Bad words must be kicked into touch
***Spend A Day With Me On May 3Rd***
My next available seminar is now Friday May 3rd near Heathrow. Unfortunately the April 26th seminar has sold out so I've added this new May date for those of you who I had to turn away for the sold out event or who couldn't make it.
If you want details email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "May seminar interested" in the subject line and I'll send you details, there is an early bookers' discount available ... more details below too.
*****
I was watching Match of the Day with my 8-year-old footie crazy son Christopher.
We were watching the QPR game. I tutted.
"There you go - Zamora f**** it up as usual, thank God we sold him" I said absent-mindedly then realising I was talking to a kid not an adult!
"Hey you used a bad word," he says. "Erm, no I didn't," I lied unconvincingly.
"I said sucked. Zamora sucks it up."
"No you didn't," he said.
Oh well. At least I have persuaded him the crowd shouts "The referee is a winker."
And anyway he did boast mummy has taught him two very bad words which she apparently uses about other drivers when they are in the car..
We had a good weekend of football. Our team beat Tottenham away and Christopher's team won a football tournament and he has his first trophy.
He wasn't started in the first came and came on as a sub. He was so annoyed about that he scored two goals in his first two minutes. Cue parental pride.
We went to a lovely wedding over the weekend.
We stayed at the hotel it was held at, the brilliant Chewton Glen, a marvellous hotel.
The wedding was perfect - an amazing meal in a glorious setting, some nicely done speeches and good company too.
I was so pleased for my friend: he is one of the nicest, kindest and genuine people you could ever hope to meet and he is crazy about his new wife, who matches the same description.
No airs and graces about the event. Just a great crowd of lovely people.
Entertainment during the meal came from a fun trio of opera singers - they pretend to be waiters for a while till you think they are staff of the hotel then burst into song.
I realised I was the only bloke not wearing a tie but I have to be forgiven, I haven't had a job since 2001 and I don't have one and it never occurs to me to put on one, and even if I had one I can't remember how you tie it.
In fact all I had with me was a dinner jacket and a white shirt. By the evening I realised I forgot to bring anything else with me so spent most of Sunday in that get up now looking totally out of place especially at Fleet services on the way back.
Everyone else in jeans and t-shirts. Me in a dinner jacket. Embarrassing!
Well, it's exciting - the builders have started work on the house.
Paying them in weekly instalments to be on the safe side. Scaffolding is up, work on a loft and extension has begun!!
Now I have to see if a few more spreadbets will pay the builders, so far so good.
Best not to tell them eh?
Looks like I have to stump up 3 grand a week for quite a few weeks....
Mrs NT is project managing so that means I bet tea breaks are going to be on a tight minimum. Right lads, break's over, get off your I phones and get on with it!
Look forwards to seeing some of you again at the follow up seminar this Friday...
We kick off at 10am for I hope a lively and interesting day of live markets.. I hope some good stuff comes up and there may be some live trades. We will see where the day takes us, I look forwards to seeing some of my "regulars" - especially the Irish contingent!
Thanks too for all the lovely comments coming in from the last starter seminar.
I wish you all well in your trading. Remember: follow the trading plan! Also thanks to some of you who have come to previous seminars reporting some success. That is rewarding too.
If you missed that seminar but would like to come and spend a day with me and some lovely readers mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com for details with "May seminar interested" in the subject line as the next is on Friday May 3rd - The April 26th date has sold out, apologies.
There is currently a decent early bird discount on offer!

Naked Trader Seminar Latest News
***APRIL 26TH DATE HAS SOLD OUT **
Fancy spending a day with me, learning all the ways I have learned over the years to find good shares and play the markets? Well, you can at one of my seminars!
Booking is open for the Naked Trader seminar on May 3rd
Price is £590 plus vat. (Early bird discount is on offer however)
That includes three course lunch, coffees, snacks etc.
The seminar is mainly aimed at beginners and dabblers though improvers are welcome too.
Topics covered using live market feeds all day include: Market psychology, level 2 - a simple guide to how to use it for better timing; how to value companies; finding companies that are about to rise. I will also cover techniques for handling events such as the recent meltdown and volatility.
