Thanks for the feedback from the last online event.

Some of the trades to be we worked on look to have paid off.

Next online event is May 8th where I'll be especially looking at what to do during volatility.

Well, a twist to my recent tales, our young son has just unexpectedly returned from Dubai.

Much relief for us, we don't have to worry about what's happening there or how safe he is.

We got a call from his lovely boss telling us sales had fallen to such a low level he couldn't keep the staff on for now, and his view was sales wouldn't take off again till 2027.

That's even if the war ends as it won't be perceived as safe again for a while.

We felt sorry for our kid, as he'd built a nice life for himself over there.

He realised for now his Dubai dream was over and he came back via a visit to his grandma in Ireland.

It's a terrible shock for him.

He had a great job over there and with the property market moribund in the uk he feels there are few prospects here.

So, if any of you run a company that needs a good sales guy remotely or if you have an office around London let me know.

He is fearless and can cold call, close deals and is very personable. He'll work hard for you!

His boss in Dubai is hoping to have him back from the start of 2027 which is his forecast for a return to more normal times over there.

Of course, we are delighted to have him around again.

Though cooking for 3 instead of 2 is a bit of a shock..

He's currently doing an online course on how to sell AI programmes to companies.

Seems like a plan, as that's the "in thing".

Of course we'll support him in the meantime and have lent him the garden room to work from.

The lad and I had a nostalgic walk around Fulham last night, remembering all the years there.

The parks where he used to play, Fulham FC where he was in the development squad.

One of the best things about being human are the lovely memories of good times.

Nothing like Easter, love it.

It's like Xmas without all the pressure, hassle, darkness, bad weather and terrible music.

And we know good weather's on the way, wasn't yesterday fab!

Thanks so much to those of you contributing to Thursday's live radio show

If you missed it, it repeats 24/7 here:

https://fast.citrus3.com:2020/public/nakedtrader

Remember to press play!

We should be doing another retreat in this year in early November.

Places are limited to only ten and you need to apply for one, we chat to you and make sure it's right for you.

Interested? Email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "2026 retreats interested". We'll then put you on a list to contact and allocate places on a first come first served basis.
People keep asking me which broker to use for their new ISA.

I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.

Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.

Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.

II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.

If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.

Seems like a no brainer here is the link:

https://tinyurl.com/mr3asr2x

If they ask my acc is burnsrobbieburns@aol.com.

I did a podcast with Zeus Capital and Nick Searle who is the most lovely chap.

He even posted a lovely handwritten thank you letter afterwards. Sheer class.

You can hear be blabbing on about how I came to be a trader and suchlike.

https://zeuscapital.co.uk/adp-podcast/ scroll down to find the one with me.

Took the credit card tracker with me to Sri Lanka. Used it twice to locate where the cards were!

Do get some credit card style tags they are wonderful and just over £20!

Link to the ones I bought:

https://amzn.to/40cyCTu

Put one in your passport wallet and one in your credit card wallet or purse.

Thank me when inevitably something gets lost.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.

Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.

My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.

You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.

You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.

No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.

You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.

If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you some info.

Thanks for the feedback from recent events.

Gary:

" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

Here we go, "dynamic pricing" is now on the way for UK supermarkets.

"Dynamic pricing" means, at the time you need something most you're going to have to pay more!

I say ban it!

One in three companies plan to use "Market responsive pricing tools".

In other words, anything you want at the time you want it could suddenly cost more.

There you are, at the supermarket, it was a hot day yesterday.

The tub of ice cream you could have bought the day before for £5 is now £8.

Prices can be changed up and down at the flick of a button.

And if supermarkets know everything about you, what's to stop them raising the price of something it knows you're about to buy?

Soon you won't be able to budget because you'll have no idea what they will be charging you from one hour to the next.

Just one of many reasons AI will help to push up the price of nearly everything.

The Government made the right choice to ban Kanye West.

His excuses of mental problems just don't wash.

Songs about Hitler and his various support for anti Jewish organisations are horrific.

He needs to study history properly and understand what has happened in the past and why it must never happen again.

It looks obvious Iran won the war so far at least.

The country now looks even more dangerous than ever.

It's charging a million in crypto for every passage.

That'll make it easy to build up its forces again.

This isn't going away anytime soon.

In reality we have super idiotic narcissist men in charge of every country and they all seem to want a fight.

