FOLLOW UP: TBA December.
I'm so glad to say improvements continue for me and the hurt back just using mind over body techniques.
I so wish now I hadn't gone down the private healthcare route where all they want to do is bag your cash up and give you totally useless steroid injections or get you addicted to addictive pain killers.
I threw out the pills a while back and refused any more "treatment" concentrating solely on getting better by training my brain to start to switch off pain. Chronic pain is amazingly often caused by the brain which thinks it is trying to protect you from things like too much movement.
People like me are persuaded by mri scans that there is something structurally wrong when anyone over 50 probably has wear and tear like slipped discs etc. This does not mean the pain is actually anything structural at all - it is the brain producing it as a protection tool.
Once you persuade your brain there is nothing major wrong except for getting older wear and tear it gradually starts to switch off the pain. Amazing.
Beware if your doc says something like: "Don't sit too much, it puts pressure on the discs.." your brain will immediately give you pain when sitting.
Best way is to challenge it. For example I have been cycling, swimming, walking and I did my first longer drive. I've also been sitting for longer and been to the movies. The brain will produce pain a while afterwards to try and put you off. You know it is not really structural if the pain doesn't really happen when you are doing the activity. If you wonder whether your pain could be Tension Myositis Syndrome your first port of call should be Dr Sarno's book Healing Back Pain.
I am knackered after the online seminar yesterday but it was a pleasure to kind of meet some of you online. I love the fact there is such a diversity of people. All ages and stages of life from gardeners, accountant, military, police, pilot, scaffolder. Great thing about trading is it doesn't matter who you are anyone can try it. No qualifications required which is just as well as I don't have any!
I was surprised at the amount of interest in spreadbetting and level 2 and you really quizzed the boss of a spreadbetting company! The day flew by, it was an interesting day to look at live markets and between us I think we came up with some good ideas.
You should have all got the notes from the event, if you haven't had them check your spam folders or just let me know.
Will see three of you again quickly this wednesday when I host the online follow up/more advanced seminar.
I look forwards to seeing some regulars then - many of you I have already met in the pre covid hotel events.
If you missed the seminar as it ended up sold out have fixed the date for the next one which is November 3rd - email for me for details if you fancy a day with me and live markets.
If you want to hear me there is suddenly a glut of me talking after years of not much!
I have always turned down interview requests whether newspaper, tv, mag or podcast. It's because first of all I hate the sound of my own voice and think who wants to listen to a smug git (me) blabbing on about how much money he made. And also I get scared of getting too much response as I don't want to have to answer emails all day long.
But couldn't quite resist the call of the FT's money clinic podcast so I am on the latest edition with the lovely Claer Barratt. Google FT money clinic to find it.
She has done it so well, lovely production and a secret about her: she used to play saxophone in ska bands .. including Bad Manners!
Also have restarted up the "Naked money" podcast which will carry on every two weeks where me and a millennial dj put 6k into an isa between us and every week he picks something risky to put in it and I pick something old farty! But after a year 6k has become 11k after all costs which I am very pleased with. Google naked money to find it.
And of course there is 2.5 hours of me with fun and share picks here:
https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5
No one has yet got the £100 competition correct so you still have a chance to win it deadline extended to the next website update.
Rules are simple: the person with the nearest to the total of sun, sunshine and sunny's on the pod gets £100. More than one spot on I will contact you with a tiebreaker. Good luck!
Yet another cinema visit to warm up for James Bond and this time we saw the thriller "The Courier".
I thought this would be a good idea as a warm up for the long delayed James Bond movie now out at the end of the month. That will be nearly three hours
long so a 1.5 hrs movie seemed a decent warming.
The Courier is well worth seeing. Benedict Cumberbatch is superb as the salesman drawn in to be a spy during the Cuban Missile crisis.
A true story of courage against adversity. Plenty of tension and remarkable that this story is true - that one brave chap helped stop world war 3.
Lovely to spend the day online last time with some of you at the zoom seminar.
Very interesting conversations - I noted on a few questionaires the subject of
perfectionism came up. It is impossible to be perfect in markets which makes it
harder if you are a perfectionist! It just can't happen and things will go wrong.
I was delighted as some of you began to understand level 2 and the importance of
supply and demand. And thanks so much for the feedback such as this from Phil:
"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."
Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!
Claire mailed me with some feedback on the seminar which she attended.
"Thanks for a fantastic seminar, I learned a lot and got every question I could think of answered. I think the most beneficial thing to me was just seeing with my own eyes how you go through the process of picking shares to buy and witnessing your thought process as you go through and also being able to ask questions as they arise. The system you and Elizabeth have for answering all the questions is fabulous & means you depart the maximum amount of information that is humanly possible in one day! The next day I just wished I was doing the course again instead of going back to work as it seemed dull in comparison."
