MY NEW PSYCHOLOGY BOOK "TRADE LIKE A SHARK" IS JUST OUT!!! DISCOUNT OFFER:
My brand new book on trading psychology is out! Available now for next day delivery.
Though it says it isn't out till Sept 26th that's because we don't want amazon to have it for a bit! If you order it here you will get it fast.
I read books on psychology in the past and liked bits of them but felt there was something missing. They either got too technical or went on too much making me bored and I realised no-one had talked to those who had lost a lot of money.
I very much enjoyed writing it "" indeed bizarrely I learned a lot about trading psychology from writing it and via all the traders/investors I've talked to, had emails chats with over the years. Thanks to all of you who contributed real stories.
The book covers things that can go wrong, how to fix them. How to stop bad habits, gambling, trading with a clear head. How not to panic, managing trades, trading in a down market.
Also how to tackle the 8 deadly emotions, figuring out what sort of trader you are... tackling fear, greed, ego, danger zones and traps.
Everything really comes from hundreds of traders I've met or had conversations with - whether a beginner or advanced.

Thanks for your kind comments on my new book "trade like a shark." A lot of you say you see yourselves in some of the characters depicted and real people who made mistakes.
My publisher hates me though: they want to do publicity on it and I can't be bothered to travel. But come on! Bloomberg wanted me to come in at 7.15 in the morning! That means getting up at 5am, travelling right across London in the rush hour.
Tea and toast comes first for me. I think my publisher wishes I was a Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay and say yes to everything. I promised to do phone interviews though and did one with a fun guy in the states. Not that anyone will hear it in the Uk!
I look forwards to meeting some of you on Sept 19th for the sold out seminar. Apologies to those of you who were trying to book and had to turn you down. But there is an extra date now, Oct 7th mail me for details on that one instead. More details about the site.
We get going around 10am, should finish 7pm but often it's hard to stop me so it could carry on later than that. Remember a fab lunch, drinks, snacks all included so all you need to do it bring yourself. I hope you all enjoy it and we even might find a nice trade or two along the way and we will trade live from my own isa and SB accounts. See you there!
What the hell? How did summer go by so fast? Yesterday I was in Spain relaxing. Indeed yesterday in Spain one reader got a shock.
We were coming back from the beach, walking along the pool when the Mrs saw someone. "Hey, look he is reading Naked Trader!" she said. We laughed, what are the odds of that.
So we walked up to him. "Are you enjoying my book?" I asked. I think he thought it was a wind up at first. There you are sitting on holiday and the author of the book you're reading comes up...
Anyway we had a great chat, he was there with his wife, friends and some small kids. He took a few pix. So hi to Joel and maybe see you there next year!
Back here today all of a sudden school started, my email is stuffed with mails I have to reply to, got to write this update, open post, the list is endless. Still,it was all worth it because we had such a fun summer.
Now I do understand, someone you don't really know rambling on about their amazing holiday isn't exactly fun but I am going to do it anyway so boo sucks.
So the next bit will be like all those annoying Facebook pages where your friends all look amazing on their pix, have just had the best time ever, have never had a row with their partner, nothing ever goes wrong and you should be really jealous of their lives indeed just be grateful you are lucky enough to be friends with them...
Oh well I did have a good time though. Italy was first holiday visit. Walking in the Dolomites.. sure, that sounds cool except when the three of us were sitting in the hire car with altitude and car sickness it wasn't quite all that.
Worse, we were still miles from our hotel. Indeed if it wasn't for some kind Italian showing us how to get out of a small town by driving in front of us we'd still be there.
Some of it was good though. Hiking around was great. Just the mountain air.. and... er.. lots of others also hiking. Highlight was probably a BBQ on the mountain laid on by the hotel where we mixed with some lovely Germans and Italians. Lowlight?
Yes, I can do a lowlight given this isn't a Facebook page where everything is always wonderful...
On the way down the mountain feeling sick as dogs again decided we should have something to eat and spotted a pizza place. So we stopped. obviously family run which is one of the great things about rural Italy. Not so many chains.
However you could see why this particular family looked a bit down and out. The owner said we could have a pizza but we'd have to wait two hours as he didn't offer them till 4pm (eh?) .
We could, however, have a tuna sandwich (made yesterday by the look of it) and a pack of crisps. We found this with a lot of places down the mountain. On the surface looking nice but underneath a bit depressed and Mr and Mrs owners rowing with each other.
