Happy independence day!

Good news! Naked Trader edition 5 is finished and just going through editing - it should be available in September and I hope to have some
hot off the press for those of you coming to the Sept 23rd seminar.

It's packed with lots of new things and new ideas I've come across since the last 2014 edition, crikey that makes me feel old.

I should get a link soon from the publisher with a special offer for you readers, and will add this to the site once I have it.

Otherwise, it's available for pre order on Amazon.

I am knackered after two seminars on the trot. Lovely as it was to meet new and regulars doing one on the Friday and one on the Monday
was too much. I'm only just about able to speak again now!

Though it seemed to have worked for those of you who came to both.

Just amazing people, both days. Lovely, tons of humour, great questions.

I wish I could shout out to all of you - but a big "hi" to the 1971 ers! Justin who came to both days and who lives close!

Lovely couple Dave and Lal, regular Vikesh, great to see Peter from Ireland and thanks for the smoked salmon (he has been coming since 2008!) I could go on but obvs boring for outsiders.

Thanks for all the lovely feedback, work hard at your research and level 2 over the summer and I am sure I will see some of you again at a follow up soon.

Thanks too for the comments on the food and drink and the ice cream, mini breakfasts, waffles etc.. all the stuff I enjoy!

I can't even remember how many great trades came up at both and I have bought some, (see markets) but also lots of potential trades to be came up too, enough for the summer!

If you missed this one then why not grab the very early bird discount on the next on Sept 23rd... mail me at robbiethetrader with "Sep seminar interested".

I've been having a very exciting time trying to learn to do actually useful things I never did before.

I've said a few times at seminars if zombies took over while we were in the room, I would instantly become useless.

I have no skills outside being able to buy one made up number then sell the made up number at a higher price.

Indeed, I would be the first one to be eaten.

I've started by trying to learn to paint. Lucky I have a flat I work out of so no risk, if I screwed it up, no problem.

A few youtube videos later, I was busy with a brush. I tried hard, put on tape so not to make a mess of it.

Four hours later, two coats on, I could not have been happier.

Really, I thought, that actually looks like a professional painting job!

Plus, it was really enjoyable and who doesn't love the smell of paint.. hmmm, yummy!

Of course I do realise painting a wall is probably the easiest bit. I am going to tackle a door next. I think you need a different kind of paint so will have to look that up.

But in the meantime, I am going to so another wall.

I was going to use a roller but a friend of mine who paints sometimes says a brush is better, a quality brush so going to get one of those.

To make you even more impressed, I even mended a puncture on my bike,

Before deciding to try and be more useful I'd have just called this guy who comes out in a van and mends the puncture. £35, thanks very much.

Not this time, not useful Burns! I bought a cycle repair kit from the corner shop at £1.99.

Ten minutes later, done! Now I'm thinking over the years how much have I paid that guy to mend punctures? I feel ashamed. Over say 20 years, 5 punctures a year, £175 a year... that's.... £3,500 !! Nuts!!

Hang on, if I learn to do all the painting, how much is that going to save!

Spurred on by my success I am going to tackle the boiler next.. surely
that must be easy too!**

**That is a joke to stop any alarmed emails

We travelled back in time yesterday, all the way back to the 60s -
for four hours around the surrey hills on a lovely
steam train with Pullman carriages.

Also a three course meal was served and a stop off in Chatham
to inspect the wonderful steam engine.

It's called the Sunset Steam Express and it leaves Waterloo
once a week for the trip up to September.

We were lucky to be going with two wonderful friends but it could
easily be a lovely trip to be enjoyed solo.

It's so atmospheric, the sounds of the locomotive, the comfy
seats even the olde worlde toilets.

They managed to produce lovely food too. There is also an option on a cheaper ticket to bring your own hamper.

I was at times expecting James Bond to come running through the
carriage chased by a big bloke with an iron hand....

If you just fancy a ride on the train there's a service on Tuesdays from Waterloo to Windsor. Website is

Thanks for the contributions some of you have made for the next podcast, still time if you would like to contribute, it is £100 for the best one!
Let's try: what fun song would you liked played at your funeral?

What currently annoys you the most about modern life?

Where are you off to during the summer and why?

Who on TV annoys you the most and why?

Send your stuff to me - you never know you might be a winner.

Once again thanks to all of you who came to this year's seminars so far. Thanks for all the lovely comments - quite a few about the high standard of the food and snacks so well done the hotel. My faves were the mini breakfasts and the smartie cookies.