Thanks Claire! It was a lovely group with a great sense of humour.
Next online seminar is on November 3rd email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com
with "Nov seminar interested" in the subject line for all the info.
Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.
"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.
Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:
"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.
I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.
I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....
.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"
Naked Rambling
Xmas Day I mean. Lack of c02 may mean no turkey! Oh no, boo hoo! Good, I hate turkey anyway, horrible dry and tasteless. Or is that just the way I cook it?
I really could care less. Beans on toast is fine, twix and a tea. Pringles?
Shops are urging you to "stock up now" in case there are shortages. Scare tactics always work so expect empty shelves.
Usually spend Xmas on the beach in Dubai, then onto the place that does lobster rolls and chips, that's what I call a great Xmas dinner!
I wonder if we can make it this time. Depends on covid I guess, if I have to wear a mask just walking outside, forget it. Last minute decision. My back should be able to take it given I can lie down most of the time on Emirates business class. Lucky me, but look there is nothing else I buy except for nice travel.
Anyway surely Xmas is just for kids? Now mine will be 17 the magic has gone so really who cares. I hate all the fuss for months beforehand.
All those tedious promotions, Starbucks playing tedious Xmas music from October. The horrible special tv episodes that were really filmed in the summer. All those people who feel lonely, all the families shoved together. I bet lock up xmas last year was enjoyed by more than you would imagine!
Someone needs to come up with an anti-xmas app. Xmas tune on the radio - Zap!
I forgot the annoyances of "Black Friday" - idiotic pretend sales to get you to buy stuff that was mainly cheaper in the summer, and will be cheaper a week after "Black Friday".
Surely it's time for the climate activists to stop blocking roads. We are all sympathetic to them and we understand things need to be done but it's not fair to interfere so heavily with other people's lives.
There are some horrific stories around of people trying to get to hospital, car accidents and an incident where someone died on the way to trying to get treatment.
The light touch on stopping traffic isn't working and we have got to now consider moving the activists on fast.
It is pretty ironic the lead activist of the insulate Britain hasn't insulated his own house.
Frankly if I was head of "Insulate Britain" I would have made sure I practised what I preached.
If you are in government, a golden rule should be never tell the public "not to panic".
That's because they will assume definitely panic which is why it might be harder to get petrol over the next few days.
It was just a small disruption but you can guarantee the don't panic corporal Jones message will send everyone to top up their tanks. Next message will probably be Don't panic about buying a turkey for Xmas.
9 Perfect Strangers (****) Amazon
This one continues to intrigue although with the sameish premise as The White Lotus it has one or two dull passages (usually the drugged up dream bits). I enjoyed it up to episode 6, the last one - episode 7 not so sure about. It was nearly an hour of drugged up fantasy. I am just about now buying Nicole Kidman playing a Russian.
The Voyeurs (***) Amazon
The actress who plays the spoilt teen on The White Lotus starts in this thriller with a decent premise. A couple move in to a new place and start to watch the neighbours opposite having sex. This leads to all kinds of twists and turns and is quite gripping. It's just a shame the writers mess up the last half hour with simply too many twists and turns when you think: These twists are just too unlikely".
Vigil (***) BBC1
Remains entertaining despite the premise and the action verging on the ludicrous. But as each episode goes by more and more unlikely and ludicrous things happen.
Johnson from Peep Show is getting madder and madder and the bloke from Line of Duty seems to have disappeared. Jon Snow's lady friend from Game of Thrones has come to the fore though the lesbian bits don't really ring true when you think she is now actually married to Jon Snow. And apparently he still "knows nothing".
Stephen ITV (****)
It took a bit of time to get used to Steve Coogan playing the detective here. You keep thinking "That's Steve Coogan doing his Michael Caine impression." Once over that, terrific performances all round and worth anyone watching to see how racist and badly led the Met was at that time. Tragedy of course for Stephen's parents but at least they get some kind of justice, despite it taking so long. A real eye-opener.
The Adulterer (****) All 4
A cracking Scandi thriller as a previously happily married photographer falls in love out of the blue with someone else at one of her exhibitions. The advantage of a Scandi is we don't know the actors and haven't seen them in so many other things. Also it's a decent believable story without time switches and gimmicks.
Clickbait (*) Netflix
Such a promising title but such a poor show, I made it to half of episode 2 before clicking off. Cardboard characters - so much so you could care less. Hopefully I saved an hour and a bit of your life here.
Sir Lord Starmer had written a "13,000 word essay". Another stormer of an idea which I am sure will win Labour the election. I will download a copy as I think it might help with some recent insomnia.
