We paid up for a fireworks display at the local cricket club on Saturday. We turned up to be told..erm.. it's a bit windy.. so it's called off. We'll have it next week instead.

Health and safety and all that. Despite the fact there were fireworks going off everywhere else... and what happens if it's windy on Saturday again?

Anyway I say boo sucks to health and safety and let off loads of fireworks in the back garden instead. No problem with the wind and great fun!

I reckon it's probably worth spending money on 5 or 6 really big ones rather than boxes of small ones!

Thank goodness half term is over and the Mrs is back from New York. I don't like being in charge of the house, there is just too much to do.

Bins, dishwashers, washing. After five days of being house boss the place looked like it had been burgled. I'm fired.

But thanks to a hefty amount given to the cleaner she just about got the place shiny and new just as the Mrs got back.

I thought I'd got away with it but then I got a bollocking, there were some dark patches on the wooden floor in the kitchen.

Then I remembered I'd knocked over some dishwasher liquid and had been too lazy to clean it up till later.

"I cleaned it up rightaway, " I lied. "Goodness knows what they must put in that stuff!"

Anyway I've been warned someone's coming to "have a look at it" which is code for, you're really going to have to get the wallet out over this one...

Of course being a bloke a dark spot on wood doesn't really ruin my day, however for the fairer sex it is a different matter...

It's good to have the head of the house back and I have happily been relieved of my household duties and can now return to my very busy schedule of watching the fifth series of Breaking B... I mean.. to my very heavy trading schedule....

Halloween, can't stand it and a terrible import from the states.

Let's knock on people's doors and demand sugar with menaces. Us parents struggle already with a losing battle to try and keep the deadly drug of sugar away as much as we can. This really doesn't help..

Anyway, Christopher went out with a couple of friends and mum, I couldn't go because "markets are really busy at the moment and I had loads to do".

Of course what this meant was: I'd much rather sneakily watch the Breaking Bad season four finale with a bag of popcorn then go round banging on people's doors demanding sugar for my child...

Anyhow I got away with it!

That evening the three of us went to a local pasta joint and I foolishly ordered the baked sea bass and "risotto".

It came suspiciously quickly and of course I could have guessed the fish would be nuked and the "risotto" would be inedible.

I had to be straight and told them it was the most horrible food I had ever been offered and they ought to take it off the menu and just do pizza and pasta.

Christopher said I was being horrible but I said they were asking me for 16 quid for it and it wasn't worth even a quid. You have to stand up for yourself.

An elderly couple next to us then whispered their pasta and sauce was tasteless. I told them to complain and they did, which I think then started a complaints mexican wave.

They were pretty glad when I'd left. I bet the manager turned to the staff and went "I hope that old bald bastard never comes back.."

The place will be shut within six months. It is nearly always empty and know we know why. We'd like to support local restaurants but honestly, if they bash out horrible food, what do they expect?

Two sporting events coming up....we're off to the 02 on Friday for the ATP tennis and then in a couple of weeks going to the racing at Ascot.

Those of you who love animals like me might want to consider a little donation to here http://www.amate-animalia.co.uk/ - I donated some money.

It rescues mammals and others and also goes round schools education - a worthy cause, even a fiver helps.

It was great to meet some of you at the seminar a couple of weeks ago. l really enjoyed it and thanks so much for the lovely feedback I got since.

Thanks very much for one or two lovely gifts given to me on the day, very kind and the advice on my cholesterol levels!

It's good to know some of you really "got" why level 2 is so important and it was a good feeling for me to see some "Lightbulbs" go off during the day.

Thanks for the very interesting disaster stories, so useful for beginners to hear and some very thoughtful questions.

Also I think a few good trades showed themselves during the day which was an added bon us.
If you missed this one, the next seminar is on Monday December 2nd at Heathrow.

Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "December seminar interested" in the subject line. There is a very decent early bird discount on offer right now.

Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch!

My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.

A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News

**** BOOKING OPEN FOR DECEMBER 2ND*****
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on Dec 2

Price is £590 plus vat. (Early bird discount is on offer however)
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Dec seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling

Wow thanks Alan Sugar!

