Lovely to spend the day online a few days ago with some of you at the zoom seminar.
Very interesting conversations - I noted on a few questionaires the subject of
perfectionism came up. It is impossible to be perfect in markets which makes it
harder if you are a perfectionist! It just can't happen and things will go wrong.
I was delighted as some of you began to understand level 2 and the importance of
supply and demand. And thanks so much for the feedback such as this from Phil:
"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)
As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.
You brought it back to, Keep Things Simple. Do Your Own Research. Trade without emotion and above all, trade the market you find"¦ not what you or some pundit thinks it should be.
You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question.
Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own.
Brilliant!
Big thanks also Elizabeth, you made the whole process seamless and free flowing; and kept the attendees and Robbie on course."
Thanks Andrew - we have got rather experienced at running them on zoom now!
Next online seminar is on September 22nd email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com
with "Sep seminar interested" in the subject line for all the info.
My annoying back problem is still there and still battling it with mind-body techiques
and gradually getting there, now sitting, standing and moving more.
It is one of those two steps forward and one back but I am doing things I couldn't a while
back.
Indeed I have managed a restaurant meal and a sit of 1.5 hours which
I was very pleased about. Plus some driving and good spells of walking
for half an hour, plus managing some swimming too.
Hopefully by the autumn I will have conquered it and back to my normal self. It has
been the first health challenge I have ever had and that probably did not help and I
just didn't for a minute expect to be traumatised by a routine op.
Wife and child were keen on a holiday so I suggested I could manage on my tod for a few
days so they are off to Palma for a few days at the weekend. I obviously feel jealous and
annoyed that I am not quite there yet. But like shares, I just have to be patient and wait
till I'm ready and maybe I can go away in October half term.
If Spain turns red before they go then I guess.. they won't be going!
If you are off for the summer abroad, good luck. Hope the testing and the queueing aren't
too annoying.
Hopefully they will try and simplify everything a bit more otherwise the travel industry will be
in a right state.
Jas, thanks for your mail as you've been to two zoom seminars.
"Just wanted to say thank you for a couple of wonderful seminars.
Your seminars were brilliant. Delivered methodically and with just a simple honest approach to dealing with the markets. You've helped me immensely in sorting my trading plan out and finding a good and profitable way to trade. After many months trying to figure out level 2, you sorted that out in one afternoon.
Since the seminar, I have placed 5 trades, 2 have closed out with profits and 3 are still running with profits. All trades placed using fundamental research and not Youtube videos
from David:
"Well it doesn't happen often, but I am absolutely speechless! I don't think I have ever spent a more worthwhile day nor spent money more wisely and gladly.
I for one was practically at the point of orgasm all day in my enjoyment and appreciation of what you were presenting! Even though I have read NT time and again, to see you going through the process of stock assessment over and over was incalculably useful and I managed to take six A4 pages of notes during the day. I was fascinated to learn about (and see) Level 2 in action and learn more about Spread "˜Betting'.
I thought the presentation balance was perfection, and Elizabeth was a complete star with her very well-judged handling of the questions....
.....This is a rather long-winded way of saying thank you so much to both of you - today was one of the top five most enjoyable days of my life, and I greatly look forward to joining you again!"
Naked Rambling
The swimming was good with the amazing Peaty, I just can't get into
the minor sports like skateboarding or the martial arts.
But for some reason I did enjoy the BMX biking.
The start of the triathlon was bizarre with a boat still there as competitors
tried to dive in. Lucky no-one was hurt. Nice that other countries can make
cock-ups and not just us!
And hats off to the amazing Tom Daley. Getting the gold when he wasn't was a
stunning achievement.
Another child on the way for shagger Boris. If nothing else you gotta admire his
drive and joie de vivre.
They've all gone off on holiday now. I suspect Labour will carry on with the
disappointing Keir Starmer till nearer the election and then dump him for someone
with a bit of passion.
The US says it will be giving 100 dollars for people to get vaccinated.
But what about those who got vaccinated for nothing? A hornet's nest perhaps?
Good old UK though - no 100 dollars - but you'll get a few quid off a pizza.
Surely people would rather be like the US and get some dough.
Summer means there is little on TV and even amazon and Netflix seem to be
struggling for anything decent.
Jolt (*) Amazon Prime
The only good bit of this movie is that it's short. It's totally bananas though if you like
a woman beating up a lot of bad guys there might be something in it. Terrible
dialogue. There is actually some merit in the first 15 minutes with a potentially
interesting premise but after that it's downright diabolical.
Rarely can there be a movie with such awful writing. The action scenes are
quite well done though.
The Hotel Inspector *** Ch 5
The most irritating thing about this is right at the start you're told what's about to happen,
so much so, why bother watching the rest?
Alex does very little work and nothing much is done to help the hapless hotels bar
a lick of paint and some nice cushions. And anyway, in all episodes covid hits at the
end. One gets the feeling the hotels get very quick visits.
Baptiste BBC1 ** BBC 1
This is the last series featuring Baptiste. Just as well given he is such a grumpy
old miserable git. It's kind of ok and has some decent dramatic moments
but the two teens in it are so annoying I wanted them shot.
The plot has tons of holes in it and the baddie seems to have little
backup. Who's a bit weary of time shifts? Go on, tell us the story from
beginning to end. The whole thing is saved by the brilliant Fiona Shaw as the
ambassador. She is just great whenever on screen. And if you can buy
the premise there are some decent bits.
But I feel it is the end. Au revoir Baptiste.
And the award for the first mention mention of Christmas in a marketing
email goes to...
Deliveroo - I kid you not the email headline is
"Get 50% off Pret's
Christmas Sandwich".

