I look forwards to meeting some of you online at the seminar on July 13th, you should get a questionnaire soon, please fill up as it helps me to know what we'll cover on the day.

If you'd like to spend the day with me and live markets on Monday July 13th, ask for details at robbiethetrader@aol.com.

As we're not going abroad till late July we're making the most of visiting places in the UK.

An interesting trip to Whitstable, on the north coast of Kent near Canterbury.

Mainly it was to see a couple of good friends but we had a good walk around the place.

About 1.5 hours from London, it's definitely worth a visit.

It's a very nice escape from the city with beach huts, great shops and plenty of places to visit.

Bizarrely plonked close to the beach is a massive cement factory which provides tons of the stuff for South England.

It isn't somewhere to go for a day on the beach as it's stony - I'd suggest a day visit though there are some fun looking olde worlde hotels that get good reviews.

Chichester next!

A visit to the press night and after party for a new show at one of the many West End theatres owned by my hard working sister Nica.

We saw The Truth at the Apollo Theatre starring Stephen Mangan.

It's a very funny comedy about infidelity and lies with lots of twists.

For those of you who find long theatre nights difficult it's only 80 minutes with no interval.

You can get tickets starting at just £20.

To book and any other shows at my sister's places head for https://nimaxtheatres.com/

I'd also recommend The Producers and The Play That Went Wrong.

And a heads up: Gillian Anderson stars in the brilliant "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolfe" at Nica's theatre SohoPlace (the new one she built recently next to Tottenham Court Rd).

Apparently it's a dazzling production and runs from September 21st through to Xmas.

My sister says tickets have gone fast and they are already running low.

Do go and visit the theatre, it's a fantastic 600 seater in the round and it means you're very close to the action.

Tickets there are also not too expensive.

The Naked Trader Radio Show Live is back!

I'll be broadcasting live from the kitchen with lots of share chat, summery music, your contributions, a look at live markets and share reporting on the day.

Plus: Your share ideas. Mail me from now with a share you like and why.

You can tune in from 9am on Tuesday July 7th from 9am with a bit of a preview before that.

Just go here:

https://fast.citrus3.com:2020/public/nakedtrader

(The last show is on there 24/7 if you missed it.)

This will be the quibble edition of the show.

Recently a Quibble campaign group has been established.

It says a quibble is a low grade nuisance that impacts lots of people but never gets fixed.

Its examples include cookie banners on websites, and parking cos that fine you for tapping in "O" instead of 0,

I'm looking for quibbles, including stock market ones and my favourite one gets £50.

So what are your quibbles?

Maybe in particular you have a stock market quibble!

Mine is great shares that collapse after a brilliant report. So annoying.

Actually I have tons.

The scrabble AI bot I play which deliberately gives me crap letters if I'm winning and cheats.

People who over-complicate the stock market with technical jargon.

People over 40 wearing football shirts.

Those bloody stupid train announcements. They need banning immediately.

Being told my call is being recorded for training purposes.

Shops that don't take cash.

Politicians who say "I will make this perfectly clear" just before doing the opposite.

What are yours? I'll read yours out live on the show.

Go on: it's your chance to have a good old rant!

You can send me your quibbles from now for the radio show, send as many as you like to me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Quibble" in the subject line.

I use mainly Interactive Investor and Barclays and IG.

Interactive Investor is my favourite, I also have my SIPP with them.

Easy to use, and stop losses work well, plus cheap charges.

II has sent me a referral link if you want to try it for an ISA or SIPP.

If you add in more than 10k, you get a free year's subscription with them worth quite a few quid and I get £200 into my account.

Seems like a no brainer here is the link:

https://tinyurl.com/mr3asr2x

If they ask my acc is burnsrobbieburns@aol.com.

I did a podcast with Zeus Capital and Nick Searle who is the most lovely chap.

He even posted a lovely handwritten thank you letter afterwards. Sheer class.

You can hear be blabbing on about how I came to be a trader and suchlike.

https://zeuscapital.co.uk/adp-podcast/ scroll down to find the one with me.

Took the credit card tracker with me to Sri Lanka. Used it twice to locate where the cards were!

Do get some credit card style tags they are wonderful and just over £20!

Link to the ones I bought:

https://amzn.to/40cyCTu

Put one in your passport wallet and one in your credit card wallet or purse.

Thank me when inevitably something gets lost.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.

Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.

My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.

You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.

You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.

No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.

You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.

If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.com and will send you some info.

Thanks for the feedback from recent events.

Gary:

" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

Phew, just as well we have Harry Kane isn't it?

Without him little doubt we'd be out.

How wonderful to see a captain leading by example.

And no I'm definitely not watching the next game in the middle of the night.

Highlights at 7am with tea and toast after I've given my son a lift to the station at 6.30am.

