MY NEW PSYCHOLOGY BOOK "TRADE LIKE A SHARK" IS JUST OUT!!! DISCOUNT OFFER:
My brand new book on trading psychology is just out! Available now for next day delivery.
Though it says it isn't out till Sept 26th that's because we don't want amazon to have it for a bit! If you order it here, you get it next day even though it says sept 26th.
It's called "Trade Like A Shark".
I read books on psychology in the past and liked bits of them but felt there was something missing. They either got too technical or went on too much making me bored and I realised no-one had talked to those who had lost a lot of money.
I very much enjoyed writing it "" indeed bizarrely I learned a lot about trading psychology from writing it and via all the traders/investors I've talked to, had emails chats with over the years. Thanks to all of you who contributed real stories.
The book covers things that can go wrong, how to fix them. How to stop bad habits, gambling, trading with a clear head. How not to panic, managing trades, trading in a down market.
Also how to tackle the 8 deadly emotions, figuring out what sort of trader you are... tackling fear, greed, ego, danger zones and traps.
Everything really comes from hundreds of traders I've met or had conversations with - whether a beginner or advanced I hope all the info there will be useful and especially in the current post-brexit crazy market. Learn how to trade like a shark, not a fish!!!

Please note: I am NOT on twitter or Facebook any accounts using
"Naked Trader" is NOT me!
Please note the september 19th seminar is sold out - really sorry.
But I have booked an extra date, Oct 7th, so mail me for details on that.
I'm heading off for the usual summer break so this is the last update of the summer, back with regular updates from September 8th.
Hope you all have a great summer!
We've got a couple of hols booked - first off is Italy... we're going hiking around some mountains apparently... then it's back here for a bit and then a trip to Ireland, and then we finish off the hols in Spain.
My young son has lots of sports camps on the go. Lucky him!
Thanks to those of you who wrote to me with comments on my new book, really pleased you like it.
Most of you tell me you see yourselves as one of the characters I outline in the book.
I hope it helps some of you develop your trading and you'll find it's a book that you can dip into when feeling down about your trading. So many comments but here is one :
"Just thought I'd say that I'm re-reading your new book, Trade Like A Shark. It's very good and, probably more importantly, incredibly useful.
I've already reduced my Twitter use. The section on "what kind of a trader are you?" was a real eye opener. When I approached this I thought "I'm already a shark" but I had to be brutally honest with myself and I know that I am not, but I'm getting there."
I've had some other similar comments, and hope the book helps break bad habits. One or two have asked is the book the same as Naked Trader? No, it is totally different and totally new - it's 100% psychology! Anyway see above for link to buy.
Great to meet so many lovely people that came to the seminar and thanks for the feedback on it. Good to hear some of you already doing well and using all the level 2 stuff we did.
In particular good to chat to let's say an older member of the audience who decided to change tack, you know who you are and I am dead impressed.
Mentions to Kerry from up north, Lila with some penetrating questions, John with some useful stories and whoever bought me the gin and tonic!
Comments included:
"Thanks very much for the seminar yesterday, it was great fun. Usually if I have to sit in a lecture theatre for 10 hours, I lose the will to live and nod off, but yesterday I felt energised all day!
"I really enjoyed the way you went through everything in such detail and never appeared phased by bone questions from the floor (I asked a few!)"
A large number of you managed to stay through to the late finish. Even better for me one or two nice trades came up which I have duly bought!
I had an amazing time at Wimbledon last week and thanks to Spreadex for a lovely day out - they had a big house right next to the ground with an amazing BBQ and a champagne breakfast plus Pat Cash sitting at the table with some stories.
The tennis was great too, I saw Federer, Serena Williams and Andy Murray play. Andy was definitely better than Federer so I thought he would win the whole thing.
In a busy sporting week also went to Irish night at Kempton where with more luck than skill I did a £10 forecast bet - the horses did finish 1st and second and I picked up £590 for my tenner which is the most I have ever won on a single bet!
Indeed the tote lady said she had to "go the bank" to get the winnings!
Well, that makes up for some of what I have probably lost on horses over the years....
Seminar news: Extra date: Oct 7th (Sep 19th is sold out)

Beginners and improvers welcome! Come and spend the day with me, the markets and some lovely people - and of course, lunch, lots of sugary snacks, and even live chocolate waffle making in the teabreak!
My seminars are designed for beginners, dabblers and improvers and deals with everything from how to look for winners, how to research, spreadbetting, level 2 use how to time trades and short, how to use advfn properly and run your portfolio without having to spend money on systems and tipsters.. and tons more.
A lot of the day comes directly from the live markets and I show you many of the tricks I use to get good prices live. And there might even be the odd live trade or 2!
Here's some feedback from from "D"
'It's obvious from his site Robbie Burns is a good market analyst and shrewd stock-picker. He is also a highly opinionated commentator on everything from TV shows to food. Therefore I expected his seminar to be 75% entertainment, 15% general exposition for beginners and-- if we were lucky-- 10% of something I could use to help me invest. But I could not have been more wrong.
The opinions on food and politics etc. though genuine, are I believe a bit of disguise or misdirection for there is a real touch of rebel genius here. And in the seminar, which is 95% hardball, he actually takes you candidly right into the mental process involved in his successful trading, making it a pretty amazing display, even showing his own investment accounts right there on the screen. You can see at once why so many of us are merely stabbing in the dark with our investments.
This is a genuine coaching session in how to trade like him if you put in the graft. I have only bought one stock since, as I am waiting for the tools he recommends, but I got the price down by using his tactics and I cannot recommend the seminar too highly if you are going there to learn. It must be taxing on him to let us at such length and in such detail into the process, which has made him so much money (for--unlike so many other so-called experts the seminars are not a day job). My advice therefore would be to sign up for this while he is still prepared to do it.'

