MY NEW PSYCHOLOGY BOOK "TRADE LIKE A SHARK" IS JUST OUT!!! DISCOUNT OFFER:
My brand new book on trading psychology is out! Available now for next day delivery.
I read books on psychology in the past and liked bits of them but felt there was something missing. They either got too technical or went on too much making me bored and I realised no-one had talked to those who had lost a lot of money.
I very much enjoyed writing it "" indeed bizarrely I learned a lot about trading psychology from writing it and via all the traders/investors I've talked to, had emails chats with over the years. Thanks to all of you who contributed real stories.
The book covers things that can go wrong, how to fix them. How to stop bad habits, gambling, trading with a clear head. How not to panic, managing trades, trading in a down market.
Also how to tackle the 8 deadly emotions, figuring out what sort of trader you are... tackling fear, greed, ego, danger zones and traps.
Everything really comes from hundreds of traders I've met or had conversations with - whether a beginner or advanced.

Great to see you all at the sold out seminar on Monday. I had a great day and indeed got a few trades and a few to be that I would never have got if I hadn't done it.
You were all a lot of fun too as well as asking great questions and taking part. A quick hi to all of you and enjoyed a drink with some of you afterwards. (Thanks for the g and t!)
Lots of calm influences in the front row (Jab, Rebecca, Mark!) Even the back row was ok (Brendan!) Oh and of course the Blackpool crew...! And Shafiq at the back..
Even Georgie behaved herself when I thought she wouldn't bearing in mind her penchant for a certain type of chocolate.
As many of you mentioned in your feedback the venue did well too with great food and drink all day and the Mr Whippy machine continues to supply us with great ice cream all day not forgetting the toffee sauce. No-one bothered with the fruit sauce, I wonder why?
The feedback has been amazing, thanks. I would love to publish it all but that would make me seem like a big headed smug git. What do you mean I am that already? Oh well, maybe!
Here's a little bit.. Robi wrote: It was well worth the money and made up the cost with my first trades, ps. your wife was nice too..." (Hey, watch it!)
Pat wrote: "You put your heart into teaching and it was fantastic". I'll leave it at that before you start puking up on your laptop or other electronic device....
Anyway know I'll see one or two of you again for the follow up in October.
Looking forwards to seeing those of you coming to the extra date, Oct 7th. Do leave yourselves good time if you are driving in case there are holdups on the M4.
We get going around 10am, should finish 7pm but often it's hard to stop me so it could carry on later than that. Remember a fab lunch, drinks, snacks all included so all you need to do it bring yourself. I hope you all enjoy it and we even might find a nice trade or two along the way and we will trade live from my own isa and SB accounts. See you there!
A new date: Nov 11th - mail me for details
Over the hols I had another session with the cameras down me. Felt sick for three
days afterwards.
The polyp is still there. I was told cancer can start from a polpy. It gives me added risk
and more risk as the years go by.
However, just as likely nothing will happen and I will die without anything developing.
So my choice is ignore it completely. Get the cameras down every year. Or have it cut out with
"Low risk" of something going wrong, internal bleeding etc.
Consultant says it is a grey area and they really don't know. He said if it was him he would
get it done.
I always think never have any surgery unless it is really needed, why mess with the body?
So I really can't decide.I guess I'm leaning towards looking at it again in a year.
There is no history of cancer in the family. Goodness knows. I bet nothing would happen if I did nothing but should I take that risk?
Questions with no answers....! But I do wonder if the medics are too inclined to operate when perhaps there is no need.
It still feels weird being back in the groove, school back etc. But time moves on so fast... my little son can now get the bus back from school on his own, how weird is that?
But he isn't getting a "smartphone" until he is at least 13 or 14. There is a lot of peer pressure. "Oh, Steve and Alex have one." Well, tough luck! No 11-year-old needs a portable computer.
Our son even got pressured into opening an Instagram account behind our backs. Just a day after he did it there were two dodgy looking messages.
We made him delete it. I don't care half his class are doing it - he isn't and I think the parents that allow it are wrong at the vulnerable age of 10-11 years old. There is also a lot of bullying online.
Also our son is sporty and he actually felt relief, we think, when we deleted it.
Yesterday I was a proud parent on the touchline when he scored an amazing free kick to win the game for his school first 11. Worth all those evenings practising in the park...

Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "nOV seminar interested" in the subject line.
There is a decent early bird discount but be aware the sept one sold out a month early and this one could sell out too so don't leave it too late to book it.
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
NEAR HEATHROW
OCTOBER SOLD OUT
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the new date Naked Trader seminar on Nov 11th
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a substantial early bird discount on offer. Mail me for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Oct seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Erm... hang on... oh .. raise taxes to put into NHS.
See, told you. No new ideas. You can raise taxes to 80pc and
put into NNS but it won't make any difference. Go to any a and
e or doctors surgery and it will be mainly time wasters.
It isn't a problem of money it's who is allowed to use it and we are seen as a soft touch. Someone somewhere has to make some difficult decisions as we all live longer.
Jeremy Corbyn's ex wife has done a delicious back stabbing job. She's voted for Owen Smith saying Corbyn hasn't moved on since the 70s ... that must have felt good.
Let's wait for Owen Smith's ex to say he hasn't moved on.... since the 80s.
Those using mobiles - portable computers - while driving are going to be fined six points. This is no deterrent to those addicted to their machines.
My view: anyone caught texting while driving gets their mobile smashed into pieces - tough luck - and banned from driving for three months. That is the only way to get them to stop.
They cause deaths and injuries and ruin other people's life just to send some unimportant message. Portable machine addiction gets worse by the day.
People are starting to live in a virtual world with no real friends.
It's worse in the USA. Driving there is scary - texters veer all over the road. No wonder roads around California are jammed, it's all the accidents caused by texters.
Ok, so I tried Cold Feet that gets such good reviews. Trouble is I'm so used now to the pinpoint sharp US stuff like Mr Robot, Billions, etc that a series about a bunch of UK 50s and their toils in life, well, it just doesn't get me interested. It seems slow and pedestrian. So I suggest instead "The Night Of".
Only seen the first two but it already is excellent. Super drama and beautifully done. Catch up on Sky!
Can you believe The Apprentice is back shortly? I know it isn't really about business. It's about Lord Sir A showing off (remember he was selling stuff out of a barrer when he woz 8) .
And we know they're all losers simply because they applied. No one who is any good would dream of being on it.

I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!

"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.

