http://www.harriman-house.com/book/view/1040/trading/robbie-burns/the-naked-trader/1317
If you buy the print copy you get the e-book free! The book is a total update since the last one which I wrote in 2011.There are tons of ideas, trader stories, psychology, biggest trading mistakes and 20 trading strategies to make money. Also loads of stuff I have learned over the last three years. New insights into trading tax free, tons of examples, a whole load of new traders' tales and some of the trades that have helped to make me well over £2 million tax free.
Next Website Update: Thursday April 9Th
So many amazing people there - Mr and Mrs Fudge (!) thanks for the fudge cake! Great to see so many staying right to the bitter end and enjoyed the chats with some of you at lunch and afterwards.
It was brilliant to see some of you really get the level 2 bit and how to time entries and exits and some interesting ideas came out of it.
Thanks for being so attentive and asking such good questions and judged from the feedback you all got something out of it.
I presume you all got the notes I mailed you the day after the event. If you didn't let me know.
And I am very flattered that some of you are right away coming to spend another day with me on Monday... I think it is a good idea, consolidate what you already learned and add some more.
A three week half-term and Easter is almost upon us - already!!
We're off for a week's skiiing in Swizerland once school breaks up - given the problems recently it'll cost us a few quid to buy into the local currency... as we'll be away the next update will be April 9th.
The Mrs has been practising hard on a dry slope and Christopher already did a week with the school.
I did a week many years ago and vowed never to ski again after an unfortunate incident...
That involved me speeding downhill and forgetting how to stop, something about a plough or some such.
Which would have been ok except I was headed towards a cafe full of people sitting outside.
They saw me coming but assumed I was competent and was going to stop.
Wasn't till the last second they realised I wasn't and I went hurtling into a pile of people.
A load of spilt lattes later I was ok and so was everyone else, except some shock.
The previous day I had managed to spear the ski instructor's expensive jacket with my ski stick. (Ski instructors are of course only interested in coaching women under 25).
Given compensation payments were mounting up I decided to quit skiing there and then.
So I am not really sure how much I will be doing but the Mrs and Christopher will be hard at it.
I suspect I will end up sitting in a lot of cafes away from endangering myself and those around me.... Let's hope the holiday doesn't go downhill..
I'm glad to say I passed my interview with the charity I've volunteered for which is all about regularly being in touch with the lonely elderly and befriending them. I have an initial 2 hour training session to come next week.
I guess the hardest thing is if they say something abusive or perhaps offensive. My view is not to be their judge, and try and move on to other topics. I'll let you know how I get on!
Once I feel comfortable doing this, then my next step I think is to join the Samaritans having already done the initial meeting with them.
I expect and hope to volunteer more and more as I have been very lucky indeed to have had a nice life and I am keen to give something back to charity something worth more than money, and that's time.
The Mrs and me go out for a nice meal at a decent restaurant.
A couple come in and take the table next to us. I didn't really notice them but then Mrs NT made rolling eye motions.
Couple were sitting there. Both had their smartphones out, texting maybe. Not talking to each other at all.
Not remarkable in this addicted to smartphone age. What was remarkable though was they kept this up for THE WHOLE MEAL. They hardly spoke to each other at all.
Having the odd sneaky look between us they were updating their facebook pages with pictures of the food and then tweeting as well.
Of course it's ok for phones to come out at dinner I guess but they may as well have both been on laptops the whole time.
So while all their friends (mostly not real I reckon) think this winning couple are having a fantastic time in reality they are not. The point of going out is to have fun and enjoy the company of whoever you're with, not with pretend friends on a computer. Really sad.
Facebook is sad though. People put out their "best" bits and how fantastic their lives are. But all the crap stuff is hidden away.
I reckon the more someone posts on their Facebook page about how great things are the more depressing and rubbish their lives really are.
You won't find me on Facebook or Twitter though there have been one or two impersonators of me in the past.
One on Twitter even posted as me using my picture and was in such denial he thought it strange I ask him to stop. Bizarre. I guess I should be flattered people want to pretend to be me. I try not to get too annoyed about it as I try really hard to be kind and that we all have our weird quirks. Perhaps we are all slightly bonkers.
Thanks for so many of your kind words that you emailed to me after last week's seminar.
I'll just publish one from an attendee:
"Best things from the seminar: meeting you and Elizabeth, stock selection methods,
Shorting, CFDs and spread betting, using the other websites - such as ADVFN
DMA - FASCINATING to see the real-time price change when you'd put a "buy" in!
