Look forwards to meeting some of you readers for the seminar on april 20th -thanks a lot to those of you who filled up my questionaires, really helps me to know what to include in the event....
See you there from 10am, a few more details below, any worries let me know....
Well certainly a very different holiday - we are just back from the skiing trip to Switzerland... a very unique week indeed!
We rarely do package trips preferring the excitement of things going wrong to being herded about but it was essential for this one.
It was a very long journey to our destination, Arosa.
Plane to Zurich, a near two hour coach ride, then an hour train trip up the mountain!
The train part was great though, getting higher and higher up the peaceful mountain and the appears and then deepens.
I'm not a great skiier so I spent a lot of time in cafes while Mrs NT and Christopher did the skiiing! See the last update for details of previous epic fails at skiing by me...
On the first day I could see Mrs NT fall right over and being rescued by the instructor. Meanwhile Christopher was already bombing his way down a mountain! Ah, how wonderful to be a fearless ten-year-old.
Mrs ended up having an amazing week. It's quite scary learning to ski and she really conquered her fears and by the end of the week was confidently skiing! Though a week was more than enough.
By the end Christopher was head down going really fast and got some nice comments from his instructor.
I enjoyed a bit of hiking heading up in the gondala and then down through the mountain which was lovely.
Imagine, amazing air, no internet or I phones. Just you and nature.
The hotel was a stunner!! I can't think of a hotel that doesn't have some negatives.
I can't think one negative for this one. Just amazing service - not servile. Brilliant service with a sense of humour and genuinely friendly.
Not like American hotels were they are "friendly" only because they are waiting for the next tip.
Lovely food and a fantastic ambience, brilliant kids room with table tennis and loads of other games. Even a bowling alley. And a magnificent pool, and spa area.
The rooms are sensational. Right by the mountain - with its own ski boot room. The kids are looked after brilliantly.
So step up for my award for the best hotel ever:
The
Arosa Kulm hotel and Alpin Spa.....Well done!!
I can't imagine how anyone could give it less than 5 stars. When you are so used to rubbish service from horrible hotels this is such a breath of fresh alpine air. Oh and a free minibar, help yourself as much as you like!
The other beauty of the area is, no crime! We never bothered locking our hotel door after day one, no need. Lost something? Returned to you. You could stick a wallet in the street with £500 in it and bet you it would be handed in.
We met some lovely people in our group including two boys who loved Christopher - guess what, playdate already arranged with them next week!
So we've come back feeling very refreshed though Mrs NT has some sprains and bruises and a painful back after her week on the mountain.
Christopher is already desperate to go back but next year he has a skiiing trip with his school.
I would certainly go back just for the hotel and the ambience... maybe next year!
I've now finished my training with the Silver Line charity and shortly will be "going live" chatting to older lonely folk desperate for a chat.
I'm waiting to get matched up and hope it's a rewarding experience for all parties. The main thing that comes out of training is never judge anyone. Whatever their perceived faults.
Can't wait to see some of you week after next on April 20th for the seminar.. hopefully there will be lots of interesting things happening live.
Should be lots of good food, drinks, snacks and chocs all day long and you never know the odd profitable trade or three....
Doors open from 9.30am and I'll be starting about 10am - please just register your mail address with Elizabeth first, tea and coffee is on tap all day!
If you'd like to spend a day with me and live markets the next seminar is in June - June 8th.
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "June seminar interested".
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Spreadbetting firm Capital Spreads offers a great book on how to spreadbet for readers via this link http://www.capitalspreads.com/ntrader
Its spreads are surprisingly tight and interestingly an automated stop loss is applied to each trade - so beginners know what their max loss is from the outset. A super site for beginners.
I use IG Index for betting on the very small companies, the only spreadbet firm I can find that does the smaller ones making it possible to trade AIM cos tax free.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on June 8th
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "april seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling
I was discussing this with a few people on holiday and the general agreement was the current crop of politicans are so poor.
The "debates" are so childish and that includes the silly vain Jeremy Paxman. and Ed Milliband now claiming he is some kind of real go getter is hilarious.
We all know he is far happier sitting at home reading Das Kapital. Must be awful for him having to talk to real people outside his cosy Hamstead set.
We can only hope Labour and the Scot nats don't get in charge. I really fear for the future if they do.
