Well, after all the worries about strikes and problems at airports our travel to
and from Palma went without any hitches at all, and we extended our stay
for another week.

We just got back in time for the online seminar which was great fun and we picked
up I think a lot of decent shares, very happy with it.

We thought we were were in for a bad time getting there and back.

Looking at the doom and gloom pictures of airports in the press we feared the
worse, but no!

Security lanes? No queues and no bother!

Flights left on time, Gatwick was fine and seemed just like normal.

Maybe we were lucky but it was the same story with friends going on holiday too, no
problems to report.

But I guess good news stories don't sell papers or get those all important clicks, so our
tale of easy travel would never be told.

We even went to Spain on the same day as an Easyjet cabin strike.

But no problem and Easyjet were great both ways AND I won at scrabble both
going and returning with my favourite play "F*ckface" coming up twice.

We were meant to go for ten days but we were all having such a good time, we thought
sod it and extended the stay for an extra week.

Lovely days at the villa we'd rented, some great meals out and some amazing ice cream
parlours.

We also scouted out some side by side villas to rent for our naked trader
retreat in mid September.

Prices have definitely gone up a fair bit in Spain though you can get decent
wine at a much better price than the UK.

Biggest price shock was at a restaurant near home.

We used to pay £130 for two (it has a Michelin star) but now it's
near £200.

Both this expensive restaurant and the local deli tell the same story: getting
staff is impossible.

On a busy Sunday last week the deli owner could only get one staff to help out.

He used to do evening meals but he's had to stop.

The manager of the pricey one says the staff left are run off their feet.

The gist of it since Brexit and all the foreign staff left British youngsters just
aren't interested.

The owner of the deli ruefully tells me: " They just want to be on Love Island and
reality TV and don't want to work."

Congrats to my sister Nica for opening the first new theatre in the West End for decades.

She has won plaudits from women for providing lots of women's loos.

She's been working on the new place for year, it's called @sohoplace.

Every seat is premium with the same views and loads of legroom!

It's got lots of great publicity and good to see her face plastered all over page 3
of The Times!

I hope she's going to invite us to the first performances there in September and
I'll report back.
Good to see some of you online on Wednesday and thanks for the lovely feedback like this from Chris:

What a great day! Thanks so much for the effort and time you both put in.

I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long.

Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

Too many best bits to mention, but I was impressed that you had read all the questionnaires and had something to say about each one.

Also, I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener.

Thanks Chris, we so enjoyed it.

if you fancy spending a day with me and live markets and a bit of fun too, mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "September 23rd interested."
Thanks a lot for recent online seminar feedback!
.. Such as this from Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."

Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!

Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.

"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."

Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.

Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.

"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.

Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:

"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.

I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.

I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....

.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"

Naked Rambling

Comedians across the land are in mourning.

The gift that kept on giving - BJ - is on his way out.

The misery of it! The easy comic's life under BJ will be gone.

Now they are going to toil and have to make jokes about boring
Starmer and tedious Truss.

Good luck with that folks.

I was thinking if I was standing for PM the kind of things I'd
like to stand for.

So here are a few of my ideas. Vote Burns!

Anyone staring at a phone walking at you without
looking where they're going and expecting you to get out
of the way has to attend a "phone awareness course"
teaching them good manners.

Immediate change back to 30mph from 20mph on all
roads which should never have been changed.

It's impossible to go 20 on a major road. It just is.

Banning of stupid slogans eg "See it say it sorted". Eff off!

Cash must be accepted, it's legal tender. Any company
refusing cash gets a fine, which must be paid in cash.

Police to attend burglaries rather than trying to catch people
doing 22mph on the new 20mph roads.

Removal of all obviously nannying safety signs (drink water
if it's hot today). And remove all silly street signs.

Ban all self service tills and properly staff tills like in
Spain - we should talk to each other and not do someone
else's work which puts them out of a job.

Stop any attempt and disallow any chips being inserted into
anyone's finger "to make life easier".

Ban tipping. Put your prices up instead and pay the staff properly.

Ban on journalists making up stories based on one person who put
up a view on Twitter.

Comedians can say whatever they want, if you don't like it, don't watch.

Go to a flat tax. Get rid of all idiotic tax rules that no-one understands.
Burn all the tax rules, it's bonkers.

The next James Bond must be bald. Film and TV baddies must not
be bald.

Twitter accounts must have the person's name. Stop allowing people
to spit out bile anonymously.