Lord Sir A has done a deal with Tesco. His system will scan you to decide what kind of advert is going to be blasted at you when you fill up with petrol.

Our thanks to the Lord for obviously making the world a better place... the system will scan you for age and gender.

Hmmm, I wonder which age group will be targeted with which ad and what new Lord Sir A products might be advertised to you.

20s : Am App: Some crap phone app you pay £2 for and only use once

30s Am Dum Dum: Lord A's new baby dummy emergency replacement service - can't find that precious dummy? Call us!

40s Am affair : Need help with that midlife crisis?

50s Am Sack You've been Fired and will never work again info pack

60s Am Latte: All you'll be able to buy with your pension payout

70s Am Lift: A nice sparking Stairlift for your home with free wi fi

80s Am Nearly Dead: A discount for a designer coffin (no wi fi included)

90s An Amstrad e-mailer. Only way to get rid of the rest of the stock to people who can't say no.

Is there a chance the BBC would consider making a drama without making David Tennant compulsory in it?

Yet again he's the star of another one this time playing a lawyer. He's a fine actor but you keep thinking, oh it's David Tennant.

Kind of puts you off....

And it's confusing, is he playing that character who had the affair with the nanny or is this someone different?

We saw the kind side of Deborah Meaden in Strictly - it does seem a shame that she went early, she loved it, she cried...

Right back to listening to mad business pitches, Debs.

It's quite fun the public keep the bad ones in and get the good ones voted out.

Of course the women want Peter Crouch's wife out.

Why? They're dead jealous of her!

Breaking Bad.. I'll be glad when I've finished it! Into series 5 and it's the most addictive show ever. It's hard just not to spend the whole day watching it.

Once done will watch the whole thing over again with the Mrs who hasn't seen it yet. Great stuff.

Homeland continues to be a bit, well, not as good as it was with the Carrie/Saul plotline a little far-fetched.

Still, sticking with it for now and there are signs this time of a bit more drama.

Naked Mail

Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.

The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.

I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!

Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!

Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !

Thanks Gabriel!

Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.

I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance

Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..

Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.

Markets

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.

Markets remain very solid indeed and reaching highs again. Indeed my portfolios sit at all time highs (bar all the money I took out to buy and renovate a house).

Which leads to many predicting a massive crash. Well they may be right, they may be wrong, I'm not guessing and running with the continued uptrend.

It's always best to go with the trend and only start selling once obvious it has changed.

Also we're not far off getting into December and pre-Xmas is usually good. So on the whole I'm hanging onto most things.

With the portfolio gushing higher and also as I've been on half-term household duty I've been in no rush to buy much new.

And indeed it is becoming harder to find value shares. However two came up at the last seminar.

One that came up at the seminar and appears to have value is Avation (AVAP) and I bought 5,000 at 106 then they went up quite a bit to 120 but they went down 10p this morning so took advantage of that weird drop using the two timing techniques I taught some of you at the seminar and I bought another 3,000 at 108.75 today.

It leases planes - the last set of results were pretty impressive and I think these shares are set for take off.

It now has 23 planes in its fleet, revenues are going up, as are dividends.

The shares are gradually going up and still look good value. At the moment my thoughts are to keep them for a while perhaps targetting around 175p.

Another which looks value is Avintrans (AVG) and I got 3,000 at 153p. And I bought more a little higher too.

Okay so it looks like a boring components maker.. but profits before tax nearly doubled last time and it boasts a record order book.

It's just won a decent £55m ten year deal with Rolls Royce and it's been winning other contracts too.

It's picking up a fair head of steam and not valued at much - I think with more contract wins it could be a potential doubler in time.

A very nice tuckaway for the Isa for me.

I think both Avation and Avintrans could be big winners with some patience.

If you missed the last seminar next is Dec 2nd, mail me for details.

I've put in to buy some of new issue Merlin Entertainments via Barclays. I think the offer closes tomorrow so if you want some you need to be quick.

I don't know if it will be scaled back but I put in for 10 grands worth.

It operates all those vile theme parks that us poor parents get dragged to visit. Full of families eating well over-priced crap. But that is good news for us canny investors!