Just take a look at France which is a current basket case. That's the road we'd be going down.
And if you are a fan of the "mansion tax" beware. Once new taxes come in guess what happens? More and more get dragged into it...
I think Sky News is missing a trick. How about running a separate Sky News minus politics?
All the news as usual but nothing at all about the election, all politicians banned from appearing. That gets my vote.
My award for the most idiotic scaremongering headline goes to today's Daily Mail for "Was plane crashed by hacker and not co-pilot?"
No is the answer and this story should have been binned. Watch out for the new fitness fad that could ruin your health called: "Planking". If you are going to ruin your health anyway can I suggest "Twixing"? Get a giant Twix bar, lie on the sofa and relax, you may even live longer.
Paul Whitehouse is such a brilliant performer and his series "Nurse" was excellent.
His portrayal of the slightly mental cases visited by nurse was spot on.
What I found interesting that people with problems often have an "enabler" - and in the series each one did. Such as the overeating lad, enabled by his mum. I guess it is the same with any habit/addiction, someone always enables the sufferer.
Wow, Better Call Saul had a dark ending. (Spoilers ahead!!)
The twist that it was his brother all along that denied him the office at the law firm was very strong and believable.
And we can now see why Jimmy decides to descend into the dark side. Given going straight has proved so hard and heartbreaking.. why not?
The finale was perhaps a touch long-winded but we can now see how "good Jimmy" is about to transform into "Bad Saul".
House of Cards continues to be rivetting, and again, we are taking it easy with just the one episode a week.
"Three in a Bed" is my guilty pleasure - bed and breakfast owners visit each other to criticise.
The pettiness, the bitching, the back stabbing, the jealousy it's all there and very watchable! It reminds me how grateful I am I don't have a proper job.
It's the Grand National this weekend - haven't bet yet, will wait till the day in case of non runners and another look but I like horses that can stay the distance.
So runners that should stay and could make the top 6 are Rocky Creek, Balthazar King, Alvarado, Godesmejudge and Alco. Shutthefrontdoor could go well but will be all the rage and might be a short price.
Spreadbets work out well as you get 100 points for the winner and good pointage down to the one that comes 6th.
The Eurovision Song Contest comes up soon too and I make money every year on the spreads. Just buy the top 4 in the betting, amazingly the hot favourites nearly always win it or take the top 4 places. Easy money usually! Lady with a beard the hot fave last year won me a fortune.
Good place for spreadbets for both events is here...
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader/sports
Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!
Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!
This compares to £473 direct from advfn inc vat so this deal saves you over a whopping £120! ADVFN level 2 also includes all the live trades made through Plus Markets which I find invaluable.
To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!
More on level 2 in my book and I spend hours on it at my seminars. So if you get level 2 and want to learn how to use it properly live, book my seminar!
ADVFN Bronze Offer
To take up the offer, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with Bronze in the subject line and I will tell you how to claim the deal.
Bronze is included inside the level 2 deal.
Advfn Silver Exclusive Offer
The deal is via me you can save nearly £30 for your first year by paying just £145 inc vat via me instead of £173.71
Just mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com if you'd like this deal with "silver" in the subject line.

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Well, goodness me, plenty of activity in my shares since I last updated, most of which is good news!
First to Optimal Payments which basically has joined up with another company to make it a much bigger player!
This actually happened on the day of the follow up seminar and at 2pm my spreadbet account leapt live by 15k just like that - as I have rather
a lot of Opay!
There's a rights issue and I intend to take up the rights in my isa and spreadbets (SB firms will adjust for the rights usually).
It could mean on rights ex date next week that the shares will look like they have fallen but it's not really the case as we are being allocated a load of new shares at just 166p.
It looks a great move from Opay and it seems sensible to take a bigger stake and then hold on
Further upside should come from a listing on the main market followed by inclusion in the FTSE 250 possibly this September.
One I have been holding for a long time, Accumuli was bid for - a disappointing price though, roughly around 31p in shares from the takeover company and some cash.
I'm not quite sure whether to bail or to hold on, may hold on, for website purposes though I'll close at 31p to make life easier for me which banks a final profit for the site on this one of £4,500.
Valuing property companies isn't my thing but Telford Homes (TEF) catches the eye.
It's building homes in just the right places around London and particularly it will benefit from the crossrail effect.
