I'm taking a half-term for the site and my OMG I can't be this old now birthday break from the site, be back again with the next update on November 6th.
Yes, I am in for a very hectic half term two weeks. That's mainly because Mrs NT is off to New York for a few days for the wedding of a relative and also to visit her sister.
So... I am turning from trader for a while to some real work, yes indeed, looking after my energetic to say the least 8-year-old and looking after the household/work.
I have a notion M and S might have a good week as a certain someone raids the ready meal department....
I don't know what we're going to get up to yet.
Mrs NT reckons she will return to a house in a state with beer cans and empty pizza boxes and crisp packets everywhere. Not to mention ball stains on the walls. And what the hell is that by the toilet?
How unfair! Anyway I have a cunning plan to pay the cleaner double to sort things out on the morning before Mrs NT returns. Maybe I can persuade do the cooking too for treble? Wonder if she's any good at trading?
Anyway I am sure me and the lad will find stuff to do, though anything has to be better than London Zoo.
Christopher has an injury to his ankle and so had the weekend off football so we went there on Saturday.
But.. where are the animals? We were there four hours and I can hardly remember seeing any. There is a massive "Tiger zone". I managed in the distance to see a bored few stripes. One very bored lion.
In fact the only things moving in the place were penguins and monkeys.
The butterfly hut was good though. The aquarium very average. Even the crocodiles looked bored.
The food is horrible and overpriced. A tenner for some dried up old pasta with some tinned tomatoes on it.
I feel bad slagging it off as I know the staff work hard on low wages. And I am sure they are dedicated to the animals and I bet the Zoo does some great work with them. But... well it is just disappointing as most London attractions except for the London Eye which is great.
Onto better things and we had a great night out at the opening night of The Commitments at one of the West End theatres owned by my sister - this one being the Palace.
It's a great show, more concert in the end than show with a brilliant lead singer and lots of good old fashioned Irish swearing.
It's quite similar to the movie except there is more music and less story here.
If you want a fun night out and especially if you like soul music you're in for a treat!
The Sunday Times gave it an amazing five star review.
Sister invited us to the celeb hangout The Ivy club for a party afterwards.
She is so well known there no need to show a membership card but I guess she is a rather well known theatre mogul now!
Enjoyed chatting to some very interesting people including some of the show investors.
I'm only guessing but if you added up the wealth of the 4 or 5 people sitting around me it would come to well over £200m.
One chap in particular who owns a top flight rugby club and a league 2 football club was very charming and invited me and Christopher to a day out at his club.
Had a very interesting conversation with someone high up at a big insurer. She tells me October is their biggest worry as it's hurricane season but looks okay so far.
Some very interesting stories about how it all works and it was fascinating to learn the kinds of things these rich people back and the kind of things they don't.
These people work incredibly hard and employ many yet this country seems to have it in for them and people main with jealousy about people with wealth.
Okay for them sitting on their lazy bums watching EastEnders while these people are still working hard making things happen.
Really looking forwards to the next opening night which is going to be a play called "The Duck House" on at my sister's theatre the Vaudeville next month.
Apparently it's a brilliant piss-take of politicians and their hangers on - the lies, deceits, treachery and greed and all that which goes on in the world of Westminster. A must see, can't wait!
Also recommended coming up the classic "12 Angry men" at the Garrick.
A big thanks to all of you who commented on the high cholesterol thing. I've listened to all arguments and for now I'm doing better diet rather than take any drugs. This seems sensible and trying hard!
I've asked for a luxury bath robe for my birthday. Then when coming out of the bath I can pretend I'm in a luxury hotel.
I look forwards to meeting those of you coming to the seminar on Friday. (18th)
Good news is the chef has promised to make us waffles with chocolate sauce fresh and live during the first break.... can't wait to eat th... I mean meet you all!
I really enjoy these days and meeting readers. Every one ends up being a bit different as it all depends on who is there and sometimes there are some very different roads we end up in.
Often seminars are also great for my trading as inevitably in all that time some shares come up that I might not otherwise have spotted and researched.
In the years I've been doing them I remember some fantastic ones popping on screens, the best one was the seminar where Mulberry kept appearing at 250... I remember buying the following Monday and although I sold out too early at 950 it was a tremendous profit. And another really good one was GB Group at 25p at the seminar and pushes 130 now.
So selfishly hoping to discover something new myself! Those of you coming doors open 9.30am... follow the signs to Naked Trader..
Please remember I am paying for your parking but you MUST give your reg number in to reception or else you will get a parking ticket!
Please come and register from 9.30am and then find a seat - coffees will be there waiting for you and there is coffee and tea on tap all day. The chef promises me there will be great snacks and lunch! It better be good or there will be trouble..
Grab a coffee and some choc and just relax, I promise to be gentle with you all. I hope you all enjoy the day, as it's live from the markets who knows what will come up. And as you know I talk plain English with none of that idiotic jargon. See you there!
If you missed this one, the next seminar is on Monday December 2nd at Heathrow.
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "December seminar interested" in the subject line. There is a very decent early bird discount on offer right now.
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!

