Good news is the Mr Whippy machine is hired again, the cones and flakes are on the way for unlimited 99s on the day! Also got some great snacks lined up and a fab lunch. And massive tubs of sweets!
I hope you all enjoy the day and we find lots of good trades and I can help you on your way to being decent traders/investors.
Remember the event is casual, no suits please. Find your worst trainers. See you there from 10am, if you are late don't worry as the Mrs will be there to guide you in.
If you can't make that one I have now added a new seminar date, Sept 15th. Email me for details - decent early bookers discount!
This is the last update till Sept 7th when we're back from various holiday adventures. We seem to be away most of the time - if I get the energy or the time maybe I can do another one. But don't count on it. In the
I'm also looking at the first ever naked trader radio show. Not sure again when this will be out. But I am looking for the odd contribution.
How's about your top 5 moans - your most irritating annoyances - things you want to go into room 101! Also looking for your favourite crap single. You know it's crap but you can't help but like it!
How about your top 5 worst share buys ever and how much you lost! Your favourite two dance floor songs you'd like mashed up together. Least favourite 5 people and why in one sentence.
And how's about your fave 5 kids tv shows. What's your most annoying habit? Send any contributions to me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "radio" in subject line. Or anything else along these lines you fancy.
I won't reply to you on this but you may find your contribution used! Thanks in advance.
It's been a crazy busy time. But as we are a long time dead that's got to be good. (Not good being dead, good being busy.. oh you know what I mean).
It's going to get even crazier as we already have four holidays booked and maybe we can do even more. That's the benefit of not having a job - I could do what I want.
Wow, what a fantastic group of people at Friday's seminar. I'm not even saying it to make them feel good about themselves...
People who are all determined, one way or another, to improve their lives. Whether they wanted to make extra money, think about doing it full time, or for whatever reason.
A few shout outs! Steve for being a good sport at losing the Twyings vs Yorkshire Tea test.... Becky and Pete for being the best behaved brother and sister duo ever... (thanks for a copy of the pic you took!).
Dimitrios for his good humour over a certain issue (!). John for getting me the "Deal or No Deal" DVD. Nothing like getting a present from the pound shop.
David for being rep for the beginners. And what the hell was my neighbour doing there?
Thank you all for being such fun and making it such a lovely day. Be happy to see some of you again at a follow up.
I managed to cut back from 5 Mr Whippys to 4 at this one and hoping to cut my addiction with 3 on the 17th.
Anyway next is Sept 15th, so email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Sept seminar interested" in the subject line.
As I said it's been busy. Yesterday we were at Wimbledon. Thanks for the tickets Lionel!
Lots of security so felt very safe and it was hot! But boy those flying ants!
They were everywhere, all over players and all over us. I got two right up my
shorts - actually it was quite a nice feeling for a bit....
They made life uncomfortable for all of us with the crowd itching and shaking off insects.
We were watching tennis while the ants looked like they were trying to have sex which looks pretty tricky if you are trying to fly at the same time.
We saw two main games first up no 9 seed Nishikori beat an unseeded player. It was a decent game but Nishikori didn't look anywhere good enough to trouble the leading players.
The best game was Venus Williams versus a very good opponent Qiang Wang. Wang looks an interesting prospect for the future. But Williams has still got it.
She knows where to put the effort in and when to rest. Despite being an outsider I've now had a few quid on her at each way at 14/1. I wonder whether she can cause a massive upset?
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader/sports
has decent odds on the tennis and cricket.
Slight trouble in the audience as we think friends or family of Wang were in the crowd two rows down. They took pics every time she moved and those in the row below us kept pleading with them to stop it as it was ruining the game. After negotiations, they agreed to stop.
Big surprise at the price of strawberries and cream. I thought they would
be a fiver but a bowl was a very reasonable £2.50! Fair enough....
Thanks to the lovely Lionel for tickets for Wimbledon , they were amazing Lionel, what a view! If you get the chance to go to Wimbledon do go, it is great fun. People of all ages mixing and having a great time.
Had a fun time at a music festival. Though I still can't pretend I'm a big fan of tents. There is just something about a lovely 5 star hotel room...
I'm ok for the first bit in a tent but once it's 4am and I'm freezing and being attacked by a biting bug... So this time did the sensible thing.
Collapsed into the tent, woke up at 5am, and then went home to bed! No traffic on the road, a bite of breakfast at the services into bed for 7am, perfect!
We're off to Ireland, Crete, the Cotswolds and Spain in that order over the summer and also looking for one more idea which we haven't thought of yet.
Vaguely pondering Butlins for a laugh. I'll let you know any interesting things that happens. It's always a bit of a shock when the school term ends and we have Christopher around all the time. Means a lot of park football coming up for me....
Thanks for continued feedback on the last seminar ... Here's some from Jane:
"Thanks for both a very informative and also a very enjoyable and engaging day yesterday. Despite having got up at 3:20 I found you kept my attention all day, Level 2 has definitely begun to make sense now, and, I now have a good understanding of Spread Bets.
It was also lovely being able to talk to like-minded fellow 'traders', and share experiences. The venue, food and diversions - waffles, ice-cream etc all helped to make the day. The school 'milk bottles with straws' took me back (along with a few others I spoke to!) to an earlier time!"
Thanks Jane, a pleasure!
If you missed this one next date is Sep 15th.. Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Sept seminar interested" in the subject line There is a giant early bird discount on offer.
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
I love it the most getting mails from people who have spent a day with me some time ago and are doing well. This was very pleasing from Jason:
"I took part on one of your courses this summer and I wanted to send you a belated thank you. The next day I got myself Level 2 and sold all of my positions, most of them had losses, I then started to buy shares, some which we found on the course and others using the techniques you shared, the simplicity of your selection process surprised me but I also found it easy to apply. Within a couple of weeks I felt so much more at ease trading, I wasn't worried about my decisions anymore because I felt in control of each trade, I knew when to sell and when to hold on and I'm no longer anxious when I open my account because it's always in the plus.
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
Thanks Jason but it is down to you, you applied the discipline needed and had the cuts to cut your losers.