Some of you already using my supply and demand tricks to some effect and so glad to hear from one or two who dumped their crap afterwards, the hardest thing to do.

Of course it's nice to get comments just after but even better after a while. For example this from Chris:

I came to the Feb 4th seminar 2019 and it well exceeded my expectations. I learnt a ton about trading, keeping it simple and it has given me the confidence to cut some positions that though weren't losing were pooled investments and research my own companies. I reinvested the proceeds in a spread account and new isa and the results from using your process are exemplary! I held off emailing as I have only just started taking profits from these positions.

My Spreadbet account has risen in value massively and my new isa has soared. Had I been in the same positions I was on the 4th Feb I would have been roughly the same account value or worse off as back then but with your guidance and insight I have added considerably to my accounts."

Well it is all down to you Chris in the end and I hope profits continue to roll in but remember if there is a down market to use the tools I showed you to make money from a slump or a Corbyn govt.

If you missed this one, the next seminar is Sep 23rd a Mail me if interested, robbiethetrader with "Sep seminar interested" in the subject line.

Naked Rambling

Oh my goodness!

The "Brexit Party" turn their backs in the Euro Parliament.

Meanwhile outside the Lib Dems wear "Bollox to Brexit" shirts.

Frankly if I was someone in europe I would think "Let's just get
rid of these childish bunch of idiots."

I find it really embarrassing. How about some dignity from the Brexit
party. Argue things out. Turning backs is SO purile.

As it using that stupid slogan by the Lib Dems. It isn't a word suitable]
for kids, so why use it? Such a stupid slogan.

Could have been so much better. How's about "Better together."

Or "Let's stick together" and they could have used that Roxy Music track.

Honestly, whether you want remain or leave, or like me sick of the whole effing thing - either way we are becoming a major embarrassment.

Given over 75's will no longer have TV licences they must be wondering how a guy who presents a few links on a football show can be
paid nearly £2m. That's the equivalent of more than 125,000 TV
licences.

It's crazy. Anyone could present Match of the Day and the viewing figures wouldn't move.

Indeed, I suspect, like me, most viewers record it and fast forward through the links because we just want to watch the football action.

I am sure he is a lovely guy and all but it's way too much. Same goes for some of the "executives" who earn 400k plus. Bonkers on public money.

Turning to TV.. the summer is here so there's not a lot to get excited about but..

Handmaid's Tale (*****) surprisingly remains a real gripper.

You'd have thought the third series would get stale but they've
axed nearly all the violence and added more politics which
has made it very interesting considering the events depicted
could possibly happen one day.

Killing Eve (***)

What happened? From sublime entertainment to suddenly an
episode which was awful.

Given it's been great up to now, can forgive one duffer and
hope the rest is back up to scratch.

Gentleman Jack (****) Suranne Jones continues to impress in this
fun tale.

Big Little Lies (*****) is surprisingly really good! (Sky Atlantic).

Some great roles in this for women with the men mainly sidelined.

And what a fantastic performance from Merryl Streep. An amazing
portrayal of insidious behaviour - she steals the show in every scene.

A hedge fund manager says he has a simple employment strategy.

I look for someone in London who gets up at 7am on a Sunday and logs onto a poker site so he can pick off the US drunks coming
home on Saturday night."

An interesting strategy then. Why not just ask : "Are you a complete
c***?"

Yes? Then welcome aboard!"
SEMINAR NEWS
New date Sep 23rd 2019 near Heathrow
Email me for details at robbiethetrader with "Sep seminar interested". There
is a decent early bird discount on offer. Follow up if you have been before July 1.

Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks.

My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.

A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Some recent feedback:

He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

***
Would you believe it, half the year is over?

And it has been a surprisingly excellent year so far. I have had
some spectacular gains and I am sure many investors have done
the same.

It's been relatively easy. But there are been some nasty ones lurking around as well, it you have managed to avoid those then some shares have put on huge gains.

This has made me a bit wary for the rest of the year. I am more than happy and happy to hang onto the gains and not give some back.

So it makes me a bit wary for the rest of the year given potential political pitfalls looming. I might go back into more cash over the summer.

Surprise! Despite a lot of fear about, and problems across
the world, markets don't seem to care.

What's interesting is they don't seem to care about brexit which makes me wonder whether they simply expect Theresa May's deal a bit fudged, or let's say with some sprinkles of sugar on top to go through.

