I look forward to meeting some of you online next Friday on September 12th for the online seminar.
Look out for a questionnaire which you should get from me shortly, it's very handy for me to know what you want and I can try and provide it.
I have about 2 slots left so if you fancy spending the day with me online next week, email for details.
I didn't feel there was enough interest in a hotel one for October so that isn't going ahead but I know a lot of you come to the hotel December one every year so advance notice it'll be Dec 8th though won't take bookings till next month.
Well, that's summer nearly over though we look to extend it as we're off to Palma soon for our Investor/Traders' retreat.
It sold out months back and sorry to those of you we had to turn away for this year.
We look forwards to spending three days with some returners and some newbies!
Some people have been three years in a row.
Looking forwards to having some fun in the sun with the big quiz, the workshops, 1-1s, and spending time with always interesting people.
We'll be running one or two retreats again next year so if you want to be on an interested email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "2026 retreats interested".
We'll then put you on a list to contact next year and allocate places on a first come first served basis.
Thanks so much for all the response to my live "radio" show last month and as I got so many nice mails I'm doing another live show this Tuesday September 9th.
You can hear me doing a 15 minute preview of the show here: (press play)
http://fast.citrus3.com:8832/stream
(Your laptop might say this link is now secure, it is.. Promise!)
You may hit a minute of dead air during the preview and when I say testing, testing.. I was.. Er... well.... testing.
That preview repeats 24/7 till the live show.
It's going to run from 10am ish to noon ish, all you have to do is click the link, press play and you're in.
It's not designed to make money (indeed it costs me quite a bit!)
You can take part in the show live (there will be one or two fun comps) or you can contact me now for inclusion in the show.
Your favourite share right now and why, or your one big tip to newbies.
Also still looking for trader songs! I'll be running down the best entries we've had so far.
The number to call will be on the show or you can mail the show at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
During the show I'll be ploughing through live markets and looking at those reporting on the day which should include Gamma, computacentre, Likewise, Lucedo, Flowtech ,Midwich and Accesso.
See you all there from just before 10am on Tuesday!
A reminder if you can't join me live it will be repeated 24/7 shortly afterwards.

People keep asking me which broker to use for their new ISA.
I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.
Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.
Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.
II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.
If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.
Seems like a no brainer here is the link:
If they ask my acc is burnsrobbieburns@aol.com.
I did a podcast with Zeus Capital and Nick Searle who is the most lovely chap.
He even posted a lovely handwritten thank you letter afterwards. Sheer class.
You can hear be blabbing on about how I came to be a trader and suchlike.
https://zeuscapital.co.uk/adp-podcast/ scroll down to find the one with me.
Took the credit card tracker with me to Sri Lanka. Used it twice to locate where the cards were!
Do get some credit card style tags they are wonderful and just over £20!
Link to the ones I bought:
Put one in your passport wallet and one in your credit card wallet or purse.
Thank me when inevitably something gets lost.
Thanks for the comment on my show about songs you heard it on TV.
Some of you have sent me some songs you liked and heard on TV so it looks like I can do a second one.
It's fun to see what unexpected music you heard and enjoyed.
Looks like from emails Remi Wolfe's "Hello Hello Hello" was a favourite along with the Gustav track.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.
Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.
My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.
You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.
No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.
My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.
You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.
If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you some info.
Thanks for the feedback from recent events.
Gary:
" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.
Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.
The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."
Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!
Dave:
"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!
I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."
Phil:
"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!
Naked Rambling
Enjoyed some lovely nights out and saw some superb theatre over the summer.
Nothing like a sunny August London with the bankers away on hols!
What can we say about Angela Rayner?
She's shown her true colours "" do what I say not what I do and all that.
It's not ok for anyone else to own more than one house and dodge stamp duty though it's fine for you.
She has to go and the fact she is "working class" can't save her.
I had to use a cheque for the first time in maybe ten years.
I had to pay for a private medicine thing. Paid but they didn't take Amex.
