A call from the Terminator
The all new edition of my book Naked Trader 3 is out now !!!
Lots of new strategies including my top 20, lots more mistakes to avoid, loads of new trader tales, cartoons and a bit of fun too.
I hope you all enjoy it - and can tell I put a lot of effort into it and I really hope if it just stops one person from making the mistakes I did it will be worthwhile.
Indeed I hope the book is worth it even if you read about other people's stories, it is amazing how so many make exactly the same mistakes.
Anyhow if you buy it I hope you enjoy it! Click here:

** My book about spreadbetting , you can order it here:

** I have booked a new date for the next seminar it will be on May 18th, more details below, early booking discount currently available! **
That was half term? It felt like the summer holidays!
These private schools certainly seem to know how to have long holidays.. still we love the school, worth every penny. (When it is actually open).
He went back to school yesterday and it was a bit of a shock having to do a tie up again for him. Although by luck I think I did my best knot ever!
I know a lot of weary parents especially working ones who find the long half-terms quite hard. They have to find people to look after their kids and so much arranging to do.
But I met one parent who complained about the number of tedious meetings she has to attend at her work.
I remember these well from long ago when I had a job (not had one since 2001 yipeeee!!)
However I enjoyed the last six months of tedious meetings as I was trying to annoy the powers that be to try and get a redundancy. They went "Anything to report Robbie?"
"No," I said. "I have done nothing at all over the last week, so let's go to Helen for her report..."
To those of you who've had a break but now have to go back to tedious meetings, my sympathy. If any of you have watched "Twenty Twelve" the comedy about the Olympics on BBC2 .. you'll know they have pretty accurately shown what tedious meetings are really like...
There is always one person in a meeting who talks complete gobbledegook for what seems like hours. While they talk no-one really has a clue what they are talking about and everyone else in the meeting is gradually losing the will to live.
I ate so much chocolate over Easter I've honestly gone off it for a bit. Indeed I can hardly look at it.
My best egg? Probably a large Cadburys Creme egg. I did get one of those organic loads of cocoa ones but honestly? I prefer the rubbish sugary low cocoa choc!
Me and Christopher went to see Fulham play Chelsea. When I booked the tickets, I thought well it will nearly be summer so uncovered seats would be fine.
It didn't rain much for the whole week except for the two hours we were at the game and it tanked down throughout.
I tried my hardest to get in the dry. At half time and throughout the second half I suggested to Christopher we popped home next door and watch the rest of the game on Sky Sports.
No luck. The kid wanted to stay despite the elements. More courage than his Dad I guess. Or perhaps the foolishness of youth. Well, at least we did get a goal and probably deserved to win it.
We're off to to see Wigan on Saturday... the forecast? Heavy rain. Oh dear.
It's pretty much impossible to avoid a seven-year-old hearing the football "chants". These invariably consist of some of the worst words possible you don't really want your kid to hear. But they are catchy and we have to try and stop him singing them at home.
The chants are of course incredibly clever and witty. Like this one when the opposing goalie is taking a goal kick. "You're s*** .. ahhhhhh". See?
Surprisingly the Chelsea fans are the quietest I've ever seen. Blackburn fans I think take the award for the noisiest and also the "hardest" given they seem to have their shirts off even if it is minus 3. Hey, I guess you have to be hard to live in Blackburn...
On Easter night I ran my usual quiz. Some tough questions this time round, Mrs NT won it - honestly she did, I never fixed the scoring!
There I was, a bit of a dull morning so I played some pinball on my Judge Dredd Pinball arcade machine when the phone went.
Given I was about to beat my previous all time high of 129 million, I ignored it.
Later I listened to voicemail. A strange garbled message. All I could hear was I was about to be "terminated". I could hear "terminated" a few times but not much else.
How exciting... someone wanted to terminate me! Could it be one of the spreadbet companies that I've been making a lot of money from? Was Arnie about to appear at the door?
Lucky terminator left a number for me to call back.
It wasn't exciting at all. It was the broker that supplies the direct market access part of my self invested pension scheme.
He said sorry perhaps termination was a bit strong. But they needed a copy of my passport BY TOMORROW and a copy of a utility bill BY TOMORROW!!! OR ELSE!!
I had to laugh. Given this account has been open for 8 years, they really had plenty of time to ask. Even funnier as I mentioned, I'd be a pretty bad terrorist/money launderer/dodgy geezer to be using a PENSION fund - a fund from which I can't actually access any money at all!
Also I rather feel it would be illegal for them to "terminate" a pension account.
Of course I then sussed it. I bet some kind of regulatory body is due to visit them and they haven't done all the paperwork they were supposed to do.
I decided to be kind and not kick up a stink or suggest some payment should be made to me for the time I have to waste in finding and sending documents.
Of course all these idiotic checks are a waste of time because the bad guys forge them all anyway and indeed they know how to circumvent them.
So all this "know your customer" stuff is b
. All it does is inconvenience the 99.9% of us that are honest while the tiny minority of ill-doers would just laugh at it all and get round it.
Thanks again for all the great feedback on the last seminar, much appreciated
if you missed this seminar the next one is on May 18th
And the good news is at this early stage there is a decent discount for early bookers!

