We raised £944! A few fivers will let us over a grand, if you could manage that

I've just voted in the London mayor vote. I voted Goldsmith though frankly he isn't exactly inspiring. Nor are the others. My second vote went to the Women's Equality party. No idea why except women should be equal!

A Conservative lady asked for my address outside. "Just to ensure I don't knock you up later...." she said. (Yes I know there was a witty but sexist repost to be had). Well, it was a very slow day in the booths.

I always encourage Christopher to play footie with the kids from the nearby estate in the park.

It's good for him to mix with all kinds of people not just the privileged world he is lucky enough to be in, in his posh little prep school. He seems to be the only "Posh" kid who does. I tend to stick around a bit to check he's ok.

This week one of them proudly gave him a lesson: er"¦ in how to shoplift from the corner shop.

It was something to do with how to position your hoodie in the right way to enable the energy drink to disappear into it without the shopkeeper noticing it"¦.

I'm hoping this new skill isn't one he is going to have to use..

We have a busy few days ahead!

Saturday off to go to a school open day. Sunday it's my young son's triathlon. And Monday it's a long day as it's the seminar in deepest Heathrow.

I am lucky enough to be able to send Christopher to a nice boarding school where I think he will thrive - he loves the company of other boys and spor

I do know how lucky we are. I went to a boarding school myself at 13. My parents didn't have much but lucky for me my father's parents were well off and paid the fees.

But how lucky are the kids whose parents can afford it? On joining they get a lovely room with just three or four others.

When I joined my school it was a massive dorm with 35 beds! It was horrible and I hated it!
But nowadays kids can come home whenever they want, every weekend.

The facilities at the school we are keen for him to go to are awesome. Incredible sports facilities with football academies, gyms, pools, pitches.

And so many ways to enable the boys to find what they are good at. The sports coach at the one we really love is incredible and has even written a book on sports psychology.

Frankly I'm jealous. I wouldn't mind being 13 again and starting again at one of these schools.

I was brought up in fear mainly as I had an alcoholic father and I never did much at school.
Really, you can see where the £30,000 a year plus goes with these places. Let's hope now he can do enough in the exams to get into the one we like a lot so he can develop his football, and other talents he has such as drama. I'm confident if he gets in this school will find his talents and help him to achieve.

Right I'm off to the corner shop to develop my shoplifting skills"¦

Seminar news: Next Monday July 11th
Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "July seminar interested" in the subject line.

Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!

My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.

A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2! If you've been to a seminar before there is a follow up with live trading on May 23rd, mail me if interested in that.

Here's some feedback from from "D"

'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.

The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.

This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News

July 11th 2016 NEAR HEATHROW
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on July 11th

Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a substantial discount on offer for first ten to book. Mail me for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "July seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Capital offer

Spreadbetting firm Capital Spreads offers a great book on how to spreadbet for readers via this link http://www.capitalspreads.com/ntrader
Its spreads are surprisingly tight and interestingly an automated stop loss is applied to each trade - so beginners know what their max loss is from the outset. A super site for beginners.

Did you know there is a Mayoral election going on in London today?

Wouldn't be surprising if you didn't with two of the most uncharismatic main candidates ever.

You really can't imagine either putting much energy into the role.

I reckon if one of the vote possibles was: "Let's not bother having a Mayor at all" that would be the winner.

Just take the money it would cost to have the major and hand it out to all the Big Issue sellers. Anyway as stated above I voted for Goldsmith followed by the women's equality party!

Meanwhile Lord Sir Sugar of Alan in his usual shy manner said if he'd been up for mayor he'd have won easily. Well, probably right, people seem to vote for whoeever is in charge of "The Apprentice".

Can you believe Donald Trump (The USA Apprentice in chief) is one step away from being US President? It does feel pretty scary.

Anyway he says we're "gonna love President Trump". If there was a movie where a US president pressed the nuke button, you could imagine his finger on it couldn't you?

I bet David Cameron is wishing he never said Trump was "stupid and wrong". Won't be long till a helicopter hovers over the Cameron house, Cameron is forced into it. There sits Trump. "What was that about me being stupid?"

Amazing and fantastic for Leicester to win the Premier League. We were all rooting for them. Shows how teamwork can win the day. It was fun watching the bad-tempered Spurs and Chelsea players battle out the draw.

Also shows how yes, you can achieve the impossible, even making money on shares. But as with everything, you have to work at it.

Moderate Labour MPs must be thinking "how can we get rid of the bonkers crazy old farts now in charge?"