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

I've had many queries as to when I will be getting the "Naked money" podcasts up and running again. A series where I teach a novice trader how to do it and
every week we pick a share.
Glad to report the 6k we invested together is now
over 9k, a 50pc return over 5 months.

It's new!! Podcast no 5 is ready!
https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt5/
Includes lots of chat about shares, scams, how to be a dragon to make money, plus a £100 competition, top tens, spot the intros, nostalgia corner and loads of laughs. Plus experienced investors have tips for beginners and investment ideas - settle down and spend
some time with the Naked Trader!
Markets continue in the 6900-7125 area - any real breakdown or up could signal the next market move which is impossible to call.
I can never remember having had so many bids come through for my shares and
it has been a wonderful year for that meaning I have made more money this year
than I can ever remember.
There has been Codemasters, Gamesys, Avast, Sumo, Vectura, Spire and now
Ultra Electronics.
This week the turn of Ultra Electronics which soared more than 30pc on a renewed approach
from Cobham. It's a decent offer and should be accepted. The price is a little below
the bid on thoughts the government might step in to stop it.
As I mentioned last time summer trading is harder especially in small caps when stocks become illquid and hard to trade with sometimes silly quick movements up and down.
There is argument from mid July to end August to remove stops from the very small shares or
else you can get stopped out at a silly price. I personally don't have automated stops on these
only on the bigger ones where there is more liquidity.
There was a day when some tiny shares got hammered for no reason other than lack
of liquidity and stops getting hit.
So what have I been up to?
As well as shares mentioned here also lots discussed on the brand new NT 5
podcast.
I go through a lot of shares on the podcast and there is plenty of other stuff and some
fun too.

