Naked Trader 4, a brand new edition is about to be published... details here in the next couple of days!
It was 11.30pm on Saturday and we were watching England probably going to lose against Italy.
Watch the first half, and see the rest in the morning seemed sensible... we had to get up early to see Christopher off on a school trip.
There was a ring on the doorbell. Two blokes on the doorstep. We opened the door, hey we live in a nice area it's ok.
They were a bit pissed. "We're at a party two doors away," said one.
"It's nearly all people from Switzerland," said the other helpfully. "They're a bit boring."
"Yes, and so, well a, they are not interested in the football and b they have a crap small telly...."
...." And we saw you have a nice huge telly and we thought you wouldn't mind if we came in and watched the rest of the game with you?" one finished hopefully.
Tricky one. I mean, we don't want to appear to be boring... more boring than the people at the party. We're still hip young dudes who could party all night.. yeah!!
Well, then again, we are tired and fancy going to bed and England won't win anyway.. and... yes, actually we are boring old farts too...
Then I nearly said we're going to bed but you stay and watch it, close the front door on the way out.
But then what if we woke in the morning and the laptops had gone, or one of them threw up?
Nope, ok then, we are definitely boring old farts now.
"Sorry we're off to bed," we said. "Of course you'd have been welcome otherwise."
The look in their eyes of a mix of disappointment and confirmation we were BOFs was hard to take. "Fair enough," they said reluctantly and trooped off back to their boring party to watch it on a crap tv there.
I kind of went to bed thinking, mmm... a few years ago I'd have been up for it, brought out the wine and laughed gamely at England losing with a couple of strangers.
Now I am a sad BOF who has to get to bed before midnight but we really DID have to get up early tomorrow... maybe I really would have let them in....
I wonder if their party got any better... maybe people from Switzerland are more boring then we are... that's a nice thought to go to sleep with...
If you wonder how they knew about our TV was we never draw the blinds so you can see our TV from most of the street)
Which can make life a bit difficult as there was some lesbian action in Orange is the new black the other day and we have a vicar who lives next door.
Said vicar looked straight through the window at the action. Perhaps we should go to church and repent on Sunday,
Anyway look we did have to get up early as Christopher had to get to school at 8am for the start of a school trip to some kind of farm for a few days plus he had to have wellies and a pack lunch and that kind of thing.
We saw him off...and then went straight back to bed... ( after fast forwarding through England's loss)
He is due back tonight but frankly, we have had a ball and I'm not being mean. Thing is we have no help or family nearby and so he is with us all the time when he's not at school which is lovely.
But.. it's been very nice too to have a break from routine!
We did stuff normally we would struggle to do. Monday night we took a boat trip up the Thames into town and had a lovely meal at the Wolseley in Piccadilly.
The Wolseley is a great brasserie if you are ever in town, always lots of celebs to gawp at, a couple of Strictly Come dancing stars were there on our night.
And if you want a decent way of seeing London try the Thames Clipper services between Putney and Embankment.
Tuesday was a meal out and a movie "Belle" which was pretty good.
And we did other things we normally wouldn't be able to do at times we wouldn't normally be able to do them.
Maybe you can guess.
Anyway the Mrs is about to pick the lad up from the school bus and we can't wait to see him!
Thanks a lot for all the feedback from the last seminar.