Fixed penalty fines of £40 for anyone that says "I ain't gonna lie" before
every sentence where they obviously are about to lie.

All Forex, day trading and TA courses to be banned.

Anyone buying Bitcoin should go on a "total mug rehabilitation" course.

Anyone buying illquid smallcap shares and hold on to them while they
tank 50pc plus have to go on a "Stubborn old git rehabilitation" course.

And to seal the deal, a free Twix for everyone on their birthday!

What's your manifesto? Let me know for my next podcast.

A prize for the best. If you'd like to send a voicefile please do, any
format is fine.

TV is awful right now, apart from the Mrs forcing me to watch Love Island
("I ain't gonna lie") it's grim.

Of course they always save the dramas that didn't cut it for summer and they are
usually dire except for:

Better Call Saul (*****) Netflix
Simply sensational storytelling with the last episode possibly the best ever?

The theme was, everyone was really alone.

Gus Fring realises he can't have a normal life, all he wants is revenge.

Same for Jimmy as Kim leaves. And for Mike, he realises his gangster lifestyle
can't be justified.

A big time jump at the end leading us close to the beginning of Breaking Bad. Expect
to see Walter White soon!

The Undeclared War (****) Ch 4
Enjoyable and slightly silly cyber thriller in which you have to swallow the young
work tryout sussed code no-one else could.

Otherwise it's a decent yarn with nice performances, and I definitely want to
know what happens next.

Baby (**) Sky Atlantic
A promising start to this comedy slash horror but after a while it doesn't
seem to quite work.

The comedy ends up not being funny and the horror not really that horrific. Nice
idea though. But given up after 2 episodes.

Call centre workers are going on strike. How will we ever know, they never answer
the phones as it is!

(But of course your call is very important to them).

And how come traffic wardens never go on strike?

A chess AI robot got annoyed when playing with a 7-year-old in Russia and decided
to grab his finger and break it.

So watch out for AI robots coming soon. I know some fridges are
already connected to the internet.

"Sorry you ate too much sh1t this week, so I refuse to open my door till
you stop eating Greggs sausage rolls."

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

*Next update after holidays on September 8th*

Some improvements in the markets the last couple of weeks,
it seems that some who cashed out are cautiously putting money
back in at much better prices.

I reckon it's not a bad time to be a beginner if you go cautiously
and not put too much in.

But I would still steer clear of anything to do with pubs, restaurants,
drinks, hospitality and retail.

As mentioned above, getting staff is impossible at the mo and so
it's still badly affecting these sectors with many having to close outlets
early or for days.

A lot of interesting share trade ideas came up at the online seminar,
some perhaps worthy of a trade now, and some trades to be.

I haven't got the energy to go through them all but here are some
that were discussed.

It was a no brainer to top up with more shares in Me Group International (the name
has just changed from Photo-Me) Code now MEGP.

A stunning report leaves the shares looking mighty cheap, they ought
to be at least at 125p.

Even after rises, the forward pe is very low, it has a ton of cash and both
the booth and laundry businesses are flying making it a bid target for me.

On top of that there's a massive dividend and a special dividend is on the
way too. Definitely one that ticks all the boxes.

Looks like MEGP should deliver another couple of great statements and
would expect to see the shares gather steam once they can clear 100p.

Shares in luxury companies have been hammered and so after the falls it
could be a good time to buy them.

Shares in Watches of Switzerland have nearly halved and now they look
super value.

Maybe there has been some softness in luxury watch prices as people need the
money and flog them at lower prices but they are also seen as an asset
and I suspect prices will come back up.

Though is has some debt, it also has some large assets and it's opening
new stores in the US and Europe.

I noticed its shop at Gatwick Airport was pretty busy too.

So potentially back to a good price and with a little patience the shares could
tick up some more.

Concurrent Technology CNC is an interesting one.

This has been a bit of a disappointment, not doing much for some time, but perhaps given falls and little interest it might be a buying chance and I bought a few.

It's been languishing for some time but appears to be attracting buyers now.
It got hit a bit by the Ukraine war.

If forecasts are anywhere near right it looks like there's more upside, there's
also a cash pile and a dividend.

This month it announced a decent supply agreement with a large medical
technology company.

Perhaps this might lead to more contracts and agreements, and if so there could
be substantial upside for CNC.

Ricardo RCDO came up at the online seminar and I thought was a decent overlooked share.

It seems to be growing strongly, it looks cheap on both PE and PEG.