If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

SEMINAR new DATE
There is a NEW date: Nov 11th Plus an early bird discount mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com if interested.
Strength in certain shares continue and all I know is my accounts continue to rocket up.
As I mentioned last time that always comes with a warning!
There is no doubt the market is more bonkers than a roomful of
Labour politicians. It's rising at the mo because interest rate rises have been pushed back further in the US. Which of course means we continue to be in economic trouble. But the markets love it - just push the trouble further down the road.
A reader wrote to me: "Never heard anything more ridiculous for shorting ftse 100. Don't you agree. September worse month ever traditionally . Nothing has historically changed it. Rising like crazy. Time for a short. Don't you agree."
The thing is, the market is bonkers. It may rise like crazy and unfairly and then do the opposite. It is way better to follow it then guess it.
I have heard from people who've been shorting the FTSE since 1,000 lower and STILL holding onto major losing shorts. They then justify it thinking the trade will come good eventually.
And it might but in the meantime there are a lot of costs. And it stopped you making the money by following the market up. They also justify it by using "technical analysis".
And despite all the jargon words, it still goes against them. Despite when they shorted it the "Indicators" told them to do it! (They can't bring themselves to believe said indicators are a pile of bad word here).
I have had people emailing me shocked their shorts went against them. If you do short the market for goodness sake don't hang on, get out! And with social media etc and copy sites abounding - I warn again about getting involved in groups.
This will only enable you to overtrade as you follow other people's ideas. When their trades inevitably fail you'll be left holding a duffer that you'll never sell.
There is loads on this in my new book Trade Like A Shark.
Still available at a discount by putting NTSHARK in the discount box when you pay. Buy it here: Harriman-house.com/tradelikeashark
Right, onto some trades.
As those who came to the seminar saw from live accounts, I took a few Franchise Brands (FRAN) last Thursday. Despite being much smaller company than I would usually go for I liked the business model. (They operate franchises Chips Away and Ovenclean).
I got 10,000 at 43.9 15,000 at 42.2 and 7,500 at 42.8.
My intention was to stick them away for a year or two and hope the business soared.
Then on Sunday the shares were tipped by the Mail on Sunday pushing them up 25% on Monday during the seminar!
This was an interesting chat! I'd made nearly 5 grand just because of a newspaper tip.. that made it tricky. Should I just sell the lot and bank the loot and say thanks very much MOS? Or just keep as per original plan?
I thought the most sensible thing was to sell some, so I sold 7,500 of them at the seminar banking £915. Since then they have gone up even more so holding onto the rest in case it does become another Dominos Pizzas as suggested by the MOS.
I picked up some Motorpoint (MOTR) at the seminar managing to get a few at the then "sell" price using direct market access and a few at the then buy price separately. Motorpoint looks off the radar and well undervalued at 2 quid.
I rate it at least a 250p stock which is where I am aiming. However it can have a big spread so picking them on DMA at the sell price is better - come along to the seminar on Oct 7th and learn how to do it!
Character (CCT) have had a boring run but I picked up a few more on Tuesday on weakness. It sells toys like Peppa Pig and Teletubbies.
A trading update was fine, the reason for weakness is currency.
But shares should rise now as directors have now bought some more shares and the company has started buying back its own shares as they think it is underpriced so this should feed through to a move back up. Indeed they bought some back yesterday. So with the shares underpinned look a good buy.
*** Next seminar Nov 11th (oct sold out), please mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details.**
I couldn't resist buying more GB Group (GBG) though this really will be my final lot. Up nearly £50,000 on site trades but well over £100,000 personally.
There are 3-4 buys that came up at the seminar but as usual remain patient and waiting for a good price for them.
Two new shorts have come up (betting the share price comes down) - and made good money shorting them both before. Both look overvalued. The AA seems a sound business but it is stuck in a rut and has a massive debt pileover £2.5 billion!
An easy short as it is hitting its year high of 310 - if it goes much through that and breaks up I'll just take a small loss but risk reward is strong as it could head back to the 260-280 level.
The other short is EMIS - again looks like a decent chance of 100 points lower here and again, I'll just quit if it goes much higher - guaranteed stops on both would ensure no chance of getting hit say by a bid.
Patience often pays off in the market and it has paid off big time for me as finally I part company with Powerflute as it got an agreed cash bid at 90p.
Sometimes it is worth hanging on a bit to see if there is a rival bid but I've decided to cash in on my shares which banks a fantastic profit for the website of just under £22,000 - and quite a bit more for me personally as I also had a lot in my pension and in another account too.
I sold the rest of MCS - it simply kept on going down, but that banks a further profit of £696. Since then it has fallen a bit more and begins to look a tempting buyback.
Same comment for Easyjet - negative broker comments kept pushing it down. I really should have banked profits sooner but there we go, I still got a profit of £
434 even though could have got a way better higher price if I hadn't dithered.
Again, though levels look pretty low now and remains tempting.
That's a profit for the site total £23,130
It has been a brilliant couple of weeks.
Shares in the portfolio continue to climb they include BBOX, Osirium Tech, Dignity (ex div today), Cyprotex.
ETO is back on the rise. Yu Group produced impressive figures this week and has bounced up strongly.
Hotel chocolat looks sweet and has been up 20pc last couple of weeks. Only disappointment is Alliance which has come back a bit. It tends to do that and I think patience will pay.
NCC is on a big kick upwards. GVC has risen massively which is great as I topped up a couple of weeks ago as reported here. Quartix has once again risen nicely. Avon Rubber has bounced.

It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

If you like to trade the FTSE, Dow, or currencies then Spreado has an outstanding tight 0.8 spread - that is incredibly tight. The platform is very good and robust and have used it to great satisfaction and profits.
You can sign up at this link which includes a decent market commentary:

I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/237058/opportunity you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click earn with is then sign up now and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