Some of you told me afterwards you really did decide to sell your crap shares. That is even better news. And great to read how many of you now are aware of how to play supply and demand with level 2 and the tricks I showed you. As you now see, it is very important to understand it before you make a trade.
It's been so rewarding too that I've been getting emails from people saying I changed their lives after they came to a seminar. Many of you have done so well and it's not just about me.. you made the effort and put the work and discipline in to trade properly.
If you missed it, the next one is on July 7th mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "July seminar interested" in the subject line.
Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from the last one from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'
**Follow Ups**
If you have been to a seminar before and would like to follow up with me and live markets all day email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "follow up interested" in the subject line.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on JULY 7TH
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a decent early bookers discount available for those booking nice and early.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "July seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Yikes, did you see Tony Blair doing that interview. Isn't it scary he was in charge of the country for so many years?
He's a crazy sociopath. You can imagine him pressing the button to launch nukes on Iran with a crazed look on his face shouting "It's either us or them!"
GCHQ has sanctioned spying on every Facebook and twitter user.
Good luck, I haven't got either a Facebook or Twitter account, suckers! Nor do I feel the need for either. Hey but good luck with your spying.
I can't think of a more tedious job than spying on people's tedious Facebook and twitter entries. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
We started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix and immediately got hooked.
it's a bit like a posh version of Prisoner Cell Block H. It's nicely done with a whole host of decent characters - basically the show tells us that most humans are lazy and selfish...
There are some scenes of lesbian action.
Of course I refuse to watch these and cover my eyes. What sort of person do you think I am?
Game of Thrones first episode didn't so this series is taking precedence before we move onto Game of Thrones!
I can hardly believe they are still flogging Big Brother (the plebs version)
Talk about five years past its sell by date. Yet it still picks up a million viewers. Unbelievable.
Fargo proved a surprisingly good yarn and it's remained pretty gripping. Look forwards to the finale this Sunday and wonder what the body count is going to be and indeed whether any of the main characters will survive at all.
The Brazil opening ceremony was bonkers! People dressed as trees and then Jennifer Lopez comes on but someone forgets to switch on her mike.
I've backed Argentina and Brazil on the spreads, you can make money on either if they at least get someone near the final, they don't have to win it. Though it has to be said Brazil looked a bit ropey last night...
If you fancy a bet in the world cup forget about fixed odds at skinny prices and go sports spreadbetting.
You can bet on how well a player does, how many corners, how many goals.. bookings.. you name it and there will be a spread on it.
And of course you can bet on teams doing badly.
Brazil looks a reasonable bet at on the spreads. You get 100 if they win, 75 if they come second and 50 if they come third. You start losing if they are out of the top 3.
Argentina at 46 and Germany at 40 appeal. You can buy England at 20 showing the bookies aren't holding out a lot of hope.
I use this company to spreadbet with