Spreadbetting: How to use it to gain an edge and go short. Market makers - how they work and how to beat them; how to stop losing money and make it instead and plenty more.
How to plan trade entries and exits - how to research companies and understand reports, plus all those niggly questions you always wanted to ask. How to set stop losses and targets. Charts and how to use them.
Also covered: Market maker tricks: How to spot tree shakes and use them in your favour, How to tell when NOT to buy a share. I use live ADVFN all day with lots of level 2 and looks at all kind of live market data.
The idea behind the seminar is SIMPLICITY. I don't use jargon or fancy words - everything is in PLAIN ENGLISH! No question is too stupid and the event is held in a friendly relaxed and supportive environment.
The idea is you will come away from the event I hope a wise and better investor with lots of new ideas. I try and translate complex topics into easy bite size pieces. I also aim for it to be entertaining as well as instructive.
If you are interested please e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "April seminar interested" in the subject line and I will send you full details of the event including comments from those who have come to previous seminars and you can then decide whether you would like to come. See you there!
One seminar attendee Clare wanted to write a testimonial about her experiences at the seminar which follows now!
"I've just come back buzzing from one of Robbie's seminars. What a day! He's just brilliant, and manages to pack an awful lot into one day, and with his enthusiastic and humorous delivery the day just flies by. There are no gimmicks, no sell, no "˜get-rich-quick' promises, just his own solid, sound approach which he has learnt over the years and which works.
He shows you how to minimise the risks and maximise the profits and points out the banana skins on the way. Where the seminar really comes into its own is when he teaches using live level 2. Hearing him talk through his thought processes and reasoning is invaluable, and really brings home everything from the book. He has endless patience answering peoples' questions, and really seems to care that everybody understands.
On top of that, you meet some really nice like minded people and swap e mail addresses, you're plied with
chocolates and coffee all day, have a great lunch and spend the evening getting tiddled with Robbie in the
bar afterwards! You might even get to see the amazing crocodile boots . . . .
Don't worry about the cost, it's easily worth it, and you'll soon make it back with your new-found investment skills, and in what you're no longer losing. If you're thinking of going along to his next seminar, whether you're a novice or an experienced trader, don't hesitate ""just go!
Thanks Clare, did you want the tenner in cash, or will a cheque do?

Naked Rambling
Well I just watched the budget.
Of course there was nothing much there at all, bit of fiddling while Rome burns.
Same as, no big ideas.. Still, no duty on AIM shares I like! Though why do we have to wait till next year?
I thought Ed Milliband's response was really childish - the "Hands up" thing again.
Anyway here were my ideas:
- Cut taxes and introduce flat taxes:
For one year trial a flat tax system and immediately cut taxes for everyone.
I would suggest 20% flat tax for earnings of £10k plus and 30% for over £50k, finally 35% for over 500k.
Do away with all the plethora of tax rules allowing business owners to spend time doing business not filling up forms.
A flat tax would immediately stimulate the economy. Those currently paying 60% taxes taking NI into account would be encouraged to work harder as they would be keeping more of their own money. People would also feel richer, so spending more money and lifting the economy.
Those who create wealth and jobs would come back to the UK. Tax avoidance would cease almost totally as those currently avoiding/evading would just pay it all.
- Set up community banks:
Also I would suggest setting up a "Bank of Dave" in localities. "Bank of Dave" as shown on Ch4 showed Dave Fishwick trying to set up a community bank in Burnley.
The idea is to loan to local businesses who need the money which the main banks refuse to give. Give depositors 5% interest and give any profits to local charities. The local bank manager will know everyone he lends to personally by meeting them and supporting the businesses with advice.
This works well across a lot of Germany. It means local businesses can get their hands on cash at low interest levels, stimulating local economies.
- Cut red tape for small businesses.
As someone who used to run a successful cafe, one reason I quit was the ridiculous red tape/rules I had to work under.
Instead of putting effort into running businesses, enterpreneurs have to sit at their desks for hours on unnecessary paperwork.
- Credit cards to be renamed "Debt Cards".
Overborrowing on "credit" cards to be discouraged. Savings to be encouraged.