Can you believe he's 21 and can't wait to leave the house at 6.30am to get to work?

If he'd gone to university he could be getting up at noon and then smoking weed for the rest of the day...

Current policies continue to make life difficult for small businesses.

A small bakery reports its profits on a croissant which costs £3.30 is only 52p while the government takes 69p!

When I owned a cafe, I certainly made a lot more than that.

Well kind of. After 6 months I discovered "chef" was scoffing four of them before starting her shift!

Latest from the spam folder, I have been busy replying to them but I appear to get no response which is disappointing.

"Poop instantly"

This doesn't sound like something I need, especially say if I was in M and S.

However one of our cats seems to manage this quite effectively without any bother.

I've been offered a way to add 3 inches to my willie.

I have emailed back to say it's a 3 inch reduction I am after as it is sadly way too big.

It is a tough burden, and means I can't really wear speedos on holiday.

A message from "Penguin Publishers" telling me how great my books are and how much they'd like to work with me.

However the scammer made a big mistake spelling Penguin "Penugin" in his email address.

I replied suggesting he'd make a much better scammer if he at the very least spelt the name of the company he was pretending to be from correctly.

If you are a published author expect to get a few of these, they are targeting authors' egos with all kind of scams.

Usually involves asking for an "admin fee".

Still it was nice to read how absolutely great my book was!

Sadly there seem to be less women wanting to have sex with me.

Which is surprising given obviously I'm a highly attractive man, I mean, they are right about that.

"Nympho" seems to have withdrawn her offers of a 69 with no small talk which honestly I'm glad about as frankly I wasn't looking forward to it much.

And anyway, she'd have more work on than she'd bargained for.

Though Layla says she saw my photos and thought I looked "interesting".

Interesting! How dare she.

I've also been offered a chance to find a therapist that's right for me.

Anyone specialise in therapy for share traders who get a profit warning at the start of the day?
My older lady I talk to every week for Help The Aged doesn't like summer TV.

She doesn't like football or tennis and given that is all that's on isn't great.

Plus apparently Coronation Street has gone to the dogs.

Unfortunately I have got into a bit of a deceitful tangle with her over The Street which I will tell you about next time. There's a cliffhanger!

Indeed there is little on the box now and what there is tends to be the dregs.

Life, Larry And The Pursuit Of Unhappiness ** Hbo

After the sublime Seinfeld and Curb Larry takes a big misstep here, scripted sketches don't suit his type of comedy.

Let's hope he scraps this concoction of over long overwrought sketches with no punchlines and does a new season of Curb instead.

Despite all the writing and acting talent, it just doesn't work and as a Larry fan afraid this one is a massive "meh".

WIDOW'S BAY **** Apple
This continues to be a great fun show. Scary/comic events in an out of the way town.

Stars the great actor Matthew Rhys who gives it his all.

Should please horror fans, comedy not so much but entertaining all round and whatever he's in Rhys is always so watchable.

"Five ways to stay hydrated" says the headline.

I can give you just one way: Drink some effing water!

Massive congratulations to The Steam Dreams company for the first mention of Xmas in desperate email promotions.

Way to go in June, nice one!

I'll pass on the Santa Steam Express, but thanks and a happy new year.

Discuss: Like all politicians Andy Burnham is only interested in Andy Burnham.

Markets

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Markets

One of Rachel Reeves' final acts as the worst chancellor ever was to start mucking about with isas.

She couldn't help it: she can't stand anything that's simple so of course let's add more complexity to one of the few things that's simple and effective.

My worry with this is, with further left policies coming in, this is just the start of tinkering with the best savings vehicle ever.

I don't know how it's come to this when the powers that be want to tax savers.

We're the ones that have saved so we won't ever be a burden on the state.

Get this, from next April you'll be taxed on any interest from cash holdings.

So, a penalty for holding cash which again shows she has no idea about investments or business.

Interest rates paid on cash held in stocks and shares ISAs is ludicrously uncompetitive, so the tax take will be small anyway. But what it will certainly do is have perverse consequences.

There have been market circumstances in the last 20 years where holding large amounts of cash has been the correct response to falling markets - and there will be again.

This just punishes people who take the correct investment decision and will lead to overall ISA holdings falling.

For example during 3 months of Covid I held over £1m in cash in the isas.

There are times during black swan events especially when it might be prudent to hold cash.

Rachel and the rest have probably never invested or saved so have no idea how many of us run our isas.

But the worst thing of all it seems to be it's just the first salvo.

Leave our isas alone!

We're into summer trading which is usually quite difficult and I tend to be wary and only buy or short if I really see an opportunity.

Things get more illiquid and volatile so I tend to do a bit less till September.

Also if you're going away you don't want to worry about stuff while you're on the sunbed do you?