It's a bit like one of those movies when the old codgers (I am an old codger myself so allowed to say it, na na) stage their last heist. Trouble is Corbyn and co are going to bodge it right up. As for Ken Livingstone, looks like he is having a great time causing as much trouble as he can before retiring with his newts.

Game of Thrones seems as good as ever on the first two new episodes.

Who'd have thought the red witch who has seduced any man she fancies by whopping 'em out was actually 674 years old?

No wonder she's been so grumpy the whole series. I'm not really so excited at Jon Snow's re-appearance. Not the most rivetting of characters.

A couple of main characters axed, mostly the older ones to make way for a few new ones. And evil psychopath seems to be getting even worse feeding all and sundry to the dogs. Can't imagine a can of pedigree chum doing much for them these days.

All I know is, if I ever needed to employ a security guard Brienne of Tarth gets the job....

Olivia Colman in yet another show! This time Flowers which was a bit bonkers but kind of fun too though not seen all of it yet.

There must be loads of female actors out there going crazy that she gets all the parts. If you've not tried "The Americans" currently being repeated on a channel no-one sees, ITV Encore.. give it a go from the beginning. You can probably get a DVD or download it from somewhere.

Good place for spreadbets and fixed odds for sport (and the EU vote) is here...

Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

Dave writes :
I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.

I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.

Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!
Gary writes :
"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.

The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.

I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!

Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!

Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !

Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.

I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites

genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

New offer: £50 or £100 off Stockopaedia and free trial

I rarely do offers - Forex companies in particular offer me eyewatering sums. I turn all this down as I would never put out an offer for a company where I think my reader will 95% likely lose, or be taken for a ride.

Having had lots of mails from people using Stockopaedia and using it myself I am 100% confident.

After finishing my psychology book (out soon!) I'm doing a new edition of the spreadbetting one as I wrote than in 2010 (FFS where does the time go, I was still nearly young then!)
Time and spreadbetting has moved on and the publisher has nagged me for three years to update it and I've caved. I can't take one more nag.
I am looking for your spreadbetting stories!
Did you have a total disaster, an awful run of trades? Did you try and trade indicies, gold,, oil etc and come horribly unstuck? Did you blow up your account.
Horror stories welcome. What happened? Why did you lose? Or were you losing then started winning? How did you change?
What have you learned about yourself from spreadbetting? How did you feel your psychological make up contributed to losses or gains? What mistakes would you tell a beginner to avoid. Did you use too much leverage?
All stories welcome. If you don't want your name published give a false one! And as always your email addresses are safe with me as are your details, I never ever pass anything on to anyone.
Stories should be less than 300 words if poss and send to me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "sb story in the subject line.

If I use your story and you include your post address in your mail I'll send you a free copy when it is published. I won't be replying to your story but please accept my thanks for sending it, perhaps free therapy for writing it down!

I am visiting spreadbet firms too so if you ever were dying to have a question answered (I can be Paxman for you!) send me your question! Try not to make them too technical. Maybe something along the lines of "Why do the b

always just hit my stop and then the price moves straight back up?" !

Anyway I will try and get questions answered and any stories you have may well help a beginner.

Onto trading then.
I bought some Osirium Tech (OSI) for the isa after buying some for the high risk SIPP (as those of you who get the mail service are aware).
This is higher risk idea, a recent new issue that is impossible to value but it is in the cyber security arena which the market likes at the moment.
It helps protect companies to protect and transform their IT security services. The management team looks experienced and it has a lot of decent investors on board. It's basically a bit of a gamble but to smaller money looks worth a shot. I think what I'll do with it is sell if it goes below its issue price of around 156 but try and keep hold of it if it proves a success.
It is unusual for me to deal in one with such a small cap in my isa but it will only be a tiny % of my whole pot so no big deal.
Talking security I bought back into much bigger security company NCC (NCC) which I have been in before. I bought it again as it seemed to reach oversold levels this week and hopeful it can regain the 320 level for a nice 20% rise.

It produced a recent pretty decent statement that most is on track.
I've been a holder of Avon Rubber (AVON) for years since it was 2 quid and made a substantial amount on them. Indeed as I still had them in my ISA I kept one website pos open and that is up by many thousands.
I have now bought a totally new position in AVON. It now looks well undervalued and no reason why it can't head back up over a tenner for some new good gains.
It has two divisions: defence, so it supplies masks and stuff and also a dairy division which hasn't done so well.
Its statement this week was very positive, highlights a 30% hike in dividend, likely new military orders on the way, and own brand milk sales are growing. Looks a nice one to pick up at under a tenner and there is a good chance perhaps of 1100p here in time. Nice and safe tuckaway. It can be a bit volatile as the order book gets thin.