Spending on credit cards under £10 should be banned - using cash instead would make people think whether they can really afford the purchase.
Anyway that's what I think though I don't even know why I bothered writing it.
If your car needs an MOT it is going to get tougher. New Euro rules mean they are going to check a load of new things.
Oh well, at least my lovely 15-year-old BMW has got its MOT till next year. I only use it to get to seminars and back six times a year so it has only done small mileage, is still lovely to drive and always starts first time..
I'm just not into cars really. Would rather spend the money I didn't spend on them on business class plane seats..
Onto TV watching, we tried Shetland. This has got to be the most boring start to any thriller ever. After half an hour of boring shots (sorry!) of fields and someone died and who cares who or why we gave up.
We just started Borgen and we are hooked already. Into episode 4 of series one. At last something decent to watch now the brilliant Girls has ended.
At least Mad Men starts soon. Looks like we'll have to get back to some good old fashioned board games...
Tried to watch a bit of comic relief. First attempt seemed to be EastEnders going gang violence which at 8 with a child watching with us I thought unacceptable.
Attempt two and on was the ghastly Davina McCall and attempt three smug irritant Chris Evans was on. Tell you what, I will double my contribution if I definitely never have to watch any of it.
If you missed "Challenger" this week on BBC2 find it on I Player.
A great drama about the true story of how the real story of why the shuttle exploded was uncovered.

Do remember if you do bet you ought to treat sports spreadbetting as entertainment - and expect to lose! Also with spreadbetting work out what your max loss could be and make sure you can afford it! In other words if you say backed the favourite at 15 for a fiver and they come nowhere your max loss is £75.

Agree about facebook - the youngsters who leapt onboard when it started,
posting dire photos of them doing things they shouldn't are now grown up and
getting on in their careers and errrrrr wondering if that photo of them
mooning in the disco in Majorca was a good idea!
Nice to think I am not the only unsociable grump to not want to follow the
minutiae of my friends and colleagues mostly boring lives!
I am in the states just now and feel the Starbucks asking name thing is just
more marketing bollocks to get them noticed. If they just speeded up the
service I might go there but americans seem to need all this 'service
bollocks' to make them think they are getting their moneys worth.
Thanks Anne,
well of course I agree, it's nearly all bollocks!
Duane writes:
Wanted to say a big thank you to you and Mrs NT for an amazing day of learning and fun at your seminar.
The way you explained the share trading from start to finish was understandable and really interesting, well worth the seminar fee!
It was great to hear such down to earth and honest assessment from a successful trader like yourself. The way you explained everything was good revision from your book and gave further insight into successful share trading.
I particularly liked your live trades and going through your accounts when you gave snippets of why you invested in certain shares and why you kept/dumped them. Also helpful was the way you searched for prospective shares and within minutes discounted them or put them on a short list for further examination and correct entry points. Amazing!
You could really tell that you loved doing what you do and your energy levels to keep going till 10pm was well....... I had to leave at 9pm I was shattered!
Thanks again Robbie I am keen to put into practice what you have taught me. Even though you make squillions from your trades and I am sure don't need to do the seminars for financial gain, but please keep doing those seminars for newbies like me!
Thanks Duane! Don't expect to be doing them foreever but very rewarding for me to help people so expect to carry on for a while longer.
Gabriel writes:
If you are reading this, you are perhaps considering going on one of Robbie's Seminars. You maybe asking yourself (like I did) the testimonials are all well and good but once the euphoria and excitement of attending a Seminar has died down ..... and I am back home in my normal routine and faced with the "graft" of putting it all into practice... will I become a better trader and be financially better off?
Let me tell you that in my case it certainly has!
Book your place pretty sharpish....... is what I say !
Thanks Gabriel!

Fantastic seminar.
I have always been sceptical of the public testaments you see on web sites
saying how great an event was. Now I'm one of those people!. I
genuinely believe that the tips and techniques as well as the overall
approach you demonstrated will radically improve my trading performance
Thanks Terry, well all the testaments are real but know what you mean and glad you feel it was worth it!