Downside is it does have some debt but the levels are well within what I'll
allow and it's coming down.

I like the software side of the business and it's involved with green energy and
its hydrogen division could take off - its website is a good read.

One problem is sometimes the spread widens but I managed to get some live
in the auction at the seminar last week at the sell price, so no spread to pay.

More of you seem to be getting interested in DMA to bag sell prices on shares
with wider spreads, dealing with that live at the next online seminar, Sept 24th.

I've always thought Computacentre CCC a very decent company and I've been
looking for a chance to pick some up on weakness.

I more than doubled my money on them last year and now they're down a bit
looks worth a try.

It provides workplace and data solutions and has a neat cash pile which makes
some acquisitions likely.

Indeed this month it's bought a value added reseller over in the states.

So, CCC looks like a great company at a decent price, there's a dividend
and I'm in! Share price can be volatile.

Foxtons FOXT popped up on a couple of the screens we did. At first I thought "too risky"
but then I remembered there are quite a few houses on the market here in
London all of a sudden.

And we know prices of rentals in the capital are storming up.

The shares look reasonable value too though it does have some debt.

Given what I think is going on in the London property the next statement could
be decent.

There were a few clues in the last one that things are on the up, especially
in the rental market.

Not one I'd want to hold onto for too long, but worth a bit of a gamble and the
shares are very liquid for a small cap.

A statement is due later this week which makes it more risky as you
never know.

Airtel Africa AAF trading range trade worked so well and I kept being about to bank profits but it just kept going higher so changed my mind and bought more instead!

The problem is there is a statement later this week and when shares go up a lot they often go down on statement day on "better to travel than arrive" scenario.

But looked at it again at the seminar and it does look decent fundamentally.

Maybe if it goes up more before the statement I might topslice or bank half, anyway a nice problem to have.

I added yet more Telecom Plus TEP.

Seems a no brainer for now as the market continues to re-rate the shares as the turmoil in the energy market is so much in the company's favour.

Us shareholders have a huge dividend about to arrive, mine will be something
like £15,000.

I've added yet more to the Aston Martin short after it rose when it got
some backing from the Saudis.

The money will help but the debt is still massive!

It's not going to make a profit for the forseeable future and without
the Saudi money would really be a bust.

I'm tempted to add to the short in Card Factory.

Might be ok if it was just an online business but no-one really shops much for cards anymore and the youth of today have given up on Xmas cards.

I sat opposite a store yesterday at peak time while waiting for the mrs to get
her nails done.

Not a single sale with two staff on their phones with nothing to do.

It has a horrendous debt and if you add the lease liabilities a crazily
high one compared to profits.

The head cheese is leaving, doesn't look like a happy leaving either and you
wonder if something isn't right there.

The big question is: will he get a leaving card .. sent via Moonpig?

APH was sold for a loss of £87 after a mediocre statement.
I took profits of £2,135 in the short of Just Eat. It reached target nicely
and faster than expected.

I topsliced a bit of Begbies after a good run for a profit of £1,320.

Also taken profits in Naked Wines short of £1,850 - it crashed
spectacularly and no reason not to bank the quick profit!

The short in Compass got stopped for a loss of £100.

Topslice of BA. for a profit of £686.

Some of 888 got stopped for a loss of £385.

I've taken profits on the Joules short of £2,300 - there was only 20p left of profit even if it went bust so may as well bank the profit now!

Joules has been a great short with a quickish profit.

Losses and profits banked gives a banked profit for the site
of £8,489.

Fantastic results from Bloomsbury with the share price beginning to push up.

At some point soon there ought to be a re-rating to nearer the 500p mark.

Still waiting to see if there is a bid for I Energiser at a good premium, in the
meantime a massive dividend arrives for all on August 1st.

The Team 17 trading range idea is working like a dream, nearly there!

Directors at tiddler Time Finance have been buying up a lot of shares
including the CEO, certainly looks undervalued.

Well, it could be an interesting August.

Will the cautious buying coming in continue?

It is possible inflation will peak soon and things could sort themselves out.

If they do, there is a lot of upside!

Quite a nice way to find a quality co is to use Stocko's quality screen and make sure they have a good quality score, over 80.

Interactive Investor have a referral thing for the moment so if you want £125 of fees

On the referral I apparently would get £200 into my account so a win win for both of us?

Money Week offer:

Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.

Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.

There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.

The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..

On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!

So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT

Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.

Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.

**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.

Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
