If you buy the print copy you get the e-book free! The book is a total update since the last one which I wrote in 2011.There are tons of ideas, trader stories, psychology, biggest trading mistakes and 20 trading strategies to make money. Also loads of stuff I have learned over the last three years. New insights into trading tax free, tons of examples, a whole load of new traders' tales and some of the trades that have helped to make me well over £2 million tax free.
A friend of the mrs is interesting in training as an Independent Financial Advisor, if any of you IFAs out there have any tips on how to train to be one, best courses, ideas, please email elizabethanneburns2@icloud.com
I look forwards to seeing some of you at the seminar on Monday! As well as live markets there is live chocolate waffle making, and a 3 course lunch..
Those of you booked in should get an email from me tomorrow with final details, your parking and internet is all paid for.
A reminder we start at 10am, doors from 9.30am, please register with Elizabeth first. Coffee and teas available from half nine with some great snacks at 11am! Don't worry if you are a little late, we will direct you to a seat.
I really hope you enjoy it as much as I will, and secretly of course I am hoping some nice trades will show themselves for me, trades I hope to find that I would have been too lazy to find at home! With a bit of luck I will make one or two trades on the day and maybe some spreadbets too.
Remember no question is too stupid to ask me... so stop me at any stage if you don't get something. Supply and demand and market timing is the hardest bit which we will tackle after lunch.. see you all there!
Yesterday I was presented with my award for "Best trading education provider"
If you want to see a pic of me getting the award go to this site:
http://uk.advfn.com/ct.php?ct=ODUyODA=
Note I'm the only one not wearing a suit or jacket. I haven't had to wear one since 1999 and no intention of ever wearing one again.
Sadly my white zebra T-shirt was in the wash and the only thing I could find was a pullover I got at debenhams online.
A decent cheesy smile from me, nothing like photos taken from a distance is there? Though the Mrs says "This does not look anything like you in real life". I'm not going to follow this up in case she means I look worse in real life...
While most of the winners can display their awards in the reception area of their plush offices it's a bit harder for me.
I thought about putting it outside the door of the apartment I work out of but given the only person who might see it is the postman... Though I wouldn't mind as I'm sure he thinks I'm an unemployed waster on benefits.
Maybe the old lady that lives upstairs might see it... only she might just end up tripping over it so I'd best not.
Christopher was very excited about it when I got it home and the best place he reckoned was among the ten football trophies he has.
He confided in Mrs NT that he thought I was disappointed it wasn't as good as his football trophies...
Look as it's the first thing I ever won in my life I'm very happy. That's apart from a grade three certificate in gym but I lost that.
Anyway it looks good with 3 football trophies either side of it. I can die happily now I know I won something in my life....
The Mrs is away in Ireland till Sunday for a wedding. Not sure how I got out of it.... So it's just me and the lad. So expect pizza boxes and crisp packets and ready meals everywhere,, lucky I can tip the cleaner a few quid (obviously with a receipt of course) to get rid of the evidence before Mrs NT gets back.
I'll leave a bit of broccoli here and there to show that we ate healthily in her absence....
A lot of football while she is away. After he plays Friday night fives we are off to watch Fulham play Bournemouth in tomorrow night's game.
I think it's on TV. We're front row to the left of the TV picture at the right end of the first row near the corner flag. I'm in a black bobble hat and black jacket, will wave if the ball comes near us..
Then it's football training on Saturday morning and a match Sunday morning. Phew. Frankly a nice day on Monday with some of you discussing shares at the seminar will be a nice relaxing day after this weekend....
I was chatting with friends about the self driving google cars. One was very keen reckoning he'd love to sit in a self drive car relaxing and doing other things than driving. However maybe I changed his mind.
How's about your google car will obey the letter of the law. It'll do 20mph at midnight while everyone else overtakes doing 40. How's about you're going to the airport overnight?
You have to do 70 while everyone else does 80. It will obey all the rules as the Government sees fit. No more self-determination. Sometimes it's fun to break a rule or two no?
What if they decide 10mph in school zones. Watch others laugh as you're on 10mph at midnight... I say stop the google cars now before it's too late. Don't let this happen to us! Down with no driver cars!
Myself and Christopher went to see Shaun The Sheep the movie, good fun, even for adults. Probably because it wasn't Disney. Disney films have been terrible for ages.