Stephen writes:
I read your book and did the course - and I wasn't sure if I'd recoup the cost, it's been 2 years and I've made £38k + saved a loss transferring a Jupiter ISA heavily invested in BP. I can't tell you how important this is or how grateful I am. That's just me, who knows how much people have made with your help and saved by not making mistakes. I wanted to get into shares as they recovered after the crunch, but I assumed I had to put a large amount in one company I thought would make a big jump.
But what happens when you make £1m on the website, will you still do courses? I don't know how you do your ISA and SIPP investments, write the website, books, courses and answer e-mails. But please don't give it up. Couldn't you do the courses and have a standing website which gets updated with your trades say once a month so people can see what you do..
Stephen thanks so much for such a nice mail and much appreciated! Dunno about the future, I feel like I'm getting jaded. It's possible I might just reduce it all at some point to twice a month after going weekly - that would probably help. The other problem is other people's angst is getting to me and the email workload becoming overwhelming. I think after ten years it might be time for me to quit. Anyway good luck with your trades and hope you make a lot more.
I have 3 great offers from ADVFN.
ADVFN level 2 offer
First great deal: If you want level 2, through me it is only £350 for your first year including VAT!
This compares to £473 direct from advfn inc vat so this deal saves you over a whopping £120! ADVFN level 2 also includes all the live trades made through Plus Markets which I find invaluable.
To accept this great deal just e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Level 2 offer" in the subject line and I will tell you how to get it. Level 2 gives you access to all the market maker positions and the order book and I would not trade without it!
More on level 2 in my book and I spend hours on it at my seminars. So if you get level 2 and want to learn how to use it properly live, book my seminar!
ADVFN Bronze Offer
To take up the offer, e-mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with Bronze in the subject line and I will tell you how to claim the deal.
Bronze is included inside the level 2 deal.
Advfn Silver Exclusive Offer
The deal is via me you can save nearly £30 for your first year by paying just £145 inc vat via me instead of £173.71
Just mail me at robbiethetrader@aol.com if you'd like this deal with "silver" in the subject line.
Irish Offer
I hear a lot from Irish readers who struggle to get an account open with a UK spreadbet firm, so I would recommend this Irish spreadbet company which you should be able to join with no bother on this link:

Selftrade Offer
All online deals are just £12.50 with no funny small print. Charges for phone deals are higher, check terms and conditions. They charge £8.75 plus vat per quarter if you don't make a trade. If you make one trade per quarter there is no charge. Follow this link...

Cyprus !!
I'm not going to comment as plenty of others have and you can decide for yourself whether nicking people's savings is a good idea... (I suspect behind the scenes it was announced to scare people into accepting some other deal which if they hadn't scared them with this they wouldn't have accepted).
No I have no idea what that long-winded sentence meant either but frankly I can't be bothered to re-write it!
However you may have noticed yet again the markets get bought up on any bad fall.
Even 6 months ago the market would have fallen and stayed lower and gone lower still. For now at least panic and fear seem to have disappeared.
Doesn't matter what the crisis is, the money is flowing in to buy it up again.
Of course we don't know when fear will return and sentiment can change fast. However in general the trend stays up. Looks like something really bad is going to happen to cause a real big fall.
Great news from the budget that AIM shares will be stamp duty free from next April! But surely this should have gone further to ALL shares..
It seems crazy to have to pay a tax to buy a share.
Indeed I have an excellent idea: No stamp duty on any share as long as it is held for more than six months to encourage people to hold shares for months rather than hours. You pay it initially but get a refund when selling it if after 6 months.
But best news of all for me this year is it looks like at last we will be able to place AIM stocks into ISAs.
Although why do we have to wait? Why can't they just say, okay you can go ahead now? Idiotic!
I know over the years I have missed loads of good ones because I couldn't put them in an ISA though of course I could do spreadbets.
However with some of the smaller ones sometimes you couldn't get a spreadbet on.
For example just recently as those who came to the last two seminars know I was keen on 32 Red (TTR) - results are good but mainly I would hope there is a good chance of it getting bought out by one of the main bookmakers.
I bought them up mainly for my pension as AIM stocks are allowed in there and got a nice lot at 41 and at 45, and a few more last week.
However as they aren't very liquid IG wouldn't let me have many although lucky for me spreadex did and I built a nice stake with them.
