The next update will be delayed slightly till after the seminar which hopefully is good news as you'll get to hear about the trades that came up. So next is July 6th.
The seminar on June 30th is sold out - Normally I wouldn't have another one till end of Sept or early Oct but demand is high so I will do an overflow date for July 17th. This is also for people who struggle to come in termtime.
For details on July 17th email me with July seminar interested in the subject line.
Look forwards to meeting those of you coming on the 30th "" if you haven't sent me your questionnaire answers yet would appreciate it if you could fill up and send over to me (though not compulsory!)
Good news is the Mr Whippy machine is hired, the cones and flakes are on the way for unlimited 99s on the day! Also got some great snacks lined up and a fab lunch. And massive tubs of sweets!
I hope you all enjoy the day and we find lots of good trades and I can help you on your way to being decent traders/investors.
Remember the event is casual, no suits please. Find your worst trainers. See you there from 10am, if you are late don't worry as the Mrs will be there to guide you in.
At last! A bit of summer appearing there and there.
But I can't wait for the school hols and we are off to Greece and Spain this summer. I hate the cold, get me out of here!
Busy time ahead as we come up to the end of the school year. There are school events, parent meet ups.
We are also going to a music festival and have booked a posh tent for a night out while Grandma comes to look after the young un. Wimbledon also beckons!
We have a morning lined up at Christopher's new school starting next year.
I'm sure those of you with exam aged kids are happy those are now over. The whole exam system is totally flawed but I guess you have to "Play the game".
Now stress is over and perhaps they can now just enjoy being kids and have a good muck about.
Given I bring so many customers to the local cafe at the park I now get a free Mr Whippy whenever I want it as the owner is very happy at the numbers I bring in via recommendations to the great ice-cream.
So thanks to the boss known to me as "Mrs Big Scoop". I'm not telling you where it is as I don't want to get her into any trouble.
Meanwhile given their popularity, unlimited Mr Whippy 99s are available at my seminars!
I did make a mistake at the park last night that has left me hurting all over. I agreed to a late evening kickabout in the park.
But then two hulking teenagers turned up and asked for a game. (The sort who hold classes in how to shoplift at the corner shop and get away with it).
Next thing I was in goal with balls coming at me with some force"¦ luckily I managed to protect the crown jewels and managed to duck most of them much to Christopher's annoyance but I got hit hard in a few places and feel about 110 years old today.
"Fidget Spinners" are the new craze among kids. It was loom bands a couple of years ago.
Every single shop and stall seems to have them. I just hope they sell their stock before the craze finishes...
Christopher tells me at school the teachers have now confiscated 155 spinners. I'm sure I saw two of them at a car boot sale last week....
If you want to be a millionaire all you have to do is come up with the next craze.
I was thinking pieces of string. Make them in different colours and call them "Stringers".
Hey don't steal my idea - Stringers is now my trademark. If you want to buy the idea off me just let me know...
Thanks for continued feedback on the last seminar ... Here's some from Jane:
"Thanks for both a very informative and also a very enjoyable and engaging day yesterday. Despite having got up at 3:20 I found you kept my attention all day, Level 2 has definitely begun to make sense now, and, I now have a good understanding of Spread Bets.
It was also lovely being able to talk to like-minded fellow 'traders', and share experiences. The venue, food and diversions - waffles, ice-cream etc all helped to make the day. The school 'milk bottles with straws' took me back (along with a few others I spoke to!) to an earlier time!"
Thanks Jane, a pleasure!
If you missed this one next date is July 17th.. Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "July seminar interested" in the subject line There is a giant early bird discount on offer.
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
I love it the most getting mails from people who have spent a day with me some time ago and are doing well. This was very pleasing from Jason:
"I took part on one of your courses this summer and I wanted to send you a belated thank you. The next day I got myself Level 2 and sold all of my positions, most of them had losses, I then started to buy shares, some which we found on the course and others using the techniques you shared, the simplicity of your selection process surprised me but I also found it easy to apply. Within a couple of weeks I felt so much more at ease trading, I wasn't worried about my decisions anymore because I felt in control of each trade, I knew when to sell and when to hold on and I'm no longer anxious when I open my account because it's always in the plus.
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
Thanks Jason but it is down to you, you applied the discipline needed and had the cuts to cut your losers.

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on July 17th
Price is £690 plus vat. However there is decent early bird discount on offer. Mail me for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.

See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

It reminds us all life really is short, it could end at any time for any of us and we ought to try and enjoy every day as it happens.
If you feel miserable for any reason, remember.. you are alive and a lot of unfortunate people aren't any more, they would love to be you.
So get out there, shake off your blues and do something that you enjoy. If you are in a horrible job don't waste your life in it "" is there anything else you could do?
Do remind me not to visit Mozambique.
Bald guys there don't last long. They think we have gold in our head.
And also that we are rich and our "parts" can be used to enrich others.
Just recently five of us slapheads were killed.
The Mrs keeps looking at my head. Is she searching for gold. If I suddenly disappear, you know what happened...

