*****
The next follow up seminar for those who've been already is on May 16th at Heathrow, that's a further day with me and live markets, level 2, research and live trading followed on Sat 17th by a Technical Analysis seminar with friend and top trader Susan who covers charting, MACD, volumes and other TA for beginners in TA. If you're interested in either or both mail me with "follow up interested" "TA interested" or "Both interested". A discount for those booking both.
It was great to meet more of you lovely readers at the seminar on Monday. An enjoyable session with some lovely trades showing up! More later.
This must be the longest half term ever! We're spending Easter in Spain and the next update of the site will be on our return on April 30th.
With some shock I realised I forgot how to do simple minus sums without a calculator!
Christopher asked me for help with his maths and I struggled to minus 456 from 688! Where do you carry what from where? Goodness me. I'm only trade for a living, you can't really expect me to be any good at maths can you?
I sussed it out in the end... after 15 minutes. At least I can still add up and multiply.....
It's weird! From tomorrow we don't have Christopher for a week as he's off on
his school ski trip to Bulgaria.
They are being strict.. no contact allowed for the week.. he seems fine about it though we think the £10 per day pocket money allowance has something to do with it.. he has visions of a lot of sugar...
It will be brilliant for him, they have so many other activities lined up that I'm sure he won't miss us at all.
It will be strange. No football in the park, no homework, no routine, wake up calls, bedtime shananigans...
No trying to find a new place to hide my chocolates... (who will get to them first.. me, Christopher or the cleaner?)
A peaceful house for a week? What are we going to do with all that time? I can certainly think of a few things...
There are going to be tears at the airport...
We will miss him but I'm sure if you're a parent you know what I mean by the time and effort that's needed to make sure they have a good upbringing.
Those nights when you feel totally shattered.. and sometimes those tedious things that need doing that you really think.. I just don't have the energy but you get it from somewhere...
When he comes back we're here for a couple of days then we are spending most of the rest of half term and Easter in Spain.
We have a lovely rented apartment and Mrs NT's sister is coming over too. Christopher loves it as there are lots of kids around for him to play football with all day and we hope to get some sunny weather.
Lots of time by the pool and beach, exploring and relaxing... we can't wait!
We're now told 5 portions of fruit and veg aren't enough. We've got to eat a whole lot more.
Just as well men won't take any notice of this. Because if they did there would be so much farting going on in bed the divorce rate would treble.
Just wondering who to back in the Grand National. These days it's usually won by something around the 10-20/1 mark, I'll back three of those that don't have too much weight and look likely to jump round.
I do my sports betting now with
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader/sports
Brilliant site where you can spreadbet sports and fixed odds too.
An amazing seminar for me on Monday. Not only did I meet some lovely people, have great food and some brilliant trades came out of it.. but there was a brilliant moment for me.
As we finished level 2 I showed a few screens asking the audience, is this a good time to buy or not.. and, yes!! Loads had got it! And understood how important not buying a share is when there is plenty of supply.
That was so good. Equally good was the feedback from the event and a number of people really did decide to sell their crap shares. That is even better news.
It's been so rewarding too that I've been getting emails from people saying I changed their lives after they came to a seminar. Many of you have done so well and it's not just about me.. you made the effort and put the work and discipline in to trade properly.
Thanks to all of you for your great questions during the day and also your senses of humour! We really had a great laugh too!
If you'd like to come to a seminar the next one is on May 12th mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "May seminar interested" in the subject line.
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from the last one from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on MAY 12.
Price is £590 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "May seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling
Two shouty blokes were on the telly last night shouting. Both just like being on the telly.
Both are just attention seekers. Both make idiotic statements and at the crazy end of their particular arguments.
Out of the two though, don't you just hate Clegg? A vacuous man with no experience of anything except how to create more red tape, bureauocracy, and a hatred of letting anyone keep any of the money they made.
What's worse is the media training he's had. Every gesture is worked out, how to "communicate" with the audience that he actually really despises.
The papers put out their usual April fools stories, none of which fooled anyone because they were so dire and unfunny.
However April fools stories weren't needed as in the last week so many hilarious stories about that are absolutely true!
Where to start?
How about The Met Office says forecasters have cracked the formula to predict long-range weather...
Ha ha! I never laughed so much. It can't even manage tomorrow's let alone long-range. And in the past if you'd expected the opposite of its long-range forecast that would have been right.
How about another? The FCA which is supposed to protect us against news leaking into the market ahead of announcements and says information must be released immediately... erm.... leaks a market-moving story destroying share prices and then doesn't issue a correction promptly.
Regulators are seen as a joke and this doesn't help. The question now is who regulates the regulations and brings them to account.
Trouble is we assume regulators are in it for the common good and not interested in power, and bonuses. Of course they are just as bad as everyone else.
And another: Vince Cable reckons the pricing of Royal Mail shares was about right. Ha ha!!! Vince is a complete joke as business secretary, he couldn't run a Starbucks branch in Cornwall let alone the country's business.
And the funniest: England shirts being sold at £90 !! Ho Ho ho ho!!!!! £90!
I really hope all England fans boycott the shirts which must have cost £2 each to make in China.
Just buy a white T-Shirt and write England on it in black felt tip.
And if you really buy an England shirt for £90 don't expect to wear it to many games...
Getting through the first series of House of Cards on Netflix. I like saying Netflix, makes me sound cool and trendy till I admit (sssshhh!) I don't own a smartphone.
Brilliant performances and lovely writing, makes up for not being able to watch Breaking Bad anymore.
The hilarious Girls just finished so that's it for comedy.
W1A is okay but it is a little up itself in some ways and it's also a bit weird the BBC taking the p**** out of itself.
If you want a spreadbet on any sporting event such as the Grand National