I read an excellent stock market thriller on holiday,
"The Fear Index" by Robert Harris.
A maths genius joins a hedge fund and together they create a monster trading robot giving it billions to play with.
The robot starts to short everything and starts to cause massive market crashes. Then takes on a mind of its own.
Plenty of excellent page turning stuff here, if you are a trader or investor a lot of it will ring true with the robots almost already in charge of some shares!
There's tons of drama and action and I couldn't put it down though it helps as it is a thriller about the markets!
If you're into the markets you'll love it.. here's an order link to the book:

Enjoy the read!!

An interesting email from a reader. The thrust of it was he was going to buy a share after doing a lot of research but then it went up 12% and he hadn't bought it yet. So he felt angry.
How does he stop/halt the feelings of anger?
Well, you have to take the emotion out of trading. Which isn't easy.
I suggested he should read this book.. by Jason Zweig
http://books.global-investor.com/books/256158.htm?ginPtrCode=10453
This is the one to read on psychology. Great read.
Fancy getting the naked trader updates direct into your inbox? And a bit before it gets updates on the net including news from my pension trades made from my SIPP?

Spreadbetting firm Tradefair Spreads has upped its offer exclusively to Naked Trader readers to a £100 credit. This offer is exclusive to me and not available anywhere else...
I've been using them for a few weeks to check that I'm happy with the service. As you know I don't take ads or allow referrals on the site unless it's a company I've used and I feel confident about.
What I like about it is it's easy to use, spreads are surprisingly tight on the smaller companies and interestingly an automated stop loss is applied to each trade - so beginners know what their max loss is from the outset.
Anyway they now offer a £100 credit as long as you deposit £100. You get the credit after you placed 5 trades (Terms and conditions apply)
If you'd like to apply for an account with Tradefair Spreads and get the freebie click this link:

I use IG Index for betting on the very small companies, the only spreadbet firm I can find that does the smaller ones making it possible to trade AIM cos tax free.

Many of you enjoy the cheap advfn toplists bronze deal through me as do many of you with the cheap level 2. However many of you say you want a half-way house to include real-time share prices always on.
So I'm pleased to announce I've managed to seal a new deal with Advfn for its "Silver" service - that's always on real-time share prices for a good saving (Bronze toplists etc are included in this).
The deal is via me you can save £30 for your first year by paying just £145 inc vat via me instead of £173.71
Just mail me for full details if you'd like it with "silver" in the subject line.
They've just re-published "The Zulu Principle" by Jim Slater who's written a 2008 update at the beginning.
This is a brilliant classic book. Reading this is a real pleasure and it was a great idea to republish.
Jim believes like I do the best gains can come from smaller stocks and in an easy to read style takes you through how to evaluate smaller companies that are about to become bigger ones - he uses some excellent examples.
Really this is a must read for all more longer-term investors or anyone looking to grow their money... a number of you have also written to me about this book and praising it.
Here is the link to buy it:

Here's a very topical one: The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets by Peter Schiff.
The book is all about how to keep portfolios up in a down market. He focusses a lot on how to play commodities and win with some sensible advice especially on natural resources and precious metals. He is very much a realist and there is no rubbish here: some straight talking and some interesting strategies.
Everyone who invests should think seriously about keeping portfolios up in bad times so this book should be read.
Well worth picking up at this link:

Several people have asked me for a recommendation on a book which shows how to study accounts in a reasonably easy way. The one I like the most is http://books.global-investor.com/books/15717.htm?ginPtrCode=10453 by Robert Leach. Ten crunch questions to ask before buying any company.
It' s a decent easy-to-read book with several key chapters and it's highly recommended. It's one I keep and dip into from time to time. To order, click this link... http://books.global-investor.com/books/15717.htm?ginPtrCode=10453
The best book on charting and easiest read on the subject is http://books.global-investor.com/books/15618.htm?ginPtrCode=10453 by Alistair Blair. Click here -> http://books.global-investor.com/books/15618.htm?ginPtrCode=10453
Another good one is the second edition of http://books.global-investor.com/books/23792.htm?ginPtrCode=10453 by Peter Temple. Included in this one is how to use spreadbetting, CFD's warrants and trackers to reduce risk. And there are some decent trading strategies too.
This is an excellent book for new investors and also experienced ones. It explains all the things you may not be sure about in the markets and will explain the tools that are there. Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on Friday May 18th
Price is £590 plus vat. There is an early bookers discount available.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?
£100 Tradefair offer

Naked Rambling
I know exactly what sort of justice that should be meted out to the toss pot who killed all those poor Norwegian students.
Stick him back on the island. Tell him in one day, all the relatives of the students he killed will be coming to the island to see him..
They all have one week to "chat" to him....
Amazing to see relatives of the dead in the courtroom not shouting at him or indeed having a go.
My Norwegan friend explains in Norway it's a kind of Keep calm and carry on mentality.
I doubt very much that I would have been able to contain myself if he had killed a child of mine.
Tesco is going to spend a billion "improving" its stores. I doubt it will make any difference.
Because those on a real budget now use Aldi and Lidl. Those with money to burn prefer Waitrose, M and S or Sainsburys.
I guess we could call Tescos the squeezed middle! They need to decide who they are targetting and either go cheap and cheerful or head upmarket.
Well, the last episode of The Apprentice shows one thing: You can sell complete crap to the right people!
Indeed it showed if you need to raise money quickly it's easy!
Just go round all the skips and car boot sales you can find and pick the worst pile of rubbish you can get for the cheapest price.
Then simply rent a shop for a day somewhere trendy in London. Call it "Retro" and watch the silly trendies give you £200 for something you bought for a fiver.
Or as Nick observed: Those chaps with gel in their hair...
I haven't seen The Voice. Why? Well, I dunno, seeing kids singing cover versions really doesn't do it for me, I find the whole thing tedious.
Prefer BGT - David Walliams has brought some much needed humour to the panel. The acts have been pretty dire this time round. And of course the editing and the music etc is designed to tug at the emotions.
Even so, it remains good entertainment though tends to be better to tape it and use the fast forward button.
New series of Mad Men? Well, perhaps a little disappointing so far, probably because Don has been happy. That is no good at all. But no doubt it will pick up and it is still beautifully made.
The fight last night was the highlight of the series so far!
Still really enjoying Homeland on Ch4 Sunday nights, apparently Obama's fave thriller. It's been gripping throughout though the real baddie must be Saul surely?
According to ticket records, there is one event in the Olympics that has had the biggest amount of applications from men by some way.
Guess what it is?
The Women's beach volleyball.
Isn't that strange? I just can't understand it. If anyone has any ideas, do let me know.
The spreadbetting firm I use for sports betting is here:
Via this link Open a Sporting Index account and there's £100 cash offer - please check terms and conditions which apply.
http://www.sportingindex.com/?tpid=6755
Do remember if you do bet you ought to treat sports spreadbetting as entertainment - and expect to lose! Also with spreadbetting work out what your max loss could be and make sure you can afford it! In other words if you say backed the favourite at 15 for a fiver and they come nowhere your max loss is £75.
Naked Mail
Agree about facebook - the youngsters who leapt onboard when it started,
posting dire photos of them doing things they shouldn't are now grown up and
getting on in their careers and errrrrr wondering if that photo of them
mooning in the disco in Majorca was a good idea!
Nice to think I am not the only unsociable grump to not want to follow the
minutiae of my friends and colleagues mostly boring lives!
I am in the states just now and feel the Starbucks asking name thing is just
more marketing bollocks to get them noticed. If they just speeded up the
service I might go there but americans seem to need all this 'service
bollocks' to make them think they are getting their moneys worth.
Thanks Anne,
well of course I agree, it's nearly all bollocks!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!
Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..
Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.
I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!
This compares to £473 direct from advfn inc vat so this deal saves you over a whopping £120! ADVFN level 2 also includes all the live trades made through Plus Markets which I find invaluable.
To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!
More on level 2 in my book and I spend hours on it at my seminars. So if you get level 2 and want to learn how to use it properly live, book my seminar!
ADVFN Bronze Offer
To take up the offer, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with Bronze in the subject line and I will tell you how to claim the deal.
Bronze is included inside the level 2 deal.

