NAKED TRADER PODCAST 3 !
>
Thanks for all the kind words on the new book Naked Trader 5 and glad you're enjoying it.
This discount code will work for 30pc off on the harriman house site
and that is NT5ROBBIE. Or Amazon has it!
It contains another five years
of learning - I've now been a full-time trader for nearly 20 years!
If you have an older edition please read edition 5 - as well as I get a quid
for every copy - it has lots of new things and tons of changes in the
way I do things.
So, Monday's sold out seminar. Bit of a squeeze but everyone got on fine!
It lovely to see everyone from age 24-78 mix so well and all occupations.
Plumber, scaffolder, Polo pro, doctor, self-employed, car seller, we had it
all!
At the start I thought "hmmm, this is a very quiet group.
Is this one going to be hard work?"
By 5pm, a buzzing group was asking me to write rude words when I
signed a copy of the book! Our banter and joking gradually got ruder.
Far from being quiet then. I guess more warming up was required...
I enjoyed the day immensely and came away with some lovely trade ideas.
I hope you enjoyed your birthday Al! So glad you took the cake home and I
hope you had a slice with your wife when you got back to Manchester. I am
flattered you enjoyed spending that special day with me and I only wish
I was your age again.
Well done to Samuel for winning that tenner (!) and congrats to Alan for being
fast enough to be the first person ever to be quicker than me in bagging a
mini breakfast...
Four of you have already booked for ANOTHER day at the follow up on Oct 7th. I am
flattered. Thanks for the feedback, and glad you felt the day worth it.
I am still full after eating masses of chicken, fish and chips, pizza, ice cream and
cake. I am glad some of you have cut losses and getting cracking reading the
notes.
If you didn't get the notes let me know but check spam first as it's a long mail.
Good luck to all of you and will see some of you next week and maybe some
of you later in the year or next.
One seminar delegate when booking the seminar asked "Can you take a card in case
you get run over by a bus, or similar mishap?"
I can't take cards but I did laugh a lot. It was the "similar mishap" that got me.
But then I thought what if I did get run over? Would this chap be cross?
Told you that you'd have a mishap didn't I?"
Would you believe it three days before the seminar I DID have a mishap.
I was happily cycling along listening to a bit of Cardi B when I felt a sharp
pain in the leg. I looked down and a massive wasp/bee/hornet had attached
itself and was stinging!
I bashed it off and panicked. I'd read stories of people having stings then
dying ten minutes later or ending up in hospital.
I thought: "That bloke is going to be right. he forecast this mishap. He is
NOT going to be happy that I died of a hornet sting."
I was still alive ten minutes later. But I did get a massive itchy leg, red
rash everywhere and pain too. Lovely.
That carried on for days so I saw the doctor. I use a private one and pay him
£60 a go. Worth it, though he likes telling stories from his life.
So in one minute he told me to stop using insect bite cream on it as that's
useless" and it will be fine. Nothing to worry about.
So he had to fill the rest of the time with some
more stories.
Including one about his friend who went to treat Colonel Gaddifi who refused
to let him go - he ended up having to treat the whole family.
Then there was the time when he..... ok don't worry, leave it there. Next
time I pay him £60 it will be a "proper" mishap. Though hopefully nothing
to do with a bus.
If you missed this one there is a new date for beginners/improver and
that is December 2nd. Mail me if you want to come at robbiethetrader
with "Dec interested" There is a massive first ten to book discount at the mo.
Once again thanks to all of you who came to this year's seminars so far. Thanks for all the lovely comments - quite a few about the high standard of the food and snacks so well done the hotel. My faves were the mini breakfasts and the smartie cookies.
Some of you already using my supply and demand tricks to some effect and so glad to hear from one or two who dumped their crap afterwards, the hardest thing to do.
Of course it's nice to get comments just after but even better after a while. For example this from Chris:
The seminar well exceeded my expectations. I learnt a ton about trading, keeping it simple and it has given me the confidence to cut some positions. I reinvested the proceeds in a spread account and new isa and the results from using your process are exemplary!
