NAKED TRADER PODCAST 3 !
>
Thanks for all the kind words on the new book Naked Trader 5 and glad you're enjoying it.
This discount code will work for 30pc off on the harriman house site
and that is NT5ROBBIE. Or Amazon has it!
It contains another five years
of learning - I've now been a full-time trader for nearly 20 years!
The audio version is out now! Go to and search
for naked trader. Scroll down and make sure you download
edition 5, the one with me with a blue shirt on!
Incredibly half term is nearly upon us. I've already had enough of
the weather and booked some time in Spain for half-term and
to celebrate my birthday.
So the next update will be after our return, on Nov 7th when we
will be out of the EU. Won't we?
I'm typing this update from my sickbed on a little chrome laptop
with help from a great fat cat who is enjoying me being laid low.
I must have met/been with hundreds of friends/people other people's
friends over the last three weeks.
I knew I was running on empty and when my son arrived home with a
virus, coughing and in bed I thought: "It's just a matter of time before
I get that."
Now I have, looks like one of those two weekers. Hmmm..oh
here we go, the rasping cough bit next...
I was going to cancel the follow up seminar on Monday but I knew people
had booked flights the hotel and all so Elizabeth drove me there and back.
Got through it somehow by sleeping in the breaks.
In the end despite my weakness it produced lots of nice trades/trades to be
and I even enjoyed parts of it where I perked up. Thanks for putting
up with the cough but I knew all of you from times past so that made
it easier. Vikesh thanks for looking after Henry!
Well done to Fiona and Johann for winning the best trade
ideas of the day competition. And thank you all for the various very
interesting contributions. Just sorted out the next follow up date
that will be Dec 9th including of course a look at poss Xmas rally!
Mail me if interested with "follow up" in subject line, this one usually
gets sold out so don't leave it too late especially if you are a Dec regular!
I remember lying in the room in the lunch period fast asleep. I woke up
thinking I'd slept for two hours and everyone was waiting downstairs.
Luckily it was my Spanish watch and it was an hour ahead!
Glad you enjoyed the brand new morning snack idea, the full english
in a croissant!
Sorry I couldn't make it to the bar after as usual but thanks to Rob who I gave
a wad of cash to for looking after the bar. Elizabeth drove me home and I
crashed out, happy at least I did it, and so many nice ideas surfaced.
Probably two seminars and a party to launch the new book perhaps made
my immune system a bit weak but loved the book launch for Naked Trader 5.
We had it on a massive Thames paddlesteamer with plenty of party games
and comedy. I did a bit of stand up myself followed by two brilliant comic
pros - Robin Morgan (Graham Norton's warm up guy) - thanks for doing
that" joke Robin.
And the lovely and brilliant Bennett Aaron. A supremely talented stand up, writer,
documentary maker and all round good egg. Great to meet him and his wife and he
did a totally hilarious set.
One of the funniest things ever was a response from someone to the
question "What have you been arrested for"? Not an expected reply...
We played musical chairs, danced the night away and had an unexpected
extra half hour when the boat struggled against the tide and couldn't dock.
I hosted a live business quiz with spreadbet firms vs "normal people". My
friend Mary won it, and she knows nothing about business!
A truly magical night of old friends, new friends and finance type bods, all
absolutely lovely - I will never forget it.
If you missed the September seminar there is a new date for beginners/improver and
that is December 2nd. Mail me if you want to come at robbiethetrader
with "Dec interested" There is a massive early bird discount at the mo.
Thanks for the continued nice feedback on that one - like this from Rob:
I was worried I had allowed my expectations top run too high but turns
out they were too low!"
Once again thanks to all of you who came to this year's seminars so far. Thanks for all the lovely comments - quite a few about the high standard of the food and snacks so well done the hotel. My faves were the mini breakfasts and the smartie cookies.
Some of you already using my supply and demand tricks to some effect and so glad to hear from one or two who dumped their crap afterwards, the hardest thing to do.
Of course it's nice to get comments just after but even better after a while. For example this from Chris:
The seminar well exceeded my expectations. I learnt a ton about trading, keeping it simple and it has given me the confidence to cut some positions. I reinvested the proceeds in a spread account and new isa and the results from using your process are exemplary!
Naked Rambling
Anyone knows what's happening with Brexit? Like all of you
I'm past caring and would love one day to be able to watch the
news again.
I can only assume this will never be over and will just drag on for
years in one way or the other.
Will someone make it stop?
A Japanese airline will now let you know which seats has the
under 2-year-old in them so you can avoid.
But surely it should also warn against those who fart the whole way
through a flight... Plus:
Loving" couples, non stop small talkers, emormous
people, scratchers, bare feet people, actually everyone apart
from me.
Succession (*****) Now up there in my top 5 of all time (No 1= The Sopranos)
is in imperious fine form. Nothing like seeing those with too much money
having a rotten time...
The Confession (*****) Beautifully done tale based on real life possibly the
best drama of the year so far, congrats to ITV. The serial killer was played
beautifully by Joe Absolom. It seems a shame such a great detective,
Steve Fulcher played by Martin Freeman had his career ended so
cruelly.
The Capture (****) Just a little too much cctv mucking about in the end
for me and a lot of plot holes but even so decent entertainment. And
certainly food for thought. No happy ending either.
Britain's Got Talent The Champions. (*). What? This was supposed to be the champion of
champions. The winners were a couple of lads who were lovely dancers but...
champions? And second a couple of blokes doing Greek dancing. Eh? Oh
there was a comedian who didn't have even one funny line (where does he
get the confidence, try that in a pub in Peckham) the usual girly dance group,
a circus act (yawn) and I dunno. Just weird. And boring! And that's even
with fast forwarding through it in 20 mins.
