**Spend A Day With Me And Live Markets- May 12Th **
Read the book but want to see me do it all with live markets? If you want details on how to spend a day with me and live markets (beginners and improvers welcome) email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "May seminar interested" in the subject line and I'll send you details, more details below too.
*****
The next follow up seminar for those who've been already is on May 16th at Heathrow, that's a further day with me and live markets, level 2, research and live trading followed on Sat 17th by a Technical Analysis seminar with friend and top trader Susan who covers charting, MACD, volumes and other TA for beginners in TA. If you're interested in either or both mail me with "follow up interested" "TA interested" or "Both interested". A discount for those booking both.
Goodness me - a frantic couple of weeks with two seminars in a row (and one to come this Monday!) - had me knocked out last week.. more to come in a mo.
Christopher is shortly going on a one week school skiiing trip all on his own.
He hasn't been away from us for a single night yet and now he's off for a week!
I suspect there will be a few tears at the airport as we see him off for his trip to Bulgaria.
Still, he is going with teachers he knows and two are going from his age group and I bet he will be fine.
However we are a bit worried he's going to get nervous at the airport and refuse to go. But lucky for us we got a booklet from the school regarding the trip.
They're all getting ten quid a day pocket money. His eyes lit up probably thinking about the amount of sugar, sweets and chocolate ten quid is going to buy him. The lucky devils also get film nights and all sorts of other activities.
If he does go we get the first whole week on our own for nine years! Oooh, what will we do?
I'm thinking of the old days, a Saturday and Sunday morning in bed with the papers.. oohh baby
Maybe we'll wander round London, stop off for coffee and lunch and relax. No school things to worry about. No hanging about grim football pitches right where planes take off from Heathrow...
I'm sure all you parents out there know what I mean. Much though we love them, a break is rather nice.. and after nine years, it is going to be weird!
I'm a bit jealous of Christopher. Even though I'm crap at skiiing the school booklet on the trip makes it look amazing.
I did go on a skiiing trip once as a journalist supposed to do a write up.
As it happened on the first two days I speared right through the ski instructor's jacket with my sticks and then I lost control and went right into a cafe spinning into people having coffee knocking tables and chairs flying.
I guess I'm just not cut out for skiing or adventurous sports - what a wimp! But then as Shakespeare said "To Thine own self be true." So there. Not quite sure what that quote has to do with the story at all but I thought it sounded good.
It's been great fun sharing coffee and waffles and lunch with some of you in all the breaks -such an amazing and diverse bunch of people who all get on. Many laughs.
The first one was a follow up for a small group and I really enjoyed it and picked up one or two nice trades I would never have found on my own.
Great to see so many familiar faces, one of you has been to 7 of these events over the years. Jim, thanks so much for the amazing salmon!
I'm so glad some of you who've been to seminars before are doing so well and trading confidently and so many superb ideas. It is a real thrill for me to see you all trading so well.
And nice to meet some new people too at the second starter one. Interesting more women than usual attending this year. I reckon women potentially are better traders than men and less likely to let shares slip into massive losses.
The days flew by as usual but I could see many new friends being made and email addresses swapped, that's great! Indeed there was such an electric atmosphere it was quite hard for me to get restarted after the breaks with the buzz.
A really lovely bunch of warm and friendly people from all walks of life. I'm pretty sure some of you will do very well. I keep getting mails from people who've been to seminars and have gone into full-time trading. Brilliant.
After doing two I spend three days out for the count!!
It was worth it to get all your lovely feedback, thank you so much! Many of you are now using level 2 to great effect, as I say the main thing is it stops you buying something you could get at a better price another time.