When I left my full-time job to trade it really helped having another income: this I got from part-time selling energy and phone services to people and getting a cut of their use of their home services forever! I still get enough from it now to pay all my bills. I am a great believer in multiple incomes and this is a great one in my opinion as anyone could do it.

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
Oct 7th 2016 NEAR HEATHROW
Sep 19th is sold out
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the extra date Naked Trader seminar on Oct 7th
Price is £650 plus vat. However there is a substantial early bird discount on offer. Mail me for details.
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Oct seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards!
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Its spreads are surprisingly tight and interestingly an automated stop loss is applied to each trade - so beginners know what their max loss is from the outset. A super site for beginners.

Naked Rambling
The blokes just spend most of their time at the bar exchanging "banter" (Banter = bullying).
May looks tough and focused, exactly what's needed. She won't be spending her time "Bantering" at the bars or drinking herself into a stupor.
And lots more women ministers too. Just as women are better traders then men I'm certain they can run the country better than men - I'm brave saying this as I suspect 95% of my readers are men!
The new government looks more like a serious one. More work, less play for them. Personally I would take all the "bars" out of parliament. They're supposed to running the country not drinking alcohol.
Boris manages to get a top job. I can see why: I'm sure his Hugh Grant style British bumbling thing will play well abroad. May has been ruthless just like a good trader cutting losses. Good to see Gove getting fired - he really deserves it for acting like Littlefinger from Game of Thrones.
David Cameron, for all his faults (bit of a PR guy) really steadied the country during hard times and deserved his applause. He seems a well-intentioned nice man, just possibly a little lightweight. We can just hope May and her team get on with it and sort out the Brexit mess left behind as well as they can. Good luck to them.
But what the hell is going on with Labour? A complete mess. The geography supply teacher is refusing to leave his unexpected promotion to headmaster and determined to carry on teaching.
He is opposing the PE teacher who wants the job instead. Thing is would you want either of them running the country? Me neither.
At the mo it has really developed into two separate parties, maybe a split would be a good thing as the two camps are so far apart. Carry on as they are, and they will not get back into power for decades.
Fantastic to read driverless cars crashing or causing accidents, the longer they stay off the roads the better. Before we all get turned into mindless robots.
Shame the Euro games were so dull. It's a shame Portugal won with their very negative defending tactics. Come on, we want entertainment! England were terrible.
Billions continues to be the most entertaining series of the year. Pure escapism at its best.
You know a series is good when you want the baddie to win. However what's great is it shows how people on both sides of the financial divide are flawed in their own way.
And the battle between public service or private money is interesting too.
We've just started "The Girlfriend Experience" on Amazon, which looks very promising. The new series of Mr Robot has been launched, hope it's as good as series one. What's happened to Netflix though? Not much on there at the moment.

I agree with comments about Dr Who and Breaking Bad. I used to enjoy Dr. Who years ago but I think it's worn out, it's all about celebrity now, like everything else on telly.
I recently was enjoying the Sopranos a friend let me borrow (fascinating story lines) and my son Rob in Australia (an irrelevance to you of course), he said if you like Sopranos you'll love Breaking Bad. Wow was he ever right. I got the full set from Amazon (apart from the last season). I'm having to eke it out it's so brilliant I don't want it to end, that's the sad bit. What about the uncle in the desert in the wheelchair with the bell strapped to the arm of the chair, the missus and me just fell about and many more just brilliant set ups dragging out every emotion.
Agree Dave, love Breaking Bad. Only five to go for me and I won't spoil what happens for you except it gets more and more addictive!

"For throwing your heart, soul and energy into one fact-packed, full-on and exhaustingly educational day: FIVE stars with no hesitation!!
Met some really nice people too - like me, nervous that it was the most we'd ever spent on a whole day of anything (had we made arses of ourselves?) But no one felt short-changed, especially when you were still going strong when we all wanted to go to bed! One of your delegates, Susan, back for a second time, said to me unequivocally, "you will go away absolutely inspired." I can't disagree.
Thanks Gary, hope you make some money!

Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.

