New balls, please
***Spend A Day With Me On June 14Th***
My next seminar is on June 14th near Heathrow.
If you want details for either email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "June seminar interested" in the subject line and I'll send you details, there is an early bookers' discount available ... more details below too.
Dates also for follow ups: July 1st follow up and July 13 for technical analysis, for more details see below somewhere! Those are for people who have already been to a seminar but want to refresh and follow up what they learned.
*****
I really enjoyed meeting some of you readers at the seminar on Friday, and it turned out to be a lovely day full of interesting surprises.
Judged by the feedback you enjoyed it too which is brilliant.
It's a bit weird that I am doing another one this Friday so close.. I'm only just recovering !! Remember it's the only real work I ever do! More from the event in a mo.
Well Christopher is now at the end of the football season and it certainly ended weirdly with the sending off of a player on the other team!
Not sure how many goals he scored this season but I'm going to guess over 50! A couple of tournaments around in the summer though.
I thought he ought to have a go at cricket - so took him to a two hour cricket camp for beginners.
And he loved it! So we went straight to Sportsdirect afterwards and bought a bat, ball and stumps.
Sportsdirect is some business - pile em high sell em cheap works.
Even though the stores are a mess and the staff haven't got a clue and you have to wait ages to get served, it is still an impressive business.
After we got back we played in the garden endlessly. I hit at least ten fours. Unfortunately I also hit a six but we had to recover that from a garden two houses away, whooops. I guess I was excited as I hadn't played cricket since I was 15 !
I also unfortunately hit a shot directly into the painful place so I had to fill him in about cricket "boxes".
Christopher's football coach was not very impressed with the cricket situation.
"It's a game for old men," he sniffed.
Well he is certainly right in my case. I felt rather sore in weird places afterwards with muscles I hadn't used in some time!
Anyway it makes a change playing cricket instead of football.
Though I am kind of hoping he doesn't get TOO into it so he wants to go and see a test match.
Because, well they last.. all day ... and honestly, it gets a bit boring for me... but maybe a one day game and we arrive really late.
My late father took me to a test match many years ago. I was listening to the commentary on the radio.
I knocked over a bottle of coke. It was a hot day. Immediately we were surrounded by coke crazed wasps.
We jumped up and down in our seats. We held up play.
"Will someone please tell those idiots to sit down," remarked the commentator..
So, a marvellous day out on Friday and without passing the sickbucket there were so many lovely people there.
And even better that I know many friends were made on the day over coffee, tea, waffles, lunch and pizza! I hope some of you form great trading partnerships.
After all it is a lonely occupation so nice to establish email trading buddies, probably better than those crazy bad bulletin boards where everyone fights and bitches.
I enjoyed lunch with some of you - hi to let's say the "married couple" very interesting to hear about your business ! And the friend you recommended should come to a seminar has booked this Friday's!
Thanks for all your input especially during the psychology bit, some excellent comments and ideas. I know one or two of you have already booked the July 1st follow up seminar so see some of you again.
It's always rewarding for me to see the penny drop with share trading - realising what you've done wrong and how you can put it right.
Seeing many of you "getting" why level 2 is so important, understanding more how to plan trades and getting the other timing tricks I was teaching you was briliant for me.
I hope you all do well and stay disciplined and used the tools I gave you - you should all have the seminar notes, if you didn't get them let me know.
The feedback has been great, thanks so much..
Here's a little of it:
"All in all, probably the best 600 quid I've spent in a along time (possibly ever, if that's not a sad reflection on my life!), so thank you"
"It was fantastic to meet others doing the same thing. I tend to keep my trading and investing as my guilty little secret and it was lovely to be able to talk freely about it without having to endure pitying looks and justifying myself the whole time!
"I was truly impressed by a) your patience with us, b) your overall knowledge and experience (seeing you in action confirmed that trading is not that hard, it just takes a lot of time to get the right level of experience) and c) how much effort you have put in during the day! Staying with us until late in the evening and really drilling through everything you have promised beforehand, that is true professionalism!"
Anyway enough, anymore and I am going to come across like a total self-obsessed (put rude word you like best here).
As usual look forwards to meeting all of you over coming on Friday. .
Good news is the chef has promised to make us waffles with chocolate sauce fresh and live during the first break.... can't wait to eat th... I mean meet you all!
I really enjoy these days and meeting readers. Every one ends up being a bit different as it all depends on who is there and sometimes there are some very different roads we end up in.
Often seminars are also great for my trading as inevitably in all that time some shares come up that I might not otherwise have spotted and researched. Indeed this happened at last week's.
So selfishly hoping to discover something new myself! Those of you coming doors open 9.30am... follow the signs to Naked Trader..
Please remember I am paying for your parking but you MUST give your reg number in to reception or else you will get a parking ticket!
Please come and register from 9.30am and then find a seat - coffees will be there waiting for you and there is coffee and tea on tap all day. The chef promises me there will be great snacks and lunch! It better be good or there will be trouble....
Please do not worry if you are late, it's easy to get delayed Mrs NT will direct you to a seat.
Grab a coffee and some choc and just relax, I promise to be gentle with you all. I hope you all enjoy the day, as it's live from the markets who knows what will come up. And as you know I talk plain English with none of that idiotic jargon. See you there!
If you missed this sold out one the next one is June 14th at Heathrow mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "June seminar interested". There is an early bird discount on offer.

