Don't get too excited but a brand new edition of Naked Trader (6) is almost ready to go out and you can pre-order it now!

Here's the link:

https://amzn.to/4ef8JIl

I hope you will enjoy it even if you've read the other edition as there's lots of new stuff in it.

Things I have learned about mindset, a look at AI, the pandemic, wars, lots of new ideas on trading shares that I've discovered in the 5 years since the last edition.

New ideas on how to make money on bad news events, trading ranges, well, I won't go on!

Obviously stuff for beginners is similar but even for those of you experienced I think you'll get lots out of it.

I also learned a lot from working closely with people on retreats and I'll pass on interesting things I learned about different ways of trading.

I will though forget about the fact the cartoon of me on the front page of the new edition makes me look like I am having a prostate exam!

If you order it thanks for the 50p I'll eventually get from Amazon!

Anyway welcome back - hope you all enjoyed summer hols!

Forget the gloom from our new leader, strict new pompous geography teacher Lord Keir - go on, embrace the autumn and go for it in whatever field you are in!

Had a lovely summer in the UK with lots of sitting around in cafes watching the world go by with friends.

Lots of board games too, especially chess and scrabble!

And some great hotels, shout out to the Langley.

Super hotel with loads of interesting walks.

It's got a decent spa too and a nice heated outdoor pool plus some stuff for kids to do as well.

I have a rather busy few weeks ahead!

A shares retreat in Palma week after next, an online seminar on the 27th and a book launch party too.

The retreat sold out some time ago but if you want to go on an interested list for next year, email me.

Can't wait to see some of you returning for another retreat as well as those who haven't been before.

Hope you all enjoy a fun few days in the sun with lots of share and investing talk, trade ideas and mindset training plus some "streetwise" ideas!

Ensure you brush up on your gen knowledge for the big quiz.

See you all in a few days, I am sure the returners will make the newbies feel welcome.

Oh, it does mean the next update will be a week late but at least I hope it is worth waiting for the amazing share ideas that come out of the retreat which I'll discuss in the next update.

If you'd like to spend a day with me online do mail me for details of that on the 27th.

Those of you interested in a hotel seminar I've provisionally booked Dec 9th for the usual hotel Xmas NT event.

I have started to get people asking.

You can just express interest for now, I just need to know there will be enough people as the hotel has a minimum number.

That one though isn't for beginners, you must have attended a previous event either seminar or retreat or else persuade me you are definitely not a beginner

If interested drop me a mail at robbiethetrader@aol.com with "Dec hotel interested".

I like a challenge so when my son offered me £200 to do something disgusting I had to accept.

Of course being a trade I negotiated him up to £300.

The challenge? Eat some dried cat food.

I know .. I know"¦ but come on, £300? You'd do it too?

Actually it wasn't too bad. Tasted a bit like twiglets strong marmite flavour.

And I wasn't even sick.

Oh hang on I realised I haven't had the money yet.

Right, where is he? I need to march him round to the cashpoint at Tescos.

Once, in my foolish 20s I did host a garden party and for a laugh I put out some cat biscuits with a hummus dip.

No-one even noticed indeed one or two thought the biscuits rather nice and asked me where I got them from.

Although the next day the neighbours did mention their kid had thrown up after the party and he had eaten a lot of them.

"That's strange," I said. "Well, he must have just eaten too much."

(If you went to that party it's not good to hold resentments over so many years. Meditate, let out old resentments and be more at peace with yourself).

I'm going to be doing a music podcast shortly and looking for contributions.

The idea behind is music you discovered in a TV show.

You heard some music in the show being played, you looked it up and really liked it.

You'd not have discovered it otherwise!

Send me the song/s you found during a show, tell me what scene it was in the show and maybe why it piqued your interest!

For example reader Mark mailed in with the song "morning of My Life"
by John Holt featured in "Death in Paradise" over a happy ending
for Florence and Neville.

Mail me with "TV show song" at robbiethetrader@aol.com

And for those of you asking, pretty much sorted the technicals on a live NT breakfast radio show maybe once a week and hope to start in November as I'm pretty busy till then.

Lots of people trying side hustles at the moment.

Actually it was side hustles that helped me quit work for good in 2001.

My best was and still is Telecom Plus which trades as Utilities Discount Warehouse.