Tried Barclaycard, that didn't work either and I didn't fancy wasting who knows how long talking to someone and going through the palava of security etc.
Anyone who ever tried to call Barclays or any bank will know the tediousness of it.
(If it's an Ai answering find out by asking "working from home today"?)
Of course I thought just do a bank transfer, quick and easy.
No sign of any bank details on the invoice.
Hang on! It then says payment "accepted by cash or cheque" !!
I didn't fancy going to Andover with a load of cash so amazingly I found an ancient cheque book in an old drawer.
Filled it up, sent it off second class in an actual envelope.
Two things: realised I'd forgotten how to write something by pen!
Hard work! And how do you do a signature?
Secondly I quite enjoyed the stamp and envelope and walking to the post box!
Would it work? Yes! The cheque was cashed.
I have to use them again and I have 5 cheques left.
I can genuinely say if they ask me where the payment is..
"The cheque is in the post."
I love it when I meet someone who loves their job and is good at it.
We had Carlos round to do the windows.
What a guy. Meticulous, does a fabulous job, goes back round if he is not happy with any of it.
He then went out to the garden room and did that, just threw it in. Spent 3 hours. He wants it to be perfect.
Plus he is great fun, and very skilled. Amazing. Good on you Carlos.
Interesting piece from a Times writer, he went to Vietnam where they still mainly use cash.
He found during the holiday he spent less than normal because of it.
I use cash mainly if I can and it is very interesting.
Went to an Indian restaurant and the bill was about £100.
If you tap, it doesn't feel like anything..
Now handing over five £20 notes. That hurts. And just for a curry!!
No wonder there is so much debt, so much is down to cashless.
In the world of football (female readers move on now..) they have to sort out VAR!
My team Fulham got done by a silly decision to rule out a goal.
Problem is the guys in the studio seem to have more power than the ref.
Their aim seems to be to try and chalk off goals.
It is ruining the game, when a goal is scored is it a goal or not?
Time to get rid or relax the rules in favour of goal scoring. It must be something definitely bad if a goal is rescinded.
There is also a problem in that the decisions are all biased to the top 6 teams.
Bad decisions all seem to be against the smaller teams while the big boys are allowed to get away with it.
Hostage ** Netflix
How does Suranne Jones find time to do her washing? She's literally always in something.
What a horrible disappointment this is.
Terrible writing and impossibly silly scenarios, feels like it's been written by a trainee AI bot.
And so cliched! Fabulous left UK government vs Boo Hiss nasty right wing French one.
No character is even remotely convincing. Same old actors and plot holes galore.
Maybe it picks up but one episode was more than enough.
(If you watched ahead and you think it improved let me know).
In Flight **** Ch 4
At last a decent thriller from Ch4.
An air hostess (is it still ok to say that?) gets blackmailed to smuggle drugs to save her son from being killed.
Maintains its tension throughout, there are few dud bits and it is almost believable in a few places.
Plenty of good tips too about how to avoid getting stopped by a customs officer if you've bought one pack of fags too many.
And just like that * Sky
Watched the last ever episode of the Sex and The City follow up which has been axed.
Mind blowing how bad it is. Atrocious writing, silly woke bits, excruciating scenes, just awful.
How can obviously clever writers really come up with such garbage is a mystery.
Atomic **** Sky
The bloke from Game of Thrones stars in this highly entertaining thriller as a drugs trafficker who ends up transporting uranium.
Everyone is after him and it's a fun helter-skelter ride.
Nice settings and quite moreish! I do want to know what happens next.
I Fought the Law ITV ****
The ubiquitous Sheridan Smith stars in this true story of one woman's fight against terrible police decisions.
Awful for the actual woman she portrays, her daughter murdered and not even found under the bath after a forensic team went in.
Entertainment wise the first episode is a touch slow but it picks up.
Sheridan brings across the frustration of a police that seemed to obstruct everything.
The Guest**** BBC 1
Surprisingly decent thriller from the BBC featuring a fabulous kitchen island.