Had the best time in Spain. It's more fun to write about stuff that goes wrong but it all went right. MY 11-year-old had the best time ever running round with a gang of four young friends including a lovely boy from Huddersfield.
What we really like about the place we went which is basically a timeshare resort which we "rent" rather than get the timeshare is that it's all ages, all types of people.
Maybe you know what I mean about that: there are some let's say "Mid class" resorts where it's all stressed out bankers and alpha tiger mums and parents.
Generally they're mean spirited and look at you like you're something the cat dragged in through the catflap. At this resort everyone mucks in, all are warm and friendly and we have a great time.
Highlight probably was karaoke night where my young son and his mate decided to do the Kent Jones song "Don't Mind" that we've all been singing all summer.
Trouble is the karaoke host and none of us knew there is a different version of the song and so (and it wasn't their fault) they sang a "bad swearword" which came up on the screen. Rhymes with bucking. Not their fault.
This was unexpectedly broadcast to the whole resort but did lead to much hilarity, best of all the look on the host's face when he saw the word come up on screen but too late to do anything about it. We have it all recorded, could be a youtube sensation...
Anyway it was a brilliant summer that lasted forever though as they say all good things must come to an end and getting back to routine is tough.
. I went back for another session of cameras down the throat to check my stomach polyp. It's when the consultant afterwards says "There is nothing to worry about" it means the exact opposite usually. And it did. More next time.
One of the theatres my sister owns, The Palace, has the new Harry Potter production and we got invited to the opening day/night.
Lucky us: I know it is very hard to get tickets but it is great for my sister given it is likely to run for many years! It was weird being "on the red carpet" given we weren't celebrities but fun to see how it all works.
It is two shows, so the first was at 2pm and the second at 7pm. In between the shows all of us were treated to dinner at a nearby restaurant and then afterwards there was a massive party, must have been 800 there!
We were taken from the theatre in a bunch of red buses. Just an amazing occasion. The party was stunning, food from around the world, DJ, and an incredible atmosphere. I've not read Potter or seen much of the movies but actually you didn't need to to watch the play or make sense of it.
Some stunning magic tricks. I thought about asking my sister how they do it but but decided why spoil the magic? So even though it's nearly 5 hours worth of show it is so entertaining you don't notice.
If you can get tickets, do go. But don't buy from touts, if you do they won't let you in. Quite right too, it's inflated some ticket prices to over a grand which is so wrong. The theatre is trying to drive the touts away and with some success.
Seminar news: Extra date: Oct 7th (Sep 19th is sold out)
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Oct seminar interested" in the subject line.
There is a decent early bird discount but be aware the sept one sold out a month early and this one could sell out too so don't leave it too late to book it.
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Oct 7th 2016 NEAR HEATHROW
Sep 19th is sold out
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the extra date Naked Trader seminar on Oct 7th
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a substantial early bird discount on offer. Mail me for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Oct seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Got to say: isn't it great to have a woman in charge again?
Let's face it: male leaders end up in the bar getting hammered on cheap booze subsidised by us, spend most of their time on bitchy gossip and generally don't get on with it.
Mrs May will be focussed on the job the whole time. That's what we need. I think I'm a fan.
I might have to ask the Mrs to say "Brexit means Brexit". Every time Mrs May says it I feel hot and bothered. Can I call you Theresa?
I see slimeball MP Keith Vaz pretended to be a washing machine salesmen during his encounter with the rentboys.
No doubt about it : yet another brilliant piece of spin...
Apparently older men now shouldn't have sex as it gives us more chance of dying early.
Hmmm.. I think I will carry on. Sex now or no sex and an extra three years in a home going ga ga in front of Cash In The Attic?
As usual I watched zero TV away abroad on hols.
However, just catching up with Mr Robot which is tremendous and The Girlfriend Experience on Amazon Prime. Both recommended!
Just catching up with "Fleabag". It's just a tad too overreliant on knob jokes but looks promising though not in the league of Catastrophe based on the first episode.
Peter Jones in Dragons Den now has the appearance of a crotchety old git. He won't bid for anything and now he is so rich and powerful one feels both the contestants and the other dragons are way below his superiority. He knows everything about everything. So he thinks.
Good place for spreadbets and fixed odds for sport is here...

Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.

genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall

Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Just a reminder for those of you who don't read the stuff on my life
above... the sept 19th seminar sold out some time ago and sorry to those
I had to turn away.
There is an extra date: Oct 7th. Plus an early bird discount mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com if interested. This one is already selling so maybe don't leave it too late as it could sell out too and I won't be doing another extra date! The Oct 10th advanced follow up goes ahead, that one is getting close to sell out. Mail me for that if you have already come to a seminar.
The markets were one big surprise this summer.
Normally there is a meltdown sometime in August just to piss everyone off who were having a good time on holiday.
"Ha take that. Not having such a good holiday now are you?" says the market as your favourite shares all slide alarmingly.
But the summer of 2016 I vote the best market ever. I really didn't have to lift a finger while having a great time in Spain and Italy - shares just kept going up and up, so much so, without doing a thing I appear to have £150,000 plus more in my accounts than I did when the hols started.
And I know how smug the last sentence seems. But that's how it is. Smug git Burns, fair cop. Down with him and off with his head.
However one thing I do know: whenever you congratulate yourself on how well it is all going it nearly always means it's probably time to bank some profit before it all goes tits up!
Indeed if you ever go to a partner or friend or bulletin board and start boasting about how much you are making then it's probably time to take profits. Nothing the market likes more than kicking you when you think you are God's gift to trading.
The markets are strong at the mo but they can turn just like that so I am a bit wary.
But with interest rates everywhere remaining low, where else is there to put your money but the market given it earns nothing now in the bank. So I have taken hardly any action at all over the summer, just enjoyed the hols and only one or two looks at the laptop every day. However there are one or two bits and pieces to report.
I have very rarely bought airlines. I have no idea how on earth you value them - there is so much to take into account. Oil prices, cost of planes, seat ratios... all too much for my brain to try and sort.
So most of the time I leave them alone. But I did buy more Easyjet (EZJ) - had such great experiences with them. A brilliant food offering and even the coffee was good.
Compared to the now awful British Airways which must be a short. "Complimentary food" they say. That now is .. a bag of crisps! And you can't buy anything! What kind of business model is that?
Let's not even go into the computer glitches causing long queues and people to miss their flights. I think everyone is switching to Easyjet, we certainly have and have no intention travelling BA again till they sort it out.
Cutting costs like this is a disastrous move for BA.
As well as Easyjet I picked up a few Flybe. (FLYB) They have sunk so much they now really do look like some value. However I would consider both to be quite high risk and I only look at both as shorter-term recovery stocks. Would expect to be out of both of them not too far away.
I've bought some Restaurant Group (RTN) which looks pretty cheap now after some massive falls. it runs, frankly some horrible restaurants which I would not like to eat in myself and some of them aren't doing that well.
But it looks pretty good again as a recovery story so I have bought a few crumbs. Possible bid target near lows too. It goes ex dividend next Thursday for nearly 7p.
Yesterday I topped up on Alliance Pharma (APH). A bit risky especially as it announces results next Wednesday and shares often tank of results day even if results are good. It did say in July it didn't see much impact from Brexit so far and revenue was surging with everything in line. Still, it is higher risk as you never know with these types.
Next 15 (NFC) still looks undervalued even after recent rises and I bought some more to make it pretty much my largest shareholding at the moment. Profit forecasts are very good and it still trades very lowly. Lots more to come at least up to 400p in a good market
The Investors Chronicle did a pretty good write up on NFC as a tip last week so have a read of that as I agree with its article.
Proactis (PHD) looks an interesting one, nice fundamentals and further growth looks likely so have bought a few of those. I've bought back into Servelec (SERV) after its falls as it now looks good value. I added some more Osirium (OSI) and a few Microgen (MCGN) - this looks like a nice cash rich company that also seems safe.
Vectura (VEC) had a poor summer but has bounced nicely off the 130 area and I've bought more as I think it will now head back up towards the 170p area where it seems more fairly valued - Shares Mag agrees in a piece this morning. Indeed Vectura's AGM statement this week was very confident - and it says revenue expectations have been raised. This isn't in the price yet.
I added some betting co GVC - it's taken two years for me to double on these but I have now bought some more. Brilliantly well run company this that continues to build in size.
I added also via a spreadbet to Paysafe (PAYS) already doubled but there must be a lot more to come here.
McCarthy easily whizzed past its target though I did sell way too early getting ten points below its high but banked a profit of £1,407. I sold about half of what I had, keeping the rest for now. They recently released a cautious statement and the shares have gone down a little, but they look oversold now. CMC surprised with a warning yesterday so I exited with only a small profit instead ot the much bigger one I did have on paper, for the site a profit of £798. May revisit if market volatility returns.
There have been some big winners over the summer - they include BBOX, Osirium Tech and Photo Me have all climbed nicely.
Quartix is really going for it and at the least could head up another 20% to hit highs. Great statements and management there.
Also some of the more recent purchases have boomed up which include Inland Lookers, Pets, Dignity. Big shout too for Cyprotex which has doubled. Cerillion, Empressaria have both shone. Lookers has motored up.
ETO got a bid which was turned down - looks like at some point someone will make a better bid so it seems a question of just waiting with it. As I said above it is all very well when shares are going up but caution must still be there and I am pretty close to thinking some more profits should be banked quite soon.
GB Group continues to be sensational - now sitting comfortably over 300, a bidder is going to have to pay 400.
I never expect to get out at highs so I don't mind selling a bit off a high, I just never want to lose a complete profit! Be back with more Sep 22nd.
Can I go and open the post now?

** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

If you like to trade the FTSE, Dow, or currencies then Spreado has an outstanding tight 0.8 spread - that is incredibly tight. The platform is very good and robust and have used it to great satisfaction and profits.
You can sign up at this link which includes a decent market commentary:

I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