You can sell energy, sim cards, mobiles, broadband and insurance wfh.

You get commission per customer plus an ongoing commission every time they use
a service for as long as they remain a customer.

No stock needed, all done online. If you're good with people and don't mind a lot of
"no thanks" could work for you.

My young son is doing it and is roaring away with 20 customers already.

You're backed by a billion plus FTSE 250 company and it's rated well by Which Magazine for good deals and excellent customer service.

If you think this could be a good side hustle for you, mail me with "side hustle" at robbiethetrader@aol.cpm and will send you some info.

Thanks for the feedback from recent events.

Gary:

" The arrangements and agenda were first class, delivered with Elizabeth's charm and efficiency and Robbie's natural charisma. The drill down on all the stock trading ideas
really cemented the knowledge received from the beginners seminar and all
merited the further investigation Robbie and the group undertook.

Having a look at Level 2, DMA and Spreadbetting was very much appreciated.

The day flew by and finished far too soon. I'm convinced I am now a better stock picker and trader as a result of both days with Robbie."

Anne:
My husband and I had a lovely time. We learned so much, the hotel was great and the lunch fantastic. We didn't leave the bar till midnight!

Dave:

"I've been a teacher for the last 30 years and I'm not sure I could have kept a group of pupils so captivated for so long. Humour and in-depth subject knowledge go a long way!

I loved seeing your thought process in deciding which shares to trade and level 2 was also an eye opener."

Phil:

"The seminar was delivered with huge integrity (there was Zero hidden agenda/ulterior motives, it was simple and open with some great laughs thrown in)

As much as I found myself trying to complicate the process and make it more sophisticated in my own tiny brain.

You also took the time to answer "every" question anyone posed. And it was every question. Loads of shares ideas to boot, but more importantly the process to find your own. Brilliant!

Naked Rambling

Like all of us I was hoping a new Government might bring some fresh ideas and give a sense of optimism.

The last one was lacklustre and out of ideas and that's being kind.

Just maybe a new broom could sweep in some energy and growth prospects! I was kind of hopeful. But then"¦

The Lord Sir Keir makes his speech.

Doom, gloom and misery. We're in the s***, there's no money and anyone that has any we are coming for you.

Oh and having any fun whatsoever will be banned. How dare you have a crafty fag outside the pub when we have big black hole which of course we never knew about.

Better hide cash under your bed by Oct 30th!

And don't be old as we're coming for you though if you're a train driver or a doctor, high five!

Ps, and it will always be the fault of the last lot forever.

Come on!! We needed "Let's go for it, UK is great, the economy is looking up, let's work hard and go for it!

Nope. Miserable git.

Anyway at least Sir Lord is doing away with cronyism!

Hurrah! No more favours or backhanders.

Then he takes £20k from a donor for a "makeover".

You don't expect him to spend his own money on some new suits and some snazzy glasses do you?

I'd respect him if he said he'd give back the money and buy his own suits and glasses out of the near 200k he's on.

Banning smoking in pub gardens and outside sports stadiums is a nuts idea.

I don't like smoking or smoke but a ban you can't enforce is crazy. Also I don't like the illiberal attitude. No fun allowed. Or risks.

Pubs are dying as it is, don't do this!

Good luck with enforcing it outside football grounds with pissed up fans. "You don't know what you're doing!"

My other problem with the new lot is the nannying.

Life is a risk. You wouldn't be reading this website if you weren't up for a bit of risk.

We all have to die but surely we need some fun.

All incoming rules seem to say: "No risk allowed, you might get hurt!"

But we humans need risk to thrive - we need fun, and indeed, come on, it can be fun to break the rules sometimes.

The new govt seems to want to suck the fun out of everything.

For now then I'm unimpressed. Let's see if "things can get better".

If it's one thing I hate it's pumping up a bike tyre.

Just can never get it hard enough however much I pump.

(Stop giggling at that juvenile thought that just crossed your mind, I mean come on, how old are you.)

I have found an electronic gadget that you just plug in, press the button and does it for you, hard as you like!

It does car tyres as well, and motorbikes and footballs.

I just love it.

Colin From Accounts **** BBC 2
Return of the super Aussie sitcom.

It's a lovely fun watch as we see our on/off couple trying to work out if they can be together without a dog.