Anyway the final one for a while is coming up on Monday, so look forwards to seeing some of you on Monday. I really enjoy these days and meeting readers. Every one ends up being a bit different as it all depends on who is there and sometimes there are some very different roads we end up in.
Often seminars are also great for my trading as inevitably in all that time some shares come up that I might not otherwise have spotted and researched.
So selfishly hoping to discover something new myself! Those of you coming on Monday doors open 9.30am... follow the signs to Naked Trader..
Please remember I am paying for your parking but you MUST give your reg number in to reception or else you will get a parking ticket!
Please come and register from 9.30am and then find a seat - coffees will be there waiting for you and there is coffee and tea on tap all day. The chef promises me there will be great snacks and lunch! It better be good or there will be trouble..
Grab a coffee and some choc and just relax, I promise to be gentle with you all. I hope you all enjoy the day, as it's live from the markets who knows what will come up. And as you know I talk plain English with none of that idiotic jargon. See you there!
If you can't make it the next one is on May 12th mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "May seminar interested" in the subject line.
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from the last one from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
New Date: May 12 Near Heathrow
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on MAY 12.
Price is £590 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "May seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling
I assumed when I sat down to watch the budget there wouldn't be anything in it of interest.
All I was hoping for would be no cap on ISAs given the amount I have in mine. So I was rather pleasantly surprised.
Indeed it was surprisingly an excellent budget. 15k into Isas, cash or shares, no longer necessary to buy poor value annuities on pensions.
Actually helping savers and no longer treating us like idiots unable to manage our own pots, brilliant!
Such a lovely refreshing change from the nannying Labour lot. They reckon pensioners will be going out buying flash cars. Pretty unlikely.
Maybe some real power stairlifts...
Ed Millibore's response to the budget was awful. He read out some kind of hackneyed speech with the same tired cliches, indeed his speech had nothing to do with a response to the budget. Hopeless.
So hopeless it even gave me slim hope the depressing and anti doing anything good with your life Liblabs won't win the next election together so that is still slim.
I say well done George. Shame he looks like a sneaky deputy head boy but it isn't his fault.
It looks likely there'll be a Lib-Lab coalition, so God help you if you have any money, they'll grab it. And expect to be hectored and nannied and not allowed to have any success at all. That is frowned on. Fancy you wanting to make some money and be a success! How bad you are!
Oh no! We finished Breaking Bad! How is it possible to watch any drama again after that?
Not a dull moment in the whole series and we already miss Walt.
It has to be the best series ever and look forwards to seeing it again in a few years time, if you haven't seen it yet get to it!
Still, there is some good news, a spin off series featuring dodgy lawyer Saul is on its way and there is some gossip Jessie will be in it a little.
Okay it's onto House of Cards next and at least we have the brilliant Girls for comedy and repeats of Curb.
OMG I tried the Michael Mcyintyre chat show. Half a million quid they paid him for that rubbish?
Got to be the worst show ever, a real embarrassment. No real chat, just brown nosing and some tedious long-winded mucking about. What a waste of time and money and you can see why they buried it late on a Monday night.
And why does the BBC continue to waste so much money on stuff like this? How many licence fees? Time for it to go on subscription. The licence fee is an old dinosaur that needs killing off.
If you're a Fulham FC fan it is just possible you might be grateful that Christopher was at the Newcastle game.
We're in the front row. One of our players is about to take a throw in and is looking around to see who to throw it to.
Christopher shouts into the player's ear: "Pass it to Holtby".
Said player then does just that and within 30 seconds a goal was scored. And it was there on Match of the Day! Christopher recorded shouting instructions the cheeky little so and so... if we stay up, you know who to thank...
From now on he is known to me as Christopher "pass it to Holtby" Burns...
If you want a spreadbet on any sporting event try