TEHRAN ***** Apple
Just started the new series 3 and it is terrific.

Hugh Laurie joins in the action as a nuclear inspector in Iran who's in effect a spy.

There's never a moment wasted here.

Brilliant writing too as both Israeli and Iranian sides are shown and how hostilities affect both countries.

YOUR FRIEND AND NEIGHBOURS *** Amazon

John Hamm is back playing the ex rich banker who now prefers to steal from his neighbours,

It's pretty silly but undemanding fare and funny in places.

There's a snappy, clever and witty script but the problem now is the premise which hasn't really moved on.

BAIT **** Amazon
Inventive comedy with Riz Ahmed playing an actor who is close to getting the James Bond role.

Some excellent laughs, especially from the Pakistani family that surrounds him.

His mum is the star of the show as she worries about his future, the dad has a few cracking lines too. Worth a watch.

POWER THE DOWNFALL OF HUW EDWARDS **** Ch5

A good effort here as Martin Clunes pulls off an impressive turn as the troubled news anchor.

Everything pretty much rings true in this riveting drama, even though we know what happens.

Huw Edwards is not happy with it apparently but you'd have to say it feels pretty close to the mark.

The BBC now removed all Scott Mills hosted Top of The Pops from its Friday repeats.

Given all the other TOTPs that have been removed featuring various dodgy presenters...there can't be a lot of shows left to broadcast.

How's about that then guys and gals?

New Clarkson

Jeremy Clarkson's very funny take on farming is just out and is already in the top 20 books.

The latest escapades from the Diddly Squat farm.

Lovely entertaining writing while also giving the lowdown on all the hardships faced by farmers.

The book is very good value around half off the recommended price at just £11 here:

Markets

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

Don't forget to listen to me live on my radio show from 9am on Thursday April 16th, see near the top of this diary page for more details.
Well, if you never experienced volatility before you just did!

Some crazy days all depend on one crazy narcissist and what he says next.

It looked like the end of the world on Tuesday then overnight all was great again.

Then of course today it's "Hang on not sure.."

Remember the market is always reacting based on the two greatest human emotions, fear and greed.

Fear being the biggest one.

Our brains are actually designed for fear, we need fear to stop us getting eaten.

When you've got basically alpha male narcissists attacking each other with none of them wanting to lose there is never going to be a straightforward end.

I guess we all hope they aren't so crazy they don't just kill all of us to protect their silly egos.

What happened to me then?

As I said last time I had gone into some cash and shorts but I'd mainly stayed with the portfolio deciding to ride it out with shorts helping.

My index shorts were cashed out via trailing stops while I was asleep with some very nice profits indeed on index shorts.

Staying with the portfolio and buying some things that looked too cheap over the last 4 weeks also paid off.

All the shares I bought in March and February are now showing very nice profits.

Onto a bit of detail then, starting with some buys.

Given a lot of companies have been beaten down I've been exploring some of the bargain basement prices we noted at the online seminar

One company I'd say is now in the bargain basement territory is FRP Advisory.

Sadly as it's in insolvency, 2026 should be an excellent year.

Pe ratio looks too low now at just 9 with a lovely yield of over 5%.

Net cash has lifted nicely by 24pc.

Its last statement felt confident that it was building its business in various related areas of its markets.

There should be a trading statement in about a month which hopefully will be a catalyst for an increase in share price.

A nice one I think that has risen a bit already with some further gains to come I believe.

I'm looking at a return to around the 140p area where I would bank profits.

Gaming Realms looks interesting after a recent downturn in its share price.

This developer of mobile focused gaming content put out a pretty confident statement last week.

Net cash has risen very nicely to nearly £18m and its rating considering its likely growth now looks too low.

Its licensing led growth is increasing and it is buying back its own shares in the market.

For now, looks unlikely the shares will go much lower and with some patience, some gains to be had.

Also in the games area I bought Everplay.

It's an indie developer of various games and must be considered in the more risky area.

A couple of duff games and things don't look so bright.

But it has an absolute shedload of cash.

With a pe now under 10 and a fabulous PEG ratio, recent falls now look overdone.

I picked up some Altitude Software yesterday after a trading statement.

This company has pretty much put itself up for sale and my feeling is after the statement someone who wants it will have to pay more than the current price.

Some growth is now expected and growth could come from its autonomous AI finance division which looks like its major focus.