I use IG Index for betting on the very small companies, the only spreadbet firm I can find that does the smaller ones making it possible to trade AIM cos tax free.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on Dec 2
Price is £590 plus vat. (Early bird discount is on offer however)
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Dec seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

New research show shows one in three get so fed up with them they dump their shopping and leave the supermarket without it.
Also more than 80% needed help with them and most think it takes longer to do it yourself.
The best news is the net effect of all this is that they drive away customers!
That is great news because if that feeds through to the bottom line the rise of the machines will be stopped.
Everyone must stop using these machines. I notice it's the 21s and under that use them the most and that's a worry. Many are now so used to communicating with machines only they're losing the ability to communicate with real people and find real friends.
I noticed yesterday that even though there was a free cashier, a youngster preferred to use the self-service till. Yikes.
Ed Milliband's scriptwriter sank to new lows on PMQ's today.
Here is the hilarious line: "he has gone from hug a huskie to gas a badger..."
I mean, come on, would you really read that out if someone had written that dire line for you? And anyway wasn't it hug a hoodie?
Homeland was a bit slow this week, I'm finding the teenage love thing a bit tedious.
Fairly obvious the kids are going to turn Muslim on us. And that the kid going to get pregnant. Ha, in your face Mum!
We want Brody! We want Brody! Where is he? He'd better be in the next episode or there will be trouble.
I hear of a violent scene in Downton. Goodness I thought nothing was happening there- I must take another look!
Talking violence working my way through Breaking Bad and just hit series three.
It's very addictive and if you haven't seen it yet go and bag the boxset and prepare for a treat.
Strictly is hilarious, there's 2 hours of it and only about 20 mins of dancing and judging and the rest fluff.
So we just record it, flash through all the fluff just see what Craig says and it's all over in 20 mins! That is a lot of time saved. And no tedious Bruce to put up with (though I do admire him).
Felt a bit sorry for Vanessa. A really hard-working woman who gave it a good go.
And also it just seems there is a massive gap between the good and the bad. And you have the nagging feeling the good have done some dancing before...
Time to dispense with all the judges except for Craig - right?

"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!
Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..
Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.
I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!
This compares to £473 direct from advfn inc vat so this deal saves you over a whopping £120! ADVFN level 2 also includes all the live trades made through Plus Markets which I find invaluable.

More on level 2 in my book and I spend hours on it at my seminars. So if you get level 2 and want to learn how to use it properly live, book my seminar!
ADVFN Bronze Offer
To take up the offer, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with Bronze in the subject line and I will tell you how to claim the deal.

