**Best Financial Educational Provider, International Finance Awards.**
Mail me at robbiethetrader with " June seminar interested" and I'll send you details. There is a decent early bird discount on offer. It's already more than
half sold.
Follow up seminar: June 18th. For those who have attended a seminar before.
A day of live trading, research, and sorting out problems. If interested
mail me with follow up interested in the subject line. (England world
cup game live after the seminar in the bar!)
We're off to the states midweek in a couple of weeks so
the next update will now be June 14th.
I'm sorry if you emailed me and haven't had a reply yet.
I've got inbox fatigue. Are you feeling the same this week?
Bombarded with people who don't want to let you go. And firms
wanting to tell you all about their exciting new privacy policy.
There are just so many I'm not sure I can even pick up the real
emails from the company ones. Especially today. Help!!
It's like death by email. Does anyone really expect anybody
is going to read through a privacy statement? Even one?
And all the needy company emails begging you to stay. Some are
even offering prizes or cash or prize draws.
Still maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel (Nice cliche pulled out
there!) . Could it all stop next week?
I haven't clicked on any of it. They can all get stuffed!
Though if the privacy ones carry on I'll set up an auto reply.
Use any details about me you like, I don't care anymore. Bombard
me with adverts for Twix Bars - go for it!"
Another interesting seminar for me. Always amazes me all the different
occupations. Name it, we had it!
Need a solicitor? We had one! A police officer? Guitar teacher?
Plumber? Air traffic controller? Pilot? Doctor?
Yes, we had them all ! Thank you all for coming and for the feedback
coming in. We had a great laugh and lots of promising
trades showed themselves.
I can't give it all a mention but here is a clip from Chris:
Thank you for your generosity and a memorable day which I think has just given me the missing pieces to the jigsaw puzzle! Not only were you brilliant, but the grub and stuff was a real treat too! My only criticism is that the clock ran too fast!
The level 2 bit was a revelation as I have only seen it used before with the FTSE100 stocks and couldn't see how anything moving at that speed could make sense. Now having seen how you apply it to smaller stocks was a 'EUREKA' moment so thank you I've taken the ADVFN level 2 subscription out as I now know without it I'm buying and selling in the dark."
Amazed so many of you stayed so late, well done to those
who sampled the "reward" at the end!
I know it's a lot to take in on one day, I expect a lot of you were
tired the next day. I'm out for the count for at least days after.
The Mr Whippy machine broke again! But the hotel rescued us with
lots of chocolate ice-cream!
If you want to come to the next one, June 29th please be
aware it is already over half sold and I don't intend on
doing anymore till well into the autumn.
We're off to Wembley on Saturday to watch our team
Fulham try to beat Aston Villa to get back in the Premier League
So next season the first game could either be VS Man City..
or Blackburn.
We had a fantastic win over Derby. Even a pitch invasion!
At Fulham!
The stewards couldn't so much about it. In fact one 80-year-old
struggled for ages trying to get over an ad hoarding. One of
the stewards and some others helped him over!
It was like a great giant party, great fun.
Apparently a win is worth £170m to the winning club. Bonkers
really. So it is off on a packed tube on Saturday.
My son is nervous as hell. I don't mind that much if we lose.
At least in the championship you can win games. Both Fulham
and Aston Villa sold out their tickets so should be an amazing
atmosphere.
It should be a decent game between two good footballing sides.
As always it is fine margins and let's hope it doesn't go to penalties.
I've told my son to pretend we already lost beforehand so it's
not too disappointing for him if we do. But last year when we
lost in the playoffs he was only cross for 30 minutes and all he
did was throw his Tom Cairney shirt down the stairs!
We're in the run-up to Christopher's common entrance exams. It
has been hell for him as he isn't academic and he finds sitting down
concentrating to be really difficult.
So lots of getting to bed early, decent food. He seems more confident
now he can do it. A few months ago he felt he couldn't. He goes
to a fantastic school to hope they get him through.
The new SB books should be out any day and hope to have
some available at the follow up sem and the starter/improver.
I hope you'll find lots of hints, ideas etc on how to use spreadbetting
and think about it as an excellent addition to isas.
I hope you all have a great bank holiday and some nice heat
among the showers.
We have friends of the family visiting so we're going to do a
lovely brunch and then probably off to the adventure playground!