But.. if I could have put them in an ISA I would already be in a very nice tax free profit. So just one example this new freedom to put AIM into ISAs will give me. It reports tomorrow and it could be a down day on a sell on the news thing but I'd be tempted to buy more on any weakness.
Another example is one I have made tons on inside the ISA if AIM was allowed is the lovely LOQ, and again it has mainly been spreadbets and pension buys.
I bought some more earlier this month (900 at 547). Already in profit by more than £20,000 on these for the website and a lot more than that personally.
Yet another great contract win announced today - it could easily get to a tenner this year.
I've asked for ten grands worth of new issue E-Sure.
I wasn't totally e-sure about it but insurer Direct Line has seen decent profits for me from the recent float so decided to give it a go. The dividend is going to be good so I guess I will just tuck it away in the ISA and forget about it for long-term growth and dividends.
It made 110% more profit in 2012 than the previous year, so not bad.
I don't know yet if I will get the lot or be scaled back - if you applied for some the shares should arrive in your account tomorrow or Friday. I'll let you know how many I got next update.
Got a lovely short in Trinity Mirror at 118 - banked that today at 90 for a nice profit of £1,120, won't add that to the site as it was done between updates - I did get a bit lucky though as the hacking arrests helped rather a lot.
I bought some William Hill (WMH) on Monday after they went ex rights, getting then on a spreadbet at 378p. William Hill are in a good spot at the moment. They are snapping up other companies and figures look good. Worth a gamble for me.
I still haven't been selling, just some small tidying up.. The last bit of Optos went at 196 for a profit of £424 Sold the small bit of Avon bought recently at 413, profit £111, held onto the main bulk though.
Fenner just can't get above 420, it tried a few too many times for me so I exite d at 419 for a profit of £420. Sdl keeps falling so gone at 451.34 for profit of £161
Generally I am kind of thinking this about me and the markets at the moment.
That is, I've made more money this year already than I expected in the whole year. Yeah, I know lucky me, smug git, aren't I clever etc. When one is boasting It probably means it is close to time to quit and take profits.
If you are going round telling friends what a market whizz you are it is odds on it is about to bite you in the bum hard.
However.. there is a chance markets could go higher still with the trend. Which is why I am waiting.
I perhaps should be thinking of taking more profits soon. Indeed, I am seriously thinking of having the whole summer off from trading and come back in September.
A summer of holidays and no worries about markets. It is feeling more and more appealing as I write this. Sipping cocktails in the garden, sunglasses on (are you crazy we are talking UK here!) who cares what the market is doing.
Which I guess if you enjoy the website not so good from your point of view as probably the website would take a similar break.
We'll see. I think if the market looks like it is going to fall I would be crazy not to execute that plan. I'll keep you posted..but to warn you in advance it's pretty certain the site will take a long break this summer.
But I expect to return in September - however overall I've been doing this website for 13 years and 3 years before that on Sky. So I suspect sometime next year I will be bowing out.
Portfolio Highlights
NMC Health duly made it into the FTSE 250 causing a further lovely rise. Sitting on some very nice profits, up 150 points on the first buy and 60 on the second. It is tempting to bag the profits but they still look strong for now as funds buy in.
The recent spreadbets continue to kick on. Filtrona's placing yesterday was received very well indeed and is becoming a very nice spreadbet as does the CSR one, and Senior - they are all heading towards their target areas. Again, not too far off taking the money.
Dialight has really kicked higher and directors have been piling in with share buys so happy with the recent top up. It tried to get above 1400 but failed for now but I don't think it will be too long. Still happy if it can hold around 1300 for now as there is no update for a while.
I remember so well buying these at 150 ish at a seminar in 2009 ! I never thought I'd still have them three years later at 12 quid - website profits are up and over £70,000 and personally profits over £100,000.
I think Dialight's 20 year light is going to be a massive winner and it could end up being a mega company unless it gets bought.
The recent Brammer trade has been a big success so far. Looking for it to hit around 400.
Pendragon has motored up, looking for 25p on that one. The brilliant Low and Bonar has conquered 70p, dare I hold out for 80?