A wonderful third series of Fargo has started. And it has maintained the standard of the first two. Brilliantly quirky, great characters, plenty of twists, well chosen music - lovely filming, what is not to like?
The series always depends on the little things that go wrong that then build into big things, just like real life!
But the best series is back "The Americans" stuck on "ITV Encore watched by no-one. Don't miss this brilliant series - things that you see actually happened in real life.
Even more interesting because events like those in the series really happened during the cold war. It has a lovely 1984 vibe. Brilliant stuff, no idea why the series which is a massive hit in the USA isn't here.
Handmaids tale is fantastic sci on Ch4. Based on the best selling book it tells the tale of what might happen if a Christian group becomes a bit like Isis. It is all very plausible. I won't spoilt the plot but it really is fantastic. Do not miss!
Better Call Saul continues to build nicely as more of the Breaking Bad characters get introduced. Brilliant to see how they worked it all in. We're now seeing how Hector got his disability as his pills get switched. Haven't started House of Card yet "" going to binge it sometime over the summer.
My guilty secret remains Four in a Bed (Ch 4 weekdays at 5pm. Nothing like seeing eccentric Brits at their best, or worst. Hilarious as they desperately try to find dust behind their rivals' mirrors. Or the jackpot: a pube!
Rivieria starts on Sky Atlantic tonight, looks like it is going to be a good one, will let you know what I thought next time .
Summer looks set to be strong:
Game of Thrones begins July 17th. Gypsy starts June 30th on Netflix, looks promising. "Friends from College", Netflix from July 14th might be fun.
But the dark horse could be "Ozark" Netflix from July 21st. Dark and gruesome apparently could be the new Breaking Bad!
So, the election, goodness me. Could see it coming a mile off thanks to my older and younger "correspondents" - see markets section below for more on that and my bet on Sajid Javid to be the next Tory leader at 33-1!
Well, talk about an open goal. If I'd been in charge I'd have said, "time for something new and bold."
I'd have put forward an agenda to get the country excited again, working hard and really going for it. The idea is we try this for two years and see if it works. If it doesn't fine, go back to the way things were.
Cut taxes for everyone by 5p. Let's stop with the misery and get the country going! Earn more and get to keep more. Big breaks for self-employed. Offer those with wealth an optional chance to pay for their NHS services - I would have stumped up £200 for my camera up bum treatment for example.
And for goodness sake slash the stamp duty on property! The market is totally stagnant. Let's get it going again providing lots of work. More on the election coming up in the markets section below.

I want to tell you of an experience I had this week. After reading your new book Trade Like A Shark.
I had finished my research on some stocks and as I was about to buy when I felt myself get really excited about it because two of them were making good gains. I stopped myself, admitted to myself that my emotions were running amuck and I closed the computer.
The next day I made the trades but with ice running through my veins and no emotion. I found that by admitting to myself that my emotions where high I could gain control again.
Excellent you are really on the way to becoming a proper shark!