Good quick execution of bets and a great range of markets. Recommended!

I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!

"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!

To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

A reminder next seminar is July 7th, Mail me for details at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "July seminar interested" in the subject line.
I can't say I am excited about the TSB offer.
I just don't do banks. I struggle to value them. I expect they are being offered reasonably cheap but there is little edge to the shares and I also suspect such a scaling back that it won't be worth the bother.
So I'm not bovvered and I have left them alone. I am the guy that likes to say ... "no". I expect there will be a few small quid to be made on them though.
Another upcoming new issue SSP also leaves me cold. Airport/railway catering? Half year profit of £19m but net debt after listing of £450m. Supposedly worth £2 bln. I just wouldn't pay £2bln for a company with those figures even though growth is good and it just looks like some people want out. I would certainly be a seller at that market cap and not a buyer. Also, I'm a lover, not a fighter...
Zoopla looks a bit more interesting, an excellent company but I don't know about the current price, one I'll keep an eye on and buy on a bad market day.
Markets in general are a bit moribund (like that word) (Ed Moribund?)- robots seems to be aimlessly pushing prices up and down but in reality prices are going nowhere for now while the owners of the robots are at the tennis, the football, the racing or the cricket!
In the meantime the robots are under the radar, gaining artificial intellience. They are waiting to rise up and push all share prices to zero whilst their owners are at Wimbledon. Ha, just wait till they get back home and see what the robots have done.... Bad robot!
As I keep mentioning, the buy button's only getting pressed if something looks really good, so not much is attractive for right now. It's almost certainly better to wait to buy when there's a sudden panicked sell off.
Off for a summer road trip to California where I don't want to be bothered with looking at shares in the middle of the night there!
Indeed I won't be too sorry if the market tanks over the summer for me to come back from the states and pick up some nice shares in the sales if they happen.
Anyway one looked interested to me and that is cloud computing group Iomart (IOM) - it carries a bit more risk than my usual ones as it is tech related and can be volatile, moving fast.
Still, I have taken that risk and bought some at 206 yesterday.
Its last statement was bullish so I have added them on some recent weakness in the share price. For a high tech share they are not on a massive rating and at least there are real profits which are climbing sharply. My plan is to hold onto them unless the price dips well below 200p in which case would probably sell and take a small loss and try an entry price lower down sometime.
I sold Dillistone (dsg) last week on the back of a kind of wishy washy agm statement for a tiny profit.. Shame as I had held it a while but I did get a dividend. However I bought a new lot just now this afternoon because at 91.8 it now seems well oversold and kind of cheap. I'd now expect to try a longer-term hold in it again. It is really a bit smaller than I usually go for so it is just for a small amount as it could turn illiquid and hard to sell on any bad news.
Ptec reached its target nicely and so an easy decision to bank, they went at 666 (bit scary) for a profit of £1,383. I'm eyeing up a repeat of that trade at some point.
I've taken part profits in one or two shares that have done very well and where I had relatively big stakes. The idea is to at least bank some profit but still hold onto a good rump of said shares. However as just sold some I'm keeping them open here for the website. One of them where I banked partial was Hayt at 84.76 but hopeful of good results next week and potential to buy more should the price go lower. Indeed it is down this afternoon and I am getting very tempted to buy them in the late 70s right now.
A very long-term trade has gone, a small amount of CML that I had left. There was a warning.. I'm finally out for a final bit of profit of £ 2,810. Adds to the many thousands I made on it previously. So thanks, maybe be back one day though not for a while.
Shorting the FTSE in the late 6800s has paid off at the moment with paper profits of nearly 5 grand. I suspect will keep these going for a while and add if the ftse climbs back up to the 6900 area.
I also shorted general retail sector as a spreadbet, up around £500 on that at the mo.
Anyway one way or another caution and care is needed at the moment.
Highlights
Well when I say highlights I have to repeat my moribund comment. Not much has happened really. But the good news is most of the ones I've done well on haven't lost much ground.
However Advanced Medical Solutions has proved a nice new buy so far with a decent rise.
And GVC, what a great trade that is turning out to be, that has continued with its upward climb with capital rising and a magnificent dividend too. It's been rising steadily for some time and seems to be no stopping it for now, great profits building. Netplay is a bit stagnant but looks like a seller might be nearly done. Jelf looks like it might be starting an upward move.
The few I topped up on on weakness are doing nicely, Entertainment One has climbed back up again, along with the lovely Kentz. Seeing Machines stays in the 6-7p area awaiting news.
Renew has stabilised after some lovely moves up and look to have a brilliant future, what is not to like?
Long-termer Porvair continues as a hold despite having more than trebled.
Gulf Marine looks firm. Accumuli has had a brilliant time, will soon be close to doubling - just a shame I sold half of them a while back but that's the way it goes.
There are good signs of some buying in boring Polypipe, maybe it won't be boring for much longer
KBC announced an interesting partnership today and continues to head higher and now wish I hadn't taken part profits recently. Nichols has started to fizz up and its statement too was bullish for this year and it has a new brand or two
Telecom Plus is a tad moribund at the mo as utilities are out of favout however probably the rating is about right for now, but with £63m profit forecast, anything above that and the shares will get re-rated higher again. In the meantime a massive dividend cheque for more than £8,000 will shortly be coming my way! I suspect my share certs will still be in the drawer in 3 years time. My profit on it are near the £600,000 mark.
*** Two Newer Spreadfirms I Use
It is hard to find a firm that does prices on the very small companies but this company does:
http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader
It does spreads on smaller ones other companies don't like Dillistone so worth having an account for that, been using it for a while and very happy so far. They also have an Ipad offer at the moment which is on that link

TIGHTEST SPREAD FOR TRADING THE FTSE/DOW ETC
If you're into trading indices this one is the cheapest with just a 0.8 spread which is fantastic - execution is top too
http://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader/
If you start using them and find any problems please let me know.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.ig.com/nakedtradercfds
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on every other Wednesday afternoon.