Some ideas came from the live zoom seminar last week.
Looking for the next bid in the defence sector you could argue Qinetic, Chemring and
Avon could be in line.
Annoyingly at the seminar we compared most of the defence sector and Meggitt also came
up but we didn't end up buying that one... which went up 70pc on a bid today. Never mind!
I plumped for buying Qinetic (I already have some from way lower). I did a big comparison between QQ and Ultra Electronics and on most measures considering their market cap was similar QQ looks cheaper and so I reckon a bid for QQ. has potential with a takeout price
given the price ULE was taken out, it would be 30-40pc higher than current price.
Of course remember as usual I am guessing but this looks a fair shout
Even it a bid doesn't come (I am sure it will sometime!) QQ.is going great guns (defence share (gettit?) . Brimming order books, good order intake in the cyber and info business and strong revenue growth in the maritime and land business.
I also bought Chemring (CHG) Another defence shout. This one too looks good value and
another one you can imagine waking up to a bid.
It's got low debt and profits are going well and it could be a decent fit for a bigger outfit.
One that came up on a screen live at last week's online seminar was Up Global (UPGS).
I had made some money on it earlier this year -since then it has come back a bit - we had a long chat about it online and live I put a direct market access order on it to try and buy it at
the sell price and got them, so not having to pay the spread of 8 points.
That worked very nicely, getting the shares I wanted at a much better price than a normal buy. If myou'd like to learn how to do this it is part of the online seminars - next September 22 - mail me for details if you would like to spend the day with me and live markets.
Looks a great longer-term hold now for an isa. It easily raised £15m to help buy out Salter -
a great brand. If you have weighing machines or kitchen scales it is probably made by Salter.
Also live at the seminar Morgan Sindall MGNS came up. I have already made a lot on these but shares still look great value.
Some bullish statements from the company including news it has £8.3 bln in secured workload.
This construction outfit also has a ton of cash. Its fitout order book is up a staggering 42pc.
It was written about in the Mail on Sunday yesterday.
Looks simply now a decent long-term isa hold of a quality company.
I topped up in long term holding Sureserve. SUR. It seems to be getting a bit of wind behind
it and it has always looked cheap at anything under 100p.
It is on the up at the mo and 100p looks in sight.
I talked about it on the new podcast -
so have a listen to me banging on about it there!
I shorted Pets At Home (PETS). This came up on a screen we did at the live zoom
seminar and initially the idea was whether it was worth a buy. But the longer I
looked at it the more it seemed like a short.
Nothing wrong with it, in fact it's done very well - but looking
at its likely growth its market value looks simply too high for now - it probably should be
de-rated a bit - once that happens I could even switch to a long. But
for now, shorted it live at the seminar.
The IPO of Robinhood in the states. To sum up, buyers here are at some point are
going to get Friar Tucked.
Robinhood - yet another complete and utterly bonkers valuation for a US share! This
simply shows a lot of US shares have meaningless valuations totally unrelated to
profits or anything, actually.
Once the market starts to crash in the US (it must do given the crazy valuations of so
many shares) this one will crash and burn.
There is no fundamental case whatsoever how on earth this joke can be valued
at billion. Nuts !!
I have shorted it and will short it more when I can. This "commission free" US broker has
managed to cash in on the youngsters who went crazy and bought loads of crap to push
it up.
How the US financial watchdogs let all this happen is beyond me. I suspect the firm at
some point as well will get sued.
I have no idea when the US crash will start but this IPO just adds to my suspicion that the US
market is if compared to a Jenga game one or two bricks away from collapsing.
I don't feel the same way about the UK market in which most shares seem fairly valued bar one or two (Made dot con, Trainline, Superdry). I think this time round I'd short the Dow and Nasdaq rather than the FTSE.
Hard to know whether to bank profits in Ultra now or not. It is a nice problem to have but
as those of you who attended the seminar and saw my spreadbet accounts at
the current price I have a £50,000 profit!
The shares have soared 30pc but there is a tiny possibility of Government intervention
and so the price is a bit below the bid price. I could wait and see if it goes through and
bag something like another 6k but if there are doubts I could lose a fair chunk of paper
profits so will probably sell half and bank some profit.
A very decent report from Science group (SAG) - as I said when I bought it the shares
tend to do nothing then get re-rated as another good statement comes in, So they
are up more and remain a brilliant hold.
TT Electronic share price is rising ahead of a statement.. interesting!
Thinksmart got a huge rise today after a bid for Afterpay in the states, could be
more to come here. This one a top online seminar buy earlier this year so maybe
one or two of you are in it. Profits for the website over £5,000.
Totally's statement went down totally well, dudes and looks like it is starting
a new leg upwards.
Lots of bids floating about including in another two holdings AVast and Sumo. Awaiting
more news of the offer for Avast from Norton. Sumo price is a bit below the bid price.
I suspect both will go through but awaiting developments.
Good luck with summer markets and expect volatility! I am taking a break over August resuming again here on Sept 9th.
Have a great summer in the meantime don't forget my new podcast here -
you could even win some cash.