Lots of great lines - loved the owner of the multi colour pen's line "Only the green one's working!"

Succession ***** Sky
Tv was so dire over the summer just watched Succession all over again.

If you've not seen it give it a go. It's all on Sky Atlantic/catch up.

Just superbly written satire with amazing action, a sheer masterclass and very much like Shakespeare.

Watching it a second time is fab as you can pick up on stuff not noticed on the first watch and this time round admire it even more.

Kaos **** Netflix
Wasn't sure about the premise of this with Jeff Goldblum playing a modern day God.

Not seen much of it yet but was pleasantly surprised and it looks like it might be a nice surprise.

Mission to Burnley **** Sky Documentary
Fascinating look at Burnley's relegation season.

Vincent Kompany turns out to be a mix of rage and compassion.

The importance to the community of the club shines through and you can't help feel sorry for the players.

After watching this let's hope they get promoted though they gave Scott Parker the top job.

He was in charge at Fulham but seems to employ negative boring tactics especially once ahead.

Don't worry about AI taking over.

An ice cream maker asked AI to suggest a new top selling ice cream.

And it came up with white chocolate coated with balsamic berry and caramelised black pepper.

Apparently it isn't selling well.

If AI carries on coming up with crap ideas consider selling any holdings in AI shares.

Oldest man 112 tells the truth about longevity.

None of this "I eat an apple a day".

He simply says: " it's just luck". Sure he's right.

In Spain if you are "looking for love" go to the supermarket and stick a pineapple in your trolley upside down.

Other people then know you are up for it.

Obviously no-one in the UK buys pineapples as they're horrid and only to be found unloved in hotel breakfast buffets.

In the UK may I suggest a banana (or at a stretch a courgette if well endowed) for men and a kumquat for women?

Anyone want to pay me £20k to get a makeover?

I know I am not a "sir" but I think I deserve it.

Actually I don't need that much.

Could do with a new T-shirt, some shorts and some socks.

So, just send me £100. Cash preferred if poss.

I'll send you an NT donor badge

Markets

EMAILS: I do beg you not to send me emails asking me for advice on a particular share. It isn't legal for me to give you individual advice and all I do is send you a mail saying that, which wastes a lot of my time and yours too.

****
COPYING TRADES: I can't stop you from copying a trade I made but remember the price may already be a lot higher than I paid indeed I hope it is as buying at good prices is what I do for a living. You may be buying at the top and could easily lose money. Also I can make terrible mistakes and have done in the past. I could also sell before you or before the share tanks. I may still be holding in a year when you sold at a loss. Always do your own research, don't jump in blindly. Market makers are very clever at knowing how to make you pay top dollar and then push you out at a loss. This site is about sensible investment and learning how to trade sensibly and is not a tipping site. Beware. Never push buy on anything till you've done proper research and got yourself a sensible price.

Seems like the bankers returned from their stupidly expensive villas in Europe in a bad mood on Monday.

Holidays are over, back to the desk. Tough luck.

Though there is an upside, no more putting up with the spoiled kids whining on and asking why they don't have the latest phone.

Problems do seem on the horizon.

Biggest is the budget due at the end of October. And of course the US election.

The new Govt says it wants growth but all the hints we've had so far is it will probably stifle growth.

CGT rises, pension cuts and wealth taxes are going to do the opposite of what is intended.

Already the wealthy who help stimulate the economy are getting out. I know one myself personally.

Like anyone knows those with money who create jobs need an incentive to stay here and keep going.

Sadly I can only see some shutting their companies or selling their shares before the end of Oct.

Like most of you fingers crossed they will leave isas alone. I suspect they may cut allowance from 20k to 15k.

It is a bit scary that the guy who came up with the idea of capping isas at £100k (What's the point of them then?) is now an MP.

Will they axe part of the benefit of a pension to be able to take 25pc out tax free?

They will almost certainly cut the tax relief available for top rate payers so if you were thinking about adding to your sipp, do it before Oct 30th in case.

Seems to me those of us who save so we're not an eventual burden on the state will be targeted to help those who spend everything and don't save.

September can be a volatile month for shares but also a good month to buy a favourite share at a bargain price too.

As they say, buy on fear, sell on smugness!