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

The deal is via me you can save £30 for your first year by paying just £174 inc vat via me instead of £208.43
Just mail me for full details if you'd like it with "silver" in the subject line.
Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on Sep 15th
Price is £690 plus vat. However there is decent early bird discount on offer. Mail me for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "June or July)seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Other students also had the same thing. Is this the start of future generations being born with smartphone shaped hands?
Also theory was people would become smaller as need for size and strength diminished. War, dominance of any kind is soon going to be won by technology not muscles. Fascinating stuff!
But soon people are going to get dents from my bike wheel.
I can hardly cycle for long along the cycle/pedestrian shared pavement without having to stop as a zombie texter transfixed by the screen and oblivious to all around walks straight into me, wrapped in their own world.
Goodness knows how many deaths are being caused by this not only in cars but people walking into the road?
What do you mean stop moaning on you grumpy old git?
Enjoying reading all this week the court case against Mike Ashley, sportswear tycoon. His business meetings sound hilarious. Held in a pub till 3am.
At one meeting Ashley drank 12 pints and vomited into the fireplace in the bar to huge applause from his management team.
I know - he's a crazy gambler and probably an alkie but still, can't help sometimes a sneaking admiration for someone who's one of life's characters.
You'd want him as a spreadbet customer - he's blown hundreds of thousands betting on the wrong shares. If you have blown money on shares - I can guarantee he's lost more than you!
It remains surprising just how many good TV shows are out there in the summer months. Quite a few bad ones too.
Naked Attraction is mind boggling dating show. What you normally get to see last you get to see first. First you get to see people's bits, then their face.
This ends up with a rubbish date where the contestants realise it really isn't the right way round. And because the only ones who would dare to bare are young and hungry for attention all the bits have got tattoos, there are safety pins and hardly any hair (hey join the club!) enough to put you right off your tea..
Anyhow the show made me feel good. Not that I'd be one to compare sizes but.... put it this way.... I'm feeling pretty smug!
Talking of big ones, Game of Thrones is nearly with us!
I'm sure many of you can't wait. Let's hope there is tons of sex and violence! Just a question of avoiding spoilers across the net.
The Handmaid's tale has pretty much become the series of the year. A terrifying look at what might happen if Christian fundamentalists took over in a world where giving birth got hard.
It's superbly done, brilliantly acted. A must watch if you've not seen any of it yet.
Fargo remains its hilarious self. Lots of witty lines and a brilliant new villain in Varga. Great music too.
Two new Netflix series getting good reviews are Gypsy and Glow, not had time to look at those yet.
Meanwhile I Love Dick on Amazon is a lot of fun though don't watch it when the kids are around as there is a lot of sex in it!
The Americans on ITV Encore continues to shine as our Russian spies start to tire of their workload. Is one of them going to crack? Lovely viewing.
Tried with Riveriera. But it's just too soapy for me sadly. The script and acting are a bit on the wooden side. I guess it's a bit like Dallas!

I want to tell you of an experience I had this week. After reading your new book Trade Like A Shark.
I had finished my research on some stocks and as I was about to buy when I felt myself get really excited about it because two of them were making good gains. I stopped myself, admitted to myself that my emotions were running amuck and I closed the computer.
The next day I made the trades but with ice running through my veins and no emotion. I found that by admitting to myself that my emotions where high I could gain control again.
Excellent you are really on the way to becoming a proper shark!

"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall

Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

I rarely do offers - Forex companies in particular offer me eyewatering sums. I turn all this down as I would never put out an offer for a company where I think my reader will 95% likely lose, or be taken for a ride.

There is lots more really fantastic material and I believe access should help investors and I now use it myself.