Markets
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
Markets remain as crazy and dysfunctional as ever.
I'm sure like many of you I got my tiny share of the Royal Mail Float, the allocation of £750 worth of shares.
Hey we can't complain. After all it was a near instant 50% profit. I haven't sold mine yet. But I guess I probably will. After all in the end it's just a steady pretty boring business and I think at anything over a fiver a share it has to be a sell.
I'm much more interested in a new issue that came out about the same time as the Royal Mail one but not one that anyone is interested in except me.
But they should be or so I think.
And that's new issue Arrow Global (ARW)
I bought some at 221.3 around the same price as it is as I write this piece.
It's a debt collector and for the forseeable future you would reckon its services are going to be in some demand.
I like it, it seems to be growing fast. A 55% rise in revenues for the 6 months to June 30th bode very well indeed and if it can push on the current valuation has some decent upside to it I think.
I'd be surprised if there wasn't 25% upside from here in the next 6 months, maybe more.
Of course Royal Mail provided a lot more instant upside than that but at least I can buy as much Arrow as I like!
An interesting one is Dillistone (DSG) . Upside: It's growing by buying other companies, raising its dividends and has no debt. It's in the recruitment software market but not affected by its up and down cycle. It pays a dividend of around 4%.
Downside: It's AIM and quite small still, so have to be careful with liquidity, in other words not buying too many so easy to get out if it goes wrong. And a director sold 20,000 shares recently, though he does still hold nearly a million!
But with profits growing the market cap for DSG looks too small and I think there is a potential 50% upside with some patience.
So now I can hold AIM shares in my Isa, I have tucked these away, forget about them and hope the growth comes into play. If it does, some nice upside. I got 3,000 yesterday at 99.9.
Got a £30 spreadbet on too, hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does: http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They're also offering a mini Ipad or something - read through conditions and all that as I would guess you'd have to make a trade or two to get it.
Unusually I made a fair few quid on a daytrade! SDL issued a profits warning so I went in for a bounce and got nearly a grand profit as it bounced back up. I took the profit and ran for it!
After taking nearly £45,000 of long term profits over the last few weeks I have slowed down on the profit taking now!
I sold a little Al Noor at 822 - It is a long-term trade but I just cut a little off the top to bank a bit of the excellent profit so far, for web purposes for a profit is £2,370.
I cut the Blinkx short at 147 for a profit of £240. Level 2 showed buyers building up. However if it continues to bash up against 155-156 without going through I'll probably try the trade again.
The Halfords short went at 372 for a profit of £370. And Mothercare went down nicely and moved into a good profit so I moved the stop to breakeven. However it went back up and so no profit made in the end.
All that leads to a profit banked for the site this week of £2,980.
ELSEWHERE
A nice rise for my last trade Accumuli, about a 25% profit so far but happy to hold onto this trade for a lot longer as I think there is further upside to come in time.
Fusionex does its thing of getting to a price and then staying there for a while, fine by me, in nice profit and hoping for an eventual uplift - when it moves it can suddenly move a lot higher quickly out of nowhere.
After the strong statement from Telecom Plus- a sigificant uplift in customers and a rosy future remains - it has moved up to near all time highs.
I still have well over £400 grands worth - most of which is profit. I think the meantime the shares should gradually rise over the years an the dividend keeps on going up providing a very decent income for me.
32 Red has had a brilliant week - up a good ten per cent and it looks like my original buy is going to be a doubler.
Kentz has been rising again. Perhaps the fact the big didn't go through is good news as in time a new bidder might have to pay an awful lot more.
Renew and Parity have both had good weeks rising strongly and Regeneris hs been showing some good gains too.
Porvair has shown signs of life and has boomed up from 230 ish to 260ish this week.
Riskier oil buy Caracal looks like it wants to get up and over 500p but it's not sure but still a nice rise for now.
Conviviality and Cohort appear a bit stuck and might need time to get an rerating. Conviviality is showing some signs of heading higher though.
The future continues to looks very bright for Vectura (VEC) which last week reported approval for another of its drugs. Looks like it might not be long now till I doubled up on the first buy. Massive profits now.
Entertainment One has had a nice run higher this week as has Communisis which got tipped somewhere apparently.
Long-termer Filtronic recently reported everything is on track. It doesn't move much as the market is waiting to see how 4G goes. But happy as doubled and quadrupled on it so far.
Hellerman Tyton remains stable - The first lot bought when it listed around 195 are doing nicely so far as it pushes 250 Keep thinking about taking profits in Hellerman but it keeps pushing up.
GB continues to push up and this one has more or less become a doubler for me. Some nice rises this last few days.
I'm happy I've spent the last month banking some major profits in some of the longer-term ones, it seems sensible.
I've been testing out a new spreadbet firm over the last year. I just won't recommend anything unless I have really tested it over a long time and now happy to endorse it especially for any bets on indicies as the spread is only 0.8 on stuff like the FTSE.
Also they don't seem to do any messing about in stopping winning trades from being executed which has been known with a few of the firms which I totally refuse to endorse.
Execution of trades have been spot on as has account management and a robust system too. I really can't find fault with it.

If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.ig.com/nakedtradercfds
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