Or buy when you feel like selling everything and sell when you're telling someone what a great trader you are.

One share that caught my eye is cyber security outfit NCC.

I have looked at it from time to time but was usually put off by the big debt.

But things have changed here and I think it could be a nice future winner with patience.

It's sold off a Euro division for £66m wiping out all its debt once it gets paid in October.

It is going to use the coming cash surplus to enable organic and inorganic growth.

Later in the year then expect acquisitions and movements that could start to push up the share price.

I like the idea to simplify the business and concentrate on cyber security alone.

With its market cap pushing up there is also potential for it maybe at year end to get into the FTSE 250.

I am looking to average up if the fair wind continues.

It went ex-dividend today for around 3p.

Made a nice profits with Knights a while back from 100p to 134p and 86p to 120p.

It was indeed the winner of the best share to buy vote at a previous seminar (well done Gail).

This time I have to buy higher but this legal outfit does look very cheap at just 5 pe and 0.2 peg with a dividend of more than 4pc.

Debt after acquisitions tempers the valuation a bit but at £35m it's ok and within my safety parameters.

Personal Group is right at the bottom of where I'd buy as I don't like anything with a cap of under £50m because of spreads and liquidity problems.

It's a small insurer and I do find insurers difficult to get my head round but they do offer big dividends like this one.

It seems to be ultra cheap.

I bought some this morning anyway after testing the market makers and discovering the spread was in reality two points and not 6 that it appeared to be.

Its net cash is nearly half its market cap. On top of that it pays a super 7% plus dividend.

And it's right at the bottom of its range so a lot of ticked boxes for me.

I also wonder at this kind of price it could get taken over, I'd be running the rule over this if I was a bigger rival at what looks like such a low price.

Risks? Well my one problem with it is a history of reporting losses as well as profits some years so not all plain sailing.

It came up on my "dash for cash" screen on Sharepad designed to find shares with cash piles.

Link: https://sharescope.co.uk/nakedtrader

Another one on my dash for cash screen was Dot Digital.

Dot digital's shares look a bit dull and have been stuck in the same area for some time around 85-100p after a re-rating from 70p.

But I have nipped a few at the lower end of the range.

This data provider doesn't look cheap but its prospects seem good and it has a giant cash pile of £42m.

Looks like it's going to use that cash to acquire others and if it gets it right the shares could climb higher.

Growth looks good but it will take an acquisition probably or some news to lift it higher, one maybe for the patient (that's me folks).

I averaged up in Costain which appears to be getting a market thumbs up (see archive for reasons to buy).

Same with Eckoh which looks like it's had a bid at 54p. Share price is under 50p so if bid goes through could be 10% plus there and there is a chance of a competing bid for more.

I've shorted engineer Spirax.

For newbies that means trying to profit on the shares falling.

Made a fair bit shorting it before and it looks very weak and prospects look poor for the moment too.

Could be a nice few 100 points left on the downside here.

Just in case I got a guaranteed stop in case a bid came out of the blue for it, you never know.

Acso went for a profit of £73 after getting taken out by a trailing stop as did ttg for £15.

I sold one of my Alpha positions as it had built up to quite a big one (!) for a profit of £6,581. Holding the other and may be tempted to buy back on a pullback.

Part Card got sold after a good run for a profit of £2,343.

But I still hold a fair chunk and would consider a re-buy on a crap day as 150p is possible given an upbeat statement.

Holding Funding Circle got a nice rise today after a lovely statement and was worth being patient with.

Elsewhere lovely rise for LBG Media, M and S, Cohort and Filtronic.

Cohort look like it could head for 1000p if it can get through 900p while Filtronic won yet another contract.

Might be a lot further to run for all of these.

Watch out for Friday at 1.30pm our time when the US jobs figures are out, might swing us into more gloom or else it's all fab really.

Expect a lot of volatility Friday afternoon at any rate.

But remember if there is a share you like and it gets marked down for no reason bar a general sell off you could be getting a bargain.
It can often pay off to buy when there is fear!

And if you are selling just because of fear that could be the wrong move. Don't let general emotion sway you.

I've now finished reading The Trading Game.

Boy, what a gripper!

Definitely makes me glad I never ended up on a trading floor.

The cast of real-life characters there is not a pretty one!