They operate parks like Legoland , Chessington Sea life and the Eye. All horrible apart from the Eye.

They've had a good year with revenues up over 11% and plan to build more tedious parks all over the world so that more parents can spend a fortune entertaining their spoiled children. And eat their way through wads of revolting fast food junk. Still, good profit margins for us though!

Watch out though - the shares could be a roller coaster ride....

Depends on the pricing as to how long I hold them. I'll wait and see.

I suspect there is great interest now in IPOs after the Royal Mail and plenty have money to burn. So I should think they will do well.

I've made a lot of money on the people that supply the jump a queue system (LOQ) - bought those at a quid and now over 600, been a lovely long-term hold.

Another IPO which might go well at least initially is Twitter. You can already bet on it with IG so I had a little upbet. However given it doesn't make much and will probably be valued at a trillion quid I doubt this is one I'll hold onto for long.

I've topsliced a few of Hellerman - goodness me what an amazing trade that has been in a short space of time.

Originally bought under 200 the shares have soared well over 300. I've only taken a small bit off the top averaging about 315 so for website purposes just closing one of the three positions for a profit of £2,100.

Possibly has further to go so holding onto the rest, I just had rather a lot!

Elsewhere

The portfolio has soared again - just when I think maybe it's time to take some profits they go up some more.

Some of the recent buys have been going well. Arrow Global (ARW) is pushing 250 already which is nice.

And what can I say about Royal Mail? I intended to sell mine once they hit over a fiver but they just keep going up!

A nice rise too for recent trades Accumuli and Dillistone... hopefully more upside in both of those.

Telecom Plus - wow, over 15 quid now! I thought I had over £400 grands worth but at nearly 16 I have nearer £600 grands worth now! Sadly most of it is the only thing I have outside the isa so I would have to pay tax on any sales.

But I think the the shares should gradually rise over the years an the dividend keeps on going up providing a very decent income for me. So the plan is to sell a few every year to use up the CGT allowance of 11 grand ish. And of course I can use the allowance of the Mrs too.

32 Red has had a brilliant time - up another good ten per cent and it looks like my original buy is going to be a doubler.

Kentz has been rising again. Perhaps the fact the big didn't go through is good news as in time a new bidder might have to pay an awful lot more.

Renew and Parity have both had good weeks rising strongly and Regeneris has been showing some good gains too.

Cohort has had a great couple of weeks an zoomed up over 2 quid.
The future continues to looks very bright for Vectura (VEC) which recently reported approval for another of its drugs. Looks like it might not be long now till I doubled up on the first buy. Massive profits now though struggles to get through 110.

Entertainment One has had a nice run higher .
GB continues to push up and this one has more or less become a doubler for me. Some nice rises this last few days.

I've been testing out a new spreadbet firm over the last year. I just won't recommend anything unless I have really tested it over a long time and now happy to endorse it especially for any bets on indicies as the spread is only 0.8 on stuff like the FTSE.
Also they don't seem to do any messing about in stopping winning trades from being executed which has been known with a few of the firms which I totally refuse to endorse.
Execution of trades have been spot on as has account management and a robust system too. I really can't find fault with it.
To sign up go to http://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.ig.com/nakedtradercfds

Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

http://www.ig.com/nakedtrader
As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Capital Spreads offer

Capital Spreads offers a really excellent book on spreadbetting for those who open accounts through the link below. Spreads are very tight and every trade has to have a stop loss which is excellent discipline to have especially for beginners. Execution is really good I find and they also allow shorts on shares it is hard to get shorts on like say Carpetright or facebook.
To get the offer, click here:
http://www.capitalspreads.com/ntrader

E-mail subscription service

If you want to get the contents of The Naked Trader website into your mailbox instead of waiting for the update to come through, plus exclusively news on the progress of my SIPP from the old Sunday Times column inc new higher risk Aim buys made for that, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with SIPP in the subject line for details of how to get it.

Telecom Plus Offer

Want to quit the rat race? Try and start a new source of income so one day you can tell the boss to stuff it? You could do what I did to escape my grotty office job and become an independent distributor for the Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on Wednesday afternoons.