It is a bit bonkers but taking that aside definitely entertaining with twists coming galore.
All the current reality shows All channels *
Please make it stop...
New TV prog you hate or love? 50 word reviews welcome!
Woke cycling chiefs decided the Welsh village "Three Cocks" needed to be censored, calling it "Three *****".
Perhaps the cycling chiefs should be known as ****suckers?
Most women agree though that one cock is quite enough, thank you very much.
New Clarkson
Jeremy Clarkson's very funny take on farming is just out and is already in the top 20 books.
The latest escapades from the Diddly Squat farm.
Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.
The book is very good value around half off the recommended price at just £11 here:

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

OMG! Fiscally, this government is turning out to be the worst ever.
The last one was terrible, we all felt betrayed when Jeremy Hunt cut the amount you can get dividend tax free to next to nothing.
But Reeves and co? It's desperate stuff and it seems like they are about to do massive damage to the economy.
They are floating various tax rise ideas all centred on the few people who have actually got any money left and who buy stuff.
Stop floating potential bad news! The markets hate it and it leads to people withdrawing money, how can they not see this?
Yet again it's been floated the 25pc you can take from your pension tax free might be under attack.
Behind it all seems to be this horrible little brat called Torsten Bell.
This guy has done nothing apart from go from university straight to politics, never run a business and seems determined to level everything down.
He was the one that said the max anyone could hold in an isa should be 100k. He doesn't seem to think anyone should have more in a pension either.
This silly arrogant little twerp will be around for another 4 years and he's pensions minister! Oh and he's advising Rachel Reeves on the next budget.
Literally all his life has been spent trying to invent new taxes and now he has power.
And.. Guess who is going to be the next Chancellor?
What's even worse is floating mansion tax/council tax/property taxes/landlord tax rises.
The removal of CGT exemption from more valuable properties on sale would be a disaster.
Let's hope they are floating crap ideas so that the final idea won't be as bad as we thought.
The real problem is with no Budget till end of November, companies left in the dark are delaying spending decisions.
There isn't anyone I talk to who doesn't think the current government trajectory isn't heading us into major financial problems.
Summed up by the boss of Asda: "Will you stop taxing everything in some way, shape or form".
Everything it comes up with will limit growth and enterprise.
As usual a tricky August with bad liquidity and crazy movements on some shares.
It's often better to just leave August alone. I sold some things early on with the idea to buy some back this month.
In the main with things being so volatile it's often best just not to look at your portfolio in August!
Now the bankers are back from their 5 star swanky-wanky hotels let's see where it all goes.
I've been doing a little buying in shares that look cheap.
Read all about it: Bloomsbury shares have had a rough ride recently "" but the shares have come down so much they are just too tempting and I've bought in.
One of the reasons for the fall is it's come out of the FTSE 250 causing forced fund sales which gives the chance for what looks like a good price.
Last year there wasn't any comment from the company till near the end of October.
It told us profits will be around £41m in its AGM statement, possible upside from Pocket Potters series from JK Rowling.
Shares have de-rated massively leaving them looking cheap and they seem a decent buying idea.
Possible problem may be AI challenging its academic titles.
I mentioned SDI in the live radio show in August as my "share of the day".
You may remember I sold it at a profit with the intention it would go down on the day of the report then I'd buy back.
Which is exactly what happened, and I bought them on weakness shortly after its statement.
While not without risks this buy and build group mainly around scientific areas seems to be well run with a keen eye for add ons.
It's continued to grow revenue and profits with a low net debt of £13m despite spending £7m on acquisitions.
It boasts of a strong forward order book for 2026 and I expect to hold here and maybe top up if the share price begins to rise again.
It has gone up a lot and is pausing but you'll often find these types of shares suddenly resume momentum when you least expect it.
Ai autonomous finance looks a big growth area and one company I think will benefit is Aptitude Software.