Seminar Date Sep 15Th
A bit of a summer slump going on. This is totally normal. Liquidity becomes harder and so shares get more volatile.
I'm holding both FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 shorts as a hedge for the time being. Those of you at the seminar will know I'm already up £10,000 plus on those. But they are really a cover for any downside in the shares.
Usually at some point in the summer there is a sudden slump down. So you have to figure how to deal with it. I always think have some cash on the side and some shorts open and beware of anything volatile for hard to value.
The big news for me is a bid for Worldpay. I've held these and other shares in the payments sector for some time.
So I also have Paysafe (PAYS) and Safecharge (SCH).
I bought all three because I assumed at some stage they would get bid for and the bidding wars might be underway.
The chances of PAYS and SCH getting bid for sooner than later are now much higher and have bought more of both Pays and SCH.
SCH in particular might go for a very decent price as it looks the cheapest of the three.
I wasn't sure whether to sell Worldpay as the price had leapt so decided it was sensible to sell half - I usually sell at least half on a bid - and got a decent price so that banks £2,966 for the website. I kept the rest, the bid looks likely to go through at 380.
Now to me it's more a question of when rather than if Pays and Sch are in the money. A Pays bid would see some spectacular gains for me. Let's see: these things tend to happen when you least expect them! I'll look to buy some further PAYS and SCH on any summer weakness.
I bought some Page Group (PAGE). We discussed this at the seminar and bought some the next trading day because as we discussed it I realised I liked it!
It's an interesting share which reports on July 11th so it is always a little risky buying before the figures. After all they might be bad! So on consideration I bought a small amount (for me) of 1,000 shares.
The group had a record quarter, profits are up and net cash stands at a massive £86m. Downside is it is struggling in Singapore and Brazil and flat in the UK as Brexit worries persist. But there is enough there for me to take a chance with it and if results are bad I won't take too bad a hit. If results are better than expected I might pick up some more.
Volex (VLX) came up on a screen at the seminar. I had traded this many moons ago when it was going well but then the company slumped after a series of warnings. Could it be on the way back? If so there could be much upside.
The recovery seems to be on but one has to be careful! Weighing up the risk/reward for the moment I think the reward outweighs the risk so I bought a few after the seminar.
What attracts me is it has net cash now and also if forecasts floating around are right it does look cheap. A rerating could see a 30% gain.
You need a lot of patience if you buy shares in Photo Me! (PHTM). It tends to sit in the same area for a while - but then when you least expect it - it suddenly rerates!
The market marked the shares down after latest results, possibly as there wasn't a special dividend. Still, profits were up 20% as was the dividend. I always like the fact it continues to evolve into new businesses and ideas - and its new laundry business could clean up. All in all I intend to tuckaway the shares and leave them for a couple of years barring of course any question marks appearing or a general market melt.
Purplebricks (PURP) I bought some back after taking giant profits last time. Of course this disruptor is not something that agrees with my metrics or is something I would normally get so don't write to me asking me why. Just a hypocrite right! I don't mind having the odd higher risk potential disruptor in the portfolio. However I don't intend to hang about if it gets de-rated!
I picked up a little more Next Fifteen (NFC) live at the seminar at the sell price using DMA (come to a seminar to learn that!) - it still looks cheap.
Finally on the buys Zytronic (ZYT) is a small company that's doing rather well. It has some net cash too, a decent dividend yield and it seems to be growing nicely.
Because of that the share price has been rising - but gradually with one spike up. It's come back from that spike so I got in. Interesting to see how it goes.
I've taken some more profit off the table. Half of Worldpay went as above for profit of £2,966... Xaf results were ok but not enough to keep me in so went for a profit of £335. Tep last trading lot went for a profit of £124. Kept the rest long-term and big div - ex div today. Plp sold for a profit of £92.
MGNS has proved a fab buy, results soon but after such strength sold half for a profit of £1,259.
Total profits banked for the site then are £4,776
Great statement from Microgen today - I've now nearly trebled on it since bought not that long ago - regrets? Why didn't I buy loads more?
Xeros the polymer bead laundry company has bought a US cleaning business as it looks to ramp up sales. This one could end up being huge. Quartix produced a decent statement. Another excellent isa tuckaway to hold for a long-term. Everyman Media has been going well.
A reminder summertime can be a hard time in the market with lots of volatility so always worth banking some profits and keeping a wad of cash free. Then come back in September all refreshed. Also if you have some cash you can relax a bit more "" that is a lot harder if you are "all in".
Anyway whatever you do, good luck !!

** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

If you like to trade the FTSE, Dow, or currencies then Spreado has an outstanding tight 0.8 spread - that is incredibly tight. The platform is very good and robust and have used it to great satisfaction and profits.
You can sign up at this link which includes a decent market commentary:

I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are. Read Spreadbetting chapter in naked trader 4 which highlights the risks.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