Number-crunching so many stocks, to get good practice at quickly assessing them.
To have kept my attention right up until the end means that: 1. You made it interesting right up until the end 2. I was still keen to get the most out of the day, and therefore still keen to keep trading, and improve my skills. so you did a good job, there.
You also put a massive amount into it, and I applaud your staying power - even spending time with the delegates during the breaks, which must make it a very long, and knackering day for you, so very well done!"
Don't forget you can spend a day with me at my next seminar on Monday
April 20th, and get into good trading practices by trading live with me.
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April seminar interested".
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Spreadbetting firm Capital Spreads offers a great book on how to spreadbet for readers via this link http://www.capitalspreads.com/ntrader
Its spreads are surprisingly tight and interestingly an automated stop loss is applied to each trade - so beginners know what their max loss is from the outset. A super site for beginners.
I use IG Index for betting on the very small companies, the only spreadbet firm I can find that does the smaller ones making it possible to trade AIM cos tax free.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on april 20th
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "april seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

I suspect they will make up the money in other ways. How's about a tenner for a wee and £100 for a inflight poo? Actually make that £200 if you had a curry.
Which reminds me you may have read this week a BA flight to Dubai had to turn back because of "Smells from the toilet" which were "too unpleasant". Can you imagine being the person that did the turd that caused the problem? Talking of turds...
It's always the same with the lefties who rise to the top.
They pretend to be men or women of the people. We're the same as you poor suckers they say.
Take both Ed Moribund and the new leader of "Don't worry you still don't have to pay any taxes like the Germans do" Greece.
Ed shows everyone the nanny's kitchen instead of the vast rich looking very nice one he'll have in his Hamstead mansion. There's nothing wrong with him having a nice kitchen, just show us. It's fine.
Meanwhile Greek leader Yanis makes a huge cock up by showing off his very nice "Love nest" at the foot of the Acropolis.
"White wine socialism for Greece," say the commentators.
I guess Ed's is nearer prosecco socialism.
They've decided it's a good idea to allow you to "report crimes" at cashpoint machines such as rapes. You've gotta laugh. Can you imagine waiting in the queue for cash while someone types in their crime report. What will the new menu be:
Do you want
A. Cash. B. Mini Statement. C. Report Rape. D. Cash is coming out of the cashpoint and I'm being robbed right now.
Better Call Saul just continues to... get better.
A fantastic follow up to Breaking Bad as Saul continues to battle against being bad. The story gets plenty of time to breathe without ever getting boring.
And it's great to have Mike back, and sure we all hope Tuco reappears soon. Doing well not to binge on House of Cards, just one a week and it continues to be as decent as it was last series.
So the last Dragons Den without Duncan and Piers and Kelly gets an airing.
Can't say I'll miss them much though Duncan was nice and grumpy at times. Of course Peter loves being on telly so he stays. More interested these days in the US equivalent of Dragons Den called "Shark Tank". You can catch full episodes on Youtube.
The contestants know their figures and are decent, it's the fights between the sharks to get the contestants to take their money that is really fun.
BTW did you know that more than half the "deals" made in the den fall through afterwards. If you work it all out the Dragons basically shell out very little. They just want to be on telly.
At last we made it through to episode three of Game of Thrones. Previously had only managed episode one every 6 months. Now getting the hang of it.
Obviously I find the lesbian scenes to be in extremely bad taste (!) but as the story as a whole looks good I'll just fast forward through those horrible lesbian scenes....
The Grand National is coming up so lots of decent betting action for those interested.
A sports spreadbet account is really a must for these festivals. You can lay hot favourites you think are going to lose, buy sps if you think an outsider will win, bet on the number of lengths, great fun. In effect you can be the bookie and lay horses.. all those horses and you're just wanting one to lose! Best place is here

Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

NEXT WEBSITE UPDATE THURSDAY APRIL 9TH
.. Well markets continue to look strong and remain near highs, the temptation remains to short - but the thing is they continue to bounce whenever there is a drop.
I still think markets are there to be followed not guessed at. You can get stuck in shorts and remember they can be expensive to hold as you get charged every night for keeping them going. Best to wait for an obvious downtrend to start first.
Markets quite liked the budget. I liked the idea of encouraging saving.
Savers have had a bad deal for a long time.
Pension pots being reduced (did you know 1 million in pension savings only buys you £26,000 income a year) makes Isas more and more valuable as savings tools.
As a share trader you are absolutely crazy not to use up your allowance every year if you have the money spare. Over the years I'd have had to pay probably £200,000 plus in tax if it had not been for the good old Isa.