We had a brilliant day at the last seminar - I can't believe how many of you stayed so late with me, but hope it was worth it.
Some of you have already booked the follow up on March 23rd which is very flattering and thanks for so many of your kind words that you emailed to me.
I'll just publish one from an attendee:
"Best things from the seminar: meeting you and Elizabeth, stock selection methods,
Shorting, CFDs and spread betting, using the other websites - such as ADVFN
DMA - FASCINATING to see the real-time price change when you'd put a "buy" in!
Number-crunching so many stocks, to get good practice at quickly assessing them.
To have kept my attention right up until the end means that: 1. You made it interesting right up until the end 2. I was still keen to get the most out of the day, and therefore still keen to keep trading, and improve my skills. so you did a good job, there.
You also put a massive amount into it, and I applaud your staying power - even spending time with the delegates during the breaks, which must make it a very long, and knackering day for you, so very well done!"
Don't forget you can spend a day with me at my next seminar on Monday
April 20th, and get into good trading practices by trading live with me.
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April seminar interested".
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Spreadbetting firm Capital Spreads offers a great book on how to spreadbet for readers via this link http://www.capitalspreads.com/ntrader
Its spreads are surprisingly tight and interestingly an automated stop loss is applied to each trade - so beginners know what their max loss is from the outset. A super site for beginners.
I use IG Index for betting on the very small companies, the only spreadbet firm I can find that does the smaller ones making it possible to trade AIM cos tax free.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on april 20th
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "april seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling
Which obviously makes me feel even smugger than ever. They measured 15,000 willies.
But .. how was it done? Were volunteers paid to nip behind a screen with a DVD of "College Girls Gone Wild" and then come leaping out when they were ready to be measured?
Actually I don't want to think about it anymore...
One interesting point to come out of the research is we now know why the North Korean leader is so angry and want to point his.. er .. massive weapons at us.
North Koreans came out as having the smallest willies of all. So there you are world peace literally hangs on a willie. I'm now wondering about Putin.
Look, could we just get all the world leaders willie enhancement surgery and all live in peace?
Netflix has been rubbish recently with nothing decent on it but now we have Better Call Saul and House of Cards!
For Breaking Bad fans isn't it good to have Better Call Saul? Ok so it's not quite as gripping as BB (yet) but it's fab to be back in the same area with the same team.
Saul's dilemma of breaking bad himself is quite fascinating. Is he going to go from small scams to bigger ones? You bet!
The humour and fun shines through here and it's only going to get better and better...
Great to have the return of House of Cards... some critics say the first episode was a bit slow, but I think most viewers enjoy a slow build up. I loved the first one, problem is they released the whole series in one go and I'm going to be good and just watch one a week rather than binge it.
Kevin Spacey is superb as the president who would kill his own granny if he thought it would help him win votes. Or cheat and lie or anything to get power. Remind you of people in our parliament at all?
Reader David mailed me to say "Suits" is good on Netflix so we'll try that once BCS and HOC are done.
The Casual Vacancy failed to record on Sky and couldn't be bothered to load it on catchup so it can't have been much good if we weren't bothered.
Girls continues to be fun on Sky Atlantic and a reminder that it's not so great being in your 20s.. all that angst!
Togetherness is like Girls for the 30s and 40s and has really grown on me. If you've not seen it might be worth a look from the beginning.
Christopher likes "The Voice" and I watch it with him, I don't think I'd bother myself.
It's very long-winded and to me most of the singers, though good, sound pretty much the same, it's like a karaoke contest where the singers are good.
Four Rooms is back and this is a great show (ch 4 Sunday nights). Nice format, how much is a dealer prepared to pay you for something? And which price should you accept from which dealer?
It's a bit like shares, trying to get the best price. Always fascinating.
It's Cheltenham races next week so lots of decent betting action for those interested.
A sports spreadbet account is really a must for these festivals. You can lay hot favourites you think are going to lose, buy sps if you think an outsider will win, bet on the number of lengths, great fun. In effect you can be the bookie and lay horses.. all those horses and you're just wanting one to lose! Best place is here

Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

I'm out of the ftse shorts I was in. There is no point fighting the trend. At the moment it looks like markets just want to stay up. Some people try to hedge by putting on massive shorts but I think that can backfire. Best to just run with the trend and if you miss a few points off the top better that than be in big shorts when the rise keeps on going.
I've been reading a lot about India, there appears to be huge growth going on there, with some forecasts of 8% plus growth over the next five years.
So I decided it might be a good idea to get some exposure to India. It would probably be expensive to buy Indian shares so I reckoned an Indian investment trust would be the best idea.
So I've bought quite a shedload of the New India Investment Trust (NII).
The trust is in effect a basket of Indian shares.
The value of the trust goes up and down depending on the net asset value of the trust. That value is published every day around lunchtime. So if India continues to boom, so should the trust. More about investment trusts in my book. So no worries here about market maker games or share price manipulation - whatever the net asset value is... that's the key to the share price here.
Dialight's (DIA) a share I made more than £100,000 on after buying for 140p at a seminar in 2009 and selling up at over a tenner a couple of years ago. They're back on my radar and I'm back in.
An excellent statement from Dialight this week with revenue pushing higher again. Also the chairman and a director bought shares this week. Looks like it has good prospect for further growth and a push back up.
I'm not sure why shares in Shoezone (SHOE) dived last week but on noting it I just bought some more!
Prospects look exceptional here and the shares continue to look cheap and I don't intend to sell them till the share price looks more well heeled. Certainly at some point they should get a lift over 300p.
I've bought into NMC Health (NMC).
I really like the middle east medcare sector at the moment. There is a massive catalyst for growth in that Dubai is rolling out mandatory healthcare insurance over the next couple of years which should see shares in NMC continue to rise - and also that of Al Noor which I bought last time and have a load of from lower.
The shares don't on the face of it look cheap - but remember the market looks forwards and it is eyeing up the benefits due from mandatory heathcare.
I think both NMC and ANH will boom (boom shake the room). (Tick, tick, tick.. boom...) (that's enough aged dance music references)
I bought back into Caretech (CTH) after selling out of them previously.
When they dipped to 200p they looked too much of a bargain. Caretech managed to raise a decent £21m in a share placing this week and its agm statement was very positive.
I now expect to hang onto Caretech for a few years as a lovely isa tuckaway.
Most oil services shares have been hammered so I thought it might be worth snapping up a couple, got a few Hunting (HTG) before results - I suspected most of the bad news of a falling oil price was in the price.
Today's statement shows Hunting to be very undervalued despite the short-term outlook.
And I topped up on the very cheap looking Gulf Marine Services (GMS) which looks to have plenty of upside from here. Would have thought a return to the 150 level for a nice 20%.
I sold my trading shares in TEP which reached target for a profit of £770. They seem to be in a trading range of a tenner to £12 - a definite bargain around a tenner so I'm thinking of doing the trade over again and buying some trading tep shares this afternoon or tomorrow around a tenner or low 10s for another run up to 12. Could make another shorter-term profit on them again.
Long-term holding remains.

First as look at some of my companies which have reported.

Well, good old Dignity reported - a fabulous set of results and it's just a share to holdto, well till death do us part! Already doubled on these and over the years no surprise if it doubled again, there's a lot of money in death!
Quartix, an under the radar type of share reported a nice rise of near 10% in profits and net debt has been substantially reduced to near nothing. And it's proposing a maiden dividend of 3p.
Management looks decent here and looks like one to tuck away for decent steady gains.
OPG reported a decent set of figures and there appears to be plenty potential for catalysts to give the share price a handsome re-rating this year.
See is a share I hadn't thought about for some time as the price barely moves but a statement came out this week. It is almost impossible to value. I sold a bit a while back during the clear out where I sold a bit of everything. It hasn't really moved much for a year. It's a jam tomorrow one, the jam has potential to be really thick but because there are no real profits yet, it's hard to know what price they should be. However the statement showed some promise and if news starts to come in of new contracts it's still one that could double and treble. It is high risk though but one where patience could pay so I'll keep what I have. A move higher might spur me on later in the year to top up.
Energy Assets reported buying up Sa Gas Engineers which looks a good fit. This company should get a re-rate in time. 32 Red reported some lovely figures and wish I hadn't taken profits on some of them a while back. Firmly holding the others.
Elsewhere Sprue Aegis keeps rising - it seems to stay put for a while then put on 15p which is fine by me! Xeros also is providing a lovely share, a nice treble on that in my sipp and a double in the isa.
New Issue John Laing seems to be doing ok, up more than 5p on the issue price now. Awaiting hopeful news on my two bid favs, Iomart and 888. My old favourite where I have made a fortune - GB Group seems to be starting to move up again.
Pets At Home is still doing well and now up more than 30% on the initial buying, being a bit greedy and looking for 250. Those of you who came to the seminar saw the real giant spreadbets I have in it where I am up more than £13,000.
Carclo shares continue to prosper and Amino too now hits over 140.
Entertainment One rose to 300 then fell back, it might take a few goes.
Optimal Payments is rising very nicely indeed and looks about to head back to the 400 area.
Servelec is trying to get above 300, whole numbers are always a stumbling block.
I still have the spreadbet in British Airways or consolidated something or other whatever they're called now and see I am more than 2 grand up. I only bought them as a short-term play on the ebola fears being overdone but as they seem strong I might as well turn it into a longer-term thing!
** TWO NEWER SPREADFIRMS I USE:
FOR SMALL COMPANIES:
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

TIGHTEST SPREAD FOR TRADING THE FTSE/DOW ETC
If you're into trading indices this one is the cheapest with just a 0.8 spread which is fantastic - execution is top too

If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click earn with is then sign up now and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