Markets
Looks to me like a great chance to make money this year is coming up.. and that is to short Facebook!
Let's face it the only reason it is coming to market is the bosses can see it's peaking and want to realise some cash from it.
This company is going to be valued at over 100 billion on a profit of one billion - yes that is right 100x profit to value. This is sheer crazy from a company that is peaking in a competitive space where its users are happy to move on to the next thing that comes along...
I know loads of people who have disconnected from it recently.
Anyway I wouldn't be surprised if the share price surges higher when it initially gets launched onto the market but I intend to bide my time, wait a little for it to probably go higher and then get stuck in with some shorts.
I reckon the bubble will burst quite quickly with this one. However of course you have to be careful because the market can be "wrong" for a lot longer than one's bank balance..
However I'm pretty confident the inevitable bubble burst on this one will give some brilliant profits on those who go short at the right time.
It might seem like the markets have been crazily volatile over the last 2 weeks since I last updated but in my opinion and with my sort of shares the whole lot adds up to... well a whole lot of nothing much...
Indeed I've had some decent rises from many of mine.
All kinds of excuses have been used for the sell offs and buy backs - China, the Euro, Spain, whatever, take your pick! Looks like the pros have taken any excuse to grab some profit. In reality, I don't think much is really happening and big falls and gains are engineered to get shares off private punters.
And so far on any occasion the market has suffered a big markdown that has been the very moment to grab a bargain.
Anyway all in all I enjoyed half term and in the main stayed away from worrying about the markets but I did make a trade or two.
One thing I find investors cannot do it keep buying more of a share they bought at cheaper prices. Over the long-term my policy of doing just that has worked well.
And I've tried to take advantage of bad days to add more shares in companies where I'm already in a massive profit.
None more so than in Dialight (DIA) and I added to the recent spreadbet on them at around 700 by getting some more at 980. A SB as my ISA is stuffed with Dialight.
I have been patient all the way from 150p to the now tennerish and as those of you who have to my seminars have seen from my accounts my profits in real life are something like £90,000. For the website profits are more than £50,000 - and of course there have been dividends on top. A broker has put out a target price of 1400 for these but with a fair wind they could go further and with my big holding I would be happy to finally exit on a nice bid. How about 1800? It's lucky: it's in the right market at the right time. I remember buying these live at 150 at a seminar, wish I'd bought more then...
The other exciting thing about Dialight is if it keeps rising it could get into the FTSE 250 which would mean some funds would buy in for the first time and it would also get on the radar of the bigger funds.
I couldn't resist picking up some more APR, another lot at 937.1. Results are at last out - management apologised for screwing up the results announcement. I think in the long run I shall be pleased as in the end it gave me a final chance to add more cheaply and they now head into a potential long-term trade department for what could I hope be a marvellous ride up this year. Anyway looks a nice buy around a tenner.
I got some XP Power (XPP) at 1022. Looks cheap around this price and shows some promise for this year. Made some nice profits on this over the last couple of years and even hold onto some I bought I think in the 100s! Though sadly in hindsight should have sold them at near 1800 ! Directors are buying up the shares.
Finally I've topped up in a long-term hold I don't think I mention much BTG (BGC). I've topped up this time on a spreadbet at 355. I topped up as it seems to be seeing a new wave of buying and 350 looks like becoming the floor here, the target for this spreadbet is a medium-term rise up to 450 ish. BTG recently reported more progress with its vein treatments and lots of potentials in the pipeline too. I hardly ever back drugs companies as they are too risky but this one had always stood out.
I've shorted yet more Carpetright (CPR) and remain puzzled by the share price. I can't find any case for these shares to be worth much more than half what they are now. Anyhow in for more at 683. However much I try I can't get a valuation of much more than three quid on these. I don't know how the price is being held up but I reckon once they go below six quid they will tank fast down to a fiver. But I continue to believe three quid is about right.
I took a loss of £250 on my silly unresearched trade in Int Ferro at just under 17.5. Serves me right.
I topsliced a few Optos as they flew way past target and got 277.1 for the topslice, I'll now keep the rest long-term and probably rebuy if they have a bad day. Any price under 250 looks good. That's a profit for the site of £1,162.
Betfair spreadbet just couldn't head above 870 however much it tried so the bet was off at 869 for breakevenish. I'll look for a lower entry later in the year. Dignity SB short kept on finding very good support in the low 800s and it never looked like breaking below 800 this time so the bet went into the coffin at 816 for a profit of £280.
That's total profits banked for the site of £1,192.
Portfolio Highlights