Naked Rambling
You have to feel sorry for all the Thomas Cook workers out of a job
and not so sorry for the poor management.
Grant Shapps, Transport Secretary was quite right not to bail out Cook.
It had a massive debt well over a billion for just a start. Oh and negative
assets of billions too.
It's pointless bailing out
a massively failing business. It would always have lost money and best
like a good trader for Shapps to cut his losses fast.
I also agree with him that bosses should hand back some of those
ridiculous bonuses given for running the company really badly. Companies
have got to stop awarding bonuses for poor performance.
I feel sorry for those whose hols were ruined but those booking in the last
couple of days I can't feel that sorry for I mean, come on!
The hard left wing of Labour showed us this week they can't even run
their own events properly. If they get hold of power in this country then
God help us all. Even the piss up in the proverbial would be way over
their level of competency.
In fact Corbyn as Prime Minister would be the same as a big school making
the supply Geography teacher the head. Yes, exactly - it would be chaos!
We have to hope Boris J has something up his sleeve re Brexit other than
a gravy stain. And let's hope there is substance and some detail other
than bluster.
Parliament at the mo looks and feels like an embarrassing shambles. It's
just too awful to even watch.
The Apprentice makes a return next week. Yes Lord Sir Ego returns.
Get set for more Tv wanabees to show how they have no self awareness
whatsoever which is really what the series is about.
As long as we all know we are watching to laugh at the losers and it isn't
a business show at all and just entertainment then I'm game for a laugh.
The Confession (*****)
A remarkably well done series based on the true life murders of a serial
killer and how silly procedure led to a fine officer being up for breaking
rules when he should have been highly commended.
There aren't any car chases or made up drama, just really well done and
hats off to Martin Freeman. Well done ITV.
The Capture (*****)
And well done the BBC for this one! Lots of nice twists and turns
- which cctv do we believe? Is anything what it seems?
Succession (*****) Every episode has become rivetting. If you haven't
seen this series yet download it or whatever from the start. Just brilliant writing as this dysfunctional family tears itself apart.
The UK based "mum" is a delight and all the actors obviously enjoy
their great roles.
Dragons den (****) This series seems to have improved!
Peter Jones seems less up himself and it's good to see Theo back. Sara
is a great addition to the dragons. Sensible, straight talking and will
take a punt.
Manifest (****) and Temple (****). I think I have been too snobby in the past
regarding shows on Sky One. Frankly I've thought "They must be s*** for
the masses not for clever people like me who watch Sky Atlantic"
But these two shows are a real fun watch. Take aside the ludicrous scenarios
they are simply undemanding and great entertainment. Love the underground
setting of Temple and the decent characters going rogue because they
have to. Take a peek.
Apparently 64 pc of people have to hide treats to stop their
partners or kids getting hold of them.
I am one of those but have yet to find a safe space. But I know
whodunnit.
If the treat has a couple of tiny bites taken from it like a mouse, then it is my wife.
If the treat has gone but the wrapper is lying there instead, it is my son.
If the treat and the wrapper have gone, it's the cleaner.
SEMINAR NEWS
NEW DATE DEC 2 near Heathrow (September is sold out)
Email me for details at robbiethetrader with "Dec seminar interested". There
is a decent early bird discount on offer. Follow up if you have been before Oct 7th
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks.
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Some recent feedback:
He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Just when you thought the mess couldn't get any worse it does!
The markets do not like uncertainty and it's hard to be a lot more
uncertain at the moment.
That's why I told beginners at the seminar to go very slowly indeed at the
moment till the various brexit/election blockages start to clear.
It hopefully won't be that long but it is probably wise to take care until
it is absolutely certain we won't get a hard left government because
then all hell will break loose.
And it is also really worth having cash on the sidelines in case and not
getting too leveraged up in spreadbets.
There is a case to make too that markets could boom up if brexit clears
up and there is no Corbyn election win - expect markets to rise
strongly then.