"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

SEMINAR DATE JULY 17th
You either have to laugh or cry regarding the election. The whole thing was a joke. On one side a politician offering all kinds of bribes he can't possibly deliver and on the other one who can't seem to communicate properly except for cliched soundbites.
I knew the tories were in trouble two weeks before the election when I phoned Beryl - one of the lonely old folk that I call once a week on behalf of the brilliant charity I volunteer for - silverline.
Two weeks previously I'd been discussing the election with her (she is in her 80s) and she said she would definitely vote for May.
But this time she said she had changed her mind and was going to vote Labour because of the "dementure tax" and she felt May's policies were against old folk.
She also said that the next door neighbour had also done the same thing.
Then the mrs mobile hairdresser in her 20s said the same. She was going to vote tory but changed her mind as Corbyn had offered no tuition fees.
Both the young and the old had changed! I immediately sold the number of tory seats with a spreadbet which paid off big time. So I really ought to thank both my lucky insights into the different age groups.
I also thought I should take some action before the election so I stopsliced a few shares and sold one or two to raise some decent cash which I still have.
I also shorted the FTSE 250 which worked well. Anyway looks like the tories will hang on for the mo.
FYI I have had £100 at 33-1 on Sajid Javid being the next Tory leader with Betfair and Paddy Power. (Now 25-1, probably my bet pushed the price in! Why?
Well Boris was too short at 2/1. No value though he is the likeliest. I can't imagine David Davis being elected.
Ruth Davidson only has a small majority. Michael Gove comes across as a bit bonkers and a bit of a backstabber.
That basically left Javid. He seems a nice chap and would be a total break from the people who've already been involved in elections. Anyway great value at 33s!! Happy to blow £100 to win an unlikely but you never know £3,300!
As we head into summer the markets lose a bit of liquidity and so can get more volatile so care is needed. So I have raised quite a bit of cash with some sells and now sit on a lot of cash for the moment. I also have a FTSE 100 short on. It keeps stalling in the 7500s, every time so seems a reasonable idea. I guess I would take a loss on it if it went into the 7600s.
Thanks to a lower oil price and poor retail data the market as a whole is suffering today. Always
hard to know what to do but there is nothing wrong with banking part profits,
Ok then, onto some buys and sells, starting with the buys. Given the summer lull on the way buying is limited for the moment and only buying things I really think have good potential.
Everyman Cinema (EMAN) came up at the last seminar and is an interesting one.
"Posh" cinema going is on the up and this company specialises in lovely cinemas with great seats and service.
This is what people now want and so are prepared to pay more for their seats. My reason for buying is first of all decent fundamentals with rising profits, good director buying and also I wonder about this chain getting bid for?
I think I would try and pick this up if say, I owned Cineworld.
Anyway I have picked up some shares in EMAN, bought a few late yesterday and a few this morning.
They have come back a bit so I've bought while the shares seem a touch weak which looks like profit taking. In a downturn, strangely, people still treat themselves to the movies.
One of my faves, Iomart (IOM) went up through a previous 300p barrier so I bought in more. Then results came out this week which were excellent. A rare profit maker in its sector I really am in for a possible bid. It has been bid for before and no reason why this shouldn't happen again, this time hopeful of a more realistic 400-450.
I bought some Oxford Metrics (OMG). Interesting company that produces software for government, life sciences, entertainment... a wide range. Interim results recently were decent and it has a very decent cash pile which I always like.
Sales pipeline looks strong so I think these shares could rise nicely. If not, at least I can jump up and down shouting "OMG!"
I picked up a few more APH (Alliance Pharma) "" it said its key brands are going well and it expects commercial sales of a promising drug to combat sickness in pregnancy to take off soon,
I've shorted a few shares in the retail/hospitalility area as with the minimum wage up, less spending going on they are all vulnerable. Also data looks pretty poor in that area.
So as well as shorting retailers as a whole on a spreadbet, I shorted (for newcomers this means trying to make money from betting on a share price to go down) Conviviality (CVR) and Patisserie (CAKE).
Both are decent companies but their share prices have soared - but too much given likely headwinds. Others in similar areas have started to warn on profits. CVR's retail outlets could suffer and it also has quite a big debt.

Cake could suffer from minimum wage rises, less consumer spend and soaring costs of ingredients - the butter price is currently skyrocketing. And frankly I have gone off cake. I am eating more twixes instead. I think both could go down some more.
As I said above I topsliced (sold part of some holdings). Frankly too lazy/difficult to go through all, but here are the lowlights.
I topsliced a bit of SFE as I had a lot, banking a profit of £693, and a topslice at upsg banking £1301.. I lobbed out one or two that were just stuck in a rut: Euro, alu and Lpa so banked small gains of £178 and £136 and £125. About to buy lpa back I think. The other two could become buybacks perhaps later this summer.
Banked a little bit of Yu, that's a profit of £860. ITV kept sinking so sold for a profit of £1,196 "" and a 10p dividend per share during the holding period.
I took part profits on Cnc bagging £1,316 while keeping the rest. Profit of £1,125 on sag - that one stormed up.
Bur was topsliced for a profit of £3,375. Purp doubled and more and so automatically topsliced for profit of £3,555. Then it began to tank so sold sadly 40 points lower for a profit of £3,996. Although could have banked a lot more pleased as it was high risk. Would consider another go at it on weakness but it has to be bought at the right time given massive volatility in it.
Total profits banked for the website are £17,856
That's a lot of cash raised and expect to sit on that "" it's firepower should the market have a major selloff over the summer. Together with some shorts I'm almost ready for the beach"¦.
Summertime can be a hard time in the market with lots of volatility so always worth banking some profits and keeping a wad of cash free. Then come back in September all refreshed. Also if you have some cash you can relax a bit more "" that is a lot harder if you are "all in".

** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

If you like to trade the FTSE, Dow, or currencies then Spreado has an outstanding tight 0.8 spread - that is incredibly tight. The platform is very good and robust and have used it to great satisfaction and profits.
You can sign up at this link which includes a decent market commentary:

I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are. Read Spreadbetting chapter in naked trader 4 which highlights the risks.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
