a cheeky little turn and we thought "Oh no if he misses doing a trick is going to make it look terrible..."
But no, he slotted it home, a lot of his teammates scored too and they had a fantastic time actually taking penalites on a real premier league pitch (till next season when it'll be a championship pitch) in front of 25,000 people.
The fans are great and gave them plenty of support. What a great chance for them all. It was brilliant!! And of course our team Fulham is so rubbish right now the goals scored by the boys were the only goals scored by anyone from Fulham that day.
We got hammered by an excellent and entertaining Southampton team who showed how it should be done.
Looks like we are headed for the championship as the players seem to care little except to pick up their fat pay packets. The only light is we have a new striker starting who looks good. Though of course he happens to be injured (even though he hasn't played yet and cost £12m).
I even got mails from people who were at the game and saw his goal.
It's kind of you and I'll leave it there it is probably boring for you reading about a proud Dad rambling on about his child.
We saw the movie American Hustle last night. Really good fun.
About a conman and his girlfriend and their various escapades. Plenty of laughs and an interesting theme behind it all that we all have the propensity to be, well a little bit bad, and, a lot about male egos!
Well worth seeing if you haven't caught it yet and grateful it was an hour less than The Wolf of Wall Street!
Great to meet so many interesting people at Monday's seminar.
I was a bit under the weather that day so it unusually was a bit of a difficult day for me but managed to keep going.
It's difficult as I wanted to cough and blow my nose all the time but when you have a mike on, you simply have to hold back!
What a lot of fascinating people, pilots, doctors, plumbers, cabbies, restaurant owners, djs, dentists, police... name any type of trade and we probably had it!
I hope a certain someone who should remain nameless enjoys the various pints of beer he got from me!! Oh, someone even spent their birthday with me, I hope the birthday cake I got you was tasty!
Anyway it was great to see so many of you understanding supply and demand and how important level 2 is. And I think we came up with a number of lovely looking trade set ups.
Thanks for all the great feedback, I was a bit worried with my feeling under the weather perhaps my communications skills were lacking more than usual.
But I am flattered as some of you already booked the follow up seminar!
I'll post one piece of very nice feedback from "D".
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
Thanks for the write-up and once again thank you all for the feedback, I really hope it all pays off for those of you that came.
If you missed the sold out event, I have got a new date, March 17th and the good news is there is a decent early bookers discount!

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
New Date: March 17Th Near Heathrow
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on Mar 17th
Price is £590 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Mar seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling
T I think I am going to stop watching PMQs.
It is so pathetic to hear these man shout and jeer at each other. I don't see the point of the whole thing anymore.
The point scoring is so tedious, the speaker can't control anyone.
Surely everyone should remain totally quiet and if they don't like football they get a yellow then a red where they have to leave and aren't allowed in for the next three sessions.
It's so sad. When people should be getting together to try and run the country all they do is make up silly fights. Hopeless the lot of them.
There must be a better way to run the country than this. I, and I bet you - have never been more disillusioned with politicians and whenever one comes on the TV it is the off switch now.
Aren't they just a bunch of smooth-talking conmen/women most of them?
OMG. I agree with a Lib Dem policy! The first time ever! I agree with Nick (!) that you can't ban smoking in cars if there are kids inside.
It's unenforceable and we have too many unenforceable rules as it is. Once you start with something like that, what's next?
It's up to people's own personal responsibility as to whether they smoke in the car or not. The state shouldn't be there to tell us what to do in every situation.
Apparently social media sites like Twitter and Facebook is making us stupid..
Phew, lucky me as I don't use or give a monkeys about either.
Research shows use of the sites make it hard for us to think for ourselves.
It stops us analyising stuff properly and using common sense.
And, well that is no good for trading.
If you throw bulletin boards into the mix then it is not surprising more and more people are losing on the markets. These sites are actually stopping people thinking for themselves.
People are relying on twitter facebook and bulletin boards for stock picks instead of bothering to do any work themselves whatsoever.
We're now into series 4 of Breaking Bad and the Mrs is hooked which is great as we can speed through to where I got to in series 5.
I'm going to watch the last few episodes sparingly as a treat!
Elsewhere on TV, boy it is so bad, there is literally nothing to watch so after Breaking Bad it will be House of Cards.
I still find Dragons Den entertaining though.
Duncan's only there because he needs his fee given his publicised troubles.
Let's face it the entrepreneurs only want Peter or Deborah and use Piers lowball offers as a negotiating tool.
You really wouldn't want an offer from Duncan would you? Can you imagine what he is like at a Monday morning meeting?

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..
Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.
I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.