Full time traders seem to be either alcoholics, drug abusers, loners, weirdos, passive-aggressive alpha males, know it alls or just a bit barmy.

And they are all certain of their own brilliance...

Frankly just check any of the discussion forums, all these characters are there..

Anyway, super read and a must buy for anyone interested in trading!

Spreadbetting

I discovered a SB firm that does just 0.6 on the FTSE and tight spreads on 100 and 250 shares, also handy right now if you are shorting given the such tight spread

Just a 0.6 spread for the FTSE which is fantastic and the best I've found.

Spreads on FTSE 100 and 250 stocks are really tight, I shop around SB sites when I am about to trade for the best spread and this one keeps coming out the best.

I've finished the book on AI - "The Coming Wave".

It's a must read for any investor - I've learned a lot, the writer co-founded Deepmind, one of the world's leading AI cos.

It's fascinating, some of the conclusions are scary and it's good to try and understand it, though in the end he concludes AI will being a lot of benefits. It will also drive some shares down and some up.

I love companies with decent cash piles and I've developed a screen for shares with cash with Sharepad to go with my new book.

The screen goes with one of my strategies from the new book "Dash for Cash".

The idea is it picks up sensible shares with a cash pile for further examination.

I don't mean it to be "just buy any share on the screen." My idea is it's a start for further research as just because a company has a cash pile doesn't necessarily mean it's a great company.

If you don't have Sharepad you can try a free trial using the link below, if you think it is useful after the trial you get a decent discount on the link and can pay monthly if you want.

Trade tables follow! Trades are current open and recently closed trades. Closed trades feature the closing price and the amount I won or lost. All others are open. Trades get updated a little later than the narrative. Trading costs are ignored, however I also do not add in dividend payments and with the kinds of companies I buy, dividends tend to equal or outweigh costs. Spread rollovers ignored for web purposes. Tables as accurate as poss however a mistake or two can creep in and very occasionally if I forgot I sold or bought something it will be added at a later time. Trades first reported in the diary under Markets every other Thursday afternoon.

It's good news that Joe Biden is standing down.

It was getting really embarrassing and if you were his family you'd really want him to step down.

Be interesting to see whether this will damage Trump or not.

Let's hope the new Government gets off to a flying start and can improve things.

One thing I like is the idea of tapping in and out for all trains rather than the complicated ticketing system.

We'll find out a lot more in September's budget.

But expect tax rises sooner than later.

We're already being prepared with Sir Lord telling us public finances are in a worse state "than we thought".

This can mean "well we did say we weren't going to put up taxes but we didn't know then how much trouble we are in."

This is a bit like being caught out in a lie but "I mis-spoke".

Pensions will be first off, I guess then capital gains and then just about anything else.

Just have to keep fingers crossed for Isas.

The left-wing think tank kept going on about a £100,000 cap for Isas and one of them from that tank is now an MP.

I just hope commonsense prevails.

Oh dear, yet another tech meltdown but it's a great laugh for someone like me who likes cash.

"Cash only!" says the store.

Oh no, meltdown!

But a reminder we're heading towards a cashless society which means no back up.

Perfect for Putin to down the systems and cause chaos. Use cash if you can!

Like other countries insist, cash should be taken by law, perhaps up to £100.

The Treasury says it doesn't need to make any more 1 and 2p coins.

I bet like me you have loads of these knocking about the house.

Call me sad, but my mission is to dump as many of these coins as I can on the local greengrocer.

Lucky because a lot of weighing goes on, totals are often £4.53 etc.

I especially like totals such as £6.89 as I can dump 9p worth of copper and a load of 5ps.

And it feels an accomplishment to get rid.

But the owners of the shop I'm not sure are happy with me.

I am sure they say "Here comes that bald

with a load of 1ps."

I think the owner's son does support me.

"Yes, but he does bring 10ps and 5ps which are handy".

Fyi, to ensure an odd amount buy loose cherries! Which are fantastic and cheap right now.

Talking money it's been announced Gary Lineker is still getting £1.3m off our licence fees.

Don't renew his contract, let him to to ITV. It is crazy money for a few match to match links.

The surprise was Zoe Ball - nearly £1m!

Surely she could be replaced by AI.

"Just programme the AI to talk loads of showbiz drivel and tons of smalltalk drivel.