Naked Rambling
Sad to see Marks and Sparks doing so badly. I really
think within five years it will have gone.
Its clothing side will be closed down or go all online. The
food side is ok but I think it will simply be taken out
buy Waitrose and the Waitrose and M and S food offerings
will be merged.
It just didn't move with the times. The 84-year-old lady I speak
to for the lonely old charity says she stopped buying clothes there
ages ago. It doesn't know which market it is going for.
It needs to immediately close all its clothing departments,
concentrate on food only. And become half the size to survive.
Sadly this is just the start, in a few years time shopping centres
will disappear except for the very biggest.
Did you enjoy the royal wedding? I didn't really watch much.
The mrs and her friend watched it all, they didn't cry that much!
I did see the American preacher going on.. and on.. and on..
I reckon the Queen has a handy hearing aid switch which went to off.
The country's fave choc bar is Dairy Milk.
According to my research at the seminar it was Kit Kat and Twix.
Mine is Twix and I can't believe it only comes in at Number 7!
I was addicted at one point to number 13, mint aeros.
Wow, Hugh Grant is sensational playing Jeremy Thorpe! A
fantastic entertaining drama based on Thorpe's life and
his interactions with men.
Also, a brilliant look at the 60s and how attitudes slowly began
to change to gays.
Million Pound Menu with that annoying Fred from first dates.
He is so annoying! And he isn't even needed here.
Two young women were "Offered between £750k and £1m" to
start a restaurant.
Lovely though they were, all they really did was cook a bit. They
didn't show much of anything else. No understanding of costs,
how to run one.
So I thought the guy offering them the money just enjoyed being
on TV and I bet we never hear about this again and it will all
fall through. It must. It doesn't make any sense otherwise.
The whole thing was rather underwhelming. I'll stick with
Dragons Den.
The new series of the Handmaid's Tale is just as good as the
last one. As in absolutely horrendous to watch.
Some of the scenes I watched between my fingers. Interesting to
see them developing the back story of how a future Us was turned
into a different and awful society.
Even worse, you could even imagine it happening. Some brilliant
acting from all concerned and a must watch.
Two series on now about human robots! I haven't watched the
new "Humans" yet, on the list.
Westworld. I just can't work out whether I like it any more or not. The
last episode was hard to watch and I find the storyline very hard to
follow. I'm giving it one more !
High Maintenance and Crashing are two excellent below the radar
intelligent comedies on Sky Atlantic. Watch if you can!
The Americans continues to be blistering on ITV 4. Again I would
suggest watch the series from the start, first few I think are
on amazon.
A big thanks to reader Carl who knows someone working in the FX
department for Game of Thrones.
Info is the final series is being filmed at the mo, should be complete
end of July and shown early next year.
But even more exciting news! According to Carl, 6 new standalone
movies loosely connected to GOT are in the planning stage and...
a series set before the current events!
So looks like a lot more GOT to come !
The second most popular password is apparently "f***you"!
Charming! Mine is "Twixesarethebest". Don't tell anyone though.
(uppercase "T" btw, I know how to fool hackers.)
SEMINAR NEWS
May 21st is sold out so doing an extra date on
June 29th near Heathrow.
Email me for details at robbiethetrader with "June seminar interested". The last three have been sold out well before time so don't leave it too late. There is a large early bird discount.
Beginners and improvers welcome. Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks.
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Some recent feedback:
He actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
When I signed up to your course my goal was to make 20% p.a., I've achieved that in less than six months. Your course was pretty much going to be my last attempt at trading, So once again thank you, it's by far the best money I've ever spent on trading education and probably on education full stop."
I felt we were in for a long day of numbers, PowerPoints and dry talk.
Instead, what we got was fascinating and enjoyable mix of punchy insights, merriment and wise-cracks, sharp wit, and to the point no nonsense advice. I sat down at 9:45am and didn't look at the time again until way after 8pm at which point I had to drag myself away."
I read your books and understood the words "" however I was missing that final nugget of knowledge "" actually seeing you valuate a company and make that buy/no buy decision live means I now get it."
LOTS OF LOVELY DISCOUNTS HERE!!!
My new spreadbet book will be published in June.

MARKETS
EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Well, the FTSE hit new heights. I was tempted to short
at 7900 but I was in a lazy mood, watched TV and
before I knew it it was way lower.