He is so out of touch: because of I Phones the max length of any essay now should ten words. No-one reads any more than that.
Boris J is off in the US making some terrible jokes including a squirm inducing one about Kermit the Frog which members of the UN failed to get. The script probably said "Pause for laughter here", sadly there wasn't any. (Remember the famous time Jezza Corbyn read out : "pause for applause here..")
Boris also told the French: "Donnez-moi un break".
I gather the only other French phrase he ever needed or used was "Voulez vous couchez avec moi?"
IPhones in the future will be "able to monitor your mental health".
Definitely not getting one of those. I don't want my phone to text me with
"Robbie, you are a nut job.. Love, your phone."

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

There is a new episode of the "Naked money" podcast. A series where I teach a novice trader how to do it and
every week we pick a share.
The new edition is available whereever you get your podcasts under "Naked Money"
or here is a link:
!!!
It's new!! Podcast no 5 is ready!
https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/
Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money, plus a £100 competition, top tens, spot the intros, nostalgia corner and loads of laughs. Plus experienced investors have tips for beginners and investment ideas - settle down and spend
some time with the Naked Trader!
At last I thought just maybe something was going to happen in the tight rangebound markets.
Early in the week there was just a quickie (ooh matron) sell off. It looked like it was going to be a major one. Blamed on some property company in China?? But then as always the money comes in and the stockmarket jenga board remains wobbly but defiantly standing.
However there seems to be a plethora (is that a word?) of potential worries building up and if they do have to raise interest rates the last piece of jenga goes the whole lot will come crashing down.
I now have a lot of cash after my recent sell off. And ready to short if needs be.
Enjoyed a day with some of you at the online seminar this week was totally knackered the day after hence this update is a day later than normal.
We did loads of scans for potential share buys or shorts. Some of the better screens produced some goodies. As I try and get across to those attending online it is much better to find your own shares then make a plan than going for bulletin board, website, magazine and suchlike commentators.
Cos if you do you'll end up with confirmation bias. You'll soon realise no internet commentator/tipster ever sells anything at a loss. So you will end up with massive losers.
Run your own ideas, make an exit plan your brain is then clear of other people's clutter.
I bought CMC markets CMCX live at the online seminar. I am not usually one to buy a share after a big selloff but it looked like a tremendous bargain. Such a bargain, in fact, I keep wondering if I was a much bigger SB firm (IG?) could make a bid. Well, if I were a bigger rival I would.
The share is sold off as it had a quiet summer as there was little volatility but now approaching the winter months that will return (It already did this week) and I think there could be as much as 50% upside here even without a bid.
It looks amazing value, has a ton of cash and when day traders return the rewards will be there for those buying now. Obviously there is risk, maybe the slowdown will continue. But it really should be near the bottom.
Also live bought some Telecom Plus TEP and bought more earlier in the week. Reason? The collapse of so many of the smaller elec/gas companies. There will now be millions of customers looking for a new home for their gas/elec. Its trading name is Utilities Discount Warehouse.
Tep/UDW has a supply deal which means big gas price increases doesn't affect it. Its army of distributors now have a massive chance to pick up new customers. It has many other income streams too such as telephone, broadband, mobile and insurance.
Disclosure! I have held shares in this since they were 18p and have nearly £300,000 worth which pays me a nice 5pc plus divi, my income share. And in a certificate! Also been a distributor for it since 1998. What I am saying is probably the only where in which I do suffer confirmation bias!
If your energy co has gone bust, switch to UDW using this link. On the link I get commission on whatever you use. If you sign up using the link I'll also add you into the subscription email service where you get the website stuff sent directly to you.
https://uw.co.uk/join?position=237058
Once there click "not with a UW partner" and follow instructions. You'll get a good service, phones are answered quickly and rates are always reasonable. We take all the services. If prompted anywhere like who recommended stick in Robbie Burns partner no 237058. If you want me to add you to the email list send me your customer number when you get it.
Avon Protection AVON has been savagely sold off and de-rated after worries over its products being approved and some delays to orders. It does make it higher risk now, but I noted it started rising quite strongly all of a sudden so I assumed good news was on the way so jumped on board.
Then this morning there was good news on a contract! Hmm, well someone obviously knew something earlier in the week when the price began to go up... in fact it is amazing how a share climbs before a good news statement!
However, of course it is a very speculative idea and any further delays could see it falling again.
I suppose us hopeful of a bid have a fear of not being in the shares just as the bid comes out
One share kept coming up on all the share screens we did and that was Somero SOM.
A US share listed here dealing in laser equipment (ooohhh!).