It has a fantastic portfolio and even better a very healthy order book. Statements are very bullish indeed.
So this looks like a fabulous isa tuckaway and a potential doubler from here given plenty of time and patience.
Tungsten (TUNG) has more than halved recently and so it seems a good time to pick some up. Hard to value for sure, but could end up at least another pound higher.
It's been winning a lot of contracts and there have been several announcements. An attack by shorters probably means the price went down by much more than it should and so presuming they are done, more upside awaits.
I'd raised the stop on tep to just about breakeven and that was hit. Frankly I was blithely expecting another easy quick profit here, goes to show you should never be smug and the market can make a monkey of you very easily.
Bizarrely to me, the share price went below 9 quid, couldn't resist that and snapped some up. Tep looks very cheap under a tenner which gives a massive dividend - perhaps it is just that utilities are not in favour. Once results are out I would expect a big re-rating higher again. My guess is anyone buying under a tenner will have a big smile sometime this year.
London Capital (LCG) slid a lot, way too low I thought and bought again though this is my last go! Since then a director has also bought quite a few.
With a lot of cash it isn't going bust and there is still a chance new management could turn it around.
I've got a long-term holding in IPGroup (IPO) and I bought a new lot of shares, - 3,000 in an offer at 225 last week.
This is despite already trebling my money on them having bought them at 72p so now up over £10,000.
A lot of institutions seemed happy to buy these at 225p and I think we have the same idea, hang on for more rewards to come.
Gulf Marine Services put out a decent statement, I did sell half my holding they day before just in case getting 130.06 to bank a profit of £374 . Then yesterday the price came back all of a sudden so I picked up a new lot yesterday at 116.2. Still potential for a re-rating back to 150 area.
Newish buy Imimobile reported last week and it was a very strong report, pushing the price higher,
Scysis also reported - a nice statement except that currency headwinds are holding back profits. However it looks mighty cheap still so I am going to continue to hold. It also reported a new contract win worth £6m with the BBC. Patience should pay off here in the long run. The shares are up nicely today.
Iomart put out a strong statement. The beauty of it is that Iomart shares aren't worth much less than they are now, so one can hold happily. What we are waiting for is another bid to come in, I suspect next time 300p will be enough.
It's one of those shares to put away, forget about and then one morning when you least expect it a bid announcement appears and you've gained 40% overnight. I'm waiting patiently....
Carclo put out a statement today - the market has responded well - all its divisions appear to be performing nicely and there is potentially more upside here. The lovely GB Group put out a great statement with profits ahead of expectations - it rose nicely this week after that and looks like a bid target.
Spire continues to boom up giving me a tremendous profit looking for it to hit 400p soon.
Recent buy Dialight has really lit up with a massive rise. .
Good old Dignity continues well and shouldn't be long before it hits 2000. reported. Already doubled on these and over the years no surprise if it doubled again, there's a lot of money in death!
Quartix seems to be on a nice run higher and went up a few pence yesterday, shame the spread is a bit wide. GVC went ex dividend today which is why it is down a bit but some nice cash soon to arrive from that!
Shoe Zone has gone nicely higher and hope for an uplift to 300p soon. Caretech has flown up and gone past the 240 mark now.
Energy Assets looks like it may get a re-rating up 32 Red continues its strong run up. Elsewhere Sprue Aegis hangs onto gains. Keeps rising - it seems to stay put for a while then put on 15p which is fine by me!
New Issue John Laing is now doing the business and this week has gained very well, a few sellers around at 212 but if that clears 230 beckons.
Pets At Home is still doing well and I was looking for 250 - now it is up above 260 getting even greedier and wondering about 275! Those of you who came to the seminar saw the real giant spreadbets I have in it where I am up more than £15,000.
Entertainment One has had a great week, trying to stay above 320 - a beautiful long-term winner.
I still have the spreadbet in British Airways or consolidated something or other whatever they're called now and see I am more than 2 grand up. I only bought them as a short-term play on the ebola fears being overdone but as they seem strong I might as well turn it into a longer-term thing!
** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

TIGHTEST SPREAD FOR TRADING THE FTSE/DOW ETC
If you're into trading indices this one is the cheapest with just a 0.8 spread which is fantastic - execution is top too
http://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader/
If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