I use IG Index for betting on the very small companies, the only spreadbet firm I can find that does the smaller ones making it possible to trade AIM cos tax free.

Many of you enjoy the cheap advfn toplists bronze deal through me as do many of you with the cheap level 2. However many of you say you want a half-way house to include real-time share prices always on.
So I'm pleased to announce I've managed to seal a new deal with Advfn for its "Silver" service - that's always on real-time share prices for a good saving (Bronze toplists etc are included in this).
The deal is via me you can save £30 for your first year by paying just £145 inc vat via me instead of £173.71
Just mail me for full details if you'd like it with "silver" in the subject line.
Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on June 14th
Price is £590 plus vat. (Early bird discount is on offer however)
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Oh no! Labour has come up with a policy - yes it's that old one again, a temporary VAT cut.
This is so feeble. It would cost the country a fortune, reduces prices by hardly anything at all, makes little difference.
And now add in all the red tape and hassle it is for businesses to change the vat rate.
It's even a pain for me as I have to charge vat. If it changes in the middle of a reporting period, it is a right hassle to work it all out. And it is all just peanuts.
A VAT cut to "fire economic growth" is such a pile of pants.
We all know we can't spend our way out of this.
Indeed Labour will now discover it is easy enough sitting back, coming up with policy during a downturn (which it helped to create) is not easy.
Three cheers for the shareholder who stood up to Barclays and asked why anyone really needed more than a million a year to live on.
So right. No-one does surely. These millions in bonuses are truly awful.
The only caveat is in London £2 million will only buy you a very modest house. Round where I live a bog standard three bedroom terraced house costs well over a mill - some as much as 2 mill or more.
However assuming the bankers already have a nice house surely no-one needs more than a million a year in spending money. What on earth can you spend it on once you have a house.
I know I am lucky and have a decent income but I don't need a million to enjoy some nice holidays.
How spooky is the story of the man and woman who were found floating in the pool of a luxury hotel.. on the weekend where a murder mystery was going to be staged?
How on earth did that happen? The murder mystery weekend was duly cancelled. It seems strange that two people can die together in a small pool, must be more to this than an accident?
A new series of the Apprentice starts next week. Of course now we know it isn't a serious business show it's an entertaining reality TV show.
All we want to do is have a laugh at the pomposity and arrogance of the participants (and the host!).
Sir Lord told the papers he ran the show like a "charity". I had to laugh at that.
He likes the publicity and being on the telly.
I'm not surprised Duncan Bannatyne says he is not going to date anyone else after various failed relationships.
It's not surprising he had trouble with the women in his life. After all if you're in bed you simply just can't keep a running commentary on things:
"I'm in... I'm out.. I'm in.. I'm out... I'm in.. I'm out... "
The new series the Politician's Husband was an entertaining watch though why is the ex Doctor Who in everything.

Do remember if you do bet you ought to treat sports spreadbetting as entertainment - and expect to lose! Also with spreadbetting work out what your max loss could be and make sure you can afford it! In other words if you say backed the favourite at 15 for a fiver and they come nowhere your max loss is £75.

Agree about facebook - the youngsters who leapt onboard when it started,
posting dire photos of them doing things they shouldn't are now grown up and
getting on in their careers and errrrrr wondering if that photo of them
mooning in the disco in Majorca was a good idea!
Nice to think I am not the only unsociable grump to not want to follow the
minutiae of my friends and colleagues mostly boring lives!
I am in the states just now and feel the Starbucks asking name thing is just
more marketing bollocks to get them noticed. If they just speeded up the
service I might go there but americans seem to need all this 'service
bollocks' to make them think they are getting their moneys worth.
Thanks Anne,
well of course I agree, it's nearly all bollocks!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!
Terry writes:
Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..
Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.
I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!
This compares to £473 direct from advfn inc vat so this deal saves you over a whopping £120! ADVFN level 2 also includes all the live trades made through Plus Markets which I find invaluable.
To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!
More on level 2 in my book and I spend hours on it at my seminars. So if you get level 2 and want to learn how to use it properly live, book my seminar!
ADVFN Bronze Offer
To take up the offer, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with Bronze in the subject line and I will tell you how to claim the deal.
Bronze is included inside the level 2 deal.
Advfn Silver Exclusive Offer
The deal is via me you can save nearly £30 for your first year by paying just £145 inc vat via me instead of £173.71
Just mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com if you'd like this deal with "silver" in the subject line.