"Actually just tons of drivel"

I tried to get an AI robot to talk drivel in my last podcast - find 33 mins in where we have
an argument about whether AIs have a sense of humour:

https://soundcloud.com/thenakedtrader/nt6

TV companies are pushing out all the dire stuff they've been holding so hardly anything to see.

Also the writers' strike now coming home to roost with so many productions delayed.

Turbulence: How Safe Is Your Flight? *** ITV
VERY safe! Just don't watch this if you are about to fly off on hols.

Terror At 30,000 Feet Ch 5 ***
Definitely don't watch this if you are about to fly off on hols.

(Moral of both tales: Keep your seatbelt fastened at all times)

Happy flying!

Spent **** BBC 2
Model returns home to Brixton after spending all the money she made in the US as a model.

Nice portrayal of what can happen to anyone that had money but now doesn't.

Douglas Is Cancelled **** ITV
After a poor start which seemed a bit of a W1A rip off the "comedy" turns into a drama.

Ends up like a stage play with the message it's the person who turns a blind eye to abuse
who's just as bad as the abuser.

The Boys (new series 4) **** Amazon
Never thought this series would be up my street but I did enjoy this.

It's alt right superheros trying to win an election in the US.

It's fun and there are some witty lines in it.

Headline: BA pilot videoed himself spanking a crew member.

I guess that's what you call a hard landing.

August is nearly upon us and I don't tend to do much trading during the month.

Liquidity can become an issue and often wider spreads it's best to steer clear of very small ones.

It's going to be an interesting second part of the year.

Will inflation be beaten? Is it ok for Trump to be head cheese?

Will Labour revert to type and tax us to oblivion?

Have tech companies been overrated?

Will the Ukraine war be resolved... all these things we know not but will all have some effect.

For August probably things will be calm as the movers and shakers disappear into a cocktail or two.

But this week it's been pretty volatile again and today the UK has followed the US into a bit of fear.

This has been sparked by average results for some top US cos and a feeling they may be overvalued.

This has hit shares today and much has been marked down.

But do remember if you are holding quality, it should come back up.

In the meantime check your stops are in a sensible place.

At least then if there is a meltdown in August you won't suddenly be bankrupt.

Over years of meeting people at seminars online or at the hotel one thing I always hear
is "I can't buy that it has already gone up"

Or "Damn! I missed that one, if only I had bought it lower!"

I am perfectly happy buying companies that have already risen, after all they have risen for a reason.

And if I am buying at the top then a "get out quick" will get me out... quick!

But if it keeps going up I am still in.

One such is Marks and Sparks! I've bought in despite missing an already big rise.

On the same day, the Mrs bought some clothing from there which she hasn't done ever I think.

And the 91-year-old lady I speak to every week for Help The Aged also bought some
clothes from M and S.

And quite a basketful, she told me!

Well, if both these women are buying from different age groups something must be right!

Indeed, if I still wore pants, maybe I'd be going there myself....

The turnaround story could easily continue here but if I am buying at the top I'm not giving it much of a leeway and will be out if it heads back down.

(If you fancy giving some time to talk to lonely old people let me know and will put you in touch but you must commit to a call every week).

I bought some Renew Holdings.

This company could benefit from the new Government's keeness on all things infrastucture and building.

It provides infrastucture services in all kinds of areas including the railways.

The shares were re-rated upwards recently and have been sitting there for some time.

However I can imagine potential for anothe re-rating and it could be a decent isa tuckaway maybe for a year or two.

I found this one on my "dash for cash screen" on Sharepad.

This is a screen I set up to find super companies with lots of cash.

Renew is using its cash to buy up others and it has just bought Excalon Holdings.

To get the screen it's on the home page of sharepad.

I bought more LBG Media.

Excellent statement yesterday and could be worth a lot more in time.

This digital entertainments outfit which focusses on youth (inc Ladsbible) is seeing excellent
growth.

In particular it had a very good "Euros"!

Its audience now up to 490m from 410m and it keeps building.

Potential here as a bid target I reckon, looking at all its parts there is a lot of hidden value.

LBG reports on September 18th so that's right in the middle of the shares retreat in Spain.

So those of you coming for a few days in Spain with me, we shall be giving this the once over!