A really great site for sports spread bets, remember you can back teams to do badly too!

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

We're soon to enter the often tricky spring and summer months. I have a feeling the markets won't do much this year but there will still be plenty of chances to make money with good stockpicking.
Thanks to the seminar on Monday, a few interesting new trades have come up for me I would never have found without having to work all day on trades!
In fact I realised something. Nearly all my trades come from seminars now. And that is frankly because I have become such a fat lazy cat I now only seem to do new research when I have to and that's when I'm in a room full of people all day watching me.
However this seems to be working well for me! Over the last two seminars I've collected a fantastic bunch of trades and trades to be, more than enough to last me till the next one!
Let me go into one example of a trade that came up at the last seminar in a bit more depth than the usual lazy me can be bothered to.
We were having a general discussion about stop losses and someone mentioned they had bought Playtech somewhere near the top and wished there had been a stop on it.
On looking at Playtech (Ptec)the fundamentals seemed pretty good and it had come down on general bad feeling towards its sector. And a director had sold.
But this had happened with the price way higher than it was on Monday.
And with fundies good I took a good look and the share bounced so many times off 655 that it looks a lovely trade with an easy plan.. buy at the support level, if it goes up keep buying. If it goes below the support level sell at a small loss and never mind.
If it keeps going up lob in a trailing stop loss to run profits... easy peeasy one.
Aim for where it topped out at before a few times, 750 ish around..
And with a view that the trade probably wouldn't be more than a couple of weeks or a month, a rolling spreadbet first and a bit in the ISA too.
So great risk rewards ratio. Going for 50-100 points using a trailing stop, get out fast if dips below support for a small loss.
So live I went in for 1,000 at 673.8 and a speadbet at 674
Since the trade shares have risen to near 700, with running profits of more than £1,000 and with a few different positions open I hope to take some profits soon, but run them if it carries on up.
I also bought ITE live on the day at 191. As I explained this one has got marked down 35% because of the Russia problems which I think is way too much.
Its business in the Ukraine is only 7% of its total and though the strong pound hurts it a bit, the company says so far its Ukranian business carries on fine and it doesn't think the crisis is hurting that much so far.
All in all the markdown looked way too much and that's why I bought looking for a return to at least the 220 area.
Late in the evening Scisys came up (SSY) and I got 5,000 at 86.
I like the look of the recent results and the general tone of it, and also it has low debt and a nice chart so looking for at least a rise up to a quid, maybe more in time. Maybe it will end up as a nice long-term tuckaway.
Also late on we discovered Powerflute (POWR) - it's a nice one looking to be in the middle of a re-rating, a very nice recent bullish statement and on top of that it has cash too.
I'm thinking POWR might do very well indeed so my plan is to hold this one for the longer-term. I got 25,000 at 34p.
There are some other trades too, but keeping those to myself for now (and those that came to the seminar).
Kromek came out with a horrible statement and I kicked them out pronto getting out just after the market opened at 55.8 for a loss of £620. I rarely deal first thing but this was such a poor statement and I was amazed they weren't marked down further early on. This loss was preventable, I simply hadn't been watching them and should have come out earlier as they had been weakening for a while. Still, as long as losses are smallish and wins are biggish, you can take a lot of losses and still be a big winner. Main thing though it to keep any big losses down and not hold onto the big losers.