From an investor's point of view, that's probably the best outcome, clear out uncertainty, get an election out of the way and see the end of Corbyn.

Worst scenario? No deal worked out and a Corbyn government by default which would see a massive market tumble.

It's going to be a very interesting autumn!

Two seminars in close succession, the one for beginners and then the one for those who've been before has left me with a whole bundle of great trade ideas!

Some of the ideas I have already acted on and bought and some are on the back burner waiting for the right price.

I simply don't have the energy or patience to list anywhere near all of the buys here, so I will go some instead.

I haven't bought a retailer in years - I have only shorted because the retail space is in such a terrible state.

So I kind of surprised myself by buying one!

Shoe Zone (SHOE) actually looks pretty decent! It sells shoes obviously but is changing its format from small stores on small high streets to mega stores and this switch seems to be working.

It looks mega cheap, it actually has net cash so it's not going bust, and directors seem very confident and are buying shares.

As well as the new big store format being rolled out its digital offering is being upped too which seems very sensible.

The margins it makes on its strongest products is on the up and now
at 62% which is decent.

Dividend payout is nearly 7 per cent too. Plus I can buy near lows AND
a massive support point on the chart.

So though not a shoe buyer as I knock about in trainers (I know disgusting for someone my age, it shouldn't be allowed) I find myself a fan
of shoe zone!

I've bought some Argentex (AGFX), another we discussed at the seminars.

An interesting new issue liked by the market which marked it up from the issue price right away.

It provides foreign exchange services to institutions, corporates and the wealthy.

Digging around to find figures took ages with lengthy documents to bung though.

But overall it looks good. Profits and revenues have risen every year for many years and it looks a healthy business.

It also wasn't floated on too high a price. Whether the mark up so
far is right or not is hard to tell but a toe in the water on this one.

The Mission Marketing (TMMG) kept showing up on share scans and it was chosen by two at the follow up - it looked good fundamentally so I bought some live.

Most investors are too fearful to buy shares that have already gone up a lot but always seems crazy to me, why not buy a winner?

This marketing outfit is strong and keeps on performing. Profits are up and they are paying off the debt and there is not much of that left.

The only thing that put me off was the chairman started off his statement thus: "Quaquaversatility: it's what it's all about."

(I always thought it was you put your left leg in, your right leg out - that surely is what it's all about?)
Some share holds dropped for a short time for no real reason so I took advantage for some top ups!

Synthomer (SYNT) announced a massive placing and a huge buy of another company.

It is enormous for the company and it's going to be transformed.

I would expect the shares to gradually rise and I'll definitely take part in the 1 for 4 share offer at 240.

In the meantime I have added some more, I would think another 100p will be added into the price by winter.

Solid State (SOLI) did that "fall on results day for no real reason other than profit taking" so I topped up with another buy. Looks extremely cheap and I'm after a target of 600p. Perhaps when it can get past 500p it could motor.

Iomart (IOM) a long term hold fell, again for little reason and I topped up there, a similar story with GB Group (GBG) which again overfell and I was happy to average up yet again there, a big future still lies ahead for GBG.

I shorted Dominos (DOM) as it looks to be toppy at 280 and it has a range of 240-280. If it happens I would take profits at 240 then maybe go long unless the downtrend continues.

I tried a small short in Pennon which failed for a tiny loss at a get out quick stop we did at one of the seminars. I have tried once again today with another short as it is close to the top of its range.

Massive profits banked in Future of £6,172.

Been a brilliant buy but not sure why, there seems to be a downtrend. I didn't get out anywhere near the recent top but a decent ride all the way from 387p !

Big profits on CCC have become too hard to resist so banked they are and a nice quick profit of £2,850 on those.

I took more profits on Safecharge which got bid for as another bid hasn't materialised - profits for the website are more than £18,000 and more than £100,000 personally. That doesn't include the massive dividend payouts over the last years.

I took profits on Spirent as it doesn't seem to want to go higher for now so that's profits banked of £1,180.

The M and S short has been a dream short but time to bank profits of £970 there.

That's site profits banked of £11,172.

Phew, that's about as much as I can cope with writing, for those of
you who subscribe to the email there are a couple of extra higher
risk trades there.

It's quite possible we might be in for a decent summer in the share market but autumn could be tricky so I think I will do some quiet profit taking over the summer and build up cash.

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.