Filtronic continues to rocket and today goes over 75p and targets highs of a year or two ago. Profit are huge now, over £15,000 but it might be one of those shares that carries on going up so sticking in there. Of course it is a risky one, as any negatives would see it hurtle back down.
Recent trade Huntsworth surprised me by breaking through 50 and has run up to the target. Just sticking in there.
RWS continues to do well, up nearly 200 points on this one, nice. The spread is a bit of an irritant though.
The lovely Porvair has closed above 200 what a star trade... and is doing nicely today.
Costain has really been a big star too and now pushes 300, up more than 100 points now on the first buy.
Coastal remains in a short-term downturn but even so than trebled on this brilliant oil play. I suspect a bid will come in here this year at hopefully around the 1800-2000 mark. For the moment there is no news so it drifts.
Telecom Plus tries hard to get above the tricky tenner. All looks on track and I would expect a nice steady rise this year. It seems to have cracked the 900 area for now - cracking a tenner is going to take a few attempts, Website profits of well over £100,000 and personal profits of more £300,000. I just continue a long-term holder.
It held a big meeting with distributors at the weekend and announced an amazing mobile package making it cheaper than anywhere else, making it a much easier sell for distributors. A ten per cent discount off a whole year's bill for phone/broadband/energy for new gold customers is very enticing too .
If you would like to become a customer through me, save money on your bills AND so get my weekly email, email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Email sub" in the subject line and will tell you how.
Vislink (VLK) is sitting at 31p and looking for it to go to 37p ish. Management already forecasts some nice profit rises over the next 3 years and it looks cheap and at some point should get a rerating. Very low risk too and it is in a hot sector.
Nichols where I now sit on a fabulous profit is up again after telling the market it is ahead of expectations - it has tons of cash so I'd expect them to announce some kind of big dividend with results in March.
Trifast is having a remarkable run, it is tempting to look at taking some profit soon, I just wonder though whether it can get into the 60s first.
Alternative Networks has been rising very fast and cracked 300. Excellent profits there and worth being patient with them. I wonder if a bid is coming (they already turned one bidder down) .
. Sepura's report wasn't enough to get it through the 100p area ..100 surely must be cracked sooner or later. Not quite yet. Mid 90s for now.
Fiberweb has gone up a bit.
I've been getting e-mails regarding my use of direct market access and who I use. I've tried a few and for me the easiest system for me is here:
http://www.igmarkets.com/nakedtrader
Direct market access means you can place orders directly onto the order book bypassing brokers and market-makers with a chance to buy at the "sell" price. I would suggest you ensure you know what you're doing first but IG does provide much education with its "tradesense" educational tool which comes with it.
I also use its spreadbetting service too along with other firms like Tradefair because it now provides trailing stops which to me is a pretty sensible way of trading. Also with this link there is an excellent education programme and it offers the biggest range of smaller shares.

As usual before opening accounts please read all the warnings on the sites. You can lose a lot of money if you're not careful so pay close attention to them and make sure you always understand what you are doing and what your potential losses are.

Telecom Plus Offer
You get to sell great broadband, phone packages and energy to friends, relatives, contacts and anyone else you find and you get cash for each sale but more importantly you get a cut of their spend EVERY MONTH for as long as they are a customer!
It's called residual income and is a far better way to enjoy a ripe old age than relying on a pension. Because even after you stop selling the money STILL comes in!
I still get paid EVERY MONTH for sales I made back in 1999! Every time a customer uses broadband or the phone or switches on a light you get paid.
It's a great business and backed by a stock market company (Telecom Plus), a dedicated team of advisors.. and me to help you on your way!
Not only do you get paid out every month for each customer you can take on distributors. encourage them like I do and get paid on their sales as well.
One day, say you could made redundant, needed a year off or wanted to retire early can you imagine what joy it is to have the regular income coming in. It's wonderful.
You have to work at it, but if you do genuine repeat wealth could be yours. I did it. You can too. For full details, why not email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com.
An overview is also available at http://www.utilitywarehouse.org.uk/fabdeal you can sign up directly there but do tell me! (Click become a distributor and follow links)

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets on Wednesday afternoons.