Kentz hit 500 but that was too much for initial investors who sold millions of shares, getting 430 for them because after Kentz's massive gains they were top heavy in them. I can see that. The shares were eagerly snapped up by institutions who were so keen they toook more shares off the investors than they originally wanted to sell.
At the current 420 the price looks crazily cheap. If it hadn't been for the sale I bet the shares would be sitting nearer 520 which seems at least fair value. In the low 400s the shares look amazingly cheap and I am hanging onto mine. I guess there is probably quite a few shares floating about depressing the price but I reckon at some point I will be selling these at well over 600. Patience, dear boy, patience.
I was having an idle thought about two of my holdings in similar markets, Vislink and The Vitec Group. With the Vitec being much the bigger and with possibly enough money to do it, I would have thought Vislink would be a great buy for them, the two companies together could really go places.
Vitec seems to be in an acquisitive mood too, well, anyway obviously I am speculating but if I was head of Vitec I'd consider a bid - I guess they could get Vislink for say 60 million so they would need to raise some money but it would be a long-term cheap buy. I wonder.
I am up 70% or so still on Vislink and 30p looks to be cracked.
Well, looks like I bought Costain at the top and still hold instead of taking the quick loss I should have taken. I suspect it could go a little lower and I also suspect unusually for me an average down will work shortly. I've taken the stop out for now and expect to buy! I think it is just a question of whether it bounces off 210 or 200.
The Ocado short goes well as does the short in Wolfson. I think Wolfson certainly has a bigger fall to come.
Recent buy Trifast put out a statement this week which looked very positive. Looks undervalued to me and really should be trading in the 50s, not 40s, again patience needed here. The management looks very good indeed here.
Zotefoams and CML have both broken out and look very strong, producing good profits though they are quiet for now. Indeed CML is trying to crack 300. Zotefoams couldn't quite bust through 200.
Long-termer Carclo has put out an update, the gist of which seems to be its Touchscreen Technology plans are on the runway waiting for takeoff. (Okay I know this is a terrible metaphor). Its partner Amtel holds the key. If it all goes well the share price could easily double again. And as I already trebled on it, that would be rather nice! Of course there are still question marks but the risk reward looks to the upside still. If I were in charge of Carclo I would immediately change its name to Carclo Technology to underline it is no longer a boring engineer but in fact a gleaming Tech company. But who am I to say such things? The management here have been absolutely terrific to transform this company. Congrats to them.
IP Group continues to do the business. IP has a more than 20% holding in Oxford Nanopore which has made the world's first hand held DNA sequencer, probably worth a fortune for the company. Given this and other brilliant companies in IP's portfolio looks like a likely even bigger winner this year and I don't see why 150 should not be reached.
I sometimes forget about shares if they are going up gently so hallo to RWS which has been quietly doing the business for me up about 100 points on that one, I hope another 40 to go before I bank what will be a very nice profit, assuming nothing horrible happens along the way.
Recent buy Low and Bonar continues its good run bought it in the mid 40s and now pushing 60p . Nicols is now doing really well, a lovely little share.
Greencore (GNC) continues to go well, and is now in the FTSE 250. It came up later on in the seminar on a scan. A tremendous rise, I must think this is on a shortlist to take profits soon though. However I do wonder whether there is a another ten % there.
Coastal Energy continues off its highs and floats at around a tenner. However I still like the long-term story and I've still doubled and more so happy to continue to hold longer-term. Its main listing is in Canada where it is heavily traded and volatile so it could easily go back up as fast as it went down.
Gamble Filtronic has proved a great gamble and has now doubled for me. However a statement will be needed for any further gains and it is still risky because it would crash if there was anything negative.
SVG Group has proved an excellent trade up more than 80 points now and it shows little sign of stopping its rise for now. However I think a little more say three quid it will be time to cash in..
LOQ - what a magic share it has been and keeps producing the goods and and even after its recent rise it still looks cheap. Now it is trying to crack 300 giving me a treble. It got above but then profit takers came in.
Telecom Plus is rising again, nearly back to 700p. There was a big distributors' meeting recently which apparently went well with new ideas to boost the business. including an interesting SIM card deal and £2.99 broadband. I didn't get any more on the dip as I have well over a quarter of a million quids worth which is enough! I expect to be in it for another 5 years or so and enjoy the income and the capital gain where I think the best is yet to come.
What can I say about the wonderful Aggreko which has now doubled for me! And Petrofac, well that is a five timer now, bought in the 300s now pushing 1600 !
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.igmarkets.co.uk/?QPID=1079&QPPID=1
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time.
Trades first reported Wednesday afternoons under "Markets" section..
