It's the longest day of the year tomorrow. ALREADY!!!!
It can't be !! When's summer? How has nearly half the year gone? What have I done with it?
Not long till I see some of you at the beginner/improver and follow up seminars, one or two of you at both.
That's two whole days I have to work around a weekend, I'm going to have to remember what it was like to really work for a living.
But, I love doing both and look forwards to meeting new people on Friday June 28th and people who've spent a day with me before on the first day of July.
But being selfish these two events should find me enough new trades and would be trades to keep me going right through the summer without having to do any further work on finding new trades!
Hopefully the weather will be good as I have ordered some nice ice cream for both events. Sadly my Mr Whippy machine just couldn't cope with making so many whippies so fast but this ice cream I have got is pretty good and there are flakes and sauces to go with it!
Also mini full Englishes will be there, along with delicious chocolate waffles and lots of other naughty surprises. Don't eat much the day before and book the gym for the day after...
If you haven't filled out the questionnaire yet there is still time but as soon as I get them the better if poss.
I look forwards to seeing those of you coming to the follow up as we have chatted many times before, some of you have been a number of times and
we will catch up for a drink afterwards.
There is space left at both events so if you fancy a day out with me and live markets.
mail me for details!
All those politicians admitting to taking drugs. Looks like they all have and that makes me feel really square.
I've never had one! Not one ! My father was a drug addict which kind of put me off.
But still now I am nearly old, I really should try one. I mean Michael bloody Gove has had some! How can he be more groovy than me?
I'm thinking a little weekend break in Amsterdam should do it. I am a bit scared though. Maybe I'll just have a quarter of a slice of "cake" and see what happens.
If I just disappear one day and the website and emails suddenly stop, I had a whole slice and decided I felt too laid back to write updates any more, man...
Looks like you're all way too wealthy to be bothered to win £100 for the best contribution to the next NT podcast.
I didn't get one contribution! Given that winning the £100 might be quite easy, just send me any old tosh and you'll win.
Let's try: what fun song would you liked played at your funeral?
What currently annoys you the most about modern life?
What's your worst trading disaster this year and what did you get
wrong? Or right?
Where are you off to during the summer and why?
Send your stuff to me - you never know you might be a winner. I'm not holding my breath for any entries you lazy rich .....
I'm really good about fizzy drinks.
As someone easily addicted to sugar I allow myself just one bottle of coke a year.
It has to be a glass bottle. Long ago when I owned a cafe I was told by the coke guy only ever drink from a glass bottle.
All sorts of stuff gets into the cans and that's why they don't taste so good," he confided.
Two hours after I drank the coke.. a false tooth falls out.
It cost £95 to get it cemented back in. That was an
expensive coke.
I promised to take my lad to Fulham away games in August before he goes back to boarding school.
I was hoping it would be easy - the nearby teams - QPR, Brentford, Charlton, perfect.
Guess what I got? Yes that's right. Barnsley, Huddersfield and
Cardiff. Thanks a bunch.
All hours and hundreds of pounds in rail fares away. The things
you do for your kids.
Oh, and you have to stand the whole game together with pissed teenagers or grumpy old gits. I can't wait.
He's not bothered with home games and prefers away. Go figure.
Mrs NT has started Spanish lessons which should prove very handy as we go there a lot.
Phrases that should help: "Sorry I don't want to buy a fake Prada bag".
I love Father's day. It's the one day I can get away without having to put the bins out.
Once again thanks to all of you who came to May's seminar. Thanks for all the lovely comments - quite a few about the high standard of the food and snacks so well done the hotel. My faves were the mini breakfasts and the smartie cookies.
Some of you already using my supply and demand tricks to some effect and so glad to hear from one or two who dumped their crap afterwards, the hardest thing to do.