Next update Feb 26th (half term break)
Still worries around at the moment.. but... there is still support around too.
But definitely more fear knocking about....
I don't feel fear at all when it comes to money... now when it comes to being in charge of a child's bedtime.. that's fear...
The market wants you to feel fear. That is how it makes its money off you after all. It especially makes money off you when it is volatile, trying to get you to sell at the bottom and buy at the top.
Jobs figures today, so it was bad news... but hang on it's okay... bad news is really good news. Just for the moment. Maybe later bad news will be bad news. But on Monday the bad news that was good news could really be bad news. Or is it good?
I'm effed if I understand any of it. Not that it much matters in the end. Don't ask me, ask an expert! (Then assume the opposite of whatever he says).
Social media is tanking, Twitter was all a twitter with bad results, and Linkedin was horrible.
Looks like they are all losing their power. People are waking up to realise they have wasted so much precious time on Twitter and Facebook. They are addictive and in the main a waste of everyone's time.
Go on - delete all your accounts! Throw your "smart" phone in the river, regain your freedom from oppression!!! I don't need any of these things nor do you!!
Stop looking at these sites and at bulletin boards to decide which stocks to buy. Make your own decisions! Take control of your life and stop being a sheep following idiots! That's enough exclamation points! I have to stop overusing them!
A few possible trade set-ups showed themselves live at Monday's seminar. Though with volatility care is needed in execution and exit.
We discussed Xchanging (XCH) which looks cheap despite recent good rises. It was a problem though deciding whether to get in on a high. We decided a break through 180 would give us a buy signal. It did that and I'm in at 180.8.
A bit tentatively in case it reverses fast but if it can conquer 200 then 220 looks a fairer price. It's kind of stuck at 180 now so I think if it starts a down move, I'm out!
GVC was another that proved of interest on the day. It really looks a lovely one to tuck away in an ISA long-term and forget about it. The company focuses on handing out really big dividends as it is cash rich. Expect lots of cash but there is capital growth to come too I think.
This is the company that bought out the old Sportingbet. Looks like the management is doing a really excellent job with the integration and I like the look of it. Downside? Problems with the nutters running Turkey who might purge gambling. My plan? Tuck away for a couple of years and enjoy the cash coming in plus I bet some decent growth too. (I bet.. did you see that?) Got 1,500 this afternoon at 361.
Hunting (HTG) was a trade set up at the seminar and an easy one - it has bounced so many times off the 735-750 area that it was fairly begging to be bought, cheap on fundamentals too.
I could not allow the begging to go unheeded so bought some on a spreadbet live at 752 (those who came to the seminar we talked about 8am stopouts so I moved the stop out of the way before opening as discussed). It's gone up a touch so next thing is to bung in a trailing stop. Otherwise below 735, it's gone.
I have no idea why KBC went back to under 100, so it was an easy decision to buy some more and got 2,500 at 98. Its statement was absolutely fine. No reason why it shouldn't in time head up to the more fairly valued 125-30 area.
Carclo (CAR) has had a miserable run with delays with its new tech thing. However yesterday its US partner re-iterated some confidence in it, a director bought so it looks oversold and I bought a few at 167.4 for a potential bounce to 200 and maybe back up to 250. Maybe more in time.
And I have been buying more QPP. As those of you who came to the seminar saw from my spreadbet account I am in real life in profit by over £70,000 !
Coms easily reached my target, amazingly it went to 11p but I was at the seminar otherwise I would probably have sold it there!
As it was I exited at 9.5 for a profit of £2,800. As I mentioned when I bought I suspected a cash call was on the way which they pretty much confirmed in a statement. I think it won't be long before I rebuy as it should come good I think. However I think the cash call might be lower than the current price so there should hopefully be a chance to buy back lower maybe next week.
Dia just couldn't crack 760 so I took profits on the recent buy taking profits of £609 selling at 740.7.
So total profits taken are £3,489.
Portfolio Highlights
Not that many reports from my ones this week.
Though Dillistone came up with a nice statement today and has been rewarded with a good rise.
Fusionex continues well and has now more than doubled for me since I bought in October.
OPG Power has been a nice one for me and firms very well today.
Entertainment One is really going well this week, has conquered 300 and has been a wonderful long-termer.
Quindell has been rocketing up, fell a bit on profit taking after a decent statement but brokers are putting out valuations of around 75p so though I have doubled there seems more to go for.
Renew put out a very confident super statement been a lovely hold and a potential doubler soon.
Communisis goes well after being t awarded a new contract from Lloyds Carpetcrap announced another horrible profits warning but the share seems totally disconnected from reality and amazingly remains at 550p despite the fact any other retailer would be at 200.
Scapa announced a new bank deal which went down well.
Telecom Plus has continued to surge and looks happy at around 1800 for now. Given I bought loads at 100 it makes me very happy! It now means I have a massive stake in there worth nearly £700,000. The open positions on the website now total profits of £270,000.
GB Group has doubled with giant profits building. Seeing Machines is going well, and soon I find out if I got any new ones at 5p.
32 Red has had a brilliant time since the start of the year and it is another doubler for me. Kentz continues to shine and I wonder about another bid this year. BTG still looks like a long-term winner.
Regeneris sadly has fallen below 300 but is trying to come back. Air stocks Avation and Hangar 8 have both taken off and continue their climb.
RWS, Avon, CML and Loq, (now called accesso) are the long-term stars and all are shining so far this year. Six times on Accesso, trebled on CML, doubled on Avon and doubled on RWS.
And a big cheer for Vimto maker Nichols, what a share!! It has bubbled up 2 and a half times from my original buy. It reported this year and all looks good.
Also three cheers for Cohort which has gone over 200
Phew. But remember pride comes before a fall and one must always be on the look out for the start of a bear market and at some point no doubt some of these profits will have to be banked.

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on Wednesday afternoons.
