Our son's bedroom is in the process of a makeover now he's left home to make his fortune in Dubai.
The last of the Fulham FC on tour stickers have been scraped off along with something bad about Brentford fans.
Looking at the new room from Dubai on video he doesn't seem to mind, and we kept all his football trophies and stuff in a box. And like Toy Story 4, all the toys have gone.
Although we're not parents that feel tearful about it.
Your kids have to move on. We've done the parenting now it's time to partyyyyyyy!

It's being turned into a "guest room". Which involves a lot of effort, though not from me of course.
After all, I have important trading to do, right?
And anyway I'm terrible at real work. Not that I ever tried it.
But I have just finished experiencing the week from hell.
"Working from home" when you have real workers rather than "chancers" like me is tricky.
We had painters, carpet cleaners, glaziers, fitters, you name it they were all here.
They all have super skills which I could never master due to my poor attention span and general clumsiness. And I can't be arsed to learn either.
I would like to be able to paint but the art teacher at school commented "Robbie is the most backward pupil I have ever taught." Totally fair comment.
I tried hard not to be resentful or jealous about the vast invoices I had to pay for their services.
The last day was frantic and built to a climax with our cleaner getting upset that the painters had used "her" (it's ours) Henry vacuum cleaner without changing the bag.
"You have ruined my Henry!" she shouted up the stairs. "Do you not know how to treat them?"
"They need to be looked after!" she added.
(I suspect she was in a bad mood after the state I'd left the kitchen in after an attempt to cook).
"I didn't realise it was YOUR vacuum cleaner!" one of the painters shouted spiritedly down the stairs. (Yeah good for him!)
Being a coward and not great at confrontations, I hid and pretended this wasn't happening.
The argument settled down though the cleaner did bang the vacuum around quite noisily.
There was a buzz of irritation around the house. Painters annoyed at cleaners. Carpet cleaner annoyed he couldn't get the cat sick off the carpet.
Glaziers annoyed they only got offered a tea or coffee once. (If you offer it more than once you'll end up doing it all day)
Cats annoyed there were so many wanky humans knocking about making noises.
To get out of all the angst I did spend quite a lot of time at the local grumpy French cafe till he threw me out.
But then I discovered Brasserie Blanc's very nice lunch set menu at under £20.
If you go for the set lunch, have the chicken ballotine. Fantastique! I left them a nice review.
Over 2 weeks we had different real work people,( look workmen, they were all blokes alright) working in the room and you never know what kind of music they will be playing.
Whoever you hire there will always be music and it's always loud and you don't feel you can ask them to turn it off as you don't want to upset them.
I nearly did the "Neighbours have complained" but chickened out knowing they knew it was me really.
The first lot were my favourite, there was some decent house and dance music which I enjoyed. Especially DOD.
And they supported Fulham FC so we could discuss fascinating topics like "Raul or Muniz to start"? "Should we sell Robinson?" I am top notch at footie chit chat.
The second lot had "Greatest Hits Radio" on which meant the same 5 old hits repeated every hour which seemed to be mostly The Police, Blondie, Stevie Wonder and the Carpenters.
The same tracks endlessly. I groaned at "Total Eclipse of the heart" as I know Bonnie Tyler whines like mad for nearly 6 minutes.
Between those 5 songs "Ken Bruce" does a pop quiz.
An amazing man who can talk drivel seemingly for hours.
"Question one then Phillip.
Who had a hit with "Video Killed The Radio Star?"
"That'll be Buggles, Ken."
"Right you are, 3 points for you."
"Who sang about a total eclipse of the heart?"
"One of my favourites, Ken. Bonnie Tyler".
"Well done Phillip. Six points!"
Why isn't it just one point? No idea.
"Tell me about the family"¦"
No, please don't actually.
"Any hobbies now you're retired?" is another line.
"I do like pottering around the garden Ken."
What's worse is he allows "Shoutouts".
This is a minute when the contestants can name all their friends.
"Hi to mum and Brenda, everyone at the Dog and Feathers, my cat Nipple, dog Romeo"¦."
We're not interested. Please make it stop. It did eventually until"¦.
The third visitors were the worst.
Started off with some country music which was bearable and then there was a very promising Jump Around from House of Pain which is decent all right.
But it didn't last.
Before long it was "Barbie Girl."
Then Andy Williams. Followed by Robbie Williams ballads.
I was vaguely tempted to say "You are two grown men playing Barbie Girl and Robbie Williams, what went wrong?"
But of course I didn't. Sometimes I wish I had more courage.
On Friday, everyone left. Oh the joy! We celebrated, the cats celebrated, the neighbours celebrated.
"And now here's Kool and The Gang and Celebration," said Ken.
"In a moment Pat will be doing a shoutout to all his friends"¦"

Naked Rambling
Well, well. The Swedish government has changed tack on cash.
After ensuring its people stopped using it, the Central Bank has now urged its people to have a week's worth of spending money in cash.
It also strongly advises its people to start using it again and retailers should handle it.
It is fairly obvious why you should have some cash under the bed.
No doubt Putin and his pals are already working on cutting underground cables and how to sabotage us using electronic payments.
They know cutting off our ability to pay for even a couple of days would screw us.
Sweden suggests £500. I suggest at least 2k!
It really also is time cash must be accepted for up to £100.
Some suggest cutting the number of MPs by a half and doubling salaries.
Sounds reasonable as long as they're not allowed to take any other jobs.
Problem is a lot of the new breed of politicians have never done a real day's work.
They've gone from university into politics which just isn't real.
They never had to deal with staff, or customers or tax returns or vat.
Don't be allowed in parliament till you've worked for 10 years in business.
Freebies. That has got to be IT for freebies for politicians.