Of course it's nice to get comments just after but even better after a while. For example this from Chris:
I came to the Feb 4th seminar 2019 and it well exceeded my expectations. I learnt a ton about trading, keeping it simple and it has given me the confidence to cut some positions that though weren't losing were pooled investments and research my own companies. I reinvested the proceeds in a spread account and new isa and the results from using your process are exemplary! I held off emailing as I have only just started taking profits from these positions.
My Spreadbet account has risen in value massively and my new isa has soared. Had I been in the same positions I was on the 4th Feb I would have been roughly the same account value or worse off as back then but with your guidance and insight I have added considerably to my accounts."
Well it is all down to you Chris in the end and I hope profits continue to roll in but remember if there is a down market to use the tools I showed you to make money from a slump or a Corbyn govt.
If you missed this one, the next seminar is Sep 23rd a Mail me if interested, robbiethetrader with "Sep seminar interested" in the subject line.
Naked Rambling
You can see why those behind Boris J are trying to keep him away from cameras and publicity.
He seems to be more awkward than ever. But he also has personality and that's what voters seem to be after these days.
I wonder, and it might sound strange, is he actually a bit shy? The bluster is a cover? Perhaps he is an ambitious shy bloke but he definitely would say absolutely anything to get in and the feeling is he tries to agree with everyone if poss. The one thing we are not going to lack is entertainment.
Personally I just don't want Jeremy Corbyn in Number 10 so whatever it takes to keep him out as I do think it would savage our economy for years.
Rory Stewart got knocked out because he took off his tie apparently.
Good for him! Let's get rid of silly ties. Whose terrible idea was it in the first place?
My bet on Saj a long time ago at 50-1 went under but it was a good price! Sadly seems a decent bloke, but his delivery was just too pedestrian.
I think he'd be a decent chancellor - good to have a chancellor who came from nowhere and understands business.
I can't believe a judge allowed a pedestrian who stepped out onto the road while looking at her phone to win over the cyclist who tried to avoid her.
The cyclist had to pay compensation. This is surely crazy, one suspects the judge is a cyclist hater.
As someone who cycles most days on the hoof phone users are causing all sorts of problems.
I spend most of my time trying to work out if a pedestrian on a phone is about to walk out straight into my path or not.
Worse is when it's shared pedestrian/cyclist space. There are zombie
phone users walking towards you all the time, head down, never looking up. Marching on. Their phone use more important than anything else and they are away with the fairies in another place.
Once two abreast I literally have to totally stop. When banging right into me, they look up come back to earth for a second before walking on right back into a trance like state.
In parts, where I cycle resembles a zombie movie though at least these zombies don't attack.
In Japan they have some walking zones for zombies only.
Is it time to make it an offence for people to walk straight into the road on their phones without looking? Surely as bad as someone texting in a car.
I am still the only non smartphone owner in the country and proud of it! I like being in the here and now.
Summer of Rockets (****) Just launched into this one (gettit?) (Launched? Oh never mind.)
A tale of a hearing aid salesman. I SAID A TALE OF A HEARING AID SALESMAN.
It's all filmed beautifully and the story is slow and laid back which makes a rather nice change for someone like me who sometimes gets lost in a plot.
It's menacing, sweet and funny all at the same time.
Handmaids Tale (****). Still chilling even after all this time. The new commander is considerate and helpful but also a bit bonkers which is fun.
Aunt Lydia (Booooo!) survived together with her trusty electric stick. One of the best villains ever.
Killing Eve (****) continues to be great fun. Some think it's got boring. But there are so many funny moments it is always a pleasure.
Two TV shows I have been avoiding for the worry of feeling a bit sick.
Me and my Sex Doll". I wonder what the climax of the show is?
And possibly worse: "OAP's on the Game".
Well I guess if I lose all on the markets I will just have to sell my body and could appear on that show.
Anyone want to make an offer? Start with a fiver? Anyone... ?
Tea and a custard creme included for afterwards...
SEMINAR NEWS
New date Sep 23rd 2019 near Heathrow
Email me for details at robbiethetrader with "Sep seminar interested". There
is a decent early bird discount on offer. Follow up if you have been before July 1.