The Apprentice (****) Yes, fine, we all know it's the same format.
Lord Sir A is looking a touch fed up with the whole thing, even the
terrible jokes that get written for him aren't said with much gusto.
I thought when I heard they were being sent to Capetown the task would
be to negotiate buying and selling drugs.
Whoever got back to the UK
alive would be crowned the winner.
Hmm, ban people from eating food on public transport to help stop
obesity?
No, ban food because it absolutely bloody stinks.
A better idea might be a special train carriage: "FIT"
Stands for "F******* Irritating T*****"
All Fits can go in there, eat sh1t, talk loudly into mobiles about their
boring lives, fart, pick noses, eat crap, drink crap, put feet on seats, get p1ssed, watch
other fit's hell on earth instagram feeds.
That leaves the rest of us to quietly relax. Now breathe in deeply... that's
it and... relax.... and again...
SEMINAR NEWS
NEW DATE DEC 2 near Heathrow (September is sold out)
Email me for details at robbiethetrader with "Dec seminar interested". There
is a decent early bird discount on offer. Follow up if you have been before Dec 9th
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks.
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Some recent feedback:
He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Follow up: For those who have been to the starter seminar Dec 9th

Bit hard to concentrate on this as I carry on typing from the sickbed.
I doubt I will do much till feeling better, hopefully in the last stages.
All the shenanigans over Brexit makes life very difficult for us investors. It isn't
something anyone has experienced before however long you've been in the
markets.
What happens next in politics" wasn't something I thought I was signing up
for.
So I continue to be cautious while still remaining in there. I've carried on and
kept calm and continued to trade while keeping a pile of cash in reserve in case.
After all, there is a chance a blockage could be removed in which case markets
could absolutely steam up and those who have been too scared to trade could
lose out.
Let's just hope something happens soon and we haven't got more weeks of
uncertainty.
With two recent seminars, my trade ideas book is overflowing!
One or two seemed on the higher risk side - they will be in the subscription
email. There were some very interesting ideas on the short side.
I was glad to see some short ideas as I do think investors should also consider
making money from falls in bad companies.
And a lot of decent trade set up ideas, so despite being at death's door and
just surviving the day (see somewhere up top) it was brilliant.
Begbies Traynor (BEG) is an interesting one brought up by two delegates
and I bought some. Managed to get a few at the prevailing "sell" price live at the
follow up seminar
so starting the trade at breakeven rather than already at a loss.
It provides insolvency, restructuring and consultancy services to
businesses.
It looks on a cheapish multiple, has low debt and a decent dividend,
going ex dividend today so I picked that up too.
In the end though I ain't too proud to BEG for these shares.
Defence shares all seem to be doing well so I added some Qinetiq (QQ.)
brought up at the seminar.
It's made a decent acquisition funded from its balance sheet. Provided
Corbyn doesn't get in, defence is resilient in a recession, possibly
why a lot of defence shares are on the up.
Despite its buys it still has a lot of cash and if it can break up through
300p it could have a way to go.
I would probably dump it fairly fast if it fell as it close to highs.
Avon Rubber (AVON) is another defence share going great guns....
well actually... masks.
I didn't quite understand why shares in Next Fifteen (NFC) tumbled after its
report, especially as profit taking had already taken its toll.
Then looking at level 2, of course it gets quite illiquid on the order book
and so one or two trades can literally take it some way back.
I took the opportunity and bought a fresh position in the PR outfit.
It's bought another company, hiked the dividend, and directors agree
the fall overdone by buying shares.
A very decent company and this is on my potential list of buyouts,
the price would have to be in the 700-800 mark and I can see it
regaining the 600p level soon (market meltdown aside).
Aston Martin (AML) has been a disastrous share - with a massive debt and no
sign of a turnaround it still looks like a short so..I shorted it even though
it has already sunk a lot. (This means I bet on it to go down).
The whole thing has been a car crash since its launch, I even remember
trying to get a short on at launch but failed.
The whole car market has the brakes on and it's pretty unlikely this one
will accelerate up and is more likely to carry on skidding so trying to bag
100 points on a short. I am now all out of shorting car puns.
Intu also came up as a short at the follow up seminar and that one paid off quicker than
any of us thought (well done Nick!) as it has fallen a lot in the last
couple of days.
Yet another weighed down by debt. It is hard to value property companies
but this one is definitely down in the dumps and should remain so
for a while.
Finablr proved a nice trade but taken profits on this now of £583.
I sold some more of the lovely bid for ETO banking another
£20,000 or so. At the moment, the chances of a further bid appear to be fading.
Synt - have sold some for a loss (£796
and £996) and some for a profit (£660) - but I have kept some, inc the shares bought low down in the rights issue.
It's come down to support levels now and could be really cheap so a potential buyback.
There was just little movement from CDM. And as I felt it's a share I don't know
much about its area I bagged a few profits of £272 instead of holding on.
Tiddler TP Group (TPG) keeps announcing contract wins and won yet another this week,
a five year military satellite comms contract. Looks remarkably cheap and considering
buying a few more.
Right the drugs are making me sleepy so I am off to put my head down and ride
out this miserable whatever it is stupid virus. I just hope it clears before
half-term in Spain.
Good luck with current market conditions, who knows by the time of the next
update things might be clearer? Oh well, here's hoping.

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