As usual tons of ideas came up at the seminar for trades - I will share
one or two but the others will stay with me and my delegates.
Remember girls and boys about potential future trades and being patient
to try and get in at the right time.
Given the current political mess buying anything at the moment comes with
higher risk than in normal times. One thing I would suggest is go in with
lower stakes that you might normally do and be prepared to get out
if things take a nasty turn.
And avoid anything that in normal times would be considered to be higher risk.
In these times I definitely prefer companies with a good cash bank or at least
a low debt.
A company with a lot of cash is Kape and I bought some.
It has cash of $36m and no debt and this global cybersecurity outfit
showed strong growth in revenue and profit.
For me, this leaves it looking very undervalued and I am looking for a
push up to at least a quid assuming the market doesn't blow a fuse
over Brexit.
Perhaps a catalyst for an upswing would be a move to spend some of
that cash.
I bought some Hikma (HIK) unusual as it has a market
cap of over £5 billion so it is a big company. This came
up on a screen of breakouts at the seminar.
But the market seems to love it and when it tries to go down with
the market it then seems to find strength and go back up.
I'm not sure I will be in for that long - I suspect if it goes up a bit more
I'll stick in a stop at break even and then move it up. As of course
what goes up a lot can come down.
And if the whole market went down it would take this with it. So very
much a get out quick trade if it fails on a breakout.
I picked up some Ten Entertainment (TEG) which we discussed on the day.
I already am in a nice profit with these and bought some more. Results
were very decent.
This bowling alley company just gradually goes up in time and the one
I go to is usually busy.
My main reason for buying it though is I think it is on my list of potential
bid targets.
The much larger Hollywood Bowl might look at it at some time. I think
if I was Hollywood I'd consider a massive fund raise and a buy of Ten.
After all they do the exact same thing!
We chatted pawnbrokers and compared H and T with Ramsdens. I made a
decent sum on H and T already but am out now.
Ramsdens (RFX) looks the one to be in as it has net cash whereas H and T has
some net debt.
With the support of net cash Ramsdens looks to be the better value. I
have made some money on this one before and it seems to be very
gently rising.
If things go pear shaped this one could even rise as gold would probably
go up and I suppose more people will pawn their goods.
I added some Cohort (CHRT). This nicely run company produced a very
decent AGM statement last week and despite rises there may be
more to come,
This tech group achieved a record operating profit and order intake
and says it continues to get good quality work.
This looks like a decent long-term hold idea for the isa and would expect
to keep it now unless conditions change.
I shorted Trainline. (bet on it to go down). However I am so annoyed. I was about to short it at
a fiver but got distracted. Ok, I decided to watch TV then forgot about the
short idea!
Next day an announcement that shareholders had sold a massive tranche
of shares. And the shares were hammered.
But, I still think these are way overvalued. I think the £2bln valuation is nuts
given the not so great profit and the massive debt.
No wonder some of the shareholders wanted out. I bet they do it again sometime.
Easy business to get into, how's about AppleTrain or AmazonTrain? So I shorted
live at the seminar even though I missed some of the fall.
The last nfc bought got stopped for a loss of £410 but hold the rest and topsliced a little xpp for a profit of £1,055.
I have started closing out some of the ETO positions - a rival bid is beginning to
look unlikely so for the website have started closing out positions. As you
know from last time the site made more than £100,000 with some patience
and I have closed out the last three positions for profits of £10,959
Those who came to the seminar saw the mega amounts I have made shorting
the FTSE (a lot I shorted at 7700 ish). I don't cover this kind of thing on
the website as I don't like to encourage the inexperienced into such risky
stuff for those who might lose control of such trades. It might well go up a lot
if Brexit things go its way currency wise so have moved stops closer
to the current price.
For the moment I think the idea would be "Keep calm and carry on..
to smaller amounts..."
If you buy too big it might be hard to get out in a crisis.
Higher risk trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