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks.
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Some recent feedback:
He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Blimey is that the time? I have a family event to go to and running short of that essential so apologies if this is a bit rushed and there are a load of spelling mistakkes.
Surprisingly pretty strong markets with not much at the mo seeming to worry them.
Never mind about Iran, Brexit, or faltering economies. Everything is dandy.
It's pointless trying to figure it out. The markets are mad, bonkers and dysfunctional. In other words, just like us!
Apparently the reason things are strong is interest rate cuts look more likely in the States due to the possible faltering economy there. And so that is counted as good news. Short-term maybe, but longer... hold onto your hats?
It's been a quiet couple of weeks for me. I guess I'm just waiting for the two seminars coming up to find some new trades.
And the portfolio is ticking along fine, so I've been doing other things.
I've bought some Finablr (FIN). A strange one this - as they kept trying to float it the markets were going through a rocky patch and it was reported the float price would be around 210p-260p.
The company then slashed the float price to 175p after struggling
to find buyers over 200p. It then launched to an underwhelmed market and has struggled since,
It's in the payments area, an area which has seen a lot of profits for me in the last few years culminating in the recent bid for Safecharge where my profits came in at over £100,000.
It has lots of brands, the most famous is Travelex.
My thinking is in the 130s I'm getting in 20pc cheaper than the institutions and 40pc cheaper than what they thought they'd get so I suspect it must be value at this price.
But, given the market's lack of interest, it puts it in a risky category and if it carried on slumping I'll take a loss. But, if it starts to rise I might buy more -it's a question of whether the market takes to it or not.
The spread on it can widen dramatically but I got some on DMA. Be interesting to see if it finds a floor in the 130s or whether it is just simply a stinker! Worth a try here but exit important if no support!
As you know I like averaging up and I've bought some more Next Fifteen (NFC). I've been buying this since it was 180p ish in 2015 and it's now over 600p, it just gradually rises as time goes on, slowly but surely. Website profits if I sold now would come in at over £30,000 and a lot more personally.
Of course there is always time for profit taking but I am still a buyer.
With low net debt, and profits expected to be more than £47m next year, if I was a big PR firm I think I'd buy the whole company and bid for it. That's why I bought more rather than take profits.
The spread on this is always bonkers early doors and I tend to buy it at the sell price using DMA. If I have to buy outside DMA I wait till later in the day.
A reminder I have confirmation bias when it comes to Telecom Plus (TEP).
I am still a distributor and still hold certificates for shares bought at 18p, 82p and 130p ! These certificates are worth something like £400,000 so hands off!
Anyhow I bought some shares for the Isa on Tuesday after results to add to the ones bought lower recently. The thing that stood out for me was low churn, benefits from smart meters, and much better supply terms for energy.
The update shows there is probably upside to come as well as the 5% dividend - I get significant income from the share. All seems well - it uses distributors like me to sell gas, electric, phone, broadband and mobiles as well as insurance all one monthly bill.
Lower churn is probably because of added benefits for members such as all light bulbs replaced with new!
If you'd like to be a customer let me know (before the energy co who gave you that crazy price goes bust) and you'll also get my email free.
It goes ex-div for a whopping 27p on July 11th so should start the day down by roughly that amount. As a long-term hold with income it looks perfect (barring a Corbyn govt)
A reminder of how you have to be careful of ex dividend days - Cineworld went
ex today for a massive special 16p dividend ! If you didn't know this it could
have hit your stop or you could have panicked and sold!
Always take ex divs into account - remember usually shares go down by the
div amount on ex day.
Indeed four of my holdings went ex last Thursday -Sopheon, Next 15, Hollywood Bowl
and XP Power.
So in a month I should pick up nearly £3,000 in payouts.
It's amazing how much cash dividends can bring in. I suspect overall
this year including my sipp I would expect nearly £100,000 in divs. I'm out
of time and have to dash to a do.
Let's hope the strong markets continue!

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