A really great site for sports spread bets, remember you can back teams to do badly too!

I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

A reminder next seminar is May 12, the March 31st event is sold out Mail me for details at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "May seminar interested" in the subject line.

Well as I mentioned somewhere above, what a great budget for us traders! £15k into Isas, no more annuities, trading costs coming down, there has never been a better time to trade tax free.
It certainly makes Sipps worth looking at if you don't have one.
I've managed to get the original 30k I had in my BSKYB pension up to 400k now in my sipp without adding any extra money though it has taken me 12 years!
I never really considered it money that was real as you had to buy a cruddy annuity with it worth 5k for every 100k saved. But now you can take it as you like it makes a big difference and it becomes real money. Quite right too.
Overall at the mo the markets are a bit unhappy with the Russia problems and slower China causing nervousness as well as the thought of interest rates rising. I guess a big downswing could happen but for right now it seems more nervousness than terror.
Goodness. Just when I thought I was relaxing and really wasn't intending to trade much till September, I did two seminars and so many trades were thrown up that I made quite a few live trades at both events and more after too. I just couldn't resist them with the market trading lower.
So I just wasn't expecting it! Without the seminars I suspect I'd have done nothing. But the follow up seminar produced 5-6 very nice-looking ideas and also the one I did on Monday this week, well a whole load came up.
And on top of that there have been a load of interesting new issues.
So... I have actually done loads of trades. Loads and loads. Completely unexpected and I blame the seminars.
Thing is and sorry to be boring I just don't have the energy/inclination/too tired or whatever you might call it to cover them all (after all each involves work in me having to cover them in the future) or even half of them or even a quarter on the site here - those of you who came to the seminars will know the ones I am talking about...
However I will do my best to cover one or two of them at least or go on then maybe three or four. The rest I am afraid I am going to keep to myself and those that came to the seminars. Maybe if I feel more rested I'll publish a few more next time.
I bought some Helphire (HHR) at 6.6 at the follow up and a few more at 6.7 at Monday's event - looks an interesting recovery play.
HHR looked down and out a while ago but it has turned around with a restructuring and now has loads of cash and even better a return to profit. Of course being early in the story there is some risk but worth the risk.
IPO fever has hit the market. If there is any sign the market is topping that might be it... but still there may be something in them for a bit anyway,
Pets At Home came to market..so I got the allocation as everyone else of 450 at 245 and bought some more at 235.5. It's just a tuckaway for me.. maybe I am barking mad.
Probably even more barking bad I got some Poundland. Not at the 300 as pi's weren't invited but got them at 371 on the spreads. I'm not sure yet whether to hang onto them as whether buying into a company that can never put up its prices is a sensible move I'm not sure.
However my favourite new issue is Gulf Marine Services (GMS) (Not to be confused with a separate company with the same start word bought by mug punters everywhere) ...
Looks like the only obviously cheap new issue.
It's oils services and I wonder if it could become like another Kentz.
I was quite surprised at being able to buy somewhere near the issue price and got most of mine around the 148-151 area.
I intend to sit on these and hoping for at least 50% upside in time barring a market crash. Crap! Did I say market crash? Oooops, sorry. Taking of Kentz I added some live on a spreadbet at a seminar.
Jelf (JLF) is one I've never come across, but it came up again at a seminar. I waited for demand to outweigh supply and got some at 109.
Statements are very strong and it used up a load of cash to buy up another company.
But this should make profit grow and the debt it now has is just within my parameters.
JLF looks to me like one that could just get a rerating sooner or later so I am in and will stay patient.
And another that came up at one of the seminars was KBT (KBT) Business and I bought some at 195.
I love the look of the very strong recent statements together with the increasing profits. Looks to me as if the share price should be a lot higher.
The only fly in the ointment is that it has some debt which isn't onerous but it might possibly need a fund raising some point not too far away.
Ttr hit a rocky patch, I sold some around 72 but now way overdone on the downside and looking to pick some new ones up in the 50s. I sold some Arrow around 250 as it peaked at my target 260 and was looking weak on the order book.
A short or two came up: I shorted some Photo-Me PTHM at 146. We did level 2 and this one looked very weak with loads of sellers around. A nice company actually so I don't expect to be short for long but 150 looks the top for a bit. Also shorted GNS which came up on a potential list of shorts. It has a very weak chart and looks overpriced. For beginners reading this by the way shorts mean I am betting on them to go down. Hey hang on a minute! That is more trades than I was going to mention. That is IT for now.
Highlights
The portfolio held up pretty well when the market turned down.
While the FTSE is volatile, some of my smaller ones at the moment don't seem to get that effected.
Telit has suddenly become a big star of the portfolio, bought recently at 143 it has shot way over 200 to around 230.
The market seems to like recent announcements from Telit and I was tempted to take a little profit but level 2 looks so strong I have stayed in.
Recent buy Mopowered keeps making nice announcements, new contracts and the like and they keep going higher.
Talking of nice announcements, Seeing Machines reported another contract win this morning. It should keep doing this and patience with this one I think is going to pay off well.
Oh and in more nice announcements Accesso which has 6 timed for me has won yet more contracts.
Monitise stuggles at 80p but it has nearly doubled now and six timed in my pension.
Kentz continues to be an amazing one and was happy to top up and very nice to see it happy in the 700s and knocking up to 800p, a tenner should be reached at some point.
Fusionex got sold off a bit but is coming back now but I have still doubled. OPG Power has been a nice one for me and seems to have conquered 80. Indeed 90 looks next stop.
Long-termer Porvair has fired through the 300p now, what a great one. Nichols has come back a bit but suspect it will fizz up again soon.
Entertainment One is really going well now and 350 is great has been a wonderful long-termer.
Quindell is stuck in the mid 30s waiting on results next week. Renew put out a very confident super statement been a lovely hold and a potential doubler soon. Keeps going up.Communisis can't seem to manage to beat 70p.
Telecom Plus has continues to look happy at around 1800 for now. Given I bought loads at 100 it makes me very happy! It now means I have a massive stake in there worth nearly £700,000. The open positions on the website now total profits of £270,000. Distributors have just had a big meeting - the way they sell has been simplified and apparently the company is confident.
GB Group has doubled with giant profits building. BTG still looks like a long-term winner.
Regeneris has regenerated and whizzed back over 300 and now looking at potentially 350.
RWS, Avon, CML and Loq, (now called accesso) are the long-term stars and all are shining so far this year. Six times on Accesso, trebled on CML, doubled on Avon and doubled on RWS.
*** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Dillistone so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far.

TIGHTEST SPREAD FOR TRADING THE FTSE/DOW ETC
If you're into trading indices this one is the cheapest with just a 0.8 spread which is fantastic - execution is top too

If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.ig.com/nakedtradercfds
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on every other Wednesday afternoon.