It's a rare one, looks cheap, in a sector in demand, with plenty of cash and a dividend to boot.
Downsides - the spread is disappointing but you can usually deal well within it and as a US share some brokers will either not deal in it or demand you fill out a form.
The recruitment sector continues to fly and I added two bigger ones to the small one I have, Gattaca - Page and S Three.
Both continue to re-rate upwards and there could be more upside still.
We did discuss at the seminar how cheap Gattaca looks and I wonder if one of these two much bigger companies might think about taking Gattaca out?
I added yet more 888. No point talking about this one much as I have covered it endlessly in many updates. But one of my favourite bid targets it has bought William Hill's Euro business and although a fund raising is on the cards for the buy, it looks a long-term terrific winner. Already trebled on it but more to come imo.
Can you believe yet another bid for me what a year it has been with so many bid gains. This time Entain has a bid - not a straightforward one, the bid is shares from the other company and cash.
Thing is it brings Entain into play and I thought it was worth buying more at a higher price as I think it's only a matter of time before a bid officially goes through.
The current bid values Entain at between 25 and 28 quid with the shares around 22 there could be considerable upside. Even if withdrawn I don't think there is much downside here.
I shorted more Trainline. This share is way too high. No prospects of a profit next year, massive debt, potential Govt. intervention - we discussed this a lot at the seminar and none of us could see a reason not to short.
Indeed Stockopedia gives it a "sucker stock" rating. Of course the market can continue to give it a high rating but at some point buyers will realise they are indeed suckers.
We use Stocko all day at the seminars, such a brilliant site for research. For 14 days free trial and then a massive discount go here:
https://www.stockopedia.com/nakedtrader/
I made a small profit on a FTSE short when the market tanked down briefly but not much as I had only moved the stops close to break even.
Morgan Sindall has been a brilliant share but after an amazing run where I doubled on the first buy for the website I have cashed some of them in.
That's a very nice profit of £11,850 and once again shows patience pays and running profits really works. Now to a different Morgan, this time Morgan Advanced Materials where I have executed a "get out quick" taking a loss of £94. There were just too many sellers around on level 2 so that made me quit the trade early.
A profit of £1,280 taken on SUP shares as they started to weaken on level 2.
Synthomer seemed to hit a lot of sellers in the low 500s so took profits of £366.
Profits and losses taken in Concurrent. Had this for a long time but it just baulks at going much over a quid so I have quit. Overall two profits and a loss on this one with a total in the end profit £833. I can't see the value here anymore.
We discussed Next 15 at the seminar and I wondered whether it was time to axe the last long-term shares I had in this. With a trading statement next week the chances are it will go down even if the statement is good plus it is now much higher rated. So after more than 5 years it is time to say goodbye to the remaining shares for the website and bank a tasty profit of £66,114.
Elsewhere the portfolio continues in good shape with many gains. Spirent has looked in good shape but needs to get above 300p. A super report from Begbies pushing the shares higher.
Interesting times ahead with the main question could markets try to push down again and at some point will the wall of cash supporting them stop buying in?
Don't forget my new podcast here -
you could even win some cash.

Money Week offer:
Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.
Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.
There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.
The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..
On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!
So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT
Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.
Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.

**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
Ig created a stir among traders by axeing coverage of 900 odd shares. Customers were forced onto 100pc margin and many have not long to close them out,
It said it was forced into it by its own broker - I suspect sb firms are alarmed by the Gamestop palava and they've been inundated with too many new accounts chasing the same pump and dump shares.
Out of the 900 axed shares I only held two and am allowed to hang on as a "pro" trader.
Actually an interesting list of mostly rubbish and I suspect those forced out might be glad eventually!
There are some surprise bigger shares in there that IG will no longer deal in so for those of you who mailed me re other accounts I suggest
https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
for the top 350 shares, spreads are often the best and it will deal in most 350 shares and some that IG won't. It also pays 2% interest on free cash up to 20k paid monthly.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.
Those who moan about 100pc margins, well I do suggest in my SB book not to use margin much - the sb firms can any time ask you to go 100pc. If this is a worry and you do not have the money to cover look on it as a warning and stop using too much leverage ok! (Yes Robbie stop being horrid to me).

Stockopedia as ever is SO useful. It really is a must have! And some fantastic talented writers/commentators too like Paul Scott.
Brilliant stats on all shares, amazing stock screens and even
discussion boards that are actually sensible and not barmy
blokes having a go at each other as if they were pissed in
a pub. Or weird obsessives.

If you are thinking of A ftse trade try https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
as their spread is the tightest at 0.8. Also very pleased with execution - FTSE cos the cheapest spreads there too.
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does: https://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