The headline figures of Aptitude's most recent report weren't fantastic, but I am more interested in the future potential here and its nice net cash of £17m.
It has a lot of high value long-term contracts and it is winning quite a few new ones too.
I wonder if these contracts could lead to a bigger rival bidding?
It's using some of its cash to regularly buy its own shares which should keep the share price at least around current levels.
Shares have been a lot higher and I'm thinking of holding Aptitude longer-term unless there's a question mark or a profit warning.
I found this one on my dash for cash screen on Sharescope which continues to find me some nice winners.
(To access this free for 2 weeks anyway before you'd have to pay go to this link where there is a discount too:
https://sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader
Ish Auto and Robot ETF is doing very well for me and I've bought more (code is RBOT).
This concentrates on companies in the robotics area which I think is a massive growth area over the next few years.
Companies are looking at combining robotic and AI technology and holding RBOT for the long term could possible really pay off.
I suspect with potential so great the upside could be enormous.
I've topped up in Journeo.
This little gem keeps coming up with new contract wins and this week picked up another nice one.
Probably one simply to stick with for a while and ignore fluctuations.
Looking forward Journeo could break out nicely and I hold nearly £100k personally.
I suspect at some point before the end of the year there'll be some kind of market meltdown.
Why? I've got a hunch at some point soon the chip/AI revolution will be seen as no longer high growth.
And with the Budget so far away and spending delayed we could see some warnings.
There is just so much potential to spark off a sell off. China invading Taiwan might not be too far away.
So I am going to start building some shorts.
I'm going to use spreadbets and also some ETF's in the isas but I feel I should be wary to discuss here on the website as it is dangerous and don't want to lead anyone up the garden path.
I'll discuss today to those of you on the sub email list who are generally more experienced.
Access to my sub email is just a once only payment (no yearly sub) and is mainly to cover its costs.
For info mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "sub email interested". I cover higher risk shares, and US shares and you get the website updates a little early straight to your inbox.
If you have some knowledge of shorting I find the smaller sb companies best, easier to contact and often much tighter spreads.
Big warning: before you spreadbet please read my spreadbetting book which takes you through the many potential pitfalls.
Link here: https://amzn.to/3V02two
Tightest index spreads here: https://tradenation.com/en-gb/naked-trader/
Knowing August is often tricky I banked some losses and profits to raise cash for September.
Losses first:
STV put out a profit warning leading to losses of £391 and £181. Gam loss £298.
Profits: Kier went for a profit of £515, Elm profit 803, MTO profit £228, Koo
Profit £628, Mgns profit £5,028. Zig : profit £603, otb profit £460.
Adding profits and minusing losses leads to a gain for the site of £7,385.
Main reasons were to go into a bit of cash and they'd all had very good run ups.
And some have fallen a bit and some of the above are slowly getting into buy back territory.
Elsewhere so far I've kept the Alpha International has been bid for at a 25pc premium just for the unlikely event of a new bidder.
For the website holdings it is actually a profit of a very nice £21,090, the biggest profits for a website position this year so far.
Some very large dividends landed the last couple weeks including a very tasty one from Telecom Plus, a decent chunk from MSI and some bits and pieces from Synetics and Games workshop, all adding quite a few grand.
Telecom Plus has paid me more than £500,000 in 20 years just in dividends!
A lot of companies are due to report this month so it's going to be interesting.
As I'm off to Spain for the investors' retreat and then spending a few days after on holiday I can't manage the next update so the next update will be Oct 2nd.
We'll be running one or two retreats again next year so if you want to be on an interested email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "2026 retreats interested". We'll then put you on a list to contact next year and allocate places on a first come first served basis.

Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:
"Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.
But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.
I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.
Boy, what a gripper!
Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.
The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!
Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.
And they are all certain of their own brilliance...
Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..
Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

I've enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Money".
It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.
if you want to better with how you invest, trade or spend money it's a very worthwhile read!

Spreadbetting
Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.
Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.
Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".
It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.
It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.
The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".
The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.
If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