So it can be a good time to ditch any major losers or anything that worries you and maybe carry a bit of cash.

I do have a lot of cash right now after all that profit taking last time.

But I did buy some Globaldata (DATA) which really catches the eye.

Had some success with trading ranges on this one and once again it is towards the bottom of it which generally is a good time to buy.

With PE under 10 and a good PEG it looks unloved and undervalued.

Profits up well so are margins but the market considers these kinds of data companies on the higher risk side so they tend to get low ratings.

But this rating is too low and my aim is for the shares to get back over 100p.

Emerging markets are doing really well and I'd like a bit of exposure to them, and the best way is a trust.

So I bought some Templeton Emerging Markets.

This major Trust has holdings in lots of emerging markets especially in China and Asia.

These markets appear to be motoring right now and this trust seems a cheap way of getting access to companies in emerging markets without actually having to pick any.

Shares in this rise and fall depending on the net asset values of the shares in the portfolio.

These values are published daily so it is easy to follow.

I'm back in one I was in before.

Foresight Group is a leading investment manager and it is doing really well with shares currently advancing daily.

Profits are going up nicely as are margins and dividends.

The management team here looks excellent and these shares could easily carry on up without any real worries for now.

I have bought some more Future of Defence (NATP).

Sadly the future of defence is more spending and this makes a core longer-term holding.

You're basically getting exposure to companies who benefit from NATO spending on military and cybersecurity without having to pick just one company.

There is a lot less risk given the spread of companies.

And a top up in CMC after fabulous results, much better than I was expecting.

Supa dupa results with probably more to come and more than £11,000 in profits now for the website positions.

CMC was also one of my ten for 26 which featured on my sub email - that's up overall by 30% so very pleased about that.

I'll be discussing the shares in the 10 for 26 in the sub mail for subscribers. Plus a US share and a couple of interesting high riskers.

If you'd like to get the mail, email me at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Sub interested".

It is sent every other week on web update days, you get the website stuff a bit early plus my higher risk SIPP ideas and US trades.

Filtronic continues to be a nice trading share if you can cope with the volatility.

It isn't really worth much more than 200p but the US traders like it and so it's fun to play the moves which can be quite big. I sold the last lot for a profit then bought back but I still keep a core holding from 45p.

I'm sure many investors like me who have one or two income shares were disappointed with the slashing of the Tep dividend.

We were in this for the dividends. Not that I can complain exactly having had nearly £600,000 over the years of it.

The company thinks share buy backs are the way to go and I suppose there is the possibility of special dividends. I suspect they want to use the money to cut prices as its markets have got very competitive.

A great couple of weeks for the portfolio with great rises for CMC, IG,Keller, Easyjet, Marks and Cordiant.

Lots of shares discussed in the Naked Trader Radio Show live on Tuesday (7th) plus your share ideas and quibbles! See above somewhere for more details, do take part!

I thought I'd let you know about a new book I read this week written by a top fund manager who has been investing for 60 years.
He has managed billions and still does. The book is
Called "Perils of long term investing in a short term world".

Jeremy Grantham is a market legend who has predicted a lot of the market crashes (though he doesn't time them exactly)

His current view is that the US is way overpriced and newbies shouldn't buy into the US.

Only thing though is he says in a podcast a crash could come in "days, weeks or months(!)"

A terrific read especially if you remember some of the highlights and lowlights of stock markets past.

There are lots of discussions about small cap value investing and market inefficientcies
Lots of lessons he's learned.

He still at 87 actively manages a portfolio of nearly $40 BILLION dollars!

Interesting he writes that bubbles only burst after real signs of excess.

So I wonder if the launch of Space X and two other biggies later this year could be the sign?
Maybe not now, but also maybe not too far off.

Anyway enough of me blathering on. If you enjoy the markets, want to learn some of its history along the way too, it is fascinating.

Nice comment from Craig who attended the last online seminar:

"Thank you for a great day on Friday. As a beginner, and half way through reading your Naked Trader book, I was a little apprehensive I would be overwhelmed with the day.

But quite the opposite, great pace and pitched at the right level for everyone online. Seeing Robbie select shares to investigate and even place some buys and top up existing shares has given me the confidence to do it myself.

I would highly recommend to any beginner and I will hopefully join again sometime in the future to top up my knowledge."

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.

Boy, what a gripper!

Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.

The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!

Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.

And they are all certain of their own brilliance...

Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..

Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

I've enjoyed reading "The Psychology of Money".

It's a best seller deservedly with 19 stories exploring how people think about money.

if you want to better with how you invest, trade or spend money it's a very worthwhile read!

Spreadbetting

I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

Here's the link if you want to sign up, on this link the lovely Lorenzo will help out if you run into trouble or make a fat finger trade.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time.