Remember you can withdraw as much as you like from your Isa with no tax to pay.
I've bought some shares in Imimobile (IMO). They've come back a bit since launched on the market last year - the price now looks very cheap and so I have been tempted in.
Profits are climbing nicely and on top of that IMO has a huge pile of cash it could use for acquisitions or even share buybacks.
I suspect it's one of those under the radar shares and a lack of interest has forced the price down. It is finding a few buyers around here so it looks a decent entry price for not too large a stake as it is quite a small company.
I topped up in a long-termer getting more shares in Scisys (SSY). Always a bit risky to buy shares ahead of results which are next Thursday.
But it looks like a good solid business, gradually growing with low debt. The company has been buying back its own shares which companies often do when they feel their share price is too low.
A good statement and shares could see a nice re-rating, and I remain a long-term holder. If of course the statement isn't so good then it might be exit time.
I bought more KBC before results on the basis that they appeared to be extremely cheap especially as they had a lot of cash.
Results this week were very decent - and can't see any reason why any bad news isn't already and has been in the price for ages and I'm hoping of a rerating up to 120p.
I bagged a few shares in Next this morning after the fall caused by results. It's a great company and nearly always worth buying them on weakness. Would expect to tuck away for a few years!
I'm trying to repeat my around a tenner to around £12 trade in TEP so I managed to get some new ones to try and repeat it to try and get the tenner to 1170 again. The company is holding a massive event for distributors this weekend where they are likely to update company news and that might see an uplift to the price next week. Long-term holding remains.... er.. long-term and still expect to hold for another few years.
It's amazing how often shares repeat a trading history, for example Rgs always falls after a report, stays down for a bit and then after that usually rise nicely. So it was an easy one to take profits before results, banking £347 and then buying back yesterday for a rise back up. Lcg just wouldn't budge above 30p for so long I gave up and sold at 29 for a loss of £88. Moving down today, could be a nice re-buy lower as it looks good value in the mid 20s.
I sold Pres as it reached the target and banked a nice profit of £504. Possibly a repeat trade coming there too!
Around The Portfolio
I couldn't be any happier with the portfolio which has boomed nicely higher in the last week. Star is Spire which has flown up giving me a tremendous profit - this week is announced it has won permission for a £60m hospital in Nottingham.
This could be the start of another re-rating for this brilliant one, and looking for it to hit 400p soon. Might consider banking a little profit soon though, possibly before results.
Recent buy Dialight has really lit up with a massive rise. Optimal Payment is on a roll and trying to get up and over the 400 mark again.
Good old Dignity continues well and shouldn't be long before it hits 2000. reported. Already doubled on these and over the years no surprise if it doubled again, there's a lot of money in death!
Quartix rises nicely after it reported a nice rise of near 10% in profits and net debt has been substantially reduced to near nothing. And it's proposing a maiden dividend of 3p.
Shoe Zone has gone nicely higher and hope for an uplift to 300p soon. Caretech has flown up,needs to clear 230 now. Mid East heathcare duo Al Noor and NMC are still going up.
Energy Assets looks like it may get a re-rating up 32 Red continues its strong run up. Elsewhere Sprue Aegis hangs onto gains. Keeps rising - it seems to stay put for a while then put on 15p which is fine by me!
New Issue John Laing is now doing the business and rises gently. Awaiting hopeful news on my two bid favs, Iomart and 888. My old favourite where I have made a fortune - GB Group seems to be starting to move up again.
Pets At Home is still doing well and now up more than 30% on the initial buying, being a bit greedy and looking for 250. Those of you who came to the seminar saw the real giant spreadbets I have in it where I am up more than £13,000.
Carclo shares continue to prosper and have hit 135, 150 looks the next target. Amino too now hits over 140.
Entertainment One rose to 305 then fell back, it might take a few goes. But shouldn't be long before 300 is history
I still have the spreadbet in British Airways or consolidated something or other whatever they're called now and see I am more than 2 grand up. I only bought them as a short-term play on the ebola fears being overdone but as they seem strong I might as well turn it into a longer-term thing!
** TWO NEWER SPREADFIRMS I USE:
FOR SMALL COMPANIES:
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

TIGHTEST SPREAD FOR TRADING THE FTSE/DOW ETC
If you're into trading indices this one is the cheapest with just a 0.8 spread which is fantastic - execution is top too
http://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader/
If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.
http://www.ig.com/nakedtrader
As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