Some great trader I am.
But I suppose it goes to show how fast sentiment can
change.
I've bought Rosenblatt, (RBGP) a law firm.
Listed law firms have been doing well and this one looks very decent.
It feels like this is a kind of "disrupter" law firm. Headed up by a
very experienced CEO Nicola Foulston.
A great interview with her here:
The interview tells you all you need to know! She wants
to drive this company into the future using different techniques
to most.
Her no nonsense approach looks good to me, I really like her
and what she says.
Profits are booming
here and decent dividends will be paid.
I am in for the long-haul and have tucked away in the isa for
a three year view.
I bought some H&T (HAT) - we discussed at the seminar. Spread
is quite wide, I tried hard to get some at the seminar live
at the sell price using DMA but no luck.
So the next day I sighed and paid full price, darn it.
It's a pawnbroker, money lender, gold trader and all that. It has
a decent high street presence and a good reputation.
A higher gold price helps and apparently bad times is good for it.
So if there are bad times, a decent defensive share.
I bought some Cerillion (CER) after results a few days ago.
It is a billing, charging and customer relations management]
software provider. Yes, Cerillion NOT Carillion !! (maybe
a name change would be helpful)
Earnings were hit by currency movements otherwise it would have
been a very good performance.
Looking forwards, it seems to have bright prospects. Net cash
has doubled and the dividend has been lifted. Ex dividend
date was actually today, so I pick up the loot in a few weeks.
It has a very strong order book and I wonder whether it will use
cash to make acquisitions. A nice tuckaway!
I bought some Superdry (SDRY). Bought some live at
the seminar. You may remember I made a decent
sum shorting it recently. I came out of the short way too early sadly!
We had a very good look at it at the seminar and after some big
falls it looks like very good value indeed.
So from shorter I am now long! It sells mid range fashion. One of
its problems is that middle-aged dads are going round wearing
its stuff much to the annoyance of teenagers!
Its stores seem stagnant like the rest of the high street but online
looks decent.
At the current price it looks cheap, especially with a decent cash
pile. This isn't one I expect to hold onto for long - I am looking for a bounce
up to the 1400 area where I would take profits. Much of a move
below 1200 and I'm off!
And I bought Computacentre. (CCC) Again not one
I intend to hold foreever but it looked cheap when we
discussed it at the seminar and again bought live.
Continues to grow nicely and one or two delegates actually
use the company and rate it.
I made some money on it recently but sold way too early.
Hopefully this time I will have more patience!
I've nearly taken profits on the Pets At Home short after some not so
great results.
When I say nearly taken, I keep hovering over
banking the profits but every time I look it keeps going
down some more.
It's been a great short and exceeded my expectations
but if there is more down to come will take it.
I think what
I will do is lob a stop loss (or stop win) around 140ish and
keep lowering it as it drops.
Alliance Pharma has really motored this week - and there was
a reassuring statement today which looks good. Great pipeline
and I wonder for the first time whether it could attract a bid?
At least
after knocking around 90 it can move up to 100p.
Hollywood
Bowl put out a lovely report and goes up. Strike! Other
big climbers include Avon Rubber (keep on bouncing!).
One disappointment
is ETO. Just about clinging on to recent top up but well
up on much earlier buys.
Two lovely ones, Next Fifteen
and Safecharge quietly rise gently every day bringing in
very big bucks. Dignity has seen a good rise.
And well NMC, what a performer! Huge profits here.
Iomart is trying to get over 400p. Another lovely long-termer with massiveprofits.
GB Group has been climbing fast and sitting near all time highs. A pure delight
over the years with over £100,000 profit.
Sopheon hit 1000p before profit taking
came in. But it could easily go above that with a push. NWF has pushed
over 200. K3C is consolidating over the 300p mark. Can it
have another go at heading back up to 400?
Overall very pleased with progress but again I remain cautious
after recent rises . First half of June can be rocky.
Watch out if you fall badly ill in Leeds this week.
Davina McCall is there in A and E, live.
Can you imagine being at death's door, lying in A and E
and you see her coming up to you with a mike.
She starts babbling excitedly and holds the mike next to
your dying breath.
But at least in that dying breath you manage to say your last words.
Davina. Please. Just F*** off !"

EXTRA INCOME FROM HOME
When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