If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too. This includes asking me what to do with a share, what I might "think" about a share, or deconstructing any of the buys I mention here. I would be grateful, see FAQ for more on this. Of course more than happy to answer general questions not related to specific shares.
****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets rarely fail to surprise! It was deemed a cert we'd get an interest rate cut today but we didn't. I think that's right. It's too early.
A few days after Brexit it was almost as if it had never happened. Indeed every time we looked at a chart at the seminar on Monday you could see a Brexit "Blip" - a thin line going down.
A few days later, share back to where it was. Except for property shares, some engineers, leisure stocks.
Two days after Brexit then a week after looked the times to be a buyer. The FTSE has stormed higher, and the FTSE 250 is starting to come back.
With the summer months often being tricky and the fact I'm away a lot and want to enjoy myself I did some bargain buying but I've still got a ton of cash on the sidelines.
Bargain buys will be ruthlessly chopped. Liquidity can be a problem over the summer so bigger position should always be checked.
When I do a seminar it always amazing me that nearly everyone who has already traded still sit on losers 20-50% plus.
Instead of getting rid, they cling on in the hope they "come back". At a table of around 6 people over lunch each had more than one big loser sitting there.
And I know one - Kelly - has already cut all her losers after the seminar, well done! Thanks for all the kind comments on the event, so glad many of you have taken level 2 and are now using it and also those of you now trying out direct market access trying to buy shares at "sell" prices which I can manage a lot, so cutting out the spread. Easier than you thought, right?
I discuss what a bad idea to hold losers in my new book "Trade Like A Shark".
That's my new book on trading psychology (totally different to Naked Trader).
You'll hear stories from all sorts who have screwed up and why but how to put things right and how bad psychology in your brain is responsible for your losses.
Also learn how to tackle the 8 deadly emotions and how to wean yourself off twitter and bulletin boards both of which are deadly dangerous and addictive leading you to follow others mindlessly.
To get "Trade Like A Shark" with next day delivery and ten weeks before official release on amazon click https://harriman-house.com/tradelikeashark and tap in NTSHARK at checkout.
Meanwhile if you'd like to spend a day with me, I have booked an extra date as the sep 19th seminar is sold out so the next bookable seminar is now Oct 7th- a big early bird discount is on offer.
Also new is a follow up seminar which will be on October 10th for those who've been to a seminar before and want more in depth and a day of live trading. Mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details on either.
Post brexit it was time for a change for me. Usually I look for companies on the the up but this binary event meant for a change it was time to look at stuff that suddenly got bombed out or oversold.
As I chat about in Trade Like A Shark you have to keep on top of things and be prepared to change strategy if need be.
So I looked at property, leisure and motor dealers, all sectors marked down too heavily. One or two of these trades were bought live at Monday's seminar where also a number of interesting trades came up.
The property market is firing back up - I bought some more McCarthy And Stone (MCS) again on the basis that the price had gone so far down I'd almost bid for the whole thing myself. Retirement homes aren't going to go out of fashion! To add to property I also picked up some Inland (INL). That one also looked very oversold after Brexit.
The airline sector has taken a bashing most of all Easyjet (EZJ) I hardly ever buy airlines but the massive fall has tempted me in - I reckon at this kind of price it now has bid potential. I reckon Easyjet will fly a lot higher and I don;t even need to come back to pre brexit levels to make a nice profit.
The motor trade has been well and truly sold off and so I wanted to take advantage of that - I picked up some Lookers (LOOK) last week and live at the seminar. Went in for quite a few as the rating on it is so low. Debt is low and it has some property assets too. Looking for the share price to accelerate up to the 125p area.
Dignity (DTY) has been such a great company - across all accounts I must be up nearly £100,000. Up £33,000 on it on one spreadbet alone as those of you who came to the seminar saw. After all, as a chain of funeral parlours they will never be short of custom, and I bought on a strange post brexit dip. At this rate expect will hold onto them till I am in need of their services. Looks like a dead cert.
Also looking a dead cert on a massive markdown (Why?) was Pets At Home (PETS). Trust me, no-one will stop spending on their pets because of Brexit and I happily bought heavily as it went down - it should easily regain its ground and go higher. If it doesn't then I will really have paws for thought.
Also on leisure Character Group (CCT) looked oversold and the maker of Peppa Pig toys looks at its bottom and I have picked some more up. Could be a nice 25% gain there to come.
I added to Entertainment One (ETO) which makes Peppa Pig! That one again went down for no real reason. Still looks like a bid target with its library valued at a billion dollars. An addition also to NCC, AVON and SCT - Avon deals mainly in dollars so should be a winner from Brexit with the weak pound adding more than 8% to earnings, another 100p rise I think to come from AVON.
Finally GB Group got a fantastic fund raising away at 275p to buy up another company - with the outgoing head cheese now selling his shares the shares should start to motor up. Should easily get back up to 325p highs at least from here once the share overhang has gone. You're getting the same price as the institutions.
Next 15 with its dollar earnings is being re-rated, could see that heading up over 300.
Recent buys BBOX, Osirium Tech and Photo Me have all climbed nicely after the buys in the llast update.
Your guess is as good as mine as to what happens over the summer. Bound to be some hairy times and volatile movements but that is all part of the cut and thrust of it.
Just make sure you have a plan with each trade and don't hang onto anything that starts to lose big. Maybe over the summer we will gradually learn a bit more about what Brexit means for the economy.
Good luck, see you back here in September.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.