Markets
Most people seem to think there is going to be a massive fall. Maybe they are right maybe they are not. Indeed when most think a market is going to do something it nearly always does the opposite - I simply continue to trade.
Some big commentators have predicted a big fall but you
must remember commentators get paid to have opinions and whatever mumbo jumbo elliott this fibionachi that, it's only guessing.
I continue to ignore all the noise and just try to follow it. Sure, maybe shares will crash in which case I'll be in some cash and have some shorts.
But who knows? Maybe there is further to run! In which case I will continue to be in.
Though of course as I said, I hope to have this summer off!
Some rather interesting shares came up at Friday's seminar, more than usual actually and I hope a few more come up at my seminar this Friday.
Of course I never know.. it depends on markets, and to some extent, a bit of luck what we might find on some share screens.
5 shares we discovered on Friday have made it to my shortlist which is a lot more than usual. Doesn't mean I will buy them rightaway but they are on a potential buying list.
Those of you coming to the seminar on Friday will see some of those on my shortlist of potential buys, why, and what price I am looking for for an entry. Next seminar is on June 14th at Heathrow, email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details.
One of those which I did buy was Restore (RST) which was bought at 127 today. (1,500 shares first, will go in again if they go lower probably)
It has a nice niche in document storage though could be argued a tad expensive, however the market likes this story and there is a very strong uptrend.
I argued with myself too as there is a defined trading range and looks possible it will hit 120 to buy again firsy but I've gone in on the basis I will probably hold for quite a bit to get a nice return.
It is buying up other companies in its area and this should gradually enhance profits and make it look cheap again not too far away.
I've rebought Kentz (KENZ), some at 369 and some at 375 live at the seminar - sold most at the top of its range and rebought as it hit near the bottom of its range.
Bit risky given it reports on Friday - and an example perhaps of where a guaranteed stop would be useful - ie, say the statement was bad then you're not risking too much should there be a big fall.
I'd be a bit surprised as all of its previous statements have been good but of course you never know. I'm hoping to sell again if it hits the top of its range again around 430-440. Anything bad, I am out!
I shorted Dominos (DOM) live at the seminar at 671 - it's a very good company but a valuation of over a billion looks a bit rich given it has nice growth but not super growth. However I would not hang about if it broke up in a strong market.
I've been building a bit of a stake in Parity (PTY) which we discussed in depth at the seminar.
I like companies that are trying to transform themselves from boring old company to shiny new more "with it" company and I've had some success finding companies like these including Filtronic, Carclo and St Ives where I have made substantial gains.
I think Parity could join them - it is rated pretty low but management is turning a company that has struggled to even make a profit at all to one where there profits could be big if their new digital strategy takes off.
It is early days and of course it might now pay off. Anyhow I started buying at the 25p level, more in the late 20s, some at 31 and on Monday this week more at 33.5.
A statement is due soon so this could either end up a goodie or a stinker - but I think it was worth the risk because if it is a goodie, there could be some top notch gains ahead.
I took profits on Booker at 120 for a profit of £586 . Was intending to hold it for longer but it hits a brick wall at 120 so wonder if I can repeat the same trade I sold the last bit of NMC for a profit of £2425. It hit nearly 340 but then began to fall after its statement so it seemed a good time to bank the rest though I got nowhere near the high.
Pendragon has reached its target and it's been a slow mover recently so I've been driven out of that trade for a profit of £984. The recent Abcam short was closed for a nice profit as it started to rise from 420.
Portfolio Highlights
Coastal continues to be a lovely oiler having trebled on the first buy.
Huntsworth made a nice announcement of a £36m investment from a Chinese company.. looks good for its future.
Lovely performance from the lovely Porvair which continues to climb most days.
Loq has headed back up after its falls and should be less volatile now still timed my money by five on the first lot.
Filtronic seems happy in the 60s. Unrealised profits for the site over £20,000 on this and banked profits over £4,000.
Sepura has been rerated higher, might pause now before another rerating.
And long-term open positions on the site now total a magnificent profit of over £300,000.
Telecom Plus has amazingly now bashed through 1200 ! Running this winner from 18p, the 80s and the early 100s has paid off. Website profits of well over £100,000 and personal profits of more £400,000. I just continue a long-term holder. One could argue it is a bit overcooked for right now but I guess institutions are happy to pay a premium for a quality company. The dividends give me a substantial income.
32 red holds its gains nicely. Holding for a hopeful bid!
GB Group reported great results ahead of expectations and went up nicely that continues as a long-term cracker. A quid is the next target and it is slowly heading there.
Crapetshite seems to be coming down, will the robots crack?
Costain continues to be a nice surprise through 300 seems the limit for now.
Nichols gave out a positive statement today but might not be enough for it to clear a tenner for a while but I sit on a fabulous profit.
My dull choice Hellerman Tyton has risen slowly this week and now sits 10 points higher, maybe it won't be so dull after al...I still think a nice gentle risk free rise up to 250 is on the cards. Insurers DirectLine and Esure remain soundly dull too.
Support at 6200 and it stops around 6500 . I'd be happy enough if it stays that way for now.
Open profits for the site have bubbled over £300,000.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.igmarkets.com/nakedtrader
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets
on Wednesday afternoons.