It might sell the whole of itself, or part. In any event it seems likely to me there could be some action here soon and downside looks limited.

I just bought a few and wait and see what materialises.

As you can obviously see I am keener than ever in these kind of volatile times to buy into companies with big cash piles.

Don't forget you can find some of these at my Dash For Cash screen on Sharescope.

For a free trial and a discount, link here

https://www.sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader

My screen is on the home page, just scroll down to find it.

The algoes also like SDI with some good scores on stockopedia especially for quality.

With a pe under 10 and a good PEG looks a good time to be a buyer.

Unusually for me it has some net debt but the debt isn't big enough to be a worry.

H1 results looked pretty strong and it is buying up other companies.

I think it's worth taking advantage of market weakness for a position here.
I've bought some Volex (to add to the small amount I bought way lower, and regret taking profits on it way too early!)

This is now signalling intent by announcing a move to the main market and I agree with that.

This move will bring Volex to the attention of the bigger fund managers especially once the moves takes place, so it should get promoted in September.

Onto sales.

Had a lovely run with Lucedo so sold the website shares for a profit of £2,344.

I have kept a few personally.

And some shorts got bounced out but for nice profits.

Raspberry Pi shorts paid off and easily reached target with profits of
£5,269 and £8,358.

It's been going up and it looks like it's nearly time to short it again.

Meanwhile, due to the big rises early yesterday I got bounced out of all the airline shorts while I was having tea and toast thanks to trailing stops.

So although I didn't make as much as I could have done if I had taken profits on Tuesday, I still ended up with decent sums.

So profits were Easyjet £750, Wizz Air £3,280 and Jet 2 £790.

Tempted to reverse into longs on these, but I'm going to wait a bit as with Trump you never know and things could kick off again.

Given the massive gains in the FTSE yesterday I lobbed on a new short, after all 350 points rise in a day was quite a lot.

Even if the war does end, it's probably near as high as it's going to go for now.
TN's Guaranteed stops have proved fantastic and worked well for me when there is a sudden big move.

Once I got the previous short stops into profit I knew I couldn't possibly lose which is a great feeling.

Remember to press the guaranteed stop button among the stop options. There is a small premium if it gets hit but not much.

Link here:

https://tradenation.com/en-gb/naked-trader/

Elsewhere Me Group this morning announced a terrific deal with Asda.

No offence if you love Asda but Asda patrons are the most likely users of its massive automated laundry services!

700 machines will be installed.

Once in, these are cash cows requiring not a lot of maintenance. Still looks an attractive entry point in this nicely growing area of the market.

I guess now we have to see what's the next development in the Iran war and be aware what went up might come down again so care might be required.

The Stockopedia quality algo is very useful and best not to buy anything with a score under 60 ish.

Stockopedia is a great resource if you don't have it there is a free trial and discount:

https://www.stockopedia.com/nakedtrader/

The algoes help to avoid buying total stinkers taking the emotion out of it.

If you want a look at my Dash For Cash screen that is picking out some of the best companies to look at then make a sub to Sharescope (it is on the home page).

Pay for a month, they refund you no quibble if you decide it is not for you.

Link here, big discount and no quibble refund:

https://www.sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader

Best wishes to all of you with the ongoing tricky market and let us all hope hostilities cease soon. The killing is shocking.

If you are in any doubt possibly the best course is to do nowt.

And if like me you are doing a little buying, have a plan to get out quick should the war escalate further.

Better to pull out quick for small losses rather than let them build.

Then you can in the future buy back at a lower price.

There are two more trades but I have to save those for my subscribers, after all they have to get something extra don't they.

If you'd like to subscribe let me know. Well, it isn't strictly a subscription, you only pay once and you get till I stop doing it, likely when I kick the bucket!

I can't be bothered with monthly or yearly payments so once in, you're in and that's it.

You get all the website material and trades delivered to your inbox earlier than the site is updated every other Thursday, extra trades, any US trades and high risk ideas I use for my sipp.

Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:

"Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.

But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.

I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.

Boy, what a gripper!

Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.

The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!

Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.

And they are all certain of their own brilliance...

Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..

Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

Link here: https://amzn.to/3QNhAHY
I've enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Money".

It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.

if you want to better with how you invest, trade or spend money it's a very worthwhile read!

Amazon link here:

Spreadbetting

I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