Talking hidden value I think there might be some in Advanced Medical Solutions.

The shares aren't cheap but I wonder if a bigger company might eye up its various
tissue healing technologies and key surgical product areas.

Its Liquibrand has sold very well.

Its combination with Peters Surgical is spoken in bullish terms, one worth sticking in the
isa I think and awaiting developments.

Despite the high rating of nearly 20, this one might well be justified.

Card Factory trade worked a treat and I nearly took profits.. but a massive seller has gone so instead I bought some more.

Apparently an Aussie billionaire has bought an over 8pc stake in it.

You'd have thought he'd have kept his cards closer to his chest.

If it can properly break out over 113p ish, then 125p is on the cards.

Perhaps even more, on fundamentals, 145p seems more reasonable.

I've shorted shares in Trustpilot.

Nothing exactly wrong with the company, it has good net cash and rising profits.

But.. it's on a pe of a massive 77 and after some big rises a 3% stake was sold to bag profits.

I wonder if more selling is to come in time?

I've had a bit of a summer clearout and banked some profits and losses,

I parted ways with FRP for a profit of £930 after results, wasn't sure there was much more to come for now. 132.5

I've taken final profits in my bid share Iqgeo, my best profit of the year with well over £100,000 bagged personally.

I've taken 10p odd under the bid price as I don't wait to wait what might be some weeks for the full price.

So for the website that's a profit of £15,885 and a total overall profit from the Iqgeo bid of
a marvellous £27,908. My trade of the year!

I took a loss of £189 on the Polar Tech Trust.

With superb timing I bought just before the tech markdown. Master trader me.

Sold the other part of the Cab trade for a profit of £567 - it just kept going down and hit a trailing stop.

I took some profits on Yu a month ago after a good run as reported here and more day before results (profit £4,733) as chances of a downturn on results day was almost certain as always.

And indeed like always it did come down.

But I kept the ones bought under the 500p area for longer-term.

Happens to a lot of shares, wait for the comeback then buy 2-3 days later.

Looks well oversold and about to turn up so my finger is hovering over the buy button at the moment.

Rs hit the top of the trading range and profit of £564 banked.

The Bellway short was closed for a profit of £535.

Right with all losses and profits taken into account that's a total profit of £21,926 for the site.

Elsewhere good report from Alpha Group International, will continue to hold even though profits for the site are over £10,000.

I think more to come if it can break over 2500.

ME Group Int continues a nice gentle climb higher after its fab statement and increase in laundries.

Bloomsbury tracks higher and went ex div today for about 11p. (Hence the fall).
Cohort reported and lifted its dividend 42% as geopolitical tension lifted profits.

I do think Cohort is under the radar (as a defence share) and it's getting to the top of my list as a potential bid target. I reckon a target of 1200p is about fair.

A bit of patience with Cohort could pay off nicely.

Telecom Plus goes ex dividend for 47p next Thu (Aug 1) so beware it might start the day down 50p or so and stops might need to be adjusted.

Holiday Tips

If you are going away on hols I do suggest taking some brilliant ear plugs with you, link here:

https://amzn.to/3WguOPf

They have some noise protection technology in them and they help with plane noise, ambient outside noise (say if the outside of your hotel is noisy). Keeps out loud music, helps with crying kids, and even a bit of snoring!

The buds come in lots of different sizes and easy to sleep with and are only £39!
A no brainer and the first thing to be taken on holiday list. Thank me when you return.

Also do place tracking tags in your baggage and your car!

You may remember our car was stolen and we got it back in just an hour because we hid a tag in a manky glove which the thieves missed.

It's good to know where your bag is if it goes missing but one in your car is even better.

If you left the car at home, or left it at the airport it's good to be able to check on it

Here's a link: https://amzn.to/3zVOwZf

And finally how about my Trade Like A Shark as a holiday read?

It's my favourite - full of real horror stories from trading going wrong and I keep a copy by the bath.

Buy and read! Amazon link: https://amzn.to/46v2hcg

One or two of you asked about how we got our car back after it was stolen, we used apple airtags, hide them in your car or under your bike seat and get your car or bike back, amazing.

Amazon have them, link here: https://amzn.to/460qjeY

The steering lock we were recommended and bought you can get from amazon, link here: https://amzn.to/3Z4VALw