Money Week offer:
Money Week is a decent magazine which I get as well as the IC.
Shares wise there are quite a few features every week including what a fund manager is buying, all the tips from the papers are covered including places like the Telegraph, Times, Mail, Shares Mag etc and also IPOs are covered.
There is also a decent property and travel section. Also coverage of topics like pension planning, tech, spending and current and future economics.
The kind of mag I enjoy reading in the bath and I always find something that makes me have a think, and that's quite hard for me..
On the link there is also a decent discount so it's around £28-£32 for 13 issues depending on whether the mag is sent to you by post or digital or both. Personally I like an old fashioned mag for bath reading!
So- if you want the free six weekly issues and a discount the link is here:
https://www.moneyweek.com/TNT
Do let me know if any probs with getting the discount or freebies.
Spreadco is still paying 2pc interest up to £20,000 free cash which I enjoy getting and as we saw at the seminar its spreads on ftse 350 shares and the ftse always seem to be tightest.
https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader to open an account under Akeel.
**NEW OFFER: Research tree discount offer: 20pc off.***
As most of you are aware I don't take ads or recommend anyone apart from the
couple of firms I use all the time and trust.
I could probably make millions from agreeing to deals offered by forex cos,
dodgy systems et all. They're all con merchants and I would never ever sleep
at night if I just took their money, so I don't much to their bewilderment! That's
why you don't see any ads on the website.
However I actually approached a company to suggest I recommend them as long
as they gave my lovely readers a decent discount and it agreed.
The site is called research-tree and I really can recommend it as it is a big
help and complements the brilliant stockopedia, the only other site I recommend.
It is very hard as an investor to get hold of brokers notes/recommendations, their
in depth research on companies. Either it is expensive or there are silly rules re who
can access them.
So this site has broker notes on companies, plenty of in depth research. You can find things such as pre-tax profit forecasts and the most shorted companies. There's an easy search facility and also a news feed.
So for example on the morning of a share result or statement you can get a broker report on that share, it is really useful! Broker reports are usually very in depth and I especially like being able to see a full year pre tax profit forecast which seems impossible to get elsewhere.
You can get a limited free account - for full access if you like it - click "upgrade" and there is a 20 per cent discount if you type nakedtrader into the discount code box.
The address is research-tree.com - for the discount remember the code nakedtrader after you ask to upgrade. If you upgrade let me know if the upgrade thing works well and is easy or if you encountered any probs getting the 20pc off.
Ig created a stir among traders by axeing coverage of 900 odd shares. Customers were forced onto 100pc margin and many have not long to close them out,
It said it was forced into it by its own broker - I suspect sb firms are alarmed by the Gamestop palava and they've been inundated with too many new accounts chasing the same pump and dump shares.
Out of the 900 axed shares I only held two and am allowed to hang on as a "pro" trader.
Actually an interesting list of mostly rubbish and I suspect those forced out might be glad eventually!
There are some surprise bigger shares in there that IG will no longer deal in so for those of you who mailed me re other accounts I suggest
https://www.spreadco.com/nakedtrader
for the top 350 shares, spreads are often the best and it will deal in most 350 shares and some that IG won't. It also pays 2% interest on free cash up to 20k paid monthly.
For small caps try http://www.spreadex.com/nakedtrader. Spreadex say for the moment they will carry on with most of the shares so that could be another place to deal in shares IG won't.
Those who moan about 100pc margins, well I do suggest in my SB book not to use margin much - the sb firms can any time ask you to go 100pc. If this is a worry and you do not have the money to cover look on it as a warning and stop using too much leverage ok! (Yes Robbie stop being horrid to me).
Trades made for my sipp are exclusively available on my
email service (this is the website stuff plus exclusive trades mailed
to you earlier on update days). For subscription details mail me

Stockopedia as ever is SO useful. It really is a must have! And some fantastic talented writers/commentators too like Paul Scott.
Brilliant stats on all shares, amazing stock screens and even
discussion boards that are actually sensible and not barmy

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