Ftc had been weakening for a while and I had taken notice of that and had sold most of them at 49.1 except the ones I'd bought at 16p. They were sold at
for a profit of £5,340. However in the late 30's they look cheap now and I bought a few back yesterday - a director also bought some today.
Profits banked for the site time then are £4,720
Highlights
A pretty good week for the portfolio.
While the FTSE is volatile, some of my smaller ones at the moment don't seem to get that effected.
Accesso which has 6 timed for me has won yet more contracts. And it announced some cracking results.
Regeneris came up with a fund raising and acquisition the market really liked and this lovely one is now pushing 400. Brilliant stock and not long before I've doubled on it.
Servelec was appointed preffered bidder for a good contract and the market has liked that pushing up the price and that is proving a lovely trade.
Telit has suddenly become a big star of the portfolio, bought recently at 143 it has shot way over 200 to around 230.. market really likes this one now.
Recent buys Jelf, Gulf Marine and Helphire have all gone up a little bit, patience with all three will hopefully pay off in time.
Recent buy Mopowered keeps making nice announcements, new contracts and the like and they keep going higher.
Seeing Machines has come back a little probably on punter boredom but I think patience will pay off.
Monitise stuggles at 80p but it has nearly doubled now and six timed in my pension.
Kentz continues to be an amazing one and was happy to top up and very nice to see it happy in the 700s and knocking up to 800p, a tenner should be reached at some point.
Fusionex has taken off again the last couple of days and looks on a nice run up again. I have doubled. OPG Power has been a nice one for me and seems to have conquered 80. Indeed 90 looks next stop.
Long-termer Porvair has fired through the 300p now, what a great one. Nichols has come back a bit but suspect it will fizz up again soon.
Entertainment One is really going well now and 350 is great has been a wonderful long-termer.
Quindell put out a decent statement - and today confirmed a big contract renewal. There are all kind of dodgy market characters/gamblers/ in this one pushing the price about, driving pi's crazy with anything negative they can come up with: the equivalent of shady big drinkers in crumpled old suits. One day you might see them on a Friday night in a Paddy Power shop sadly putting their last tenner on a Greyhound race. I ignore all market noise have a laugh at it all and stay in from 18p.
Renew put out a very confident super statement been a lovely hold and a potential doubler soon. Keeps going up.
Telecom Plus has continues to look happy at around 1700-1800 for now. Given I bought loads at 100 it makes me very happy! It now means I have a massive stake in there worth nearly £700,000. The open positions on the website now total profits of £270,000. Distributors have just had a big meeting - the way they sell has been simplified and apparently the company is confident.
GB Group has doubled with giant profits building. BTG still looks like a long-term winner and its announcement today went down well.
RWS, Avon, CML and Loq, (now called accesso) are the long-term stars and all are shining so far this year. Six times on Accesso, trebled on CML, doubled on Avon and doubled on RWS.
*** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Dillistone so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link

TIGHTEST SPREAD FOR TRADING THE FTSE/DOW ETC
If you're into trading indices this one is the cheapest with just a 0.8 spread which is fantastic - execution is top too

If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.ig.com/nakedtradercfds
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on every other Wednesday afternoon.