Same with football for Lord Kier. And all the rest.
How's about a total ban on freebies? No more. Just stop being greedy.
Adolescence ***** Netflix
Superb mini series with Stephen Graham which has won many accolades.
A young teen murders a girl, we see the repercussions and the reasons he did it.
It has deserved unanimous praise with a brilliant script and superb acting, with episode three the standout.
The last episode is a tad disappointing but overall a must view for parents and teens.
Boo and down with Andrew Tate.
The White Lotus ****
The stakes are being upped as the series bubbles up and conclusions will soon be reached.
The incest theme which has been slowly bubbling away has risen to the surface.
The real question is: who is going to kill who with that gun that's floating about?
Protection ** ITV
Promising premise featuring the work of police who look after protected witnesses.
It was billed like a Line of Duty but is nowhere near that standard.
After a promising start it descends into cliche after cliche.
We even get the biggest cliche of all, the dying cop saying "Trust no one!".
It gradually gets worse, I suggest give this a swerve.
Severance ***** Apple
Super finale for this very superior sci fi.
If you've not seen it, have a binge of both series.
This is Ben Stiller's pet project and he really pulled it off.
Plenty of life themes here, probably enough for a PHD.
This City is Ours **** BBC1
Sean Bean plays the UK version of Tony Soprano as the boss of a Liverpool crime family.
Well it's not really in Soprano league but that league but still, there is plenty of family dynamics away from the violence (there is actually very little so far).
It's a decent crime thriller with some added witty humour from time to time. Worth the view.
Book Review ****
He had to deal with messages like this from an MP;
"I'm stuck in a brothel, run out of money.
I think she might be a KBG agent and wants £500".
Find out how he deals with that!
There are fights, big egos and massive sex scandals.
It's like The Thick of It, and worse but actually true.
Read open-mouthed at the actions of some of the MPs.
Sunak comes over as a nice guy in over his head surrounded by toss pots.

Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Well, not much to say about Rachel from account's statement.
It was all flagged. I think we can say what it does is the groundwork for likely tax rises in the Budget.
It was weird though: if the tories had made all these spending cuts there'd have been outrage.
And did you see Lord Keir touch her on the shoulder for ages? Ugh, patronising!
The statement won't make that much difference to markets as we knew about everything already.
It's Donald from the US that makes the difference and he is ramping up the tariff wars.
This makes for more uncertainty.
However, away from this smaller UK stocks look great value and I'm happy to buy while selling indices as a hedge.
A few interesting trade ideas came up at the seminar.
Many seemed to come up from my dash for cash screen on Sharescope.
With uncertainty in the market if you're buying companies with net cash there is less likelihood of big falls.
First off was Wilmington which I bought live on the day, getting the sell price, saving a few pence on the trade and starting the trade at break even using DMA.
I put the order in and it went through in a couple of hours.
Net cash is over £30m.
Profits were down but because of a one off, revenues are up 16pc and adjusted profit up 39pc.
It describes itself as provider of data, information, education and training services in the global Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) markets
It's in the process of changing from lower profit margin activities to higher margin ones
There are hints it will spend some of its cash on acquisitions and has started a buyback so that should give the shares a nice bottom at 350p.
First target is around 420p where it struggles to get beyond.
My Dash for cash screen also highlighted Morgan Sindall, a share I took profits on earlier this year.
On the day I realised the shares had actually fallen quite a bit since I sold and now looked rather attractive again. So I bought some live.
It's considered one of the top companies in the construction sector.
Main reason for the drop is cited as the subdued housing market.
Its statement this week was very much liked by the market and it looks like there are further rises to come, especially with the new government spending on construction.
TP Icap also came up at the seminar.
A low pe, peg and a fabulous dividend part of the attractions.
The algos also like this - the company has a big cash pile and has launched a new £30m share buyback.
It's hoping to list its Parameta Solutions in the US in Q2 pretty soon, if it can succeed that's a big bonus.
Shares have been in a tight trading range but look right now as if they are about to break out.
Also holding big cash pile are spread betting outfits IG and CMC Markets and we had a good look at those.
Both should benefit from current trading volatility, the more trades they get the bigger the profits.
Both also pay nice dividends.
A close call but I went for IG on the basis that it is just a bit safer being a much bigger company.
Also on the dash for cash screen was Oxford Metrics.
This company has had big cash for some time but doesn't seem to know what to do with it!
But after falling by more than a half the shares do look rather tempting given a big proportion of the market cap is in cash.
Surely it can't be too long before we see some deployment.
Its main sensor market is doing ok so I struggle to see how it can go much lower.
I shorted Diageo the drinks giant (for newbies spreadbet short to make money from downside).
And I've added a bit more FTSE short as a spreadbet and in the ETF for the isa.

I've sold Good Energy for just over 285p - the bid was at 290p so no point having to wait for a month for just the 5p extra.
That banks a lovely profit of just under £10,000 for the website and over £150k for me personally.
Defence shares are still rising off the back of more government spending on it.
So a very good market for BAE Systems, Cohort, Qinetic and MS International.
MSI seems to be the lagger as a smaller company, a nice contract win for these shares could see them way higher.

It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.

Spreadbetting
Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.
Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.
I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time.