Final buy is this morning actually - Empresaria (EMR) - those of you who get my sipp email know I managed to sell them at target around a quid a while back though I kept my ISA shares and the website pos (though in hindsight should have taken profits there too).
Since then they have come back to a very tempted re-buy price and the statement today had me reaching for the buy button for an other run-up to the 100p plus mark from here.

Under the radar undervalued here with good prospects - it has acquisitions in the pipeline with good trading in Europe and recent client wins. So could be a nice one for 20% upside. Possibly more in time.
I can't remember the last time I got an unexpected profits warning which savaged one of mine, but however careful you are it can happen. St Ives issued an absolute dire warning, not only for this year but for next and there seemed to be no reason whatsoever to do anything but get rid and come back somewhere a lot further down the road. Lucky for me the share doesn't owe me much as I already made a lot of money on it and in fact was holding from such a lower price that altogether I still managed another profit - just the top ups got savaged. Anyway I went as fast as poss making a profit overall of £609 - losses on the top ups of £1186 and £1104 with a profit of £2,899 on the older trade.
Always worth considering lessons to be learned on a share plunge. But really here there wasn't a clue: Just in March the company said it was confident and there wasn't a sign of anything as bad as the statement just a few weeks later. There's nothing much you can do about this except it is a reminder to have a good balanced portfolio without too much in one share so your capital isn't hit by one share going wrong. Another thing is not to try and "get money back" from a loser and start to try and chase it. That tends to end up in failure. It's off my screen for now for that reason.
IPEL just couldn't get above the 850p area so I decided for now anyway to bank some profits on it selling at 840 to bank £475 and £141, total profit £616.
Actually today it released a good statement so will have to research it again and re-consider a new entry point.
Flowgroup proved a fantastic trade! I sold some day before results just in case - just as well as they started to tumble. Got out of the rest quite quickly on results as the market seemed sniffy.
Profit is £1,963 on most recent buy and a profit of £5,115 on the earlier one giving a grand total profit of £7,078 on both trades.
It's pretty hard to value and given it might have to raise more money will look for another profitable trade on it soon.
So total profit for the website after all that is a nice £7,694
The FTSE short at 6407 now has a stop at 6320 so whatever happens now I should make a good profit. If it keeps dropping then I'll keep dropping the stop.
Elsewhere Character Group produced a nice statement though shares didn't react much, maybe the market thinks they are a bit boring or waiting more news on teletubby sales. I'm going to hold on tight - shares have risen a bit anyway. Recent trades have done quite well - Telecom Plus is trying to get over the tenner mark and Pets At Home's price purrs nicely.
GB Group is trying for 300! Trades are now up £32,000 but personally I've made more than £100,000 on these. Some lovely rises from some recent buys. YU Group has seen a nice lift. So too CMC, Vectura and Interquest.
Paysafe is trying to come back after a poor run Iomart is bubbling along nicely trying to break 265. Nearly there!

** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use

FOR SMALL COMPANIES:

It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:

http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader

It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Xeros so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link.

***
If you like to trade the FTSE, Dow, or currencies then Spreado has an outstanding tight 0.8 spread - that is incredibly tight. The platform is very good and robust and have used it to great satisfaction and profits.

You can sign up at this link which includes a decent market commentary:

I also use IG's spreadbetting service too along with other firms. Great execution of trades and nice trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Capital Spreads offer

Capital Spreads offers a really excellent book on spreadbetting for those who open accounts through the link below. Spreads are very tight and every trade has to have a stop loss which is excellent discipline to have especially for beginners. Execution is really good I find and they also allow shorts on shares it is hard to get shorts on like say Carpetright or facebook.

E-mail subscription service

If you want to get the contents of The Naked Trader website into your mailbox instead of waiting for the update to come through, plus exclusively news on the progress of my SIPP from the old Sunday Times column inc new higher risk Aim buys made for that, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with SIPP in the subject line for details of how to get it.

Telecom Plus Offer

Want to quit the rat race? Try and start a new source of income so one day you can tell the boss to stuff it? You could do what I did to escape my grotty office job and become an independent distributor for the Utilities Discount Warehouse.
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/237058/opportunity you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click earn with is then sign up now and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
